I was able to go back today to give this place another chance. The booking and arrival was smooth again with no issues. I noticed in the relaxation/waiting area, the owner had taken my recommendation to remove the pillows in an effort to really begin the relaxation experience. It felt a lot nicer to me as there was a Buddha statue and it looked like some rolling items to assist with the massage. I loved the change. Today I tried the salt room therapy. It was my first time and I was a little lost at the beginning but def got in the groove and relaxed during that time. I would recommend this service be used after the massage instead of before, but I chose before due to availability and it was still a nice experience. I had Alicia today as my massage therapist and she was AHHHHHHHMazing!! She found muscles I didn't know needed to be worked. She is def up the chart on therapists I would revisit! I also noted on this visit Alicia made sure I got my full 90 minutes of massage time and that made me so happy! This visit totally made up for my previous visit and I would not hesitate to book again. I also noted some awesome July specials and plan on keeping an eye open for future to special to use. I am so happy that the owner reached out to me and encouraged me to give this place another chance. The owner obviously cares about her business and experiences people have here. It is an older place than I am used to however it was clean and inviting. The Salt room was perfect. It was exactly what I've been looking for since we moved. Laying on the heated jade mats and breathing that salt air was super healing. Didn't want to leave. I will be back again to experience the different modality's offered there. This place is simply amazing. Husband and I had scheduled a couples massage a few weeks back and we are big fans. He had Gabriela as his therapist and I had Etiska. We both had our consultations with each therapist and went through the problem areas, if there's been surgery anywhere, etc.. After the consultation I got to choose the the scent I wanted and chose to mix mint and rose oils. The whole experience was so soothing that we felt like we were on cloud 9 when we left. We are most definitely coming back, although we will probably do separate sessions instead of a couples session next time so there's more privacy and we don't bother the other person (more relaxing that way I think). As much as I would love to support this local company o was disappointed with the facility. I bought a salt sauna treatment and the sauna was broken, I came back again and it still wasn't hot. I told the desk and they didn't offer anything for my time or service that didn't work twice. The facility is very clean, the staff is friendly and the massage was great by Gay. Got the 5 infrared body wrap package via Groupon. 4 of 5 experiences were great. One of my treatments took place next to the very noisy salt room which I could hear over music playing from my phone AND the wrap didn't heat up as it should've for about 20 minutes and they extended the time as I was the last appt of the day in that room. They apologized for the noise from the salt room; I just made it point to mention it when I booked my future appointments so they could possibly mitigate those circumstances. Very clean and well-kept facilities with very nice tea/condiment offerings. I had a child-free weekend so I decided to indulge and book a 90mins massage. I called on a holiday weekend thinking they would be either completely booked or short staffed. They were super accommodating to what I needed and matched me with Kelsey. As you walk in it smells relaxing and soothing. The lighting in the waiting room is dem, and relaxing too. After filling out a information sheet I was greeted my Kelsey. We talked about some of my problem areas and things I could do at home to prolong way further discomfort. She worked out every knot in my body. (There were a lot!) The service itself was more for soothing discomfort than relaxing. It was great though the next day. I felt like I stood 3 ft taller. This was a horrible experience. The guy that we tried to book was rude, unknowledgeable and could care less whether you came or not. I think his name was "Troy". I booked a mani/pedi and after sitting through 4 rounds of drying, still within two hours my nails were chipped and pealing. I called the next norming and the technician never responded. I tried to initially book other services but they were not accommodating. Don't waist you money.....service all around is terrible. If I had not had a gift card I would never have gone ......there are too many good salons....AVOID THIS ONE!!!!!! A to Zen was an amazing experience. I have had Rolfing, deep tissue massages for years now and like super intense, deep, deep tissue massage. I honestly can say Dee who is senior massage therapist gave me hands down one of the best deep tissue massages I have ever experienced. This place is amazing!!! I have been there twice; once for an LED treatment ( it left my face looking smooth and pore less) and the second time for a couples massage and another LED treatment. I've had the pleasure of having Rebecca give me the massage as well as the treatment. She is such a sweetheart and warm individual who cares about her work and making her clients happy. This week I had a focus massage by Kelsey and have been so amazed at my results! Its like I have a new upper body! She has amazingly strong hands so she had no problem getting in there and handling the stress. She offered scented massage oils and was a great listener who was concerned with pleasing her clients. The receptionist was very welcoming and started me off with short paper work regarding my health. My masseuse, Dee, sat down with me and went over my concerns and goals for the day and set me up in a cozy and quiet room. My hot stone massage with Dee was great. I also paired my massage with 30 minutes in the infrared salt sauna. The sauna is a private, single person room, but I didn't realize that there is only room to sit upright instead of laying down flat. I am so thankful for the healing hands here! I've been a member of other massage businesses (the chains) and while they were ok, they never really addressed the specific concerns I asked them to work on and I'd always leave disappointed. Not here! Yesterday I discussed the pain I was having with Bonnie and she carefully noted areas that were tender/sore and made sure to focus on those during my massage. She also gave me suggestions for pain relief and healing at home which I really appreciated. I could tell she was well-trained in musculature and also helped me with specific stretches for areas of concern. It was relaxing yet effective in relieving pain by having just enough pressure. I appreciated the customized nature of her massage and will definitely be back. Would also love to try the other therapies they offer like ionic foot bath, infrared salt sauna, etc. Parking lot behind the building offers ample parking and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. I've been massaged in multiple countries and all across the US. Locally I've been partial to a therapist at another spa and she is my birthday and summer treat for myself (the rates are up there but she's worth it). However this review is about my team at A to Zen. I've actually been a follower of Felcia since her Balance Day Spa ownership days. In fact, I still frequent an esthethician I met there under her leadership over 10 years ago. Since then I've been with her at Spalutions and now at A to Zen. Felicia or Jessica typically take care of me either on a monthly basis or a 'pain relief now' basis. This past Monday however I only had a choice of a therapist there I'd seen but never tried, Billy Johnson. Billy has now become one of my TOP referrals for those seeking intuitive, responsive therapy from a genuine soul. Jessica has a unique flow and understanding of her clients that is awesome. Felicia has the experience and wisdom that only comes from years of tried and true study and leadership. Billy is like a 'muscle whisperer' if you will. I saw him at a point in which I'd spent several weeks doing multiple trips to the MD and multiple trips to the Chiropractor only to have moderate pain relief sporadically, three prescriptions, a shot and the promise of visits to an Ortho with possible cortisone/steroid shots down the road. In great pain and in search of relief I scheduled a session with Billy Johnson. I went from having to use pain patches and advil daily combined with muscle relaxers and prescription anti-inflammatory meds at night to 'manage' the pain to being able to suspend the muscle meds for a week and not having to rely on any thing throughout the day. Billy gave me something I hadn't had at all in 2016...a full day with no meds and minimal discomfort. I squeezed in one more visit with him this week before I take off for extended work/family/travel obligations over the next two weeks. However he and the team at A to Zen can rest assured...they will see me soon, and Billy has another 'priority client' to add to his roster. I received a gift card for A to Zen from my sister. Best Christmas present EVER! As soon as I walked in I was greeted and asked if she could get me something to drink. After being shown to the waiting area, a warm neck wrap was placed around my neck to start my afternoon of relaxation. The waiting area is quiet and inviting. Since I was new to the spa, my therapist talked to me about my needs and medical history. Then my 90 minutes of bliss began! The therapist was very professional. When my hot stone massage was finished, I was so relaxed that I actually didn't think I was going to be able to get off the table. Once I was ready to leave, my therapist met me with water and more information about the spa. I have experienced other spas in the past, but this one was superb. Venue was easy to find and I was greeted upon walking in. Reception area was adequate, with tea and small candies available. My appointment was at 6:30 and I arrived at 6:20. I filled out my paper work having been told that, since there was no sports or deep tissue massage available, my therapist, Donald, would discuss my needs in detail with me and create a custom massage. I needed three specific areas worked - to clarify, I have a desk job and am an active runner and rock climber. When I finally met with my therapist, he simply read back to me the areas I wanted worked and asked no further questions. Needless to say I was surprised. My appointment started at 6:45. During the massage, after working my back knots for awhile, unsuccessfully, I think he gave up and moved on. My other huge problem area was my left adductor, which I had strained. It seemed like my therapist didn't know where this muscle was, as I had to point it out to him and show him exactly how taught and swollen it was. He proceeded to not work the correct area. Generally speaking, I had requested that a lot of pressure be applied (as I had requested deep tissue) and he maintained a mild/medium level the entire time. After the massage was over, (at 8; I had made dinner plans for this time) I waited to be checked out. The "check out" area was filled with administrative papers and looked like an office space over a massage studio check out, though there were things available to buy. I was checked out by my therapist, who had difficulty with the computer system and offered no further services. Overall the space was underwhelming and while my therapist was thankfully professional, was not a very good masseuse. I will not be returning. read more
