We have been faithful customers for years. We ordered tonight and it was bad! Has this been bought out or new people taking it over ? The General Tso's was not the same . Completely different taste. The Bourbon chicken was like leather and didn't taste the same. The rice was even different . We fed a whole bunch of people and spent a pretty penny and it was not good. read more

It use to be the best Chinese take out around for years! They must have sold the business. It is terrible! When people would come to visit us they would always want Number One Kitchen! My husband said he didn't recognize anyone in there so they must have sold it. We have tried it a couple of times since, it was bad! Our son was visiting from Brunswick & ordered some to take home while he was here. They threw it away! They said it was not good! We are so disappointed. It used to be our place to go! Never again! I've been looking for an another Chinese place in the area since my favorite changed their garlic sauce (they insist that they did not but it is completely different from what they had been serving). I wanted to try things that I have ordered regularly so that I could readily compare N1K with other places....so I ordered Veggie Lo Mein, Broccoli with Garlic Sauce, Tofu w/Mixed Veggies and spring rolls for good measure. We usually eat a Whole Food, Plant-Based diet and carefully chosen Chinese entrees are a big deal for us, definitely a splurge that we don't do too often, so we want it to be good! Veggie Lo Mein: lots of good veggies included, loved the wealth of mushrooms, and it was not at all greasy (like it is everywhere else, it seems). Broccoli w/Garlic Sauce: is actually mixed veggies with garlic sauce (they warned me when I ordered). Good bunch of veggies done just right, still not the elusive garlic sauce that I have been missing but it is tasty and just hot enough. Tofu w/Mixed Veggies: more of the same veggies of course. While the tofu was ok (cooked in some sort of brown sauce?), it had failed to soak up any of flavor from the sauce (not that the sauce was very good anyway). I had a talk with the cashier when we went a second time and was assured that I could substitute other sauces next time, which we will definitely do. Spring Rolls: lighter than the "other" local Chinese joint. Good enough. I ordered them more for a test, and they passed. Because of how we eat, we won't be ordering them often, and they won't be missed. Good service, reasonable prices. The menu posted online is a bit outdated (when I tried to order one item I was told that it was from an old menu), but good enough to help you with placing your first order. Number 1 kitchen is really number 1. They are delicious. Unfortunately they don't deliver but it's so worth it. I love their pork fried rice. They are open on most major holidays. We order from here on every Christmas Eve. They are actually pretty easy to talk to as well, sometimes it's hard to understand other Chinese restaurant employees when ordering over the phone. read more

The hot and sour soup is just ok; my husbands Chicken chow mein had no noodles in it. The only good thing we had tonight was the potstickers.
