They have some diverse offerings on the menu and are an asian fusion with Hawaiian, Chinese, and Japanese on the menu. Seems odd but the reason we came here over other places was I saw they had Honey Walnut Shrimp on the menu and its been almost a year since I had it. Interior is on the newer side and the large windows create a lot of nice natural light inside. Golden Eel Rice: A bright yellow egg moat with rice and garnish in the middle. The egg is topped with Unagi. Loved how clean this one tasted but in hindsight I could make something like this at home and should have went for some of the more standard sizzling plates. Beef Rice: Beef surrounding a mound of rice with corn and green onion toppings. It comes with a paper ring around it to remind you it is HOT and you will burn yourself if you touch it. The beef is on the bottom when it is being served hot on the plate for all of it to be blended and cooked. My biggest issue with this dish was that it was overly salty. They have hot sauce, garlic sauce, teriyaki sauce, salt, pepper, and spicy seasoning all on the table so you can dress your plates to your liking, but they are pretty good by themselves already. Finally tried this spot, it is somewhat close to me. It is one of those sizzle plate spots similar to Pepper Lunch and/or Sizzle Spot. But this place also has a section for Hawaiian Plate Lunches like Katsu/Short Rib/Chicken with Rice and Mac Salad. They've got an interesting enough of a menu that I could somewhat be a reg here. QR code ordering but you pay up front. I've had the kitchen miss an add-on like a fried egg, so you may have to bring it to someones attention. Service is pretty minimal, but some employees are more observation oriented, like they'll ask if you want a box if they see some food remaining. But not guaranteed as some have a no contact policy. I've been in twice and it's 50/50. Spam Musubi ($5.50/3*) Huge musubis, but mostly rice. I like more of a balance and I like ones that have furikake, so these are super meh to me. But at least their rice is tender and fresh. Wings ($12/3.5*) Nice sized wings and nicely fried. They may have a 2 sauce option and I ended up with a Korean style Soy Garlic flavor, even the menu just says 'Garlic'. I'm not big on sweet wings so I didn't love this, but still took some home and ate it just fine. Kimchi Beef Rice ($15ish/4*) Solid sizzling plate, that iron plate comes out blazing and will stay hot for the duration of the meal. I like hot food but this is just too hot for me, as you have to eat super slow til the very end. And because the food is so hot and the pan is thermally hot, it just makes for a sweaty out. Do I really want that for a relaxing meal? But the beef quality is pretty good and caramelizes so easily on that hot pan. I do have to season the beef at the table, but there are so many things to amp that flavor up. And to take a bite of crisp beef with a bite of crisp buttered rice is quite an epic bite I have to admit. And the kimchi adds just enough acidity to brighten things up. This may be my future anchor dish here. Rib Eye ($23ish/4*) This is more of premium beef dish here. The beef here also sizzles to an awesome deep crusty brown, but instead of thin slices of beef, this is a whole albeit thin steak of ribeye. They do slice it before putting it on the iron so you won't have to do any significant cutting at the table. This was also more seasoned than the sliced beef from the other dish, not sure why. The beef flavor was okay, more water-y tho than beef-y. And outside of the first 2 bites, you'll pretty much be eating well done beef. Still juicy but I just rarely eat steak this hot, like putting it in your mouth while it is still cooking. Also the rice comes on the side on this dish so you won't get that crisp crust unless you make room on that tight space and throw rice on the iron yourself. I think I prefer the thin sliced beef for this style of cooking. Grapefruit Tea with Lychee Jelly ($6.50/4*) Good tea tannins that grip, taste like jasmine to me. Not sure how the grapefruit gets in, I'm assuming a syrup of some type. I chose 30% sweet and it was good for me. The lychee jelly sweetens it a lot so under 50% sweet was a good move. It's a big cup and I always have to drink those in 2 servings, which make the price tag more reasonable. Cool spot and close to home. Still gotta try the Hawaiian plates and that sizzling beef plate on occasion, maybe on a cold day where a thawing out would prove comfortable. read more

I ordered the grilled eel rice. I enjoyed the sauce on the grilled eel rice. The dish was very hearty yet filling. I came here to Tao's Fresh at the last minute for lunch. I enjoyed the grilled eel rice plate from first visit, yet I ordered a different variation - golden eel rice plate. I know there is fried egg however egg is acceptable to eat on Fridays during Lent. (FYI I don't make the rules when it comes what you can eat or can't eat during Lent). I also ordered seasoned calamari to keep with eating fish or seafood during Lent. The seasoned calamari was OK, nothing special. What is unique about the golden eel rice is the dish is served in a sizzling bowl. You can hear the eggs frying on the sizzling bowl. Eating the hot egg yolk with the rice and grilled eel provided a different texture than the grilled eel rice. I preferred the golden eel rice over the grilled eel rice. If I can eat eggs as a loophole during Fridays on Lent then the golden eel rice is a guilty dish to have without feeling guilty. read more

True story. There my legs dangled out of my car as it sat idle inside my garage. Should I make a meal or grab one. I couldn't move. Came with my previous manager! Was a fan. FOOD: The beef sizzling hot plates are BIG YUM. I had the beef and kimchi hot plate, which came out sizzling and still cooking. I managed to eat it all because it was so delicious! SERVICE: You order (and pay) through the QR code on the table. The server really only came over to bring out the food and water. I didn't really mind it, although I do hate seeing menus via my phone and ordering through QR codes. AMBIANCE: Super casual and nice enough. VALUE: Quite good! This place was delicious! Came here with a friend who recommended it and I would definitely come back. We ordered the curry beef cheese rice and the chicken katsu. The flavor of the beef cheese rice was so unique as it cooks right in front of you so you can choose how rare or cooked you want your meat.
