Wow this place is amazing! Love love love the chickpea falafel grilled wrap. First the pita wrap itself was lightly grilled, crisp and thin (not the typical thick fluffy dough pita). Their falafel was so tasty and aromatic. You can also help yourself to more of their OG yogurt sauce (so good!) , cilantro sauce, spicy chili sauce / freely available on the counter. I was told they started with one shop years ago and having eaten there now, it explained why they grew to multiple stores in the bay now. My wife, son and I had an enjoyable lunch at The Kebab Shop the other day. We hadn't been there in a while, but decided to go back to enjoy their food. We each ordered a Wrap. My wife and I enjoyed our Grilled Wraps with Safron Chicken. Our son ordered a Grilled Wrap with Chicken Shawarma. We all really liked our Wraps. Our son finished his, but my wife and I could only finish half. We took our leftovers home to enjoy later. I noticed that they no longer have their sauces out for their guests to add as they wish. They now add them to your wraps, based upon what you specify when you order. We liked that the sauce was tasty and had a bit of a kick. If you want it spicier, just specify it when you order. Love the kebab shop! First time coming to this location and it's super clean and updated compared to the one I usually go too. Bowls come with rice and plates with salads on the side. We got the wraps and a side of their crave fries. The portions are quite generous and I would share the wrap between 2 if not very hungry. Their sauces are quite nice too - particularly the cilantro jalapeño one. Food was delicious and came out pretty quickly. The place is super clean and good for groups of all sizes. They were very aware of who was waiting for awhile and they'd ask to make sure they had your order and when it was going to be ready. The staff were great for handling all those orders during the fundraiser. I was bummed cause I didn't get my tabouli, but I also didn't look to verify our order. I have been wanting to try out this Kebab Shop for a bit of time now as the first time I was kind of thwarted because it was kind of hidden. But we were in search of some lunch. In short, it's a new spot, the food is good, the smell inside is a bit undesired though you grow to get used to it while you're in there, but at least there's seating outside and you can call in your order and make sure you say the words on the menu. L O C A T I O N The Kebab Shop is on the corner of Paseo Padre Parkway and Walnut Ave. It's at the actual corner so if you're coming from the opposite side and go into the plaza parking lot there's no way you know it's there. I kind of wish there was some kind of signage near the parking lot. Parking is shared by the other establishments and we easily found parking. M E N U You have a variety of meats in kebab or sliced (chicken, beef, lamb + beef) and one non-meat option (falafel) that can be made into a wrap, bowl, salad or plate. Then it's a matter of picking a sides for the plate or toppings for the other options. They have a few other items that are not plates like fries, baklavas, brownies, etc. We opted for a plate with carved lamb + beef and had a salad and fries as a side. Unfortunately we didn't realize there wasn't any sauces in the bag and you had to go to the soda area to get your sauces so our meats were kind of super dry, but they were flavorful. So note, make sure you stop by and grab some condiments otherwise you will be sad. I kind of wish they already prepacked some or at least tell you that there are sauces on the side. The salad was fine, the fries were good. S E R V I C E When we called in our order upon asking what type of meat, we said lamb beef "gyro" and the person on the other side was like we don't have that. So we specifically said the actual words on the menu and they were able to get it. So just beware when ordering make sure you're looking at the menu to ensure a smooth process. We easily paid at the register. I just wished they told us to go to the side for any sauces. O V E R A L L It's nice to have a Kebab Shop nearby in this area to give us another option for food. I think I'll stick to ordering to go. I'll also make sure to get sauces next time we go but the meat was dry. Or perhaps stick to the kebabs. Wanted to try this newly opened kabob place. Ordered two chicken kabob plates to go. I paid $41 including tax for these two plates. Honestly, the food was delicious--no doubt about that. What sets it apart from other kebab spots is the presentation and quality of food not quantity, it includes rice, grilled veggies, and perfectly cooked kebabs. And to mention about their sauces. So delicious- specially green one which looks like chimichuri. The ingredients felt fresh, and they're clearly not compromising on food quality. Now, on the price: Two plates came out to $41 which is on the pricier side. At roughly $20+ per plate, it's not a budget option. But if you're okay spending that much for well-made, flavorful kebabs, it's worth trying. Service was great and attentive as well. If you look at the portion in the picture, you can judge for yourself if it matches your expectations for the price. For me, it's a solid place for quality over quantity, especially if you're craving something a bit nicer than your average kebab joint but will this be my go to place for lunch? For $20 its definitely not worth the price. They really need to add more ingredients. I can get more food at chipotle, cava, poke, and other fast casual places for $14 or less. The staff is in training, so many families faces from their other locations are offering assistance. I ordered the Grilled Steak Plate with Truffle Brown Rice and Grilled Vegetables plus a side of Pita Cihips. The service was friendly. I soon got my food and took it home. This place is clean and very spacious. There is plenty of parking and they are well staffed so your food comes out quickly. I was in the mood for their crave fries and they don't disappoint. They were hot and loaded with feta cheese, pickled onions and garlic yogurt. I added the other sauces for more flavor. The cilantro jalapeño sauce is very good when mixed with the garlic yogurt. Also, I think they changed up the menu since they serve bowls instead of like small boxes. But I think it's meant to increase the portion sizes. I ordered my usual chicken wrap with fries, and the portions were noticeably skimpy. The wrap was mostly the wrap, and the fries were chopped into tiny pieces--cold and hard, almost like crushed saltine crackers. They definitely used the fries left over which was only like 4 sticks crushed...For a meal that usually costs around $21 (even with a $3 promo discount this time as my mom had signed up for rewards), it felt like poor value. This has happened multiple times now. I've even left feedback through the online ordering system, but no one has ever acknowledged or responded. They have a two bowl and side deal and it was a great deal. I ordered online and chose the selection I wanted. You have the option to include or exclude items in the bowl. For the sides, they have hummus and pita, falafel, fries, and salad as options. I ordered the bowl with rice and mixed greens, chicken, jalaepenos, spicy hummus, and tzatziki with falafels on the side. The falafels are soo good. Nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. There are also whole garbanzo beans in the falafel. They were spraying bleach and other cleaning liquids around the stove right when our food was getting prepared. This contamination is not ok. This has become one of my door dash staples. You get a lot of great food and sauces when you order. I always get the falafel, beef lamb gyro meat and rice. I've ordered it so many times and it's always consistently delicious, which is why I keep ordering it. It's a vicious cycle really lol. I have never been to the restaurant so I can't speak on how clean, but service wise it's always accurate, and always more sauces than you ask for. That's what makes it extra valuable when door dashing because you know the order will be complete and accurate. Got the chicken tenderloin plate for myself with spicy hummus and Greek salad and a lamb wrap for boyfriend. I love their sauce station. I like the garlic and cilantro sauces. My order was ready in about 10 minutes. Good portions; liked the flavor of the food. Next time, I would get original hummus. The spicy hummus was definitely spice, not in a bad way. The Kebab Shop's 48th location (and the 2nd in Fremont alone) shows just how profusely this "new school Mediterranean" chain is expanding! They've even made some recent improvements to their menu that have allowed me to enjoy the food here even more so than ever before. I ordered the Salad Bowl with a base of baby greens and romaine, and I tried both their carved chicken and grilled chicken shawarma (which were similar in flavor and texture), as well as their falafel (which uniquely contains whole chickpeas!). The standard toppings included romaine, red cabbage slaw, pickled onions, tomato/cucumber, and OG (original garlic) yogurt sauce. Whereas the included toppings used to end there, they now offer extras for free including crumbled feta, tzatziki, pita crumbles, and their three hummus variations: original, fire, and cilantro-jalapeño, and of course I got a scoop of each! The extras really brought the bowl to the next level--the salty feta, the creamy tzatziki, the crunchy pita crumbles, and the colorful scoops of hummus added whole dimensions of flavor and texture! Another highlight of the restaurant was their homemade sauces, which you could serve yourself from the counter: OG yogurt (white), cilantro jalapeño (green), and fire chili (red), each of which was uniquely delicious! Overall, the food here was amazing and affordable, and I especially liked pairing the earthy falafels with the creamy hummus, the sauces, and the thin, chewy flatbread used for their wraps (but which you can order on the side). read more
