This place was okay. I got pad thai noodles with tofu. It was quite filling but VERY lemony. They put too much lemon. The thai iced tea was good, but who can screw up thai iced tea...its just that it was close to three dollars ($2.79)!!!! WTF!! Idk what the low ratings are for. The multiple times we've been here, the food is really good and they give you lots of it. The lady at the front desk is super nice and tries to keep declining tips as well. Some people may not "get" people from other cultures (like some reviews I read), but the workers here like the lady at the register are well meaning and nice people. I don't really care to try anthing else except the black pepper fish and red curry chicken. We go here for dinner mostly as we don't work near the area (for lunch), but sometimes we will pick up lunch too if we're in the area. Dinner size portions are big and the food is great too. Love their pad thai chicken or shrimps, red curry chicken, thai spicy chicken, black pepper fish, and orange chicken. The prices have gone up a little bit, but then so has inflation. Their portions are still big compared to other (halal) Thai places. Will be back again. read more

I wish I could give this place more stars. Honestly it he service is great, the lady does not try and cheat you but rather gives you a tremendous amount of food definitely worth every penny. She's very kind and has a playful personality. If you can't take a joke so be it, she even challenged my brother and I to see how much we could eat after we ordered a few dishes. Now besides service being spectacular, the food is very good. While it may not be perfect it's very close. They give you so much food that you'll probably have enough left over for the next day. A lot of food and it's definitely tasty. I highly recommend this place, small stores like this are 100x better than the larger halal stores like Dar Dar. Service is beyond horrible!!! I ordered the black pepper chicken and when I got it, it didn't look anything like the picture; it smelled bad, and the taste was terrible!! I told the cashier that I wanted a refund because this was nothing like how it was advertised and I couldn't even eat this! She told me no refunds. I said excuse me, I literally can't eat this and it's nothing like it is advertised in the photo and I would appreciate my money back and I'll be on my way. She refused! She was rude and told me that I'm stupid and just pointed at the picture on the wall a few times. I told her I don't like being talked to that way and I would like my money back now. She said she told me it wasn't good when I put in my order and that its my fault I decided to get it anyway. She never said that to me when I was ordering and if she did I would've taken her word for it... So I was fed up and decided to leave, but my friend said no we're not just going to leave and have paid for a disgusting meal. She told the lady that she needs to speak with a manager about getting a refund or she's calling the police. The lady started acting aggressive and told her she needs to leave or she's going to call the police on us. My friend told her to call the police, because either way they're in the wrong and we didn't do anything wrong. The lady started dialing numbers on the phone and we stood there waiting. The lady stopped dialing and gave us a very evil stare. My friend told her she needs to speak to the manager now or she's seriously calling the non emergency police to settle this. The lady told her there is no manager at the business. My friend didn't take that as a legitimate answer, because obviously every place has a manager. I dialed the non emergency Fremont police and as I was giving them the address the lady called her manager on the phone. She talked in a different language and seemed like she was laughing and making fun of us, then after a few minutes she hung up the phone. Took out cash from the register that was the correct amount for the refund, slammed the money on the counter, and walked away into the back without saying a word. Eek. I'm always leery of restaurants that have the word "express" in their name, but I thought I'd try this one anyway. Well, I should have trusted my instincts. This is really a Chinese restaurant in disguise. Very little of this restaurant can be considered Thai with the exception of a few dishes- Red Curry Chicken, Pad Thai, and Thai Spicy Chicken (and variations. of this with different choices of meats). Oh, and there's a Thai cookbook on a bookcase near the register. Scary to think that maybe they used that cookbook! I'm not saying the food is terrible, but if you're expecting Thai food, you'll be disappointed. There are large photos of the dishes on the wall, but they seem to look alike. This is primarily a take-out place, although there are about five tables. They don't serve any hot drinks, so if you want tea, you'll have to walk over to Starbucks around the corner. For $5.99, you get a large styrofoam container filled with whatever dish you choose, such as the Red Curry Chicken. Rice is extra! I thought the rice would be included, but what we got was another large styrofoam container filled with rice! If you do go here, you'll be fine with ordering one item with rice, and this will feed two people or possibly more! read more

I should have been alerted when they charge a buck extra for small box of non-jasmine rice. she hastily brought our styrofoam boxes to the table. when I asked for a cup of water she reacted as if I wanted to borrow her car for the weekend. she distractedly waved at the pitcher & cups on a counter. the helpings were large and the quality was mediocre at best. it reeked of packaged mix and sri racha chili sauce. being halal is their big selling point (is msg halal?). an afghani family at the next table quietly ate their meal. they were restricted to THIS place as their thai food experience? I felt mildly sorry for them. inexpensive? only if you ignore poor quality and scruffy atmosphere. if you've never had good thai food then you might not be disappointed. if you have, then avoid Thai Express and congratulate yourself for it. read more
