After asking for quotes from the top garage companies here on Yelp and spending a LOT of time scheduling and discussing what's actually needed.... Jerome gave the best quote, most direct answers and quality service by MILES. First off, unlike the competition, working with Jerome feels more genuine and that you are truly working with a local master of his craft. The interactions don't feel corporate or disconnected where you say something to a dispatcher and get something else from the actual contractor. This made communication way easier and things did not get lost in translation as Jerome is very accessible via phone and email. Secondly, I had to harass the other garage companies to get replies back whereas Jerome set a schedule, we got updates, and timelines were kept. Last but not least, pricing is incredibly fair, to the point where someone else also pointed out that they even felt like he undercharged a slight bit. The quotes I was getting elsewhere ranged from $700-1500 more than what was Jerome quoted showing how much of a rip off the other places are. 10 years later and Jermone is still my garage door guy providing outstanding service. I really enjoyed reading my two prior reviews and realizing how long it has been, and I'm incredibly thankful that he is still in business. There isn't ever a convenient time for your garage door to suddenly break on you, and my situation was very much on par with that as I was rushing to make an appointment. I go to open the garage, It lifts about an inch and makes a strained creaking noise and eventually gives up and rolls back down. At the time I had no idea what was wrong and thought it was the belt drive again. Thankfully I had a car available outside of my garage so that I can make my appointment, and then I thought to look up AA okay garage door to see if it was still in business. Gave the number a try and Jerome answered right away. A quick description of the problem and he guessed that it was a broken spring. This seems to be a very common situation and a common repair of his when I got back home and I looked up, well it was very apparent that he was correct and it was broken. I never even noticed it happened. Jerome told me he would have to look at his schedule and could either come the next day or definitely the day after. Well he was able to come the next day after another job and quickly replace the spring with a brand new shiny and much improved one. The whole repair was quick, and I'm not sure if you could say it was easy but he sure makes this all look easy. It's just amazing to get the kind of service that he provides and the quick turnaround that he makes happen. It's been 10 years since I needed to call Jerome about my garage door and I think that tells you everything about his workmanship and the products that he installs. This may be the last time I see Jerome before a very well deserved retirement (don't worry he still plans to continue working for several more years!). A couple of years ago the spring on my rollup garage door broke. Unless we're driving them, our cars are always parked in the garage and now I wasn't able to get them out. I had read good things about AA OK Garage Doors, so I gave them a call. Jerome, the owner, told me over the phone what the cost would be for a new spring and installation. It was very reasonable and I accepted his quote. But, I'd have to wait a few days as he was booked up. When I explained about not being able to access the cars, Jerome promised to stop by that evening to get the garage door open so I could put the cars in the driveway. Turns out Jerome only lives about 2 miles from me. True to his word, Jerome stopped by and made it possible for me to get our cars out. A couple days later he replaced the broken spring. Fast forward 2 years to a couple I'd weeks ago. I press my opener remote and my garage door won't open. It appeared that the drive belt was the problem. For several weeks it had been making a terrible noise and now I could see that it was fraying and teeth were missing in several places. We had a POS opener from another company that lasted just after the 1 yr warranty period, and then for the next few years, would seize up 1:5 to 1:10 times, and not respond to the remotes except to beep obnoxiously. He'll NEVER overcharge you, and he'll tell you if he could repair parts instead of selling you a whole new door. But after Jerome finished replacing two garage doors for me today, I found the uncontrollable urge to write him a nice review to show my appreciation. He is simply a great guy. Before I decided to hire him to work on my project, we had numerous email and phone exchanges where Jerome answered every one of my questions, very patiently. He didn't try to upsell me for more expensive items, and actually persuaded me from spending the extra money on high-end models that don't bring much extra value. For the same grade of products, his price was unbeatable, compared to the quotes I received from other companies. We spent a long day together so I got to see how he worked.
