We just had our door replaced by American Garage (Great company!) and this is when I found out what happened in May of 2015 when A1A Overhead Door replaced our LiftMaster Garage door opener. Immediately after A1A replaced it, the controls never properly worked, most of the time it would go up, but you had to hold down the button on the main panel until it fully closed. Immediately after installation, my wife called the company and spoke with the owner, whom was very rude to her and never came back out to address the issue. When American Garage came out to replace our garage door, I told the gentleman that we had the opener replaced in '15 and it has never properly worked. Come to find out that one of the sensors was bad; he said that anytime a new system is installed, new sensors come with it, these were the original sensors, which were 19 years old at the time. So, screw me once, but never twice... go elsewhere!!! read more

I had a wood garage door that was rotten, and I needed to replace it. I researched the price of a one car garage door so I would have an idea of what to expect. I called many companies and was not impressed by their add-ins. When I spoke with A1A Overhead Garage Door Companny they caught my attention. The honesty, quality of work and not being pushy. I have dealt with many companies in my years as a homeowner and some were decent but not great. For the first time I have been impressed, A1A Overhead Door Company was very honest in suggesting the work i needed and they were not pushy. The attention to detail by the technician was awesome, and their customer service is awesome. They sent someone prior to starting the work to survey since I did not request estimate. A1Aoverhead Door are outstanding. They show up on time and complete their work in a clean professional manner. I feel comfortable they will not do unnecessary work. I have 3 oversized garage doors with 17 year old openers so there is always something needing adjustment. Ryan didn't even make fun of me when I called them out because I couldn't get the door open only to find I had painted the doors closed. He patiently cut the paint seal and released the doors. I had work done on a rental in Jacksonville and they were fast, efficient, reasonably priced, and fixed the problem.....With a warranty to return if anything happened again.....It did and they returned and readjusted the door and didn't charge me a dime extra....They stand by their word....My renters and I were completely satisfied as this was an emergent need for them...I will use them again for any of my other properties! Run don't walk away from this 1 man nightmare of a business. He installed a garage door and I called to have him come back and repair the trim around the door. It took a few days. I must admit I did not pay him that same week and he went ballistic with texts and phone calls. He even went as far to disassemble and remove the door later. He later filed a lien against my property for non-payment after he stole the door back off the house!! I called him on it and of course denied it. I asked the neighbors and two of them saw him removing the door. Please do yourself a favor and do not use this company and btw A1A charges at least 10% more than the competition for the same door (I learned later). read more

We noticed that some of the guide wheels were not on the track. The tech arrived on time and fixed the problem quickly. I was extremely impressed with A1A from start to finish. When I called for an appointment, they were able to send someone out right away. The tech arrived right on time and really seemed knowledgeable. He fixed the problem in no time. While the company may offer professional customer service via the phone, they certainly do not stand by their work. I used this company on 3- different occasions. Then recently I called them back out to fix work they previously repaired. They referred me to look at my invoice that was not printed, and not to mention the invoice ask for a customer signature to acknowledge work done or suggested. But because their tech writes something down (computerized tablet), which was not the same as what he discussed with us, the company wants to charge me once again to redo the work I previously paid for but they inadequately fixed. If you want to charge someone for work that your company recommended and was not done, I can understand that but not that plus a cost to fix what you previously repaired. If your technicians are experienced enough they should recommend, to the customer if I fix this but not do this your problem will still exist, instead of taking the money and knowing the job was not done properly. I certainly will not recommend this company, but if you choose to be​ sure to ask to see your invoice in full before signing anything. read more

Great company! Quality and effective work

Worst company! They don't stand by their work and have left me with a dangerous situation. July 31, 2020, my garage door spring broke and I phoned A1A Overhead Garage Doors Company, owned by James Fugua. They came out that day and replaced my springs. I also asked for the rest of the system to be given maintenance. Two days later the door was louder than it had ever been and I called to ask them to come back to fix it. They came back out and I was told "you have a heavy door and therefore it's going to make noise." I explained to the employee I have lived here 15 years never had a door make this kind of noise. He adjusted the chain and said that's all he can do. Today, September 6, 2020, the door was struggling to get open and closed and I called a new company, not wanting to deal with A1A as I was not satisfied before. I was told I needed a new motor and the new company went to adjust the springs and discovered that there was a broken piece at the end and he could not even put in his spring adjuster end of the piece. The new company told me it was "too dangerous" due to the broken end piece. He suggested I call A1A as it was only a month old. I did call A1A and they sent a service person out immediately. I was then told by A1A it was "too dangerous" to work on. The employee called James Fugua, Jimmy, on the phone. I asked to speak with him on speakerphone and he refused to speak with me and instructed his employee to leave the property. I called the office and asked to have Jimmy call me within an hour to find a resolve. I told them if he would not call me back I would file a complaint. I have never heard from James Fugua. This company has left their employees, my family, me, or anyone else in danger since the springs can not be adjusted due to the break in the end piece. I tried 2 times to contact them to find a resolve. read more

I was very pleased with this company, it was easy to book with them and they asked me what would work for me. I had two technicians that came out this morning that were very nice, knowledgeable, and quick ( they were done in about 20-30 mins). They did not try and rip me off like the previous company that the home warranty sent. I would recommend them to anyone read more

They came on time and replaced two springs. They seemed to know what they are doing and completed the job quickly. Unfortunately, the price was outrageous ($450). When I called them and inquired about the high cost, I was summarily dismissed. Clearly the guy had heard the complaint before and had his standard B.S. line to feed me. read more

Just installed my own garage door opener, but had to call A1A for a few problems I was having. Duke, the A1A showed up at the time I was told. He was a wealth of knowledge and was very competent. He had the problem fixed in no time at all. Duke also gave us some safety tips that we weren't aware of. A1A's prices are fair, pluses they are insured and have a A+ rating from the BBB. One of my springs went out on my garage door, the door was almost 15 years old and had some damage so I called several companies for estimates. They gave me an estimate over the phone for a new door and springs. The crew showed up on time and really cared about doing a good job. They weren't bothered by my questions about the work to be done and they were professional. The crew did a great job on the installation and they were clean and friendly. The owner followed up with a call to check on the job. It has been over a year and everything works great. One of my relatives needed a new opener (motor part) and I told them to call A1a. Door opener broke. A1A came out. Took them 2 hours to replace a small part and the charge was over $250.00 !! Door was not shutting properly after they left so they came back out. From the minute I answered the door they acted perturbed and told me the problem was not related to what they did. I said that the door worked perfectly before they did the work. Bottom line we reached an impasse. Terrible attitude and in my opinion, very overpriced. Don't use them. read more

My door was stuck half open. A new opener and rollers were installed. While rather expensive to replace opener, existing opener was almost 15 yrs old. New one is quieter and attached to ceiling more soundly. Efficient, friendly service; estimate before work began. I called midmorning and my door was fixed by late afternoon. Yesterday something they'd worked on before broke and when they arrived today to work on it told us it would be $200 for them to fix something that they did not fix correctly the last time they were here. Horrible customer service. Had A1A install a new opener only to be told after the fact that it is not compatible with the Homelink transmitter in our 2011 car. Was told that Liftmaster brand units - which admittedly I had originally requested - will only work with Homelink systems from 2014 & up. I am not a garage door professional, which is why I called these guys to do the install. Liftmaster was a quality brand that I was aware of from previous use, never for a minute thinking it would not be workable with our fairly late model car. I was extremely frustrated that no one asked me if I wanted the new unit to work with my car's system. Seems like a fairly basic & standard question for an installer to ask, as almost every modern car has a Homelink system built in. Spoke to the owner of the company and he was just as apathetic as was the technician. Couldn't care less about my concerns. read more
