Ok bud pump the breaks, I'm not looking for a date. I'm attaching a copy of my invoice to put you claims to rest about me not being a client. Just to put the pieces together for you bud, your username for Yelp doesn't have to be your legal name. You did in fact do work at my property and your work did in fact suck, and you were also crappy to work with, fact! I will apologize for name calling. I do not know for a fact that you are a "meth cowboy" but, if I could offer some advice maybe threatening to assault your clients on a public platform (yelp) just might not be the best business strategy. Just a thought, don't shoot the messenger here bud. Anyway, Now that you have your proof that I do exist and I am in fact a victim of you shoddy workmanship, I request that your dirt jockey, shovel pushing ass leaves me alone. God bless! I never responded to Cliffs responses as 5 months went by without him contacting me back. After having to beg him to finish his work the first go through, no chance in hell or high water ( pun intended because that meth cowboy did a piss job and my basement floods when it rains worse then when I hired his incompetent butt). Stay away from this business. Also he's harassing me via Yelp. Go away Cliff!

    Damage done.

I feel like my experience was possibly an anomaly. I am updating my previous review because the owner did come out and make a problem right (without calling though so we weren't home and my roommate had to be late to work to allow them in). However, it was kind of a whirlwind experience where I was promised a quick deadline and it was pushed back for quite awhile. It took many months to get back to where I wanted it to be. Because I was desperate to get my tenant back into his space, I accepted the work as it was. To be fair, the business probably would have come back in and jack-hammered back up the floor (I had a nice, smooth, finished cement floor prior to the project and ended up with a gravel-y and uneven floor in its place in many spots), but after multiple weeks of being out of part of my house, I wasn't willing to. Yes, the basement doesn't leak, but there are things about my basement that I am not happy with that you can see in the pictures I've provided. If I didn't have a tenant or didn't work like crazy, I probably would have let them back in to fix up the place, but I just got tired. The owner is communicative and helped as much as he could. Again, I feel like my experience is somewhat an anomaly.

Screenshot of 5 min phone call with Cliff making an appointment that he never showed up for or bothered to call and cancel/reschedule.

A year later and my crawlspace is still dry. Just recommended this outfit to a guy I work with. If he's smart, he'll hire them.

So, this summer, we decided to move forward with the plan to be "soakin' for the holidays" three months away. The only thing standing in the way of that dream: the slab and its neighbor had sunk a few extra degrees, roughly three inches, at the far edge. We were going to need to shore up and permanently stabilize this slab if our hopes of the (3-ton when filled) tub were going to materialize. I made a quick call to Terra Firma and they had an estimator out within a few days. The pricing was reasonable and had the standard 50% up front 50% when complete-type contract. Casey arrived spot-on at 8:00am yesterday morning and began doing his magic (the process involves boring 1/2" holes through the slab, then using high pressure and heat to inject a molten expanding foam under the slab.) The foam is rated to support about 5 tons (10,000 pounds) per pound of foam material, and....100 pounds later that whole slab is back to following the prescribed slope perfectly, raising almost three inches on the sunken side. He did a great job and was a great rep for the company, explaining what little was left to explain. He kept me up on the status of the (4-hour) job as he went along--because our slabs had previously cracked, he had to gently lift it up in small sections so as to not have the sections separate further. Perfect job. 24 hours later and the patched holes have dried to almost-invisible (see photos). Unless you know what you're looking for, you can't even really see that repairs were made. Now I just need to fill in the pre-existing cracks with concrete patching caulk and we're ready to schedule the hot tub delivery! Yippee! Thanks Terra Firma!

Avori was very proactive in addressing the severeness of our crawlspace leak. The Portland flooding and our non-functioning French drain made it really bad, allowing water to literally flood into our crawlspace! Avori and his team worked through the water and mud, installing new posts and beams, redirecting the water to a newly installed sump pump. The job took much longer than originally anticipated but was done well and our foundation is now much more stable. I really would have given five stars if the original quote caught everything but it wasn't flooding when the sales guy, John, came out so he didn't see the extent of our foundation issues. Avori was able to keep the increase to a minimum and we really appreciated all he did for us.

John's told us that the toilet would always be available and the that the rest of bathroom would be put back together within a week. They never were able to get the toilet functional. John's plumber had some problem that didn't allow him to drive. Thus, the apprentice did all the driving. A combination of life issues between the plumber, the apprentice and poor scheduling and planning on the part of the John's made it so that the toilet was still not working after almost two months. I finally have John's one last attempt to install the toilet telling them "If you can't get the toilet working by Monday evening, I'll have to hire someone else to install it". Once again, a scheduling issue kept them from being able to install the toilet. I called another plumber that night and had a functional toilet by noon the next day. The new plumber was then able to finish the rest of the work the John's was supposed to do by the end of the next day. Even worse, it turns out that John's prior attempts at work had dumped concrete into our watermain. It cost extra work to clean that mess out. I strongly urge you to stay away from John's Waterproofing.

I had a sketchy company do work on my crawlspace a few years ago and they've since fallen off the face of the earth. I was nervous to have a new company come out and 1) find something wrong and 2) try to sell me on things I didn't need. Michael H. with Better Basements and Waterproofing was honest - what was done by the former company wasn't up to his standards, however, it's fine for now and we can probably wait a few years before having any work done again. He also said we could use Better Basements and Waterproofing for sump pump maintenance (since we can't use the original company), however, he reassured me there isn't a binding yearly contract and I can just call if I'm interested (no need to agree this moment). I appreciated how honest and thorough he was in his inspection and in his explanations of everything. I've had a lot of companies over the years try to sell me on things I don't actually need. Michael didn't, and because of that, I actually will probably use Better Basements and Waterproofing in the future if I do need work done.

Other back and forth continued for some time, and once a dissatisfactory review was posted online, their explanation changed. It changed to they knew the issues at hand, but they weren't hired for THAT, so they didn't fix it. Instead of acknowledging my complaints individually, the owner places blame on me and apologised for ME "being unrealistic" - AFTER THEIR OWN WORK INVOICE SAID IT WOULD DO SOMETHING THAT IT DIDN'T. They also claims they did the work for the sellers, and not even me and my partner....as the estimates, and invoices have my name listed on it, as well as my partners(name highlighted in green on attached photo). If they really didn't do the work for us, I would have expected him to hit back with "I couldn't find you in the system" like they have on other negative reviews. I also would have expected them to decline to even come back out to our house, if that was the case. The owner also claimed the company replaced a vapor barrier for me at some point, maybe they meant at closing?? but their response made it seem like they did it as some sort of courtesy sometime after the intial work was done. They either failed to communicate yet another thing, or they made up info to try to make a negative google review look better. We might never‍ know lol. They have so many positive reviews that our experience truly has us scratching our heads as to why our experience has sucked. If my partner worked on someone's car, but the same car came was back within 6 months, with even more issues, and all he had to say "sorry your car is failing, but I didn't know it was going to get to THIS extent, and I don't even have tools for this", he would still be held responsible in his position. It's been nothing but a headache for the last year, I can't go into my garage without feeling frustration and wishing we had gotten bids elsewhere instead of taking the route we did. I recommend going elsewhere for foundation specific issues(they do fine with crawl space work), especially if you're getting work done before closing/using escrow. That, or make sure to physically be present during all conversations and scheduling regarding what's needed so that questions can be asked and stories, blame and explanations can't be shifted later.
