Before I begin... please do not trust this company or have them come to your home. I saw their vans around our neighborhood and trusted them. They told me I was getting a free estimate then after the technician looked over everything he said you owe a service fee and when I said I was told this was a free estimate he got hostile and raised his voice at me. It was very uncomfortable. He also stapled 5 business stickers in my garage. I would understand maybe if I got service done with a number to call but I just asked for the estimate. It was very excessive. Lastly, when I called to talk to a supervisor about my experience they said it would take 3 days.. Their upcharge is outrageous. My spring broke in half & I ended up paying about $2200 in repairs for a 2 car garage door for the most basic options they offer. Found out the next day that I could have bought an entirely new door for almost that price from a different company in town. Do not waste your money. I'm extremely upset. UPDATE: As I was cleaning out my garage today I discovered that they put their advertisement stickers EVERYWHERE. Even a plate screwed into the back of my garage door opener button wasn't enough for them (That $2200 didn't even include a new garage door opener by the way. I provided a new one). Stickers on the garage door. Sticker above the garage door. Sticker on the new garage door opener that I provided. Everywhere I look I am reminded of the company that ripped me off! I would also like to point out that the pricing from the other company included a warranty & next day appt. The Technician was very thorough and explained step by step the mechanical and electrical systems involved. He made minor adjustments and lubricated all moving parts. The springs were weakening but we chose not to replace them now. An estimate was emailed for future repairs. It's a smart call to assess your garage doors life. read more

Extremely unprofessional and dishonest experience. We hired A1 Garage Door Company and spent over five hours with their technicians while they tried to upsell us on different services and parts. After a long back and forth, we agreed on a price, which they had us sign for. However, when they asked for the signature, they had me (and a 60-year-old man who was present) sign on a blank phone screen with no writing or price breakdown visible. It felt very shady -- like they were just collecting a signature to later attach to whatever they wanted. The next day, we called and asked for a copy of the receipt, which they hadn't provided at the time of payment. When they finally sent it, we discovered that they had added $454.22 in extra charges that were never agreed to. It really seems like they tried to hide the real total until after the fact. We called their office and spoke with Lauren, who said a manager would call back within five days -- but no one ever followed up. This whole experience felt dishonest and frustrating. Is A1 Garage Service a rip-off? I recently paid $1,700 to replace a broken spring, and, like many repair jobs, I was told several other parts also needed replacing. I do not know whether they truly did, so I had to rely on the technician's advice. The next day, the garage door would not close. When I called the company, I spent 10 minutes with their bot before being transferred to a person, only to be offered a repair time when no one would be home. They are very good at upselling, but I would not use them again or recommend them. read more

My parent's garage door spring broke and we had Jeremiah come in. He called when he was on the way to the house which is great for those of us that are busy. He was able to do some measurements and explain the different types of springs they offer plus the warranty. Jeremiah was very thorough in explaining and inspecting the garage to let us know of any other issues we might encounter. He finished in about an hour which included testing the door and making sure all the remote controls worked. We chose the premium spring since it is expected to last for 30-40 years for a price of $1400 and it came with a lifetime warranty. The two other choices were 2-5 years for $800 (2 year warranty) and 10-15 years for $1100 (5 year warranty). It was more expensive than we expected to get the spring replaced on the garage, but for the price of the premium spring, it seems like the best deal. Overall, I recommend A1 Garage for their service and the quality of work they offer. Hopefully the spring will last a long time! read more

We will not be using them in the future. Our spring broke some time ago and they came out and fixed it. Told us there's a warranty on all the parts and they have 24/7 emergency services if we ever need any help. That brings me to today. My garage door won't close. I call them at 3pm and they tell me that there's no one to come out until tomorrow. I'm like what am I supposed to do over night with my garage door just wide open!? They didn't care and just repeated they don't have a technician available, I don't see how you can say you have 24/7 emergency services and then not be able to come out for an actual emergency. Wow! As my garage door would not open and shut I needed help...I was able to schedule online and received two confirmations that my appointment was booked. The technician also texted me when he was on his way. Nice. After going over all the mechanisms, all that was wrong was the sensors were out of alignment. What did I owe them? No charge! I had trouble with one garage door opener out of three. I had called A1 for the troubled garage door opener but we weren't able to duplicate the problem. He serviced the garage doors and sold me a 10% discount on future repairs... $155. A few months later the garage door opener no longer worked and needed replacing. I again called A1 because of the discount. When the employee arrived and after inspection, I was talked into getting a second one replaced also because of their age, even though I had no problems with it. The price for both was pretty high so I settled on a program with a shortened warranty and a little less cost. A half hour after starting the work the guy said I needed more parts and it would cost more and gave me the additional cost. I said no, and told him to put everything back and I would get another bid from someone else. He then discounted some items with a total of $4200 for the 2 units. I also got a 5% discount for being a veteran. When completed, he had me sign a "blank" page on his tablet and said a statement would be sent to me via email. When I received the bill it was over $4480. I was expecting it to be around a little less than $3800 after applying my military discount and the 10%. I called the office with my concerns and she said the 10% discount was already applied to my invoice (which the statement did not show at all) and that it does not apply to the more expensive parts like the motor, etc. The technician that sold me the warranty did not mention that at all, just that it was a good idea because he felt I would probably be getting a new garage door opener soon. The employee on the phone did offer me an $80 discount for my troubles which I did not accept Although the installer and the phone representative were very friendly, I felt like I was duped and will no longer use this dishonest company. read more

My garage door broke 2 days ago. I called A1 and talked to "Chris" who promised that a technician would be at my house between 11:15am and 1:15pm. By 2:00pm no one had appeared or called so I called them back and talked to "Hunter." He seemed surprised no one had come by so he said he would look into it and call me back in a few minutes. It is 10:00am the following day as I write this, and I have still heard nothing from them. I finally had to do the repair myself. It took me almost 4 hours and a couple of skinned knuckles. A1 was prompt and professional when they arrived. Single garage door opener was not working, and I didn't use my home warranty (my fault). I was upsold on the higher motor, belt drive, camera, new spring, and worry free club. $2100 I just had a second garage door opener replaced under home warranty by a very professional and transparent installer. He asked about the new one and he said he could have done it for about $1400 less. He can install both for $2100. I won't use A1 again. Too much focus on upselling and unnecessary replacements. I'm not sure on the commission or bonus structure but it seems like there was incentive to upsell. read more

got a quote for a new door - sales guy said price A - seem kinda high but... then we went inside and he got the "inside sales person" - who's in phoenix btw - on the phone and he started listing this, and this, and that without really any explanation why we needed it and no discussion about other options. by the time he was done and sent us the quote the price was about $13,000 higher than what we were initially told (on the spot)! there was no breakdown of the cost to everything that was added on. i emailed him a day later and asked why and to explain how we got from price A to price B? never got a response back, and my husband also emailed him several days later for a breakdown of the costs - never got a response either. got 2 other quotes - both from local, long-time (68 years and 40 years) family-owned businesses - both salesmen immediately recognized the quote - without prices or the final amount - as A1's. said "they are a hard sell, high commission" company. one of the salesmen learned that a woman paid $1,300 for a repair and he told her his charge would have been less than $500. guess we should have known that when "garage door service" is in their promotion that selling grage doors isn't their main business - except at exorbitant prices! do your due diligence, folks!! read more

The immediately said we need a whole new garage door opener. Fine. I guess that makes sense. Then charged me $900 for a $300 opener. And then charged another $300 to install it. Then continued trying to upsell me .. "You know, little lady, this here door needs some special services" "If you contract with us to do an annual service.." Our garage door spring broke and I went online, found A1 Garage Door Service, they had a chat with representative section, so gave them the information of what happened. My husband who is disabled was unable to pull rope to open in an emergency. The weight of the door is quite heavy. A! sent out someone the next morning at 8:00. Shane was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. The cost, though, is like everything else these days, "ouch." 17 year old home, things start happening, but, oh well. Not much we can do about it. Do not waste your time! Called and scheduled an appointment. Told Saturday between 8A and 1P. Gave the employee the address and phone number to contact if any issues. Gave my husband's phone number as he was the one sitting there waiting while I was at work. Repeated the number twice. Explained he is the one that would be meeting the tech. I get home at 6:30. No show from A1. They did not call him at any point. I go and look at my phone. Got a text at 1:57PM (an hour after appointment window) stating they were running two hours behind. Then a second text at 5:57PM that they were not coming. On a Saturday. He wasted an entire day off. I call this morning asking why they called the wrong number when I never gave them my number I only gave them my husbands. She got mine off caller ID and I told her that was not a good number. So employees clearly do not listen when you have repeated three times that the caller ID number is NOT THE ONE TO CALL. They did it anyway. Pretty much disregarded me stating that they no showed. Then I say I still have to get the door fixed. Next availability is not until THURSDAY. Excuse me, you people no showed on me. We should have been first in line this week, not made to wait another 4 days with an open garage door in the rain and snow. Just lovely. Do not waste your time on this company. They do not listen and do not care when they made a mistake wasting an entire day for someone and then have ZERO sense of urgency in correcting the issue. I would have been absolutely fine if the employee would have said, we can get someone out today, even if it were late. I would not care, but Thursday when you no showed on Saturday. We have used A1 Garage twice now. Both times they were very responsive and worked to get someone out right away. The first time they had to replace our main garage door and we also opted to get a new smart opener. The second time they had to break into our small garage because we had no remote openers that were programmed and no manual way to get in. Jeremiah arrived within the hour. What I really like is the company sends a text telling you they are dispatching a tech. They also send a second text with a picture of the technician and a little personal bio about them. Finally, Jeremiah called me to let me know he was 20 minutes away. Within the hour, he was onsite and listening to the issue. He offered several options, some better than others, and let us choose. He explained the pros and cons and also educated us on several garage door facts. Not only was he able to get the door open, he was able to connect everything correctly and program our openers. He lubed up the door, checked to make sure everything was working. This time we also chose to replace the spring as it was 3 times heavier than the safe dead weight and was 20 years old. Overall, they were timely and very professional. Now, there was a bit of an upsell, which is to be expected, as they offer a yearly maintenance service for $150. If you have an issue within the year and it's a quick fix, they will pop by and take care of you. If it needs a more involved repair, the maintenance plan offers a 10% discount. Also, if you are military or a senior, you get a 5% discount. I believe they also offer a lifetime guarantee of their work. For $39, they'll do a check and tune-up. At least, that is how I understand it all. Best to call them directly and ask. As far as price, I can't speak to that as I don't know how they compare to other garage door companies. Getting at least 3 estimates would probably be a good idea. Even if they are more expensive than others (and again, I don't know how they compare), I can say, without a doubt, they are very professional, polite, timely, and knowledgeable. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Jeremiah fixed everything right up and was a very polite and professional technician. I would call him in the future if I have issues with my garage door. I found myself in need of a new garage door. A1 came highly recommended from a friend, and guess what.... I was able to schedule my initial consultation ONLINE without talking to anyone. I appreciate an opportunity to schedule online and not have to talk to anyone. Trevor was prompt, knowledgeable & friendly. He was very helpful with helping me understand the process and allowing me to ask questions. He was upfront about potential delays with garage door freight - advising me in November that my garage door wouldn't arrive until March. While this was disappointing, it was out of our control. We completed the order & initial purchase and I was told I would get a call in March when my garage door arrives. I was beyond surprised when I got a call early January advising my garage door had arrived early & they could install it the following week. Bevan & Trevor installed my garage door last week - they were friendly, professional, thorough & very efficient - I was very impressed with a complete garage door install, replacement of tracks & motor, took just over 2 hours to complete. Professional but VERY pushy. Clearly work off of commission. We made it clear we just wanted the door replaced. The sales technician pushed us to get a new motor (ours works) and a new spring (he said it was broken but we got it replaced less than a year ago and no one else said it was broken) We got a few quotes from other places and they were $2200 and $3000. A1 was $4300. They were very pushy, demand to sit down to go over the quote even though they were asked to simply email it and we would talk it over separately. Overall, I do not recommend A1. They're very pushy on sales and high cost. They're in it for the money and not to help the customer. read more

I am updating my review for A1 Garage to point out additional issues I had with them. My experience with A1 was a classic example of taking advantage of a female senior citizen. Technician Cecil was very personable, BUT A-1 has obviously trained their staff to focus on customer service in order to gouge the customers financially with the cost of repairs. With my car stuck in the garage that had a broken spring and no way to open it, Cecil explained that both springs would need replaced along with cables and gave me a quote of $1900+. I could not believe the exorbitant pricing and felt completely trapped knowing I could not get my car out. I signed the contract and after starting the work, Cecil approached me with additional costs for bearings. I let him know I felt I was being taken advantage of. He responded that he removed some charges from the original quote so with the added bearings, the bill would "only" be $2000+. I have to ask, "why was able he able to remove some charges but yet milk me fro an additional $100?" I looked all of these parts up online and in choosing the most expensive prices I could find, I only came up with no more than $400 in parts. So the way I look at it, A1 charged me $1600 for 1.5 to 2 hours labor. What a scam! I will never call A-1 again for repairs. AND, I HAVEN'T EVEN BEEN PROVIDED WITH A RECEIPT OR ITEMIZED INVOICE FOR THE $2000 THAT I PAID!! read more

When the tech came out, I was told the mat for my garage door was a special order and not included in the promotion. I called them for in the first place. I'll write an update on my review for A1 because my Technician, Robert, was seriously so cool and he did a great job on the install of a new motor and garage pulley/spring system. My first review was accurate and I was very displeased with the clicker job that was done and a week late my garage door completely not working. Getting it fixed yesterday was a must and Robert did everything he could to get it working again but we discussed possible future issues so we came to a conclusion that a new motor needed to be installed. Guys, where have I been? This system is new and quiet and I can open my garage door from anywhere in the world with my phone! The LED lights on the motor are bright and they have a motion sensor when I walk into the garage. I am so excited about this. Yes, it was super expensive and I cringed after swiping my card but in due time I think it was the best decision. read more
