When our garage door stopped working and a cable was hanging disconnected, panic attack!! We got it closed and called The Door Man because the sticker was on our wall by the garage door opener button. The last service was 2021. The person in the phone said someone would call the next morning 7-8am o make an appointment to check it out. Quick response is important in a situation like this especially in the winter. Teague is the young man who was the serviceman who came at the appointment time and shortly afterwards, everything was fixed! If you need a new garage door look no further! This company was incredible to work with. The owner was extremely friendly, responsive, and had great communication. I also found that our door was very reasonably priced and a little less expensive than some other door shops in town. They were super fast too, got our garage door replaced within four hours, and it even opens up now with wifi on your phone which is wild. We had to purchase a custom sized door but they were very upfront about the timeline for ordering and being able to place the door up, taking roughly two months for the door to come in. I have used The Door Man for garage door repairs a number of times and they are excellent. Today, I awoke to a door that would not open more than a few feet off the ground. I called the office, got the owner, Randy, and explained situation and needed it looked at as I couldn't get the car out. After checking his morning schedule he told me he could fit me in right away. I live in Reno. Watch out for this outfit...at time of booking, no mention of a surprise $12 'fuel surcharge', then they charged exactly $4.22 per minute for labor! Parts were basically priced in line with big box stores. Tech was very friendly and competent. Requested service to repair uneven door, repair man came out. Charged us $200 for "full-service and tune up" , fuel surcharge. Replaced the bottom seal that didn't need to be changed... Left the job, nothing fixed. Took full advantage of my wife! Even after she called the owner out of concern. My garage door refused to open unless you were 6 inches from the controls. The car wouldn't program, the signal would just not work!! I asked for help and instead of charging me to come out, he asked me a question...Was I using LED lightbulbs in my unit? Very very happy with their work! Randy spent a lot of time explaining the difference between a few different brands to make sure I picked the correct one. Joe was the one who came out to install the garage doors and not only did he do a great job, I felt very comfortable with him at my home alone with me and my daughter. (Even to the point where I had to leave my house for a bit and trusted to leave him there alone). Although they weren't the cheapest, for a little bit extra, I got amazing service. Joe also went over with me how to oil and keep my new garage door so it will last longer. They add an extra seal around the outside and an extra support beam on the sides which I really like too. Our springs broke on our garage door. I called Door Man and they showed up in about an hour and a half. David and Randy fixed the springs, put on better rollers and serviced the door. They showed me their concerns with our current set up and gave suggestions. Explained what to watch for and prices for future. They were done in a short time and we are up and running again. He had all the materials and tools with him and it was accomplished in an hour. Revised 6/18: I called on a Saturday to get my Lift Master garage door opener fixed which had a broken circuit board. I explained the product and the problem. They got me an appointment Monday afternoon to do the repair. Once they arrived they explained that to replace the board would require sending away for the part and the cost of Installation would bring the cost to about $325.00. They recommended that a new unit be installed as it would only be about $150.00 ($465.00 and $65.00 for a keypad since the old one of another brand will not work) so I agreed. However, they do not carry Lift Master, only Genie. The Genie was a belt drive and was much quieter in operation and had some nice features that the Lift Master did not. Everyone I dealt with was courteous and helpful. Besides being amazingly quiet, the belt driven opener has a 15 year warranty as opposed to the 5 year warranty on the chain drive. The Bad: I could not program the car Homelink openers despite following the directions (and having done it many time with my old opener), finally got two programed but not the third and had to call the company and have them come out which they immediately did and got it programmed. Consumer reviews on Amazon and other online sites give this model and all Genie products bad reviews but the Owner tells me that he only sells the top of the line Genie openers and that he, personally, stands behind the products and honors the warranty even if there are problems with Corporate. Should I experience unresolved issues with the opener in the future I will downgrade my review. Up till now I am very pleased with the personalized service by The Door Man! read more
