Dredge Harbor Marina, however, was a very welcoming and pleasant surprise. It's located in a very unassuming, small town USA. Dredge Harbor empties into the Delaware River. We had a great afternoon on our SUP exploring the area where the boats docked and even making our way near the Delaware. There was a bit of boat traffic and jet skiers in the River, so it was a bit too daunting for me to actually go into the River. Dredge Harbor was a nice change of pace compared to going to the Jersey Shore to SUP.

Luckily we brought water! Don't forget to bring water , bug spray, and sunscreen if you come when it is sunny! Amico Island State Park is a beautiful, stunning isolated park. Since it is isolated, there is a lot of different wildlife that can be seen all over the island. My boyfriend and I saw butterflies, ducks, mushrooms, reeds, grasses, and more. There were also birds that could be heard in the trees. There was not as many birds as expected though that might have been due to the heat. We also didn't see any deer but probably for the same reason. There were many bugs, so be prepared for that if you do come. There is one main trail which is very easy to follow as well as side trails. About halfway through the trial, there is a viewpoint which is great for photos and enjoying the scenery. This park is great for hikers, birders, nature photographers and much more! I would totally recommend!

Overall, it was such a peaceful and serene setting, especially by the water, and the many sweet smelling honeysuckle paths. The park is basically a 2mi loop which took me about 35 mins to complete from beginning to end, with a couple stops for pics, and to take it all in. I only noticed one other person when I started, but as I was leaving, quite a few groups were arriving. So if you want to avoid crowds maybe early is best, or an afternoon start for those who want a lot of company.

There were only 5 of us, so plenty of time to climb. Our Guide, Bob, was so patient, engaged and informative. I learned a lot of great things that I had not known before about clothing, ropes and technique. Bob was so patient with me and was there with his " green pointer" to help me over the tough spots. You should know that I am 74 years old and tho I have climbed indoors for a few years, my stamina was not that of the youngsters who were there! Nonetheless, it was a great time! The guides were patient and helpful with the small group in getting gear on and going over all the safety equipment. They were never impatient with anyone and insanely kind. You could tell the guides truly enjoyed bringing everyone out to this amazing trail at Ricketts Glen State Park. I wasn't sure what to expect but OMG it was worth the money spent to have these guys/gals guide me through the trails. It was a…read morevery straightforward set up - check in and get your life vests, take their shuttle bus to the starting point on the river, get whatever style tube you paid for (we chose tubes with backrests and one cooler tube), and get out on the water! We slowly floated down the river, listened to music on our small portable speaker, swam around, made a short stop along a rocky bank at the edge of the water, and got to the end point after just over 3 hours. We got the shuttle bus back to the Twin Rivers office to drop off the life vests, then went back to our car in the parking deck right across the street. Very simple, and lots of fun!
