This was such a great experience for my nine year old daughter and I. We booked ahead online and didn't have any issues when checking in. He talked us into doing a tad more vigorous rapid, (he wasn't trying to upsell us, but we were the only two that selected the lesser rapids and he was just letting us know that we would be getting off the river and rejoining. It was easier for everyone if we just stayed on the entire time.) We both enjoyed it thoroughly. Our guide, (his name escapes me, sorry! I know he is from Salida), was unbelievable and so accommodating of my daughter the entire time, making sure she was okay. He was SO nice and friendly and really funny. He also pointed out local points of interest that was pretty interesting. This is a great place and is the only place that I would go through for rafting in Fort Collins. read more

The white water rafting and our guide Caleb was fantastic and so much fun. The 30 min ride to rafting was squished and hot but I get it we were there on the busiest week of the year. Also the process to buy pictures was absolutely ridiculous. There was no organization in it at all. We had to sit and watch slideshows to find what number pic ours was to buy. Seems like there is a way to make that an easier process for your customers. Would most definitely do again from this company but I do believe they could make some improvements on the photography and the way pictures are sold. read more

My family took the 1:00pm Wild & Scenic trip on the Cache la Poudre with the crew at A1 Wildwater. If I had to give a brief summary it would be, AMAZING trip, phenomenal river guide, wonderful life-long memory with my wife and teenage daughters, and wished we could do it all over again! Now a little more. We made reservations 4 weeks in advance which was a very smart move as the spots filled up very quickly and had we waited to get a spot day of, or even a week or two earlier it would have been slim pickings for a family of four. We arrives and check-in was simple. Enter, fill out waivers, give our name and ID and they had our reservation already printed out at desk. Next was to wait a bit for the guides to finish with the earlier group which was just arriving when we got there. Then we were fitted for PFD and helmets and then had an incredibly informative and yet entertaining safety briefing by Kevin aka "River Jesus." Following the briefing we headed to the bus to begin the ride to the put in which took about 25 minutes. I will say that we arrived 30 minutes early and we did not actually get into the water until nearly 2 hours later, so patience is important, but was still well worth it. Our guide Zach was incredible. He was funny (OK, maybe we laughed at his jokes so he wouldn't feel bad). :-) In reality beyond his great humor, he was an excellent instructor and then once on the river was so encouraging and provided expert guidance. This not only kept us all feeling confident in our abilities but he got us on the best lines through the rapids and even challenged us to try some challenging maneuvers which we handled as a team. With that said, all the other guides had a high level of enthusiasm and watching the other rafts it seemed that they equally had a great time. In short, reserve early, prepare to wait a bit, expect the water to be COLD (don't worry, you warm up within the first few minutes), prepare to work for your fun (yes, you are not on a ride, you are on a team), but know it will be the most memorable fun you can imagine. Oh my gosh, this place is amazing. We conquered the "wild and scenic" trip with our incredible guide, Delaney (aka Diesel). The entire team at A1 is focused on safety first and ensuring their guests are taken care of. Delaney explained what challenges we were facing next and helped our family team work together to create amazing memories along this beautiful river! Four class IV rapids and a bunch of class III were presented to us and while we were nervous after the safety meeting (explaining what to do if.....), we witnessed our guide and her team rescue another group's members after a flip. They were so calm and reassuring the whole time. It was truly a spectacular trip! read more

This was a great experience for our family. I can't go because of a bleeding disorder, but the other 4 people I live with went and had the best experience of all of the things that we did while we were in Colorado. For those of you who are reading this and worried what I did, I went beer tasting at New Belgium and was fine. But my wife and 3 kids went rafting, and they had wonderful things to say about Ben, their guide, and his ability to coach them on short notice to have the skills to be decent basic rafters. The people here prepare you for the trip ahead of time, and everyone in my family was confident that they could do the things that they needed to do in order to keep themselves afloat and to help other rafters. It was truly a 5 star experience, and they had so much fun explaining all of their adventures to me as we drove back when we were done. A1 is highly recommended. read more

We had a fantastic adventure rafting. We did a half day trip that included a 9-year old and two grandparents (in their 60s). It was a strenuous activity for all adults. Our guide, Damon, was a little rough around the edges at first, but within a few minutes being on the water, I realized it was entirely for our safety. I felt completely safe on his raft and we never flipped over or had anyone fall out of our raft. It was so much fun and was a memorable experience. We would definitely do it again. Did the (Wild Scenic Canyon Rafting) about 2 1/2 hours on the river. The staff goes over Quick- Simple safety instructions. Instructions on how to to raft if you've never done it before which is very helpful. Went the last weekend of the tour/river that was available for this tour- since they were getting ready to close the white water rafting for the season. Low tide, and a lot of rocks, but plan to attend next year for an adrenaline rush In May Or JUNE! We ran a set of rapids twice...it seemed that we were set for a third but then we didn't. I'm not sure if that is a function of better advertising with the other group (RMA and Wanderlust)...or a function of those customers knowing something I don't. We planned to go white water rafting while in Colorado so I called around to a few places and by far A1 was the nicest on the phone. They explained everything so we could plan our trip accordingly. We had so much fun we decided to do it again a few days later. They really appreciated that we returned and a few employees even remembered our names :) The price is about the same as the others in the area. The price of the photos afterwards was great. This wouldve been a 5 star experience for the actual rafting and guide, but it did not live up to my expectations. I read on their website that trips are between 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the trip you took. So, I assumed we'd be on the water much longer. We selected the beginner trip as I've never done wildwater rafting before. No mention that the total time on the water would be under an hour and they actually drop you off, unload, and you raft for 25 to 30 minutes only to load back up, drive more, and then then repeat for another 25 to 30 minutes. It was crazy. I would have picked the longer trip, but I wasn't sure about the skills needed. The ride was great. Never felt uncomfortable other than the water being freezing. Our guide was great. I just wish I had been informed thatd I'd be taking 2 mini rides instead of 1 1.5 to 2 hour one. read more

We had so much fun with A1! I would go with them every time. Our group went on the class 3 & 4 trip down the Poudre River, and it was a blast! Our guide Andy was great; she gave us great instruction and got us down the river safely in one piece. If you don't want to get too wet, they have jackets you can borrow for no charge. Boots, gloves, and wet suits are available for rental at reasonable prices. If you go, be sure to keep an eye out for their photographer along the way and strike a pose! I Googled "white water rafting" and was brought to a paudre river page which recommended several companies. I actually tried the other 3 first (in the order they were listed) and they were all booked the day I wanted to go. I ended up booking with A1 and I'm glad I did because we had a great experience. Our guide Ben was awesome and confident which made us feel better.. he also had some good jokes to lighten the mood. Felt safe the whole time, we even got stuck on a large rock and Ben had to get out of the boat to get us unstuck and I wasn't nervous at all. Now for the few things I didn't like: when we got there, they convinced us to go on the more advanced trip (class 4 rapids included) - I'm happy they did because it would've been pretty lame if we didn't. We had a lot of fun, BUT I didn't like how we had to pay $15 extra per person to upgrade, and we're the only few people who did. At the point of the trip where the people were supposed to get out of the river to avoid the class 4's, everyone else on the trip (15-20ppl) decided to upgrade and didn't have to pay. I thought that was pretty unfair.. had we known we would've just "upgraded" when everyone else did for free. Another thing the booties were wet and stinky so I paid for them but didn't end up using them... that's on me since I didn't ask for a refund. And last is the pictures are so expensive, even more so online. We wanted to pay for them in person since it's cheaper, but stood at the counter for 15+ mins and didn't want to wait so we left. Still 5 stars and overall great experience, just giving some feedback! Would 100% recommend. read more

I've been here two times now. Both experiences have 10 out of 10. Our second trip here was by far one of funniest adventures I've been apart of. Our guide, Will, was very knowledgeable of the river and the rapids. Will was having a tough day because of some unfortunate circumstances but he kept a positive attitude the entire trip. He worked us hard but because of that we went down certain rapids that others did not because he trusted us. The water was cold, the mountains were beautiful, and the weather was perfect. Our group had so much fun on the intermediate run with our guide Hansen/handyman hansen/handstand hansen. He. was. awesome! He took us through fun/scarier little rapids that other groups were avoiding, while still making sure we were safe. We went in a "toilet bowl" rapid and we "slayed the dragon"... which was so much fun. Probably the best part of our trip was that Hansen knew so much about the area around the river. He told us lots of cool facts about the various wild life, history of wildfires/floods, cool rock formations and more. We learned a lot, which we weren't expecting but thoroughly enjoyed. The pictures we got were rad. Props to Anthony for standing out in the rain for our pictures. Another shout out to the guy who wore like a button up shirt with mountains or water or something on the bottom? He told us all the safety information before we got on the bus and he's very funny and a good addition to the team. I will definitely want to do a more advanced one next time because there were some mellow parts but thankfully Hansen had some conversation starters and jokes during the flat parts. There is one con... and that is that the gear doesn't smell like it is clean, which I totally understand cause hello, river water.. but it is kinda gross when everyone's on the bus and smells like sweat that isn't theirs. I don't expect the gear to smell like roses but even the smell of any kind of cleaner would be comforting. Anyways. Amazing time. 10/10. Make sure to tip your guide! read more

We initially signed up for the beginner level raft trip, but after talking with the staff we decided to upgrade to a more challenging trip. Our guide, Ben, was knowledgeable and helped us know what to expect before we approached the rapids. At one point, all of us ended up needing to swim to shore, and Ben did a great job keeping everyone calm and safe. We made some great memories, and even got some photos on a flash drive to take home. It was an awesome experience, but I would definitely recommend this trip for folks who swim well. read more

Fun adventure and friendly staff. Good for newbies and beginners, a bit mild for experienced rafters. However, it was still fun for us to go on the run and the scenery is beautiful. Our guide, Rob aka "Rapunzel", was great and taught us about the area. We signed up for the 'wild and scenic'', but were combined with the beginners 'wild waters' group. Not sure how that works considering the difference in cost. A friendly suggestion for the management would be to have all guides be present and introduce themselves during the initial briefing to create unity of a good team vs sitting at a distant table bored. Also, lame joking about tipping at the beginning during the briefing should just be left til after rafting, which was nicely done in a professional manner by one of the guides. read more

We went rafting for the first time today and had a fantastic time. The water was extremely turbulent and high but that made for an even more exciting ride. Our guide was Hunter and he did a great job giving clear directions and making sure everyone was on the same page. I was also very impressed with how the guides worked together to get swimmers to safety when people did (inevitably) fall overboard. Overall I highly recommend this company. They provided us with all of the gear we needed, were professional, safe, and most of all SO MUCH FUN. read more

We had a blast here at A1! My girlfiend talked me into River rafting during our visit! Coming from Los Angeles, where we are in a drought, river rafting isn't usually something we do. So we decided to try it out! I was a little nervous at first since I'm not a strong swimmer and it was our first time. But the guides and the friendly staff took that worried away and made everything fun. Although the water was low ( we went on the last day of the season) there was still enough splash for us. Some people even fell in the water! Our guide Eli/pukahontas was very fun and had the best jokes. Overall if or when I visit Colorado again, i'll definitely be using A1! I recently visited A-1 Wildwater two days ago with my boyfriend and his family. This was all of our first time going white water rafting and we were so excited. After we arrived, we were taken care of immediately. The staff at the front desk were very quick and made sure to cover everything we needed to know or had questions about. We were told where to go to get changed and did just that. After we were all suited up and finished the safety talk, we piled into an old school bus and drove to the entrance. Our instructor, Marley was very helpful and patient with teaching us the proper way to row as well as in unison. It took us a bit to get it down, but once we did it felt like second nature. We had SUCH a fantastic time. The day was beautiful and so were the views. They weren't kidding when they said that this was one of the most beautiful scenic views. Absolutely stunning. The only oopsie we had was the first time we went over 'Kamikaze' my boyfriend and his mother ended up going overboard. We didn't hit it with enough speed and we definitely payed for it! They ended up getting back into the boat safely and we continued our journey. We were able to go down three times! We wished it would have been more, but I'm sure this won't be the only time we visit. The pictures they captured of us were awesome and they ended up getting some really great action shots. Especially of my boyfriend and his Mother when they went overboard. Pretty cool. I would definitely recommend coming here. The manager (whom we spoke with for about 10 minutes) was super friendly and very welcoming. Marley was an amazing instructor and very good at what she does. We couldn't ask for a better instructor. PLEASE give A-1 Wildwater a try, I promise you won't be disappointed! read more

Went on the wild and scenic trip and it was definitely worth it! We were able to hit many class 3 and 4 rapids making the trip challenging and exciting at the same time. I went during the early season when water levels are high and cold. Good thing they provide wet suits, booties, and a splash jacket during early and late season since I get really cold in the water. There was a photographer following the group taking pictures at most of the turns and bridges but unfortunaly I forgot to take a look at them when we got back to the shop. I was more focused on getting myself warm and bathing in the sun. All of the guides are super outgoing and helpful. I would definitely recommend this river as something to try once. read more

I had a very enjoyable run down the Poudre on the 1st day of the season. The raft and equipment were top knotch. There were four of us on the wild and scenic trip. Mike was an excellent guide and gave us a heads up -before every rapid, with its name . Shout out to support team Kumar, photographer and driver, Betty in the office. This was my first time whitewater rafting, and I want to go again! We were lucky to still be able to raft for Labor Day weekend, as excess mountain snow melts made it possible. The conditions were fairly tame, but just fine for beginners like us. We did the Wildwater Trip (ie: rafting for dummies), also fine for beginners like us. There's free wetsuit use, which is a good idea. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous. Canyon and hill views. Our guides were hilarious and entertaining. To keep things interesting, they have little rivalries. We got a group stuck on rocks, so that guide had to get our guide pizza and beer. We got along great with our fellow rafters, had a lot of fun on the river. At one point, they let you swim a brief rapid. Also great fun (but cold). read more

Three of us went rafting over Memorial Day Weekend with A-1 and had a blast. The river was wild, the staff is friendly and the guides are very entertaining and personable. We did the Wild & Scenic Trip and the total cost was $180 ($60 each). All of the gear is included: wet suits, helmets and rain jackets. For an extra $7, you can get wet suit booties to keep your feet warm. I highly recommend this if it's cold out. I didn't and my feet were numb all morning. This was my favorite part of my trip to Colorado. If you haven't done it before, Whitewater Rafting can be pretty high-excitement fun and the guides that work at A-1 make it even better. Our guide (Doug) gave us a lot of history on the area, and was very personable and funny. Also, the company has a photographer that takes photos of every boat at several points along the river. The shots are great but somewhat expensive. We ended up purchasing two photos, which cost $23 to have emailed to us. My only complaint about this company, is that check-in was frustrating. Everyone arrived for several trips at the same time and the office staff is small. I suggest that they train some of the guides to help out to get everyone through the line faster. TIP: If you go, be sure to tuck your feet into your raft as far as you can. I almost fell out several times which was pretty scary, but it also helped make the trip even more fun. read more
