Warning I have moved many times and used different moving companies in the past to move across the country. My experience with Beacon Moving & Storage/ A1A movers by far is the worst. 1) First issue: I was giving a quote for about $2000 (from Beacon Moving and Storage) to move my apartment furniture from Orlando to Austin. The estimate is based on the list of all items I provided to the sales agent. After the movers (A1A movers) loaded my furniture in the truck I was told that I had double the square footage of items and the cost will about $4000 to move the furniture. I tried to reach the salesperson to understand why there is a huge discrepancy between the original quote and actual charge. I couldn't get a hold of anyone in the office and nobody return my messages. I was stuck and I had no choice but to agree to the new charges since I had to check out of my apartment that afternoon. Be aware, they intentionally give you a low quote to attract you, then once they know you stuck with them they really screw you. They are very professional in doing that. 2) The second issue: The furniture was delivered to Austin on a big 18 wheeler truck. The truck driver told me he can't drive the truck to my apartments complex and it's my responsibility to unload my furniture from his truck to bring it to my apartment. I was charged an additional $800 on top of the original $4000 to unload the furniture from the large truck into a small truck then to bring it to my apartment. 3) The third issue: Every single piece of my furniture was damaged after delivery (bed frame, dresser, dining table, coffee table, end table, tv stand, night stands, etc...). Now I'm fighting with this company about the furniture damage. I'm not sure if I can get any money back for the damaged items. My furniture was new and expensive. This move with this company is absolutely nightmare. I leaned my lesson, I would definitely use a reputable moving company (Allied, Mayflower, etc). They may seem more expensive at first but maybe they end up cheaper than the other guys. Honestly, I prefer to sell the furniture on my own for whatever price or even donate it to charity rather than giving the business to these guys. read more

1200 mile move. Was told crew had plenty of blankets to protect furniture. The crew wrapped furniture in plastic, but I don't think they used any blankets. Almost every piece of wood was either gouged, scratched, broken, or rub-burned. They may be okay for local moves, but would never recommend for long haul. Would only pay minimum as requred by Texas law for damages 250 for thousands in damages. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! BE SURE TO REPORT THEM TO THE BBB AS WELL!!! I ALREADY FILED A COMPLAINT AGAINST THIS COMPANY!!! These Idiots moved me on August 12th, 2021... I'm disabled and will be 60 this year. I sold my home and made the mistake of using these guys to move me. I paid for 3 MEN to come and move everything in my home to a storage unit. What I got was 3 VERY YOUNG boys that couldn't care less what they damaged or how they were handling my belongings. They actually ripped a huge hole in the linoleum in the Kitchen when they were moving my brand new (1 year old) Refrigerator. EVERYTHING that went out the door literally bounced down every step on the way to the truck... When i said something to them about the way they were handling my belongings the lead Boy actually told me that it wasn't his department and to talk to the Owner!! Because they had never moved anything into a storage unit before (I did ask them about this) they couldn't fit everything into it and had to bring a bunch of boxes and furniture to where I'm staying. They broke one of the wrought Iron legs off of my dining room table by literally dragging it off of the truck lift that will now have to be welded back together, (Pics Attached) there are dents all over the front and back of my new fridge, (Pics Attached) and my clearly marked box of dishes was at the bottom of a stack of boxes. (Pics Attached) I asked them to shrink wrap my Turntable as I didn't have a box to put it in and they said they would wrap it in the truck. As you can see, it was not wrapped and is sitting half sideways in the storage unit. (Pics Attached) God ONLY KNOWS WHAT IS DAMAGED INSIDE THE STORAGE UNIT!! (Pics Attached) I called the Owner and was told the same crap about only being able to pay .60 cents on the dollar for any damage that they boys did.... (Scrap Price!!!!). The Owner said that they aren't responsible for damage due to the way I packed when I asked him about my dishes... I informed him that my packing was NOT the issue, it was his lazy ass boys way of handling my stuff that was the problem...Out of a $787 moving bill the owner gave me $390 credit for the damage to the Linoleum flooring at the house that I just sold and for the damage to my fridge. He refused to pay for anything else at all!!!! I had to pay the new owner of the house $200 for the ripped Linoleum, so all I got really was $190 for the damage to my Fridge and nothing else.... The Owner does not give a damn about anyone or anything but the bottom line... he doesn't care what his very inexperienced boys damage, that is evident by his off handed responses and cheap payoff... I will do everything in my power to get this ruthless. careless Company out of Business!!! I'm Reporting them to anyone and everyone that will listen, I hope everyone else that has been treated as I have will do the same thing!!!!! DON'T LET THIS SAD EXCUSE OF A COMPANY REMAIN IN BUSINESS!!!! read more

Very disappointing move using A1A Moving. Not only were multiple items damaged in the move, we were charged more than what was quoted when we called for an estimate. An antique dresser that has been in my family for years was damaged beyond repair. A chunk was knocked off of a bed frame that my husband handmade himself and there are multiple scratches on our wood floors from furniture they moved into the house. Definitely not going to recommend this company to any of my family or friends. read more

They Refused to move what they thought was too heavy. We have reached out to management and have received no response. Hope this helps someone avoid a nightmare. read more

Disaster! They scratched, ripped, broke almost every piece of furniture I have, not to mention door frames & walls at both houses. They were extremely unprofessional. When we showed them a piece of wood that they broke, one of the movers called us F#$%ing Retared ". I would NOT recommend them to anyone. I still can not find all the pieces to my sons bed; I even gave him a baggy. Yes, they are cheaper but it's not worth it. Yes, the owner gave me a discount, but $120 does not replace or fix what was damaged. The owner also refuses to take responsibility and pretty much called me & my husband liers. read more

Do NOT use this company, under any circumstances. We sustained a lot of furniture damage for a move less than 10 miles. They do not stand by their service. They have fought me every step of the way on my claim. I placed a partial dispute with my credit card company and now they have threatened to send me to collections. I have provided every bit of info they have requested. By their own calculations, we should be paid $498 in damages, which does not even come close to what it is going to cost to repair and replace our items that were damaged. They want to settle for $228 max. Now, since I have a dispute opened, and they were informed about this, they turned me over to collections and will no longer communicate with me. This is the worst company. Their quality is horrible, their staff is terrible, they are slow to communicate if they ever communicate. I had to constantly badger them for communication. This move is going to cost us a lot of money, to recover from all of their damages. Do NOT use them. If I could rate a zero, I certainly would have done so. Be warned, find another company that is reputable, does good work, and stands behind their service. read more
