We already had a very tiny breakfast of leftovers, but wanted something more refreshing, so we asked if we could have a half size of the avocado toast (basically one slice instead of two) and she was able to accommodate and charge us half the price as well. Score! We added a Napi acai bowl on top of it, and we were pleasantly surprised with the additional star fruits and edible flowers. At first I thought the acai bowl could have used a touch of honey, but after digging in a bit more, I found that with the fruits, it was sweet enough. Both the toast and the bowl provided a great variety of textures and were delicious. If we had stayed a few days longer, we certainly would have come back for more. read more

In all honesty, just disappointed overall for flavor, quality and price. I ordered The Buzz açaí bowl. While it looked beautiful, it didn't taste amazing. The açaí mix tasted watered down, not coffee infused like the menu describes. Fortunately the banana, blueberry and chocolate covered espresso bean toppings, along with the PB addition, made the bowl somewhat enjoyable. Just know that the PB is an additional $3 to make the bowl $18 total. However, the receipt has $21. I was not informed of the $2 to go fee (never seen this before) and $1 credit card fee. The register said cash preferred, not that there would be a fee for credit cards. We should have been informed of these prior to payment and I could've opted to eat the bowl there and paid in cash. Furthermore, I found a HAIR in the bowl while eating - talk about not appetizing. See photo - hair is by the spoon. I just picked this out and continued eating since this bowl was expensive. Bottom line, you're better off going anywhere else for an açaí bowl. read more

We dropped by for an açaí bowl and boy were we glad we did! I ordered the dragon açaí bowl and the girlfriend ordered the passion fruit açaí bowl. These bowls are one of the prettiest ones I've had and they also had plenty of açaí and toppings! The passion fruit açaí was extremely sour as they used fresh fruit, but it's perfect if you love passion fruit. The dragon açaí was sooo pink and definitely my favorite. It was so refreshing and the coconut shavings were real flesh and not dried. Overall, this was the best açaí I've had on Maui and I wish it wasn't so far. read more

This place was incredible. My wife got the tofu toast and I got the soba bowl and both were very good and still very different. The soba bowl has a vinaigrette that is more acidic and pairs well with the salty peanut sauce, noodles, lettuce, and other veggies (I added tofu and avocado). The tofu scramble toast was also very good but tasted a bit like spaghetti to me for some reason (just the flavor). Would 100% go again. The service was good (though was order from the counter), and the ambiance was very fitting for the place and cuisine. Aa Roots makes the most drop dead gorgeous food. We ordered two acai bowls and an avocado toast and all were decorated with local flowers. The two bowls (Napi Bowl, Tropical Bowl) were good. They had the same acai base with the only difference in their fruit toppings. The Napi had strawberry and bananas and the Tropical had banana, pineapple, and coconut. The avocado toast was a top notch version. I think it may be because the toast is brushed with oil and griddled so it is extra flavorful. It was topped with generous amounts of smashed avocado, sliced grape tomatoes, sprinkled with sesame seeds and chili flakes for some heat. read more

I was so looking forward to having lunch at AA Roots. I must have come on the wrong day. As we were driving down the coast it was almost their closing time, so I went to the website to see if I could order for pick-up. They have that as an option, but the link only puts you into a chat that is answered when they have time. So anyway, we get there and they are very welcoming. I say I had seen a burger on the website I wanted to try, but couldn't remember the name. (It was the Sassy Burger - Local Adzuki tempeh teriyaki on an everything bagel with pineapple and salad). I didn't see it on the menu in the restaurant. The Choices for a burger I was given were black bean burger and curry chickpea burger. I ordered the curry chickpea. It might have had 3 chickpeas in it (maybe the rest were mashed) and definitely didn't taste like curry, it barely tasted like anything other than the thick slices of pickles that soaked the bottom bun. Speaking of the bun, it was VERY soft, almost mushy. The salad was good. To add to the issues, we took home cinnamon rolls to reheat for breakfast the next day. While it looked done, there was mushy batter in the middle, definitely not frosting. I can't tell you how disappointed I was. read more

While the food people around us ordered looked really good, we were there for acai bowls. We ordered 4 and paid $50! No one really liked theirs too much; very basic ingredients. I ordered mine and told them I have a banana allergy. After leaving I took a bite and tasted banana on the granola-figured they screwed up and put it down and then picked it up. Nope, banana flavor throughout. Don't know if they didn't clean out the blender in between bowls or what. Either way, we won't be back for their acai bowls. read more
