Came here for lunch on a weekday. There was only one lady working tables and orders. There wasn't anyone dining in. People were seated at tables waiting for their to-go orders. I waited a few minutes before being acknowledged and then seated. Then waited another few minutes before she took my order. I ordered the chicken curry lunch special which came with a salad. The food came out really quick after I ordered. The portion was just right. The curry was yummy. The rice was a little undercooked. The chicken was okay. They used white meat; so if you eat it with the sauce it wasn't too dry. (I personally prefer dark meat or tender meat). The potatoes in the curry was nice. Be aware that either the price went up versus what the menu says OR their system's calculation is incorrect. I was charged $12.30 after taxes but before tips. If the chicken curry lunch special shows $10.95 and sales tax in Union City is 10.75%, the receipt should've said $12.13 before tips.

3.5! My bf was excited to try this place since the daly city one closed and he said it's the exact same! We got the ribs, the garlic short ribs, tom yum soup and pad see ew. I give it a 3.5 because it was good but it wasn't anything I haven't tasted before. It definitely tastes homemade but there was no "wow this is bomb" factor to any of it. My bf loved the ribs! We'll be coming back to try more. The waiter was nice and attentive. Restaurant was empty when we came but a lot of to-gos. We also went at like 530 so not dinner time yet. Love the cultural decor!

Solid choice. Thai food seems to be the most expensive Asian food but what can I say it's good stuff. We needed a to go order for a quick get together and the service was fast and friendly. The portions were not the big, so we weren't stuffed. Taste-wise, it hit the spot but no stand-outs or phenomenal dishes. Did not dine in but there were a few parties inside. Definitely old and in need of a reno or deep clean, but the stickiness of it all adds to the charm.

The reason why I've rated this 3 and not 2 is because if wer'e talking about the food itself, it would've been a 5. The pad thai, crab fried rice, yellow curry, and the pork spare ribs all tasted amazing. The service on the other hand, I would rate it a 1.5. We got to the restaurant around 4 P.M which was when it said it was reopened. They weren't ready at 4:40 and my family and I had to wait a couple more minutes. When we were finally able to sit down, it felt like the staff who served us was upset at us and felt very hostile throughout the time we were there. I think the most disappointing part is that we had told her that one of us had a peanut allergy and to not include it in the two orders of pad Thai we ordered and she still did. Several of us let her know about the allergy and still added it to both dishes. So if you're there for the food, I'd recommend it but for the dine in experience, I would not recommend that.

Hidden gem for sure!!!! So good, so affordable, and generously portioned. The Beef Panang Curry was one of the best I've had. So flavorful with so many chunks of tender beef inside. Absolutely loved the tender chicken Sate as well as the dearest crab cakes serve freshly hot. Forgot to take a picture, but the spicy basil fried rice was so good too and they give so much! Prices are very affordable. Very casual, hole-in-the-wall spot. Service was just okay, but the food was the star. Will definitely be back when i'm craving authentic and affordable thai with generous portions.

I've been here multiple times and the food quality is very consistent! The pad thai and pad see ew are very yummy and flavored well. I wasn't as big of a fan of the wonton soup though (came off very peppery) and also have tried one of their chicken entree dishes and a vegetable dish. They were only okay and not something I would recommend from here. Their best is the noodles! Service was good. Usually we see the same guy working and he's always nice and quick with the service. Very attentive! Store dining area itself is also okay, no complaints. It's definitely not the newest restaurant, just about average. Only complaint is the bathroom is tucked away and theres a lot in the way to get there

    Pad Thai chicken

Ordered chicken pad Thai last night at 8:30pm, to go. The chicken is hard and dry like a jerky, the noodles are deep red-brown and is super salty. The tofu is burnt dry-crisp. This is not edible! Wasted $16

When I was a kid living in Los Angeles, we used to go to The Thai Original BBQ on 3rd and Ardmore. That restaurant put Thai food on the US map. I am so happy that they opened a branch here in Union City. The food here really brings me back to when I was a kid. Having lunch/dinner with family and friends. The food here is good. The service is ok (considering there was only one person running the dining floor.) Once we ordered the food came quickly. The ambiance is casual, homey. Great for families, friends, and even date lunch or dinners.

Other than price point, this place is just okay. The beef Panang curry lacked complexity and the noodle dish was very plain. My water glass also remained empty the whole time.

    Inedible chicken breast.

Terrible experience. Bad service. We wanted to order 3 different appetizers but they brought two orders of one of the appetizers and claimed that we asked for two orders. There was only one waitress. She never smiled once and seemed mad the entire time. The food was okay, not great. The chicken in the curry was big chunks of chicken breast, very dry, flavorless, and chewy. No one could swallow it. We told the waitress and were told that's how they make it. I guess that's tough! A lot of times the waitress sets the mood for the evening, and it was just not enjoyable. This was my second time visiting and would also be the last time. Then I remember the first time was a similar experience, the appetizer sampler also was very dry, food was over fried.

I ordered the garlic pork and it tasted plain, the woman working at the register was rude, she ignored me a few times as i was asking to use the bathroom before i left with my pickup. So i just went without her ok . Then she gave me attitude when i asked for utensils, I will not be returning to eat here or recommending this spot to anyone. Bathroom was also nasty

I've came here before but this time I'm honestly disappointed the food wasn't as good and one of the potato's in the yellow curry wasn't fully cooked. The Thai tea tasted different I can't describe it exactly but as if it was expired. The fresh roll sauce was super gingery this time. In terms of the service this is where my disappointment came from it was really busy so we didn't get to have much service but the food came out quickly. When I went to pay with my gf's card I wrote 0 for the tip as it wasn't my card so I didn't want to add anything for the tip without asking my gf if she had cash. I handed over the receipt and the lady grabbed it and stared at it and asked me why I didn't tip. I was so shocked by this question I couldn't even respond not once have I ever been asked that before. She also said next time just order to go instead. The last time I came here it was a different lady and she was very sweet but I'm not sure the name of this lady and because of this I have to give a 1 star review. I wouldn't want anyone coming in and being questioned on tipping.

It was a lunch plate combo from all four of us. The food was great. Food: 3.5 Portion: 4 Service: 4 Price: 4 Great for small party or family gathering, easy to find parking.

Does this place still make and serve Mee Krob? I can't find any place in the tri-city area that does.

You can always ask them to make you Mi Krop :).. Call in and ask before going.

We are not doing indoor dining yet.

Thai Original BBQ vs Thai Kitchen? What are the differences and your recommendations?

I never been to Thai Kitchen and probably will never go there as long as Thai OBBQ is still standing. TOBBQ offers great quality food for a reasonable price. I swear I can't find a place who's prices are the same as TOBBQ that are actually worth it.… Read more

Order at the counter and sit and enjoy kind of place. It's decorated simply with a tv that was playing ufc and we were welcomed by Tim who was so warm and hilarious our entire visit. First thing I noticed was how fairly priced the place is. 1lb of brisket is 30 dollars, potato salad is 5 dollars and soda is 2 dollars (some places charge like 4 bucks for a can!) Ordered, sat down and enjoyed some convo with the order and our food came out in about 10min. If there's one thing to get, it's the brisket fries!! Oh my word, the sauce and cheese all go so well with the bbq. I like how their sauce has a kick to it and isn't overly sweet. The brisket was really tender and smoked well. I personally enjoy fattier pieces of brisket but I bet if I would've asked for those cuts he might've accommodated. The smoked potatoes salad is almost a must. Very unique style of potato salad and pairs well with everything. We noticed they also do catering, and the prices for that also look very reasonable. Would definitely considering using them for our next party!

A Place I Keep Coming Back To…read more I've been to Texas Roadhouse many times over the years--I just never remembered to take photos until this visit. For me, Texas Roadhouse isn't about finding the most expensive or most luxurious steak. It's about getting together with family or friends, enjoying a cold beer, sharing great appetizers, and having a relaxed meal without breaking the bank. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a classic American steakhouse. It's lively, energetic, and always feels welcoming. I also love the open kitchen and the hand-cut steak display when you walk in. Watching the staff prepare fresh steaks adds to the whole experience. One thing I miss is the old bucket of complimentary peanuts. They now come in individual bags, which is definitely cleaner and more hygienic, but I do miss that old-school Texas Roadhouse tradition. The warm fresh-baked rolls with cinnamon butter are still incredible. Honestly, I could probably eat an entire basket before my entrée arrives. My must-order items every single visit: Steak The steaks are consistently good. Are they premium steakhouse quality? No. But they're cooked well, seasoned properly, and offer excellent value for the price. That's exactly why I keep coming back. Cactus Blossom (The Giant Onion Appetizer) This is an absolute MUST. It's surprisingly difficult to find restaurants that serve an onion appetizer this size anymore. Most places either offer onion rings or a much smaller blooming onion. Texas Roadhouse's Cactus Blossom is enormous, beautifully presented, and fried to a perfect golden crisp. Every petal stays crunchy while the onion inside remains sweet and tender. Pair it with their signature dipping sauce, and it's the perfect appetizer to share over drinks. If you're visiting for the first time, don't skip it. It has become one of the signature dishes that keeps me ordering it every visit. Fried Catfish Another item I highly recommend. Crispy on the outside, moist and flaky inside, and surprisingly light. It goes perfectly with a cold beer and good conversation. Loaded Baked Potato Simple but done right--loaded with sour cream, cheddar cheese, bacon bits, and butter. Comfort food at its best. One thing that deserves special recognition is the service. Every visit, the servers have been friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Drinks are refilled before you even have to ask, and they frequently check in without being intrusive. Great service makes a huge difference, and the staff here consistently delivers. They're absolutely the kind of servers who deserve a generous tip. At the end of the day, Texas Roadhouse isn't trying to compete with high-end steakhouses--and that's perfectly fine. It knows exactly what it is: a fun, casual American steakhouse where people gather to enjoy good food, cold beer, and great company. The steak is consistently good, the portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, the service is excellent, and the overall experience keeps me coming back. I'll definitely be back again. Highly recommended.

Oddly enough, sides are the Achilles' heel of BBQ restaurants here in The Bay, but Capelo's does it right. The beans in particular were fantastic; creamy, soft, and full of flavor. The Brussels Sprouts were also another standout; perfectly fried with tons of flavor. * Ribs were deliciously smoky and full of flavor from the rub. * Chicken was also done right, and that's probably because they use dark meat--as they should. Never order white meat from a BBQ place; I can almost guarantee it'll be caca. * Loved the complimentary pickles and pickled onions. * Jalapeño-Cheese Sausage was outstanding, as well; juicy and great flavor. * Weekend special Dino Bone (beef rib) was spectacular!
