    Thai Iced Tea
    Mel S.

Service and Staff: - All staff were kind and attentive Food and Drinks: - Thai Iced Tea: always a classic - this one was a little sweeter than I'm used to, but it was still good - Yellow Curry (with chicken): I'm not a coconut fan, but I was a fan of this dish. We ordered it with a side of white rice (enough for one person, but we split it to both get some). I would definitely order this again - Pad Thai (with beef): I would also order this dish again. Comes with a solid amount and it was tasty Miscellaneous: - Plenty of parking via a shared parking lot with other businesses - Good for small and large groups - Saw a good amount of kids here, so good for families - Casual ambiance that wasn't too loud, which was nice

4 stars Came to Sala Thai and had a really great experience overall! The food came out fresh, flavorful, and with generous portions. The yellow curry was rich, creamy, and comforting with tender chicken and just the right amount of spice. Paired with the jasmine rice, it was super satisfying and full of flavor. We also ordered the Pad Thai and really enjoyed it. The noodles had a great texture, the sauce was balanced nicely between sweet and savory. It tasted fresh and made to order. The service was amazing throughout the meal -- everyone was friendly, attentive, and checked on us often to make sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant had a cozy and welcoming vibe that made the experience even better.

Crispy Eggplant with Seafood, Pumpkin Curry, Kang Jerd Soup

Mother's Day dinner at Sala Thai. Doesn't seem like we had the most original idea because the place was packed! However, we were gladly met with a wait-time of only five minutes. Seemed like takeout orders were just as busy as the dine-in option! Ordered online through the QR code, though it seemed like we had the option to order in-person when a server came up to our table. However, we were able to pay online as well, which was a nice time saver. We are regulars and have already developed our favorites: Crispy Fish, Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Crab Fried Rice, Green Curry. We wanted to mix things up a little and order things we have never gotten before, and we have now developed new favorites! The Pumpkin Curry was my favorite: the pumpkin offering a nice sweetness and texture. The Eggplant dish came with a piece of crispy fish which was to our surprise! The seafood (shrimp, squid, scallops) was an interesting combination with the fatty eggplant. Probably my least favorite of the three as it seemed a little incohesive, though we appreciated the sauce being in a separate bowl as to not make the eggplant soggy. The Kang Jerd soup was delightfully light and full of briny, full flavored broth. My mom's favorite by far. She is usually reluctant to take the last serving/portion when eating family style. Not with the soup! The fact that we chose three seemingly random items on the menu and having each of them be winners is just a testament to how solid the food is here at Sala Thai!

Crispy fish w/garlic sauce (5/5): fish itself was nothing special but the sweet garlic sauce was fantastic Red curry w/pork (5/5) Satay chicken (4/5): not as smoky & flavorful as other places

This is still my go to Thai place on FREMONT. They have the best Thai food. I have tried many items but my go to order is always the same. Chicken fried rice, padseeew, sala Thai fried chicken (the garlic sauce is addictive), and cucumber salad. These are my staples and they never disappoint. Consistency is key!

Love this restaurant's cozy diner vibes and solid Thai food. Service is quick and friendly as well. I know why this has been a Fremont staple! The pineapple fried rice was fragrant with turmeric which we loved. Also loved the cashews and raisins which made the whole dish so fun! The green curry was great as well and full of veggies and protein. We also got the crispy fish which came so fresh and was delicious with the sweet tangy sauce. I also ordered a Thai tea which was solid!

Everything we ate was amazing. I've never had sole made this way, it was so crispy and the sauce was delicious. The pad Thai, mango chicken and the basil fried rice was off the hook. And probably the best angel wings I've ever eaten.

We stopped in for a quick dinner. The place was still crowded on a weeknight with about 50 minutes before closing. Pad Thai: Stir fried thin rice noodle with egg, tofu, onion, bean sprout and choice of meat (chicken) topped with ground peanut (4/5). Saucy and sweet. Crispy Fish with Sweet Garlic Sauce: Battered and deep fried filet rex sole topped with sala thai sweet garlic sauce (5/5). Jasmine Rice. The staff told us to wait several minutes for a table. No problem. The strange part was that the main dining area was full but the other section was free. After she had done a few takeout orders, she said the table is ready and seated us in the open section where there were other customers already. The wait was unnecessary IMO.

I tried takeout from here on a Friday evening. I got the spring rolls, drunken noodles and red curry. I love the spring rolls from here. The crunch..the filling.. amazing Spring Rolls from here are a must try. The drunken noodles and curry is a good combo. I was feeling adventurous so I tried the medium spice and boy was it spicy. But it was spicy good The noodles were well cooked, the veggies were crunchy and cooked and the sauce was delicious Overall - Sala Thai is a must visit place

Whenever I want Thai food I'm always ordering from Sala Thai. Their service for did down meals is excellent and when I order to go food it's always the same quality as if I were to eat there. I often order their green curry, pad see ew, and pineapple fried rice. You can even request the spiciness level for each of these dishes too.

this place did not disappoint was craving thai food and this place had so much on their menu! -fried chicken 10/10 (so crunchy) -bbq beef 7/10 (texture was a bit dry but the sauce was v good) -pad thai 9/10 (sauce tasted super rich but i def like mine juicier) -basil fried rice non-spicy (seasoned so well and a classic)

Visited with my friend, service was very friendly and quick! I would definitely come back again to try their other traditional Thai dishes.

    Pumpkin Curry and Mussuman Beef
    Pete A.

Decided to have a midweek lunch with my wife. I couldn't think of where she reminded me of Sala Thai. An instant yes for me. We came in at about 1145 and there was plenty of seating we were greeted and seated right away. My wife ordered the pumpkin curry and I ordered the Mussuman beef. She had hot tea. I had Thai iced tea. Both were flavorful with portions we weren't able to finish so he took some home. This place has been here for a while because the food and service is good. That being said the interior is pretty dated and could use an upgrade. Also, we had to pay extra if we wanted rice, which was four dollars each for the Brown. Rush usually/used to come automatically with most dishes at most Asian restaurants. $60 for two for lunch. Times have changed. Will still be back though

What kind of fish do the use for the crispy fish with garlic sauce ? Just wondering cause I really love it.

It is normally made with catfish at other Thai restaurants.

If you dine in, do they still serve the food in to go containers?

I only get take out. The last time I ate there was pre-pandemic.

Are they open for dining now?

    Yes

    Is it Halal?

No not this location, but Sala Thai 3 warm springs location is halal.

Are they open for dine-in? They aren't responding to the call.

They are doing self serve in door dining. Essentially, you find a table number, you order up front, they bring the food to you in to go containers but give you disposable plates and utensils to eat there. They currently have no servers.

My friends would like to meet up here on the weekend. Is there outdoor dining on regular, NON-holidays? (Today is 11/26/20)

No indoor and outdoor dining. Take out only.

    Is there an outdoor dining?

Do you guys do party trays?

    Yes

Is this location halal or regular?

Sala Thai 2 is halal but not this one.

    Do u guys do delivery?

They are no longer on Door Dash

We started with the One Piece Mixed Salad (tofu skin, vermicelli noodles, woodear mushrooms, carrots, celery, seaweed, and peanuts, all mixed in a savory, acidic, and spicy dressed ) and the Shredded Potato Salad, both of which made for nice appetizers. We also had the Cold Skin Noodles (Liangpi), a bowl of wide, chewy noodles mixed with a savory sauce and topped with tofu puffs, shredded cucumber , bean sprouts, and a creamy sesame sauce. Hailing from Xi'an, the Braised Pork Pita Burger was fatty pieces of pork braised in a savory sauce, served in a dry round of "pita," but even better was the Spicy Cumin Lamb Pita Burger, which contained a tantalizingly spicy, flavorful filling of tender spiced lamb. The Signature Beef Bone Noodle Soup came with noodles in a simple broth, topped with three bone-in beef ribs. The meat on the ribs was rather tough and sinewy, and the soup on the bland side, but the presentation of the dish was definitely impressive. Finally, the House Special Braised Dry Noodle was a bowl of noodles topped with a savory sauce with lots of different dried ingredients including tofu, s mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and red bell peppers. For each noodle dish, you could select from a variety of noodles, but my favorite by far was the 2cm "General Wide" noodles, which had an amazing chewy texture. Overall, this was a great restaurant for authentic Northern Chinese noodle dishes and other eats. Everything came out from the kitchen in just minutes after we ordered. The tasty dishes came at a good value, and the service was super friendly too!

There seems to have some menu change since the last time we came. We ordered 2 dry noodles and a cold spicy pig ears appetizer. The pig ears were piled up with no fillers - something hard to find these days. You can select the type of noodles so I picked the widest while my husband picked the middle one. I love the el dente texture of the noodles giving it a bit of chew. My braised pork belly dry noodles was not dry... very watery which was not to my liking. I want my dry noodles with as little gravy as possible. The flavor was light despite all the gravy, but the veggies and one egg made it up. The house special dry noodles had just the right amount of gravy for taste but not enough ingredients. I was wondering why the restaurant is called One Piece... I guess the entire bowl of noodles is one piece noodle as it was hard to eat as all the noodles are tangled. No complaints here just need to be careful with the splashes on your shirt. Overall the food was good, service was decent as we were offered actual menu instead of only using QR code to order. The place was not small with plenty of table. A bit noise as with all Chinese restaurants.

The staff here is all business, and honestly? I love them for it. It just means fewer interruptions when you're having a deeply emotional moment with your soup. Because the second your bowl hits the table, you realize this place is something special. The hand-pulled noodles are an absolute revelation. They are masterfully prepared, fresh ribbons of dough that have that perfect, elusive chewiness you only get from people who have turned noodle-making into a legitimate art form. Then there's the broth. It is deeply savory, complex, and tastes like it's been simmering with ancient secrets and a whole lot of love. It's the kind of soul-warming soup that instantly cures a bad day. But whatever you do, you must order the spicy wontons. Calling them "divine" honestly feels like a slight understatement. Honestly it tastes like a kind of instant Korean cold noodles I always eat in summer. The takoyaki of octopus balls are a type of Japanese snack I think, and it is very popular in the Asian countries as night market food. I actually had never tried it so I really could not compare. They are deep fried balls of what tasted like mashed potatoes wrapped Octopus tentacles . Topped with shaved bonitos. Tasked okay... The hot and sour sauerkraut noodles with snakehead fish was really good... if you like Chinese pickled cabbage. The soup base was not red at all so it gives a false sense that it was not spicy. It actually had a nice kick, but not the chilly hot kick, but the green peppercorn numbing sense of burn. The soup was very flavorful and the fish slices were good. I don't know what is snakehead fish but it tasted like flounder but firmer. There were pieces of both regular tofu and fried tofu, as well as a couple of quail eggs. The decoration was simple with cute fish lights dangling from the ceiling and display if the noodles from different grains. I understand they are under a soft opening still but unfortunately it is not the same! I feel like it is misleading to keep the same name because people expect the old Bing's taste and quality. We ordered the beef roll, chili oil shrimp dumpling, potstickers, braised beef noodle, shrimp fried rice, and xlb. It was off to a very sad start when we got the beef pancake rolls. Usually these should be wrapped in chinese scallion pancake but it was rolled in what looked to be a tortilla and it was served cold. Usually the scallion pancake is fried so it is hot. Also usually some hoisin sauce is used inside the roll but this one had no sauce. There was a dipping sauce that looked like some sort of bean based sauce on the side with oil separated but it just made me wonder if they even know what is authentic for the dish. The braised beef noodle was expected to have more soup but the owner explained that it is a braised beef noodle and if they had added the word soup in the name it would have had more soup in it. Not sure I agree with explanation because there was soup in the bowl just not a lot of it. The noodles were not the same handmade ones that the old Bing's used to serve and the flavor was pretty bland. The xlb were okay but not the same either. Something seems to be missing and was also bland. Usually the chili oil wontons have a little peanut flavor to them in the sauce but this one did not and also tasted bland. I think there was supposed to be pork in there too but there wasn't much pork and 1 shrimp inside each wonton. The shrimp fried rice was fine. My kids liked it but it is hard to mess that up tbh. I think it was just disappointing because we expected the old Bing's experience because the name is the same but our experience this time was not that at all. The people there seemed to be open to the feedback and we shared all this feedback with them in person as well.
