We drove from Half Moon Bay to eat here, by far the best Mediterranean food we have eaten. The flavors are authentic, the service is amazing and the staff is very friendly. Outdoor seating and dog friendly. Great ambience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU WANT THE OG FLAVORS!!

Delicious food and good portions for decent prices. We received our food quickly as well. Small establishment with plenty of parking. Would definitely recommend if you're in the mood for Mediterranean cuisine.

I ordered a kebab combo and this is what I got. To me-these are not kebab and I'm a bit disappointed. However the food tastes okay and great value for the price ($17.99).

My favorite local gyro spot on Fremont! The steak gyro is amazing every time I've come here and give you a great portion of meet. The chef is a great guy and makes good conversation.

If you grew up in Fremont or are familiar with the area, then you definitely know Gaters. They are the definition of a hole in the wall with amazing staff and food. I love to go here when I don't have much time/energy to cook at home but I want something filling and nutritious. This regular sized plate is only 14.99 which is insane to me. Most kebab places/mediterranean spots are starting at $25+ these days so this is 10/10 in my books always. The staff is always very friendly, they're open late, and just about everything on the menu is delicious. One of my go to spots since I was in high school!

Ok I read reviews I saw some bad ones and good ones had to try it myself and give my own personal review. mediterranean food is a plus tired of eating Chinese food and McDonald's. Ann was the person that took the order and I forgot the chef's name but talking friendly great vibe. So for the location it's a small little spot has a few tables and chairs. It will be nice when they remodeled the place and make it look upto date cause the food was pretty good. so we ordered the lamb Gyro french fries kefta kebab plate don't forget to ask for the white sauce and the hot sauce on the side which my wife likes. My Son was going crazy with the lamb Gyro we split it of course it was all gone french fries all gone of course they have ketchup. Not bad my wife's kefta kabob meats was fresh and seasoned properly. Yes I ate her food too. All gone salad was good. Came with with a circle bread you could say it might be pita if correct me if that was wrong and hummus and of course my wife ordered two baklava you have to get that of course that was good. I'll be back to try something else I have a big taste buds I'm a plumber and I go to alot of restaurants I'm writing this 6 hours after eating there and I'm still full with no stomach issues. 5 stars for me because the food was perfect for me and my family.

When seated after ordering, we were served with the signature Afghan bread with delicious spicy dipping sauce. The owner I presume also introduced us to two lovely dishes. One with potato in a flat bread and the other was a butter nut squash. They were both served with a creamy yogurt. My wife and I ordered the trio Kabob and the eggplant dish. Highly recommended. The meats are so tender! Out of all the Persian places I have experienced the chicken at this establishment is the best! The beef even more! The dessert was heaven... We got the potato bolani and platter of the chicken kebab and chapli kebab to share. The potato bolani was my favorite, but the chapli kebab didn't have much flavor. The chicken was decent and paired well with the rice. My favorite items were definitely the bolani and chutney. At the end of our meal, they offered us a complimentary dessert of rose-flavored pudding with crushed pistachios. Overall, a 3.5 for food. I would definitely come back for the bolani. Please note parking can be quite difficult since it's in a small plaza so expect to parallel park in the neighborhood.

It's like a cross between a western style bbq joint and a middle eastern twist with its meats and food. Turns out, this place is mainly an Afghan restaurant! It's half eatery half a butcher shop for people to come and purchase fresh meats for some home cooking. In fact, I watched a lot of people coming in and ordering meats to go. I ordered their chili lamb kabob which was tender and juicy. It had lots of flavor from the spices but enough to where it wasn't overwhelming. I ordered it on top of a pillow of rice which was fluffy and buttery textured. It was delicious. There are sauce bottles to pair with the meats which is my favorite part. I really liked their white creamy yogurt sauce mixed with their red house chili sauce. It gave my lamb meat so much flavor and some heat. I loved my order and will definitely order two next time. I also want to try their steaks. They take their time grilling their meats so orders can take a short while. It's worth it for sure. No complaints here but I do wish they played some light music in the background for some ambiance. Things can be real quiet in here so it can be awkward dining in. Other than that, I really like this place and will be back for more.

I mentioned before the rice has a scent and flavor beyond jasmine or basmati. The French fries are crisp & fresh. The flat bread is tender. The menu has expanded and is more flexible. Overall Rating: 4.5/5…read more If you are looking for authentic, flavorful, and incredibly generous portions of Afghan food in Fremont, De Afghanan Cuisine is an absolute must-visit. The quality of the food stands tall alongside the massive quantity. Here is a breakdown of what we ordered: Butternut Squash Bolani The Good: The portion size is huge, making it more than enough for two people to share. The ingredients tasted incredibly fresh, and I deeply appreciated that it wasn't greasy at all. It comes with a side of yogurt that complements it perfectly. The Catch: I felt the filling itself was a bit sparse inside the dough. Pro Tip: Don't skip the fresh cilantro chutney sitting on every table; it pairs beautifully with the bolani! Triple Kabob (Murgh, Teka, and Chaplee Kabob) This platter gives you a taste of everything: chicken (Murgh), beef (Teka), and grilled ground sirloin (Chaplee). The meat was exceptionally tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. It comes with a side of salad, bread, and your choice of rice (white or Afghan brown, which is seasoned white rice). We opted for the white rice, and it was excellent. Ambience and Service The service was perfectly fine, but the ambience could use a little updating. A heads-up for warm days: the dining room can get really hot. As the kitchen fired up more orders, the heat quickly drifted into the seating area, which is why they kept the doors open. Luckily, we finished our meal right before we started getting toasted ourselves! They do have outdoor seating if you prefer to catch a breeze. Know Before You Go (Important Side Notes) Don't go to the wrong spot: De Afghanan Kabob House nearby is cash-only and takeout-only. If you want a sit-down meal and prefer to pay with a credit card, make sure you go to De Afghanan Cuisine. Parking: Street parking is pretty limited, but there is a convenient lot located right between the takeout and dine-in locations. Bottom Line: Incredible food that doesn't compromise on quality just because they give you a mountain of it. We will definitely be back!

The restaurant features both indoor and outdoor dining. They have an ATM on-site. The dining room has been slightly remodelled since my last visit. Started off with the mantu and they were excellent. The portion was gigantic and perfect for sharing. Loved how crispy this came out, along with the side of yogurt. The eggplant dip was also quite tasty and complemented the Afghan bread quite well. The chapli entree with brown rice was excellent. The rice was super fragrant while the chapli was super juicy and flavorful. Excellent entree. It was sweet, flavorless, dry and lacking spice - four out of four people didn't like it. I definitely won't be trying it again. The Mutton Biryani, was flavorful and definitely many times better than chicken biryani. The Haleem was the absolute best item we ordered and a definite hit, making it worth trying again. Be warned about their 'Family Pack'. It's advertised as a family size but serves about two people, not definitely four, which is quite pricey for a 32oz bucket at $40. While the Haleem's quality justified the price as a seasonal item, the 'Family Pack' concept for biryani is poor value. I'd recommend the Haleem and Mutton Biryani, but steer clear of the Chicken Biryani and don't expect the "Family Pack" to feed more than two, 3 at best.
