Professional, good prices, good service. The website was giving me some troubles making a reservation so I just called and they had many more times available on the phone. Was able to get a same day appointment (within the next hour or so). Ran in to some traffic, so called to let them know and they were very nice and accommodating about it. Check in process was easy, just a single page form to fill out. My technical was very friendly and did a good job of talking to me so it wasn't awkward at all but not so much it was overbearing. I've been coming to A Smooth Affair since it was The Body Waxing Studio. Lucy took over ownership in 2021 and has made the place much better! She is super sweet and friendly, and makes you feel so comfortable during your service. They use hard wax only, which is a strip free wax that is much gentler on the skin. You feel waaaay less discomfort with hard wax because it does not pull on your skin like the strips do. I usually see Lucy, I've seen Nikki quite a few times, and I recently had Kiki do my Brazilian. They all work at a perfect pace which allows them to efficiently wax you while also making it a quick process -- I always want to be done as quick as possible lol!! You can tell how much Lucy enjoys her business and her clients. She always goes over aftercare and what to expect after your service, even if you've heard it already. They also send out reminder emails a couple days after your service to remind you to start exfoliating then! The booking is online through Vagaro, it's very easy to book and cancel or reschedule if needed. I've booked last minute appointments a few times and have always been able to find one on short notice. They've got a rewards program which basically equates to a free wax per year. The place is always clean and bright, with happy music playing. The only thing I wish they had were walls that go all the way up to the ceiling to make each room completely private. Besides their waxing services for all genders, they also offer facials and skincare services. I haven't tried any yet but I will get to it eventually. Lastly, they are so so friendly and remember your face, your name, what you usually get done. The front desk employee is an absolute sunshine every time! As much as I want to update this review with a 1-star rating, I'm not petty like that. I just wanted to give a heads up to anyone who may give them a 3-star review that they will be refused future service. Sometimes I like to come back to places I've visited in the past which allows me to update my experiences and keep my reviews current. Unfortunately, this place doesn't seem to take criticism too well and doesn't like 3 stars, even though in the Yelp world, it means neither good or bad. It's neutral, it's average. Today in the middle of making an appointment with the receptionist, another lady comes on the phone and turned me away, saying that they are not able to suit my needs and that there was a problem last time. Yes, that happened. I go to many wax studios and honestly had to revisit my old review. It turns out I actually had a good wax session with my esthetician, but I compared the ambiance to what I knew about other waxing places. I also made the observation that many 5-star reviews were from reviewers w/ only 1 or 2 reviews under their belt, which looks like it still holds true. If this was the problem, it just shows you how this business is run. People are entitled to their own opinion, but heaven forbid you write them less than 5 stars, they'll turn you away. read more

I have had many Brazilians, and also used to be an esthetician myself years and years ago. Today I had the worst Brazilian I've ever had, from a girl named Kiki. She did not step out for me to get undressed/dressed (maybe they don't do that here for privacy reasons?), when she started waxing she didn't say anything and just started applying the wax without warning, she did not test the wax temp inside her arm before applying, she was extremely light handed and did not hold my skin taunt at all. I jumped at a couple pulls because she was struggling. I would've appreciated if she was able to step out for myself to get dressed, so I can at least look in the mirror or even wipe any post-wax oil off of myself. Also, I am 7 months pregnant so I can't see past my belly. I wasn't given a mirror or anything to look at the work done if she had missed anything (which, she did.) She also did not tweeze AT ALL or do any ingrowns. Aside from the terrible service itself, she was not personable and didn't say a word to me throughout the whole service. When I got home to actually see what was done, most hairs did not come out from the root and were just torn - it looks like I could've just shaved. read more

I have to be honest, I don't usually get Brazilians because every single time I've gotten one I haven't been happy. There's always too much hair left over or I get a WICKED rash afterwards. Not this time! I'm sooooo glad I found this place and I will never go anywhere else (please don't close; Alyssa, please never leave! ;) ) This was hands down the best waxing experience I've ever had. First, I was made to feel super comfortable. Everyone was smiles and good-hearted jokes, it felt like friends meeting up. The location is also very clean and smelled really good. Alyssa made me feel comfortable and her technique was flawless. I understand that this stuff is very subjective but the amount of pain with her was so minimal for me. I usually do get a rash or large ingrowns after a wax and it's been two weeks now and nothing. I really do believe her expertise helped. Lucy takes care of my waxing and makes me feel so comfortable throughout the process (let's be real it's the southern regions and can get uncomfortable). She used hard wax which works wonders at doing the job quickly and effectively! Nikki takes care of my skin with microdermabrasion, something that I've never tried but after struggling with acne (hormonal acne) I decided to try this. Mind you, I have the most sensitive skin with dry and oily patches but this treatment works wonders!! It immediately calms down my active acne and brings out an amazing glow! The products are vegan and gentle which is a huge must for me, and I do bring my own spf but they also provide some at the end of treatment if you don't bring yours. 10/10 love everyone here AND I appreciate how organized the salon is with scheduling and appointment reminders! read more

I absolutely love coming here! the prices are great and affordable! The studio is truly a hidden gem : throwback songs, home-y conversations with the ladies, and their services are top-notched! I came here for waxing with Sabrina and she is so gentle! She walks you through the whole method and does a clean job on every body part required! Another truly must-do is have a facial session with Rose!! She is all about results and nothing except for results! On the way, we were hella scared and anxious telling each other "f*ck I'm scared" It was not our first time getting waxed. Both of us had previous experience and it was with wax strips. But here??? They do hard wax. None of that wax strips! Made a reservation, did paper work and in less than 3 min, our ladies came to get us. I told my wax lady (Vanessa) about it and she was like "ohh noooo". Then she did her thing and took care of me. Hard wax felt soooo much better, faster and less intense compared to the waxing strips!! Took about or less than 15 minutes for a complete Brazilian. Quick in n out, i would definitely recommend this place to other ppl as well :) First time is $20!! I will definitely be returning with my friend. It'll be $40 next time but SO WORTH IT. read more

I remember the first time I went to see Lucy I was a nervous wreck . I was exhausted of having to shave and have my daughter do the same . As I walked in her room I felt a calming and peaceful setting. Lucy made me feel so comfortable I brought my oldest daughter to her fast forward almost two years later and I get everything waxed now . She has so many great services and prices . She has the most cleanest facilities as well and top customer services at all times . Trust her process , the facials are also the best . I have liked most of my waxes here. The prices are good. However, I was disappointed when the owner wouldn't extend a discount on the birthday email offer they sent to my recently deceased father's email address instead of mine. (I am named after my dad & my email address has an i at the end where his does not.) The offer was suppose to be good the week of my birthday, and it was just shy of two weeks when I discovered the email. It would have been a small price to pay to keep a returning customer. I had been going there regularly (although infrequently due to past laser hair removal) for several years. **Update** The owner replied that they can only go by the email I give them. Wow. Does she really think I gave them my fathers email. What grown woman would do that & for a place where she gets her coochie waxed?! Obviously they inputted the wrong email by omitting the "I" at the end of my email address. Perhaps she should take a moment to try to understand the situation before she treats it live every other. ... My dad's email address didn't even exist until this year. So, I'm sure for all the past years I have been a customer their promotional emails have bounced back. Sounds like some internal housekeeping is in order & they should be checking their procedures or at the very least double checking the data they input. read more
