We had such a great experience working with Gerson and his crew. From the beginning, he was timely,…read moreprofessional, honest, and easy to communicate with. Our backyard has been very neglected over the years and we finally decided it was time to do something with it. Gerson offered to come by within 24 hours of contacting him and spoke with us about our (very loose) vision. Our yard is large, full of dirt, and we have some awkward spacing because we built a stand alone office in the back between the house and another shed. We wanted something minimalist, clean, and easy to care for. He took measurements and gave us some suggestions. He even took the time to meet and walk us through a nursery to help us choose plants that fit our vision, and his recommendations turned out perfect. The crew worked fast, even in the Arizona heat and a few days of rain, and the quality of their work really shows. They absolutely transformed our backyard with new irrigation, pavers to lengthen our patio area, new rock, a small grass for our dog and baby, and landscaping, and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out. They stayed on schedule, kept the work area clean, paid attention to the details and gave suggestions as they went. Gerson kept us updated with photos even while we were out of town for a few days and they were working. If you're looking for someone who takes pride in their work and truly cares about the finished product, I highly recommend Gerson. We would (and will) absolutely hire him again.

Prior to starting he confirmed multiple times that it would be a two-zone setup, per text messages. After the installation, I found out from a different landscaper that only one zone was actually connected. So now I can't control how much water my trees versus smaller desert plants get. I reached out SEVERAL times over SEVERAL weeks to give him the chance to come back and check it, but he completely stopped responding. He claims he stands behind his work with a 2 year warranty, but so far that is false. This isn't the only issue either. We have dying plants because the drip lines barely reach them. Plants and trees falling over because of not enough support and also slowly dying from improper watering from not having a 2 zone system. AND a few days after the job was complete I noticed he cut up my backwash hose line for the pool pump. He claimed he didn't see it at first but him and his crew were literally the last ones in that area. He reluctantly shipped me a new backwash hose but didn't want to come install it so I had to do it myself because he stopped responding. Yes, maybe it's easy to install but why should I have to fix your mistake??? Promising one thing and delivering something different is completely DISHONEST. Now I'm stuck paying another contractor to fix all the other problems. I've been patient and gave him enough opportunity to resolve any issues before leaving a review, but being ignored for weeks leaves me with no other choice. I hope this helps others when deciding who to hire.

Mike with Traders Trunk came personally recommended from a friend when I was shopping around so I called him and a few other contractors to give me quotes. Not only did my rehab turn out great, it came in at a very reasonable cost, much better than anything you'll get from the likes of major retailers and better than or competitive with other independent contractors. I've had other contractors come in for large-ish jobs in the past and none have ever stayed within budget or timeline, so when I was told the work could be started within the week and finished in under three, I suspended my belief. I was pleasantly surprised when the work was completed within the timeline and within 5% of the original quote. The cost overages were mostly due to discovery of minor items like a door lock and other supplies that I overlooked as needing to be replaced during our initial walk through and quote. I'll certainly be calling out Mike for any future home repairs, remodels and maintenance work I need done and dont have the time or knowledge to do myself.

Set up a time for an estimate for some raking and weed whacking on an rv lot. Made sure to ask if I…read moreneeded to be there as we were in the process of moving out. He said I did not. The next day he text at a time I wasn't available and left shortly there after when he didn't get a response. When I did answer about an hour later, I reminded him I wasn't there and explained what I needed done since some of his text were looking for clarification. Once that happened he pushed for a next day meet up, I'm almost guessing he expected to do the yard work right then and there, which would explain his frustration with me. I told him I didn't need it done yet, and I would contact him back when we were ready to schedule. Once I did get back to him to schedule something, he proceeded to bitch me out about how badly I wasted his time when I didn't answer before. I had mentioned I wouldn't be there, so if he clarified he may need to call or text, I would have been by the phone. I explained this and apologized for my part, and proceeded to schedule something the next week. We said we'd touch base the week of maintenance to confirm with each other. When I contacted him the Thursday because I had not heard from him, he proceeded to be unsure of who I was or what we spoke of at all. When I remind him, he then says he can't on the Saturday I requested now, it would have to be Wednesday. My lease was up Monday, and the yard work had to be done that weekend. I had explained this all many times before to him. With one day left of the work week, he left me utterly screwed to find anyone else. Honestly, find it fairly obnoxious he made such a big deal of wasting someone's time for an unpaid estimate after all the shinangins he pulled just trying to get a yard the equivalent of a 3 car garage cleaned. Completely hypocritical. I tried to find someone last minute and came up empty so when he suggested he could do it first thing Friday morning I agreed. But again, I warned I would not be available by phone as I was moving my rv that day. Said it was fine and the job would be $100. Friday rolls around and while I'm in the middle of nowhere, towing a 16k pound fifth wheeler down south, I start getting texts 3 hours after he said he's originally be there asking, where I was. When I already explain I a) wouldn't be there and b) wouldn't be reachable. Thankfully I wasn't in a cell dead zone yet. Once AGAIN I reiterated what needed done because he was thinking he was just whacking a handful of weeds. Feeling very uncomfortable sending money ahead when he requested payment, we agreed half up front, half at the end. While he was rushing and spamming me for his first payment, he then proceeds to tell me he misunderstood how large my yard was and was upping the price. Mind you he'd come out for an estimate (which I understand he probably needed clarification if I had been able to answer) and I contacted a confirmed multiple times before what I needed done. I wanted to end things right then and there but of course Zelle can't refund anything. So I was stuck losing $50 or paying him more to actually do the job. I agreed, he did the job and then spammed for the rest of him money, barely giving me time to do anything. Remember I'm supposed to be towing? All of this was insanely stressful on an already stressful process. The work was completely decently, and that's the only reason he got 2 stars. But the whole process to get there shouldn't have been that hard. If you have special instructions or a schedule you need to adhere to I would not recommend this person.
