We wanted to try someplace different and this place is close by to my sister's house in the parking lot where Island Pacific is. There are lots of parking spaces in this lot. The signage was missing as they are refacing the storefront signs. It is right next to the dry cleaners. We sat in a cozy booth and ordered Thai iced tea, woon sen, Pad Thai with chicken and Pad See Ew with beef and gravy. We decided to share the dishes family style and enjoyed the woon sen and Pad Thai; however Pad See Ew took a long time to come out and it was a-ok, not much flavor but had big pieces of beef and broccoli. There was only one server and for the most part, when we needed her to bring hot tea (as the tea wasn't hot), she was not visible. We understand it is busy but have a look and see. The food is so good and hate to see the cleanliness in detail is not a priority and may loose business. Came here for lunch on a weekday. There was only one lady working tables and orders. There wasn't anyone dining in. People were seated at tables waiting for their to-go orders. I waited a few minutes before being acknowledged and then seated. Then waited another few minutes before she took my order. I ordered the chicken curry lunch special which came with a salad. The food came out really quick after I ordered. The portion was just right. The curry was yummy. The rice was a little undercooked. The chicken was okay. They used white meat; so if you eat it with the sauce it wasn't too dry. (I personally prefer dark meat or tender meat). The potatoes in the curry was nice. Be aware that either the price went up versus what the menu says OR their system's calculation is incorrect. I was charged $12.30 after taxes but before tips. If the chicken curry lunch special shows $10.95 and sales tax in Union City is 10.75%, the receipt should've said $12.13 before tips. read more

3.5! My bf was excited to try this place since the daly city one closed and he said it's the exact same! We got the ribs, the garlic short ribs, tom yum soup and pad see ew. I give it a 3.5 because it was good but it wasn't anything I haven't tasted before. It definitely tastes homemade but there was no "wow this is bomb" factor to any of it. My bf loved the ribs! Solid choice. Thai food seems to be the most expensive Asian food but what can I say it's good stuff. We needed a to go order for a quick get together and the service was fast and friendly. The reason why I've rated this 3 and not 2 is because if wer'e talking about the food itself, it would've been a 5. The pad thai, crab fried rice, yellow curry, and the pork spare ribs all tasted amazing. The service on the other hand, I would rate it a 1.5. We got to the restaurant around 4 P.M which was when it said it was reopened. They weren't ready at 4:40 and my family and I had to wait a couple more minutes. When we were finally able to sit down, it felt like the staff who served us was upset at us and felt very hostile throughout the time we were there. I think the most disappointing part is that we had told her that one of us had a peanut allergy and to not include it in the two orders of pad Thai we ordered and she still did. Several of us let her know about the allergy and still added it to both dishes. Hidden gem for sure!!!! So good, so affordable, and generously portioned. The Beef Panang Curry was one of the best I've had. So flavorful with so many chunks of tender beef inside. Absolutely loved the tender chicken Sate as well as the dearest crab cakes serve freshly hot. Forgot to take a picture, but the spicy basil fried rice was so good too and they give so much! I've been here multiple times and the food quality is very consistent! The pad thai and pad see ew are very yummy and flavored well. I wasn't as big of a fan of the wonton soup though (came off very peppery) and also have tried one of their chicken entree dishes and a vegetable dish. They were only okay and not something I would recommend from here. Their best is the noodles! Service was good. Usually we see the same guy working and he's always nice and quick with the service. Love this spot! Their pricing is really affordable for the bay. Their pad Kee mao with meat is about $12 and comes with tons of noodles. I just wish they added more veggies bc I'm a veggies person haha. It's a quaint hole in the wall spot next to island pacific. I came here on 130 on a random weekday. I placed my takeout order and got my food in 20 minutes, so I highly recommend calling in ahead of time. The noodles were delicious, nicely well seasoned and sauced. I have to admit through my own fault, I've been sleepin' on Thai BBQ. I've seen it a million times, and I know they've been around forever. I came with my family to celebrate my mom's birthday. We had a party of 11. restaurant was able to accommodate us, no problem. They also took very good care of us. My mom found a piece of plastic in her rice and we weren't comped for her meal and my rice had traces of red spice when there wasn't any spice in my dish to begin with. One of my all-time favorite dishes is pad Thai, and we asked the staff to make it extra spicy, which they did perfectly. The dishes were very authentic and delicious. We started with the Papaya Salad, a sweet, sour, salty mixture of shredded papaya/carrots with green beans, tomatoes, cabbage, shrimp, and crushed peanuts, all in a fish sauce dressing. The Monster was an amusingly named dish made of grilled shrimp mixed with lime juice, chili paste, cucumber, onion, and herbs, served over a bed of chopped lettuce. Finally, we had to try the Kai Yang, or BBQ chicken, a half grilled chicken served with a sweet and sticky house sauce and shrimp fried rice. The chicken was disappointingly flavorless and slightly burnt on the outside, and while it was fine for grilled chicken, there wasn't anything "Thai" about it. I usually get BBQ Chicken Dinner. It comes with shrimp fried rice with their special sauce. The place is really nice too though they should start replacing old lightbulbs with new ones. It's pretty dim here, but doesn't really change the fact that this restaurant is good for eating. Staff are very friendly when they use simple greetings to say hi to customers. I ordered the cashew tofu; it is indicated as spicy on the menu, but since I avoided eating the chiles themselves, I found it pretty mild and manageable. The sauce is strong and flavorful, actually maybe a little too salty if you're getting it a la carte without any rice or other carb like I did but I did think it tasted great. The tofu is nicely fried and there is a lot of bell pepper and onion as well. My partner ordered Thai BBQ chicken a la carte, and thye thought it was pretty decent as well.
