Bruce just said he couldn't send anyone to my place that same day I called. When I told him I did not need anyone to come that day, he suggested me to call Superior Plumbing. To a customer, it was presented as if no one wants her business. 2) customer service/ experience starts when a customer calls up a business. I did not make this rule, I have been in hospitality industry for a very long time, it stinks but we all have to deal with it. I have used Melvin twice. Nobody works harder, and is more fair than this guy. Plus he is a veteran! He is super honest, gives a great price, and does fantastic work. The first time I hired him he had to changed out an entire toilet. The second time he came was on a weekend and installed almost 100 feet of gas line for my natural gas grill! He painted black pipe grey (to match the rest of the piping already at the meter), plus put everything back the way it was and cleaned up. Highly recommend!!! read more

It is SO hard to find a decent plumber, but I highly recommend Davis Plumbing. We recently bought a house and have had issues with the toilets as well as some other issues. We called on a Monday and were able to make an appointment for Wednesday. Melvin called Tuesday morning and said he could send someone that day. Awesome! Alex came out, and he is truly THE MAN. After learning that we have a water pressure issue, he looked in every nook and cranny of our house to find a water shutoff valve that I mentioned we couldn't find. After talking to him more about our situation, he made some suggestions that our home inspector mentioned that we needed to make anyway. He got us a quick estimate that was pretty damn affordable and immediately got to work after I gave him the go-ahead. He got everything done in just a little over two hours and was on his way to his next job. I would definitely use these guys again and will recommend them to anyone who needs a good, honest plumber. Mr. Davis contacted me and claimed he wanted to find a way to make up for my experience. This was after his first public post calling me a liar, which he has since deleted. After multiple follow ups, Mr. Davis eventually followed through on his promise and on January 12, 2014 refunded me $15, the amount I spent on parts. It was a lot of work, but I am satisfied that they did eventually do the right thing for this customer. read more

Davis Plumbing is a fair, honest plumbing company that did a great job fixing a leaking drain. I called this place at 9pm on a Tuesday, and a guy was at my house 30 minutes later. He quickly stopped the leak, diagnosed the issue, and called a drywall guy to meet him the next day to access the area. The two were at my house at 7:30am the next day; they fixed the leak and repaired and painted the drywall within the promised time and estimated cost. Totally good experience. read more

Like most of Atlanta, we had a pipe freeze on us and an outside pipe burst the week of January 6th, flooding our basement. Thank you Al Gore and Global Warming. The first plumber I had called was outside of my area but recommended Davis Plumbing. Given the amount of homeowners having issues, there was a backlog. The good news is that I still had water to the inside of the house and could afford to wait a few days. Alex was the guy on the job, and he did a very good job quickly fixing the issue. He also spoke with me about some other issues (not related to the pipe bursting) and offered some suggestions. I feel like Davis Plumbing is an honestly run company, and that is largely overlooked in the service industry in Atlanta. I felt like their prices were good as well. The only thing that was an small issue was having to change around the schedule slightly today. Thankfully, I was able to adjust, and the job didn't take as long as I expected. We have been Davis customers for years but they started always trying to up sell every time the techs would show up to service our unit and I caught a couple techs not doing the complete maintenance job. So in 2019 when we had to replace our complete unit we went with another better respectful company and then we got a call from Davis himself asking if we made a decision on the replacement of our unit. I explained we decided to go with another company and he asked why so I told him and his attitude changed to very rude and disrespectful tone. He totally talked down to me so I'm glad I cut that cut rate disrespectful Davis loose we should of cut them loose years ago. If we could give no stars we would. We own a small business that was in need of emergency plumbing so we could open later this evening. We went to yelp and chose to call Davis Plumbing due to the reviews. Upon a return call, the person calling back was extremely rude, told us it would be $285 an hour, and preceded to tell us he wasn't stupid. I would be very hesitant contacting this company. Again, a review worthy of zero stars, but sadly that option is lacking, as there was no service that occurred, despite me making an appointment a week ago for one. Not unlike most, I have a busy schedule and when I devote two hours to a scheduling window block, I expect for an appointment to occur. So today, I had a window from 3-5 and was given these excuses by David Plumbing at 6:00 pm: "I am so sorry I am a one man show today my guys are burned out and it took forever to find your number." "We have been inundated with emergencies for three days." I get the emergencies everyone has experiences with pipes bursting beforehand, but the phone number? Um, you had it, because you called me last Saturday when I originally set up the appointment. A call BEFORE the scheduled window would have been acceptable to discuss the emergency issue. Before I wasted a precious Saturday afternoon waiting for something that wouldn't be delivered. So now, here it is Saturday night, and my issue still exists and Davis Plumbing failed to deliver. Even though there were bad reviews, I decided to choose Davis plumbing because it seems as thought they follow trough and want people to have a good experience. With that being said I didn't I called yesterday 11/20/14 to get a quote on a simple clog that needed fixing. I was quoted by the "master plumber" $165. Which was fine. Upon late arrival (I called him, he didn't call me), he unclogged the drain then charged me.... 185. If that was the price I would've chosen a different plumber. But that's besides the point. My card was swiped. He said it was declined although there was plenty of money available. So I swiped another. Now two of my cards have been charged $185 that I really didn't agree to. I've called 4 times today 11/21/14. No answer no response. and the have my money. I was trying to establish a relationship with this company. But due to this unfortunate event and the fact that they dont answer the phone, I don't think I can. Please follow through with quotes, don't charge double, and answer paying customers phone calls. Initially this company seemed to be prompt and customer focused...that is until you have an issue. Melvin installed a sink that another plumber had botched, guaranteeing his work. Three months later when the sink began to leak i I called immediately. I was reassured that they would resolve the issue. Multiple no-shows and three weeks later still no Melvin. I only spoke with Davis Plumbing for 3 minutes and I already trust them. My Dispos-All had died over the weekend and I tried to fix it myself. When I realized I couldn't, I called them up and asked if they could. Over the phone, they told me how to reset the GFCI unit beneath the container and it works! No service call; no charge. They easily could have charged me $50-$100 for the visit just to throw a switch (like the HVAC people did with my AC unit...), but they did the right thing and now I'll use them for everything. Melvin (owner) and Spenser worked a miracle of physics to get our 10yr old water heater out of a tight spot in a utility closet. I thought for sure we would need to remove part of the wall to get it out, but these guys took on a job another company refused to take, and they did the work for a fair price. I used to hold my breath anytime I needed to call a plumber--always worried that I would be taken for a ride. I called Davis Plumbing due to the reviews on Yelp. Alex showed up promptly the next day and gave me a quote of $1500 to install a water line from my house to the meter, approximately 75'. I questioned this price and his attitude was take it or leave it. I SHOULD HAVE LEFT IT. I had already dug the trench and all he had to do was pull the line under a sidewalk (10 minutes) and make the connections at both ends. Since this work was done, I have checked with two other plumbing companies and learned that $500 would have been a fair cost. Get multiple quotes and you probably will not use this company. I e-mailed Davis Plumbing at 12:30am and by 5:15am the next morning I received an email back asking where we lived and letting me know I would be contacted soon to set up a time. Terrence called me at 8:00am and they were here by 9:30am! They figured out that my disposal was broken. They gave me the option of me going out to buy a new disposal or they could and then install it. I opted for them going to buy it. Beyond getting out there quickly and repairing the leak, what impressed me the most was how they communicated. Realized we had a leak under our kitchen sink that was causing significant damage to the drywall in our basement and didn't know what to do. Called Davis Plumbing because of the great Yelp reviews and were not disappointed. Had a guy out within half an hour late on a Sunday afternoon. He had me run to the store to pick out a new faucet and replaced it right then and there as well as calling his drywall contact to come out (also within the hour) to start repair work in our basement. They were in communication with me all day on their progress and got to the job the same day. Melvin Davis was very personable on the phone, and knew the issue with a quick explanation of the symptoms. His plumber (Kevin) worked around my tenant's hectic schedule. Upon arriving he found the problem to be much worse than originally anticipated but this did not phase him and he was able to complete the job. There was a minor miscommunication between myself, the owner Melvin, and the master plumber Kevin, but Melvin bent over backwards to insure customer service was his number 1 priority, not many companies recognize it's importance like Melvin Plumbing. read more

I hired Davis Plumbing in January 2012 to diagnose and fix a leak in my downstairs ceiling. Melvin Davis told me that my upstairs shower needed replaced. Melvin and another worker tore out my old shower, poured concrete, tiled the walls and floor of the shower without installing a drain, left, and never came back, taking $1300 of my money and leaving me with a completely unusable shower. He didn't return any of my calls or texts, and didn't even come to pick up his remaining tools. I had three other plumbers look at the work; they all recommended that I at least report him to the Secretary of State and Better Business Bureau, and possibly take more aggressive action. He ruined my shower, left me with a bathroom I couldn't use, took $1300, and disappeared. It was difficult to find another plumber or contractor willing to tear out Melvin's "work" and redo the job from scratch, but I finally did find someone, and they had to completely demo Melvin's shower and start from scratch, to the tune of about $6000. It took me years to save up the funds to have the work redone (it surely would have helped to have had the original $1300 I paid for literally nothing returned) and to find a plumber willing to tackle the job. I was told by more than one plumber that it was such a mess that they weren't even willing to touch it. I'm happy with my shower now (3 years later), but if I could give a 0 star review, I definitely would. read more

I called and made an appointment with Davis. On the day of the appointment I call three times to ask where are they. The appoint was for 4 p.m. I gave up after 10 p.m. Each time I call they kept telling me they were on their way. If they know they were not going to be able to meet the appointment they should just have stated this and I could have look up someone else. They wasted my time. Davis Plumbing is The Best! I clogged my kitchen sink/garbage disposal at 6pm! Tried to unclog it myself but no luck. I was starting to panic because it was getting into evening and wondered who would come ASAP to fix my sink. I called Davis Plumbing, he said he'd be right over, texted him my information and he was at my place pretty quick considering the time of day it was and the short notice given. He was super pleasant, explained what was wrong, and fixed the problem. Since he was here, he also looked at a toilet issue and fixed that too! I was quoted $325 to install a shower valve and move some drain pipe in a bathroom before the marble shower stall was installed. There was some difficulty getting Melvin to show up on time and he did not call me, I had to call him, as other reviews have said. Eventually he showed up and installed the shower valve and moved the pipe. He promised to come back after the marble shower stall was installed and finish the agreed job by installing the shower control handle and the shower head. Again, we had difficulty getting to him but he finally agreed to come on a Monday morning. No show. I called and he said I was wrong, that he would be there between 1 and 3. Again, no show and no phone call. After two days I sent him a text message saying that I thought a portion of the money ($75) should be returned since he failed to complete the job as agreed and had not made any arrangements to do so. He texted back "No Problem". I have yet to see a refund. read more

They were awful. I had my entire house re-piped a few years ago. The pipes rattle, I have a leak near the hot water heater, the pipes freeze every year. I ripped open the walls and found out they did not put the insulation back in the wall and that is why they kept freezing. read more

Davis Plumbing is awesome! I was selling my home and my buyer's inspector required that we install a thermal expansion tank and electrical disconnect on the water heater to meet code. I started calling around to several plumbers asking for estimates. When I called Davis Plumbing and listed off what I needed, he gave me an estimate similar to the other plumbers that I called. However, after he gave me the estimate he started asking questions about why I needed it. After explaining the situation in more detail, he named off a couple of parts that I could buy on the internet that would be simple to install myself and would meet the code requirements. I then contacted my buyer's agent, who contacted the buyers inspector and confirmed that these proposed solutions were acceptable. Total cost to buy the items online was $27.95 and took about 30 minutes to install myself. He ended up saving me over $500 and he didn't even make a dime off of me! Obviously this company has the customer's best interest in mind and although they didn't do any actual work for me, I would highly recommend calling them for a free consultation; he could save you a lot of money. Don't waste your time with them. Complete no show even after me confirming our appointment twice. And I use "confirming" loosely because he never even responded back to me. I finally call the morning of our appointment after I was just thinking he was just late and he told me he was on another appointment! He said he would not be able to come to my house for several more hours. I was confused and I asked him on the phone if he had received my texts (which is how he told me to communicate with him) and he replied that he had indeed received them, so in other words he had just chosen not to get back to me. I had rearranged my entire day to be here for this appointment and I understand sometimes things happen but not even a simple courtesy call had been made to let me know that he could not make it.
