Mr. Fisher showed up promptly, was amazingly professional and polite. He pointed out several serious concerns, including structural damage from years of neglect. He gave me a ballpark estimate of what needed repairs would cost, and that figure was so high that, even if he overstated the cost, I couldn't afford the house. Then, when I told him then and there of my pending decision, he said that, since I wouldn't require a written report, he'd only charge me less than half of what he'd quoted me as his fee when we set up the inspection. Amazing! Excellent experience, especially since I hadn't been through buying a house for decades.

Almost every person involved was shady and underhanded, which is why Iucked out by having Chuck and Todd on my side. Todd did a great and thorough job inspecting the home. Because of the hoarder's clutter in the home, a dishonest seller and resentful tenants that would barely let us in, he wasn't able to inspect some aspects of the home, and Chuck volunteered to come back before closing if there was access and inspect the areas/things that were blocked on the original inspection (at no-charge). These are the most straightforward, on the level guys. Reasonable and on your side. The deal ended up going south, and the seller's agent/new buyers tried to pressure Chuck into giving them the inspection report and he immediately called to tell me, I would've never known, but he is so honest and legit--- he's that guy. This entire experience has been extraordinarily disheartening and if it wasn't for the great guys at above grade I would have 1) been doubly screwed over, and 2) lost all faith in humanity. Also, the phone support they provided me and going through the inspection report and talking through the process was beyond expectations. They are seriously great, we are still looking and without a doubt I'm going to be hiring them to inspect the next place.

He schooled us in every room giving us the knowledge of what to look for in our search for a new home. Sven invested four hours of his time at the property and found over 148 issues with a property that we thought was close to turnkey. He also offered a discount with our next inspection. It is hard to overstate how professional he is and how much he cares about his craft. You would be incredible lucky to work with Sven and his team. They are honest, thorough and will teach you so much about home inspection even if you've been through the process several times. Less than a year after I purchase the house I found that my rim joists were completely rotted, my beams were dry rotted due to years of moisture exposure. Upon inspection from several contractors it was agreed and found that I had a major moisture problem in my basement that if not fixed my foundation was going to crumble and the dry rotted beams would eventually give way and my house would collapse. They were able to measure the moisture with a simple handheld machine. The only thing this Matt guy had was a screwdriver. I was pointblank told that the inspector screwed me. It is now costing me thousands of dollars to correct the moisture problem and then thousands more to replace all the rotted wood and beams and joists In this house and yes I got several opinions. Plus the inspection was not cheap at all... somewhere in the 1500-1800's. I thought at that price I would get a thorough inspection. Don't use this company. Use someone else and have a contractor you trust come in behind them and double check. Sure wish I did because I am now screwed.

We had lived in NY for less than a year when we decided to buy a house. We were very anxious about…read moreour first home-buying experience and the things that may be wrong with the house. On the day of inspection, Ron arrived earlier and had already started inspecting the surroundings of the house when we arrived. He was very focused on his work and asked us to join him after he had finished the outside area. He had caught every little detail about the house and gave us an overview of the things that needed immediate attention as well as our future maintenance tasks. I had some concerns about the humidity in the unfinished basement. Ron spent more than 2 hours analyzing every corner of the basement; he found water leakage in the crawl space around the basement and noted many other areas of improvement. After 5 hours of detailed inspection, when he was almost done with the entire house, he suspected an issue with the vent fan in one of the bathrooms and went back up to the attic to re-analyze the situation. Having walked us through the outside and inside of the house, he then summarized everything into two categories: things that require immediate attention; and ones that can be addressed later. I can't thank him enough for giving us such great peace of mind about our first house buying experience. He is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced; at the same time, he devoted a lot of attention to every detail. After the inspection, he sent us his detailed report (86 pages) that covered all of his observations. I learned many new things from Ron; some were specific to our house and other things that could potentially come up in the future.
