My advice to every one is RUN, if you really care about quality and respect that is not the plumber to hire. We had them to fix our pop up drain in our bathroom sink, they sent us someone who has no clue what plumbing is, he actually brought us the lowest quality replacement and he could not fix the issue, in addition to that he ruined the other sink in the bath room in a trial to learn how it was assembled so he can copy it to the first one, that is plus the mess he made in the bathroom with out cleaning before leaving, I have pictured every thing and I wish the web site has the image upload capability. This company is an outright con-job who wants to take your money and run. We needed a on/off handle replaced on our water intake in our laundry room (which is a minor repair) which is covered under our home owner's policy. A representative from this company came out and took a quick look at the broken handle and asked for our $75 payment (policy fee) before he even contacted our home policy stating they would want to know that we paid in advance (odd, never had this happen). He then proceeded to contact the home policy company and said the damage was caused by us and not the normal wear and tear of time, which it was. Next thing I know, he comes back and says that it was denied but here is an estimate for $500, if you want us to do the job. I told him I wanted to contact the home owner's policy company to discuss getting the job approved and asked that he wait for me to do this. The guy said that he didn't have time and was out the door with my $75 and said if I want to use his service to call. We feel that he lied to our HOP to purposely get the project denied so he could charge us $500 for them to do the minor repair. When we contacted A-Total corporate office to discuss the matter, the company just put the phone down and we could hear noise in the background as though they were ignoring our concerns or didn't care. We had another plumbing company come out that actually listened to what happened and who confirmed that the problem was indeed due to normal wear and tear. He quickly got the job approved with our home owners policy and he was able to fix the problem in less than an hour. The new plumber also said that this company is notorious for this scenario. Run for the hills..... Needless to say this was an extremely bad experience with this company and if you have a home owner's policy and they recommend using this company, don't waste your time as they will try to get your project denied and try to sell you on their expensive service that another plumber could do at a fraction of the cost and with far more professionalism. read more

I would be leary of this plumbing company. Their plumber came to repair a leaking toilet. When he discovered the tank was leaking, he called my home warranty company and told them it wasn't caused by 'normal wear and tear'...??? I think that's their code for the home warranty company to not cover the repair. A porcelain toilet tank leaks from the inside bottom corner, plumber states it could be a bad porcelain pour, but he said it's not normal wear and tear. .?? He went to get a new tank and came back with a whole new toilet. After I spoke with my home warranty company and found they wanted a second opinion before covering the replacement, I told the plumber I didn't want the toilet installed. He quickly offered to replace for less money than he originally quoted the warrant company. He certainly removed the original toilet quickly while I was on the phone with warranty company..and then said he would put it back but not hook it back up if I didn't want th new toilet. Not a good way of doing business. I think their goal is to get in the house, state the problem is 'not normal wear and tear', then try and charge customer for the repair instead of having the warranty company cover it. read more

Ernie Latimer was the most rude, aggressive and antagonistic service person I think I have ever met. He came into my home barely glancing at my issue both inside and outside took less than five minutes. He then was very argumentative with the customer service person, Tiffany, from American home Shield warranty regarding whether or not this was covered. Without looking at my coverage he insisted from the beginning of the call this was not covered. Initially, Tiffany said it WAS covered after asking, what I thought were very pertinent questions. Four separate times he insisted in a loud and aggressive voice this is not covered. He brow beat her to the point where he asked to speak to her supervisor. Once she said it was covered for the third time (after establishing the access was not covered) Ernie stated he was going to call his owner to tell him it was not a covered item. Once he asked for a supervisor and threatened to call his owner, he convinced her that this was not a covered item. He was confrontational with Tiffany and then when he got off the phone with Tiffany he started in with the same confrontational tone me because I had already started calling my husbands number to tell him what the situation was and he started getting louder and louder with me trying to talk over my conversation with my husband. He thrn throws the paper at me telling me to sign. I said I'm not signing anything today and to get out of my house. He yelled at me all the way to the door stating I was just pissed it wasn't covered. It was covered. He brow beat the customer service rep until she changed her initial decision regarding coverage. She even tried to give him an authorization number and he wouldn't take it. It was the most antagonistic visit I have ever had by a service person. It took 30 minutes for me to stop shaking after he left as this man was so aggressive. I will never ever have this man or this company in my home again. read more

A Total responded to an AHS policy work order we requested for a leaking bathtub drain. The issue ended up being a leaking overflow. The so called "plumber" ordered the parts, but no one bothered to call me to schedule another appointment. I had to call A-Total twice to get the appointment scheduled a week later than what had been discussed. After a few hours, he supposedly had fixed the problem. We tested the bathtub the next day and found that the drain, when closed, was leaking past the plunger so that water would not stay in the bathtub. We didn't even have this problem prior to A-Total coming to "repair" it. I decided to take the overflow cover off to take a look and adjust the plunger if possible. I found plumbers putty completely clogging the inside of the overflow cover. He had not fixed our leak. In fact, he created a safety issue by completely disabling our overflow for the tub. After $25 worth of parts, I fixed it correctly myself with a new overflow gasket and plunger, which is what I thought A Total did. This repair was dishonest and unsafe. Thanks A-Total. read more

I had a technician named Tommy come to my home and he did a fantastic job. He was in and out in about 45 minutes. I had an issue with my water line for refrigerator and he told me what I needed to fix it. He also told me that I could install a food disposal even though I have a septic system. I wish all the plumbers were as helpful as he was. He was honest, and respectful. I will recommend these guys to friends and family. read more

Over a week ago, I submitted a request through AHS because my water heater is not working. On 1/27/2016, a technician arrived, and informing my wife that he would be back the following day with the part(s) to replace them.I did not receive a call or an update the following day. I reached out to A Total Plumbing asking for an update, and was told that the operator can only provide a status to an AHS personnel. I called AHS and through A Total Plumbing, AHS informed me that the technician had to order the part. Few days go by, I do not receive any updates, so I called again. This time, the phone operator informs me that she has to get hold of the technician to obtain a status or the part. 24 hours go by and I do not receive a call, so I called again asking for an update, and the phone operator informs me that the technician has not gotten back to her. I called for the 3rd time only to find out that an order was never placed, but the technician had to go pick up the part from a warehouse in Atlanta. I was told by the manager that I would get a call by end of day. I did not receive a call, so I followed up myself, and this time,, the part was not available in the warehouse and that they had to overnight it. It's been over a week with no hot water and a very incompetent team of A Total Plumbing employees who can't seem to resolve a simple problem within their area of expertise. I would never recommend A Total Plumbing after this experience, and I have filed a formal complaint with AHS. read more

I had an emergency plumbing issue yesterday that was so bad that I had to file an insurance claim. The insurance adjuster referred me to a water remediation company who referred me to A-Total. The person at A-Total plumbing said they could fit me in earlier than the other plumber I had previously contacted, so I cancelled the other appointment to go with A-Total. After they cashed me at 1:30 to reschedule my appointment of 12-2 and changing it to 2-4, they apparently later cancelled my new appointment without telling me, but instead apparently told the person from the water remediation company who referred me that they had to cancel. Since I thought the plumber was coming by 4, I sat and waited for hours. I finally called A-Total around 4:30, only for Savannah, who I'd talked to twice now, to inform me that she had to cancel and she let the man who referred me from the water remediation company know that she was cancelling. When I asked why she didn't call me, she said because she called the other man. I informed her that she had REALLY put me in a tight spot by not informing ME, THE CUSTOMER, that she was cancelling, because it was now almost 5pm on a Friday night, the week before Christmas. She did not seem remorseful at all, so I asked to speak with her boss, HOPING they could find SOMEONE to make this right since I'd taken off work AND cancelled an appointment with another company to go with them, AND sat around all day waiting, only for Savannah to tell me that she is the manager. She never ONCE tried to make it right and continued defending herself by saying she informed the man who referred me to them that they had to cancel. I would NEVER have imagined a nightmare of a breakdown in communication by a "company", let alone expect the lack of professionalism and communication from the MANAGER. I do NOT recommend this company and can't stress enough how unhappy I am with their lack of service. I ended up calling FIVE plumbing companies before FINALLY finding one that could come out that late and had to pay after hours rates. This ALSO delayed the water drying process since they can't start until the leak is fixed, and I now have to change my travel arrangements all because of Savannah's negligence and lack of professionalism. read more

Instead, he tried to sell a new valve replacement asking $700 repairs. i had a second estimate done by another company and they were able to fix right on a spot for $75. I recently had water dripping through my basement ceiling due to a pipe leaking in my guest bathroom. Our home warranty company, American Home Shield, eventually (a whole other story) scheduled a time with Chad from A-Total Plumbing to take a look. Chad opened up the drywall, identified the leaks and performed the repairs in short order. Chad was awesome; he answered all our questions, explained exactly what he was doing and even cleaned up afterwards. If my review was based solely on this experience it would have been 5 stars. American Home Shield then scheduled a followup appointment to repair our drywall with A-Total again. We received a 4 hour block with a 30 minute notification call. AHS had passed along my girlfriends information (not sure why since I am the account holder) to A-Total and as such they called her to give the 30 minute warning. I left work and made it home before the technician showed up. Shortly thereafter I looked outside to see a white van parked on the curb a short distance in front of my mailbox. Thinking he was eating lunch (this was right around 1PM), preparing paperwork or writing up notes from his last call I waited for him to come inside. Eventually I got the feeling he wasn't coming in, so I turn around and look back out the window to see the van gone. So then it just got ugly...when I called their office I was transferred to a lady (Cindy or Cynthia?) who immediately went on the offensive, insisting that my girlfriend said I wouldn't be back till 1:30PM (I was there well before 1:00PM) and that the technician had knocked on my door and determined I was not home. Woah, slow your roll! Look, I'm sure the technician is a good guy but my girlfriend says she didn't tell them that and I never heard the technician knock on my door or ring the doorbell. It was fairly obvious after awhile, in my opinion, that she believed I had been the one to miss the appointment. She recommended in the future I let them know that I park in my garage in the back (really??), go 'retrieve' the technician from their vehicle (really???) and make sure they have multiple numbers to call; how in the heck did you not have my number if I called to schedule the appointment!!!. Needless to say I wasn't interested in rescheduling with them and wasting more of my time. read more

I called out this company and the tech was great. Very honest and professional. When I got the estimate it thru me for a loop. 3500.00 for replacing the kitchen drain line from kitchen to main drain. They were replacing it with PVC and it might take one guy 4 to 6 hours. But lets say I give two guys 8 hours each at 50.00 per hour. I shop Home depot all the time guaranteed the PVC would be no more than 200.00. So lets double it to 400.00 That's 1200.00 That leaves 2300.00 for gross profit on the job. I just think that is about double for what it should be. I don't mind paying reasonable rates. These guys are making more than my attorney. I'm not going to get ripped like that. Just use a little common sense when people give you an estimate. Check out the other reviews. Not doing to good for them on reviews. Sorry guys I'll give you my Attorneys address maybe he has that kind of money. I damn sure don't. Just be reasonable and you can work for most people. Don't try to make it all on one person for a day. Guess I'll do it my self and I'll bet I get it done for less than 400.00 paying my self for labor. read more

Either incompetent, dishonest or both? Gas company came by and wouldn't turn on Gas stating there was a leak. I called A-Total out to find and repair the leak. Technician came out and stated the shutoff valves were old needed replacement, $700+. I took his word and ok'd the repair. A couple hours later technician called back and stated that didn't work, line still wouldn't hold pressure, gas lines were rusty looking and pitted close to the AC system and wanted to replace the entire gas lines $3000+. I declined and decided to get a second opinion. Another company came out next day, leak tested, confirmed lines were leaking, did a basic troubleshoot, found a shutoff valve A-Total had failed to find, turn off and and one they did not replace. They simply closed the valve, leak tested, found no leaks and they were done. I spent $700+ on 3 or 4 shutoff valves that run $30 or less each that I didn't need and almost got scammed out of an additional $3,000 to replace the entire gas lines. All A-Total had to do originally was walk in find and shutoff the Gas valve they missed, recheck the pressure in the gas line and be done. Incompetent, dishonest or both? read more

Robert from A-Total Services was awful. I was assigned this company through my also terrible home warranty company, AHS. I had a problem with water not getting hot enough at one sink. He turns up the water heater, but all that did was make all the other faucets scalding. So that wasn't a fix to my problem - it just relocated the problem to all other rooms of the house. I also had a leaking sink sprayer and needed a new hose/sprayer. He tells me the hot water faucet handle is stripped and that made the faucet not covered under warranty as that was not normal wear and tear (The screw was barely stripped and quite simple for anyone to remove). Instead of just ordering me a new sprayer which is all I needed, he tried telling me that the faucet was so old that it was too hard to find a replacement (it wasn't - I was able to quickly find one online) and he told the warranty company that I needed an entire faucet rather than just a new sprayer (which I didn't) but that the stripped screw made the order invalid. This technician was completely shady and clearly only there for his service fee. I'm seeing from other reviewers that they pull the "not normal wear and tear" line pretty often. read more

In addition, I was working with a Home warranty company (which usually takes forever), and they made sure the water heater was ordered, so they could go pick it up right away.. A-Totally incompetent. I had a slab leak and called my home warranty company who referred me to them. I have grey poly pipes in my house and had several previous leaks. The guy who came out told me I'd have to get my kitchen cabinets torn out so he could come in with leak detection equipment and quoted me a price of $3500.00. With all the construction costs it would have run about $5000 to have one leak fixed. My sister referred me to Plumbing by Design (those guys are awesome). Tony came out and after hearing about all the previous leaks recommended that I have the entire house repiped. He quoted me $5800.00 for the entire house. He also installed two new toilets that I purchased and only charged an additional $200 to install the new ones and dispose of the old ones. When I showed him the quote from A total he started laughing and said they are notorious for being a rip off and couldn't believe they didn't recommend a repipe. Especially since we had so many previous leaks. He told me that if I had just had that leak fixed it would only have been a band aid and I would have had another leak at some point. He said that any plumber who knows what's up should have known that . Stay away from these guys. They don't know what they're doing and only want to get as much money out of you as they can. read more

This plumber comes out and tells me the odor in our bathroom is the result of a pipe in the wall being pierced when a mirror was hung. The mirror was hung 15 years ago with glue! A-Total Plumbing was sent out to our home by our home warranty company to repair a leak under our kitchen sink. They contacted us within a few hours and set up the appointment, and were right on time for it. To repair the leak, the repairman tightened the seal around the garbage disposal but then determined that it was actually the result of an existing crack in the bottom of our sink, which was made of granite. Unfortunately, before we could get the crack addressed, somehow, he pulled off the granite front of our sink. Although we thought this was going to be a disaster, he and his boss Richard arranged for an excellant stone repairman to come out the next day, and he was able to repair the front of the sink as well as the crack in the bottom of the sink, at no further cost to us. As a result, our sink is now better than before, and we are happy with the result. All involved followed through and resolved our issues. They seem to be honest and caring business-people. read more

The technician was anxious to avoid any repairs and move on to the next job as soon as he arrived. The company was requested to repair a leaking hot water heater drain and a couple of leaking faucets. The technician decided the Pressure Regulator Valve for the house needed to be replaced. After replacing the PRV the technician decided the faucets and hot water heater would be fine since the PRV was replaced. There was no further checks performed and the technician decided the faucets did not need any further checks or repairs, based off of his telepathic powers. The technician told the home warranty company that the faucets did not need anything further even though he did not check the internals of the faucets or the hot water heater drain. He also made sure that an outside faucet was not covered by the warranty with his description of the work needed but was gracious enough to leave an inflated estimate for the work that he could complete outside of the warranty. read more

Worst experience ever with a plumbing. company Filed a claim through my insurance to get a water heater changed since it broke and the water had to be completely shut down. 3 days later they still have not picked up the heater. Meanwhile, there is no running water in the house. When I called they tell me the plumber is sick and there is nothing they can do about it so I have to wait another 3 days to get a plumber (almost a week later) because they don't work weekends and the plumber is sick so he will be out for three days. When I tried to explain to the lady on the phone that this is an EMERGENCY because there is no running water in the house and that I can't wait another 3 days, she said that's not her problem and becomes very loud and rude on the phone at which point I told her she did not need to give me an attitude and she became even ruder and louder telling me I started it. Awful costumer service, very slow, incompetent, unprepared, trying to do more than they can handle and treating clients with disrespect. Do not use. read more

a total plumbing 1 star is too high of a rating, more like 5 lumps of coal . they repaired a 5 foot section of pipe that was leaking. the entire pipe the length of the house needed replaced. it had a leak less than a foot from the shark bite they put in. it had another leak 2 feet from that spot and several more leaks the length of the house. they repair person only replaced the easy to get to section . he did not even inspect the length of pipe. when i called them . they put me thru to the manager. when i asked him who he was he said manager. i asked him what his name was and he said chad . i asked him what his last name was and he was reluctant to tell me it was chapman. i asked him who the owner is and he said he would not tell me. i asked him to come out and see what was not done. he said he would not. he said his repair man fixed what was in the pictures he took. he didn't look at or take pictures of anything that was not in plain view. i would not recommend this company to anyone . they don't care if the employee is doing a good job or not. i would at least send someone to inspect the complaint instead of brush it off. when i asked the tech on the spot did he think i would have any more leaks and he said oh yah. bad bad bad read more
