I had this company come out to work on my mothers roof...As someone who previously worked for a roofing company (which I didn't tell the representative I had), I know the ins and outs of what roof repair and replacements take to get the job done. In reading other reviews, I was a little skeptical about calling them but I know that sometimes damaged siding or issues with certain types of Windows or cracked chimneys can cause roof leaks so I didn't pay much mind to those reviews and went with the coupon in the mail. Half of my moms roof is about 7 years old and the other half was way overdue for replacement. The guy explained two options, one to replace the whole thing with the same materials on all 1800 or so square feet or only replace the 700 square feet that needed it now with a different material than what was on the other 1100 from 7 years ago. Right off the bat we liked how they were honest and didn't tell her she needed to do everything all at once, even though that's what they did. The warranty they offer is great and gave us the info on the roof material manufacturer warranty as well. It took about a little less than two days (normal, considering shorter days in the fall & winter) and instead of telling us to buy new gutters they just cleaned what we had up at no charge. A1 Everlast just installed a chimney liner and new cap. My chimney was a mess due to years of oil heat and then the switch over to natural gas. I received multiple quotes and A1 was not the least expensive, but Bob from A1 was extremely knowledgeable and was able to come up with a solution that fit my needs. Their guys showed up on time, performed excellent work and cleaned up extremely well afterwards. I did notice some mortar cracking at the top of the chimney the day after and Bob sent his guys out to do the repair in a timely fashion. I would gladly use A1 for future projects. read more

I bought a 19th century brick rowhouse in Jersey City in 2020 and the basement needed a LOT of work. The brick walls were spalling and deteriorating and I wanted those fixed and covered with concrete. A1 did a really great job with this -- removing all the deteriorated brick, enclosing it in a mesh, and then adding a layer of concrete with a textured sandy brown color that looks really nice. After they finished that job, I hired them again to rip up the floor of one room of the basement and install a french drain and pour a new concrete floor. Took them just 3 days to do that and I'm really happy with the work. Before and after pictures of the totally transformed basement room are below. The room was really unusable when we bought the house and now it's an ideal storage room. In the future if we need any more concrete or brick work done I will definitely call A1 again. read more

A1 Everlast our of Hawthorne, NJ 1-888-399-0955 Robert Synder this company was recommended to me by my builder and they are always in the Home Improvement booklet or the coupons. A1 Everlast replaced my front stoop and porch. It was verified by and A1 Everlast Supervisor one year later the Limestone trim and Steps is a defective stone and needs to be replaced as part of their warranty and no charge and this was 2019! I have been given the run around by Robert Synder, Pat, and Anthony Cava. They answered my calls I am polite when I call but continually say we are so busy but Timmy the stone man will come by and schedule it is now over 2 years and my LimeStone is terrible and all cracks. They treated me as a woman customer disrespectful they yelled at me because I told Pat I even confirmed by another mason that this Limestone is defective and PAT Yelled at me! Who would do that to a good paying customer? I have told everyone about my abusive treatment over the phone. I have been more than patient and something needs to be done about this! read more

I have never been so appalled by a company before. I have been a server/bartender and work for a non profit so I sincerely understand when an employee is having a difficult day or is overwhelmed. I called to make an appointment to have my gutters inspected as we needed more of them. The first appointment they came and my husband was in the back yard and they had the wrong phone number. Fair enough. I called them after the time frame they said they would be there and he said "he came, your husband was not there." I (which should have been him initiating the conversation ensuring the contact information was correct) asked what phone number they had. The number was wrong, ok, cool, not a problem. So I asked if we could reschedule (again, that should have been an automatic response from him). So we rescheduled for today, 11-1pm. I called AT 12 noon to confirm. Not only did we interrupt me when I was trying to simply ask about the time/location but he said "do not start with the attitude today!" I am absolutely appalled by the lack of professionalism and overall attitude that this asshole gave me. I highly suggest that YOU NEVER WORK WITH THEM. Sincerely, a simple "yes they are on way" or a "let me check" or ANYTHING BESIDES the disrespect and asshole way he handled the situation would have been sufficient. DO NOT USE THEM! read more

They are SCAMMERS. They will quote you work that you do NOT need. They don't call you back. BUYER BEWARE. They estimate low so they can come to your house and then make up something, so you will pay them more. My mom had the worst experience from this company. BEWARE! Do not get any services from them. Not only do they not complete the work, but they try to trick you to get more work done from them. We had a guy come initially to clean the gutters on the house for $60. They sent over Joey along with another person. He went to inspect the roof and came down to tell me in a panicked way that my roof was going to collapse in 1 week. My mom was petrified. He said the liner by the chimney was damaged and that water would leak and that the whole roof would collapse and it would cost me $7,000. My mom told him that she was going to call someone else for advice on that. He kept insisting that she could trust him and that he was telling the truth. In the end, we had another expert come to the house and it was fine. He tried to SCAM my mom. When my mom said that she didn't want the roof repaired, Joey became agitated. They finished the gutter and I gave them the $60 so they could leave. I went to check on the gutters and they completed 50% of the work. My mom called several days to ask about the incomplete job that she paid for. They insisted the manager would call her back. They NEVER did. read more

Editing, as I'm not out to hurt anyone's financial well being or reputation. Frankly, I don't know much about this company - only my brief experience with them. My experience was the same as some of the prior reviews in terms of reliability and price quoting. At the end of the day, I wound up going with another roofer who I simply felt more comfortable with and did a great job. My overall advice to anyone looking for a roofer, whether or not they consider Everlast, is to always get more than one opinion and not get pressured into making a decision. This company came to fix my roof last year. Before I started the work they had great customer service. The day the job was done they have been horrible. They brought a different company to do the job. They broke part of my siding and deck. They left nails everywhere in the backyard. My neighbors complained about their work because they messed up their yard. Now a year later the roof is leaking. This is a new roof with a 10 year warranty. I called them on Friday, on Monday and Tuesday and they are coming to do the repair. They claim they are too busy. I am not able to call another company because the warranty will be void. If I could give them a negative star I would 1 star is really a gift. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! We initially hired this company in December 2014 for leaks in my family room which is an addition to my home. We got a quote of 1,000.00 to repair the leaks. The men came and did the work....a year later the roof is leaking again in the same spots this is January 2016...they come back out and now we need a new roof so they say....so we pay an additional 2,568.00 for a new roof on top of the 1,000.00. Ok so we have a 5 year warranty on material and 7 on workmanship. Sounds ok right? BIG JOKE! I noticed over the summer some of the shingles buckling...so in June I call to see if someone can come and check it out. I called multiple times the entire summer no one ever called me back but a worker finally just showed up and supposedly fixed the problem. Ok Now it's November and we had a huge rainstorm my roof is leaking terrible in my family room and the ceiling that we just repaired along with the roof is a mess. So we call my husband talks to Pat the owner who I may add is very unprofessional and down right nasty. He says he will send someone out to look at the roof. Two men came and looked at the roof.....guess what they say now we need repairs done on the other part of my roof that isn't even leaking so we paid 3,500.00 for my family room but now the other part of the roof needs to be repaired. They say the leak is coming from the other part of the roof. So now as you can imagine we are upset my husband calls and talk to Pat the owner again and says he will do us a favor to quote him,"a freebie", and patch up our main roof. My husband is upset tells him its not a freebie we had a warranty he then days this is the last repair he will do for us. Last weekend, we had a chimney fire and the Fire Department said it was caused by buildup and not being cleaned. It caused a ton of smoke damage to the house and the CO levels were so high that the FD said we would have all been killed in the matter of minutes. They were shocked when we said we had it cleaned in November. I called A1 Everlast the day after the fire and spoke to someone claiming to be a manager. He took my name and number and I haven't heard a peep from them since. At the very least, it would have been nice to hear from the owner and get an apology for their inadequate performance. Do NOT use this company!!! If I can give the ZERO stars, I would. Why I didn't look at their reviews BEFORE signing the contract, is beyond me. Unfortunately I trusted they were legit and would follow through with the estimate and contract. Boy was I wrong! These people are RATS and LIARS!!! First of all, they were quick to come out and give an estimate (which was completely wrong). I wasn't home, my parents were so they pressured my parents in signing the contract and having them write out a check for half of the payment ($350). The estimate was for $700 and the contract states they would repair the fireplace walls, not wall. When they came with the panel to replace, they told my father the other 2 panels needed to be replaced also. My father told him he knew and stated the contract was to replace all the walls. The guy said he's not leaving the house until he gets the final payment. My father told him he was not going to pay because that's not what was discussed. The Worker got upset and kept threatening my father he was not leaving without payment. Little did he know, his panel that he was going to replace was also cracked. Thankfully he wasn't able to do the job. 2. The Worker kept telling us they would come replace the wall and would never show up. We took days off of work to be there for them and we didn't even get the courtesy of having a cancellation phone call. 3. We decided we wanted to clarify the contract with the "owner" Pat. Every time I called the receptionist said "he's not in. I'll have him call you back. He never did" 4. I kept calling and finally spoke to him. He told me he would bring the check "today or tomorrow". Today and tomorrow came and went and still no check. 5. Today I called 3 times and FINALLY got in contact with him. He said "I had to make money with a job (leaky roof) so I couldn't take the check". He said no one was trying to keep my deposit but reiterated he needed to make his money today. Really? What a response to a customer you keep making promises to! When I tried to explain everything that happened, he said "come pick up your check then". Hopefully when I go tomorrow, they will have my check ready and will not disrespect me. My heat went out; interior of the chimney collapsed. I called several companies; this one responded immediately. One crew came over, with a supervisor, and gave me an estimate. Meanwhile they started working. Within two hours I had three crews and two supervisors working. They said they would be done by the end of the day and, in a light freezing rain, they were. Gas company had red-lined me because of the problem; passed the inspection today. Gas company guy said, "These guys did a good job." read more

Since my review, I have been contacted by Joe from the company, who voiced that he was very sorry for my negative experience with A-1 Everlast and that he wanted to " make things right ". As the other reviews (here and on other sites) suggest, this is a scam company. I spent over $1,000 on roof repair, and things were just worse if anything. Trying to get them back to my house to fix their work was near impossible, but they were suggesting I use them to repair the entire roof if the original repair didn't work. I went with a different company that fixed everything (Deegan Roofing), although also not without a little bit of headaches. Please, please stay away from Everlast. They had a B rating on BBB when I used them, but thankfully, that has since dropped to an F rating as of this posting. Save your time and money. read more

A worker from this company went to my neighbors house and while I was in front of my home he climbed up on my wall in front of my house and was walking on my manicured lawn. I asked him to get down and he did...cursed me out and got back on it and began stomping on my lawn yelling and cursing at me. I can only imagine how they perform their work. Totally unprofessional company.... Had them do a minor repair to some shingles on the roof. First, when the ladder was put against the brand new gutters, they scratched it up because no protection was used. Who puts a metal ladder against a new gutter without a rag or cloth? When I suggested using some protection, he just walked away on me.. While on the roof, the so called supervisor, actually took off his shirt and lied down up there sunbathing, while the worker performed the duty of actually working! What gall!! Old shingles removed were piled on the roof WITHOUT a tarp or any protection, thereby dirtying the whole work area. Eventually rain cleaned the dirt.. Should have checked Yelp 1st!! Owner Pat is rude and nasty on the phone. Sales guys are good though. Had half my roof replaced from wind damage. They put the wrong color on the roof. Put a stop order on final payment with arrangements to rectify within 72 hours. Pat called yelling at me and threatened a lawsuit and refused to discuss the issue. Salesman called and said he was going to be fired unless I released the check. Not to mention we still have construction debris (nails, staples and shingle packages floating around the property. I had 2 repairs done that were handled quickly and properly. The problem started when one of the repairs had to be repaired. 4 phone calls received no response. The 5th phone call promised someone would come on Monday, which didn't happen. The 6th phone call answered by Matt was rude and discourteous.,,told other jobs were more important than mine and couldn't care less about bad reviews. 7th phone call promised crew would be here Friday morning. 8th phone call on Friday afternoon said crew would be here within an hour. I experienced a similar issue as John C. I was given a reasonable quote the work was decent not what i had expected based on the sales pitch from Dan the owners son. His claims were, oh we're a family run business if have any issues we will take care of it right away. We guarantee our work, we are not like everyone else ya di ya da. In actuality they are worst. I placed a call because i wasn't happy about the installation of a walk way ( pavers). I caledl Dan he said call the office i called the office and got blown off for the past 3 weeks. Called for an appointment - said he'd get back to me in 10 minutes and practically hung up on me w/o a further word. Almost an hour later I hear back. Says he can't do repair, only installations. OK fine, I get it. Asked if he had any recommendations on who I can call....says, "No idea." and hangs up again w/o a word. Wow. These people are essentially thieves. The following occurred in 2015, but I didn't want to post while the court was trying to collect the judgment my in-laws won against them. At this point, it is clear they will not pay up. They will tell you anything to get your money in their hand. They will lie to you, do terrible work, and then avoid you. Short of going to court, you are out of luck if there is a problem after the work is done. Beware anything they add by hand to the contract as a promise. They will tell tales of a 25 year warranty and write it on the contract. They know it is not legally binding unless they initial it! My in-laws are retired and were affected by hurricane Sandy (4 feet of water in their house/lost both cars). The sidewalk to their door needed to be replaced, so they got three estimates be looking in the phone book and calling the 1st three companies. This is the only reason I can think of that people would use A1 Everlast, because nobody who reads the online reviews would ever contact them. A1's bid was the middle of the three, so my in-laws chose them. They replaced the sidewalk under the guise of a 25 year warranty. Within weeks, the sidewalk was cracking all over and pulling away from the foundation of the house. They did not even lay a bed of stone under the concrete. When my father-in-law mentioned this, they said it wasn't needed. After many calls, someone finally came out and slapped some patching material on the cracks, which washed away after the next rain. It is also highly questionable if they used the "5000 psi concrete" promised, since it cracked so quickly. After this, it was impossible to contact anyone at the company or get a call back if the receptionist actually took a call. Finally, my father-in-law had to go to court. During the arbitration process, the arbiter pointed out that anything A1 wrote on the contract was not binding because they didn't initial it. A1 sent some young kid to offer an insulting $400 for the terrible $2800 job that has to be totally redone. I assume the owner didn't want to go because he runs his business in such a cowardly way to being with. The pictures of the shoddy work were so damning that the arbiter ruled that A1 would have to rip out ALL of the concrete, install it properly on a bed of stone with the promised 5000 psi concrete, and offer a 5 year warranty. The work had to be complete by August 7, otherwise my in-laws would receive a judgment for the money back that he paid. At the beginning of July, A1 came and ripped out only the 1st portion of the concrete, near the steps and put down some stone. They told my father-in-law they weren't going to rip up the remainder and would instead saw away the concrete near the foundation and fill with silicone, despite the clear court order saying it all had to be ripped up. They told him they would return in a week to complete the work. One month later, they still had not come back. August 7th rolled around and, left with a partially ripped up sidewalk and no communication since the partial demo, my father-in-law went to court to start the process of getting his money back. It just so happens that the owner of A1 called my in-laws on August 7, likely realizing he had missed the long window of opportunity to make right on his shoddy work. Upon finding out that my father-in-law had gone to court, he started threatening to sue, claiming my in-laws had ignored his calls all month to set up a time for the work. He went so far as to file a police report and claim my in-laws told him 'not to worry' about coming back to fix the sidewalk. It doesn't even make sense that they'd tell him this AFTER he ripped up a portion of the sidewalk (note: the crew came out of the blue to do this with no prior call). Not that the police even believed the false report, but the phone records showed the owner did not call 1 time between the demo and August 7. I know my in-laws won't be getting the money back from A1, so I hope someone else can be spared the pain of working with them. The company that fixed A1s mess felt bad for my in-laws upon seeing the incompetent job A1 did and the fact that they were retired Sandy victims who were taken advantage of by A1. Horrible experience with this company. Please stay away. Would not recommend to anyone. Received a quote for gutter guards and scheduled and appointment for 10am the following weekend. Time came and went and no one showed up or called. We ended up calling and being told oh.. we were going to call you and ask you to reschedule. They suggested it may not be a good idea to do it that day with the storm (Sandy) coming few days later as the product will likely not be insured if damaged few days later. We said ok, will reschedule and rescheduled for the following week. Next week came around, no one called again. After we called, we were told they were too busy with much more important things fixing people's roofs and to call back later to reschedule. Understandably, we held off. Few weeks went by, called again. Were told again to call back. Finally reached them and made another appointment for today. We were told they were going to be here at 9am. time came and went as previously. no one showed up. Called them, I was told yes, we are on the list and will get a call soon with the time. Ok.. waiting. 1 1/2 hours later we call again. We were told that one of the worker's wife's hand was broken and they had an emergency. Ok, understandable.. but how come no one called us to let us know to reschedule? They also said that the price we were quoted initially was only for that time and we cancelled on them... WHAT? I could not believe my ears. I asked for someone to call me back if anyone was still coming. after more time went by, I just called myself and cancelled. Never ever use this company. read more

I am not surprise to see the low number for this company . If you want to hire them as new costumers they will be at your door on the next day however, after their first job please Cross your finger and hope that you don't have to call them for repair or warranty on their job. Last year we contract them to do some work on the steps in from of the house they came up with numbers which I paid in full and 25 years warranty. After winter was over 8 months later we find out that the stones that they put on the side and at front of the steps are broken and breaking apart, I called the company explained the problem the secretary Donna very rude, she need to learn a little more about costumer service and very a little more kind. After several weeks no one returned my calls one time they hand up ... I was very mad now they said is our fault because we put ice salt we are not sopiuse to use that and that's the reason why they are not replacing anything by free and I have to pay for that!!! Never did I after 3-4 weeks when we spoke with him last week completely empty of who we are...!!
