I'm pretty sure this is the best restaurant in the world. On the other side of the island, but make a point to come here to eat. Such amazing choices of creative, fresh, natural concoctions! The presentation is exquisite, not to mention the taste. Also, for in-house orders, no plastic is used to serve the food! We had a pitaya passionfruit bowl and the delicious golden milk smoothie with spices and cardamom!

I appreciate a well made vegan dish. My husband on the other hand refers to it has fake food. However he was pleasantly surprised at the flavor and how much he couldn't tell that it was tofu scramble verse actual eggs scramble. The staff was very friendly and gave us a discount for paying in cash rather than using a credit card. We also got drinks - iced coffee and a matcha latte, both were delicious.

I came by this place because it was in the closest plaza next to where I stayed....Just by luck I see the sign outside for another place I just got food from the night before..... Nice small quaint and clean....a great vibe inside out....BEST OF ALL it is a VEGAN place.... The staff (possibly owner as well) were really nice and even gave me a good hiking spot to go check out..... I grabbed a blueberry muffin to go if I recall they just brought it out so it was hot and that was the best vegan blueberry muffin I ever had.... so good that I got one to go the day I flew out as well to bring on the plane.... I came back after my hike and got a cold soba bowl...it was really good and refreshing.... The next day I got a Breakfast Burrito.... Next time I'm in Maui I am definitely coming back here.....Only thing is I wish they opened later in the day....

It's challenging to come across good vegetarian/vegan food on the island so I was very appreciative to see this vegan establishment. We ended up having breakfast and lunch here on the same day! My family ordered an acai bowl and the breakfast burrito. Both were delicious and plentiful. For lunch we ordered the tostada and soba bowl. The soba bowl was flavorful and tasty while the toastada lacked flavor and was soggy. Service was warm and friendly. Plenty of parking.

This place is great. Family owned and operated. It is vegan and vegetarian friendly with care. Lots of healthy options to grab a smoothie, juice, breakfast or lunch with a healthy mindset on the Lahaina side of Maui. The grace and warmth of the person at the counter was amazing. One protein driven smoothie a day is my way. This was my first morning on Maui and I needed a smoothie to set my day up for success. I had a kale, pineapple, banana with protein powder one and it was delicious. Lots of good, healthy choices here. Kids are accommodated too.

A'a Roots is a real gem for anyone looking for vegetarian and vegan food on the Lahaina side of Maui! I came with my husband and parents, and everyone enjoyed it! We took a while to figure out what we wanted because there were so many good-looking options, but I settled on the Curry Buddha Bowl with the tempeh addition, and I do recommend it! It's a nice flavorful curry without being overpowering, and comes with a lovely red rice. My dad's tofu scramble also came with the same red rice, and he liked his scramble. My mom got the cauliflower tacos, and the sauce really made them shine. My husband got the blueberry pancakes and he was pretty happy with them, too. The decor is colorful and a bit bohemian with some Indian and South American flair, and we thought it was a really cute little cafe! It's apparent that they're there truly for the locals, and doesn't have any touristy vibe, which is always a nice change of pace. It was also pretty busy on a Tuesday for lunch, which I think speaks to the quality of the food. Should we ever find ourselves on Maui again, I would definitely come back to A'a Roots!

Only came here for an açaí bowl so that's all I'm reviewing. Good basic açaí bowl, slightly softer açaí blend. They are definitely generous with the toppings (if you can see the mountain of blueberries I got on mine). However, there was just a little too much granola in the bowl - about a third of my bowl was just granola, and I ran out of açaí to eat it with. If they adjust the balance a little, I think it'd be really good.

Returned this year and still love it! Everything is so fresh and flavorful and big portions. I'm the only vegan one in my family and they love it too. Great place to get breakfast or lunch before or after snorkeling nearby. The staff is super friendly! I left my hat and they kept it for us to pick up the next day. Several tables both outside and inside. We make sure to visit every time we're in Maui!

A must stop on West Maui for vegetarians/vegans/health conscious tourists. Very welcoming to all. Relaxed interior space. Lots of healthy food options that are also delicious. This was my second visit and I will be coming back!

A great açaí bowl served by a super friendly staff. The vibe is very relaxing and they have delicious menu items for your entire party. They usually add a flower to the açaí bowls. It's a small touch, but it makes a world of difference to the customers. Mahalo

A`A Roots is an all-vegan breakfast and lunch spot in Lahaina. They have a fairly healthy menu, and I love their use of edible flowers. I ordered a vegan caesar salad, and it came with the prettiest pinkish-lilac edible flowers! They have a big menu with a lot of choices. I'm attaching photos of the menu. They have soup, salads, sandwiches & wraps, toast (incl GF), buddha bowls, toastadas, bagels, smoothies, smoothie bowls, juices, and coffee. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. It's located in a plaza with a coffee shop where you can buy whole bean Kona coffee to bring home as souvenirs. The coffee shop also has postcards, so you can sit outside and write postcards while you eat your lunch.

SERVICE - located in a small shopping complex in North Maui - parking available in lot - cozy interior with couches for seating - limited indoor seating available - service is quick and gets you your order as soon as it is ready - ambiance good for a casual breakfast MENU - smoothie bowls and savory brunch items - all vegan/vegetarian - average price FOOD - naked burrito bowl (9/10): rice, black beans, cabbage, salsa, and tofu drizzled with avocado and chipotle crema. This is also available as a burrito but i would recommend the bowl if you want to share with multiple people. The tofu was an add on but worth it to boost the protein on the dish. It is a classic blend of rice and beans with fresh vegetables. The star is the chipotle crema as it adds a smoky heat to the dish. - grilled cheese (6/10): housemade cashew cheese sandwiched between two slices of bread. This is simple and it is hard to go wrong with just grilled cheese. I wish there was something more unique to it, maybe a layer of the chipotle sauce or some grilled onions just to give it a unique twist. - dragon bowl (7/10): pitaya, pineapple, banana, and strawberry blend topped with banana, berries, and coconut. We added almond butter for an extra charge. I love how natural the bowls here are. You can tell that they make them to order with fresh fruit that shines in every bite. This one is lighter and more tart than the açaí based ones. - kachava bowl (9/10): açaí, banana, and blueberries blended with kachava superfood mix topped with banana, coconut, blueberries, and cacao nibs. This was my favorite of the dishes we ordered. The addition of the kachava makes the bowl more filling and slightly nutty. If i was only ordering one thing it would have to be this one. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! The ambiance is welcoming, service is friendly, and food is reliably tasty.

I've been coming to AA Roots many times and I always enjoy it. The vegan food is so fresh and incredibly tasty every single visit. You can really feel the love and quality in the ingredients. It's one of my go-to spots when I want something healthy but still satisfying. Highly recommend!

However, as he is now a mid aged teenager and with a developed pallet, we decided to take him. We are from San Francisco so he has grown up going to many fancy restaurants however, in Maui, we tend to be pretty casual and chill. I got on my OpenTable and plugged in our interest because nothing was available the entire 10 days we were there. A few days and I got a ping that a 4 o'clock three top in the bar was available. I snagged it and I'm so happy I did so! Turns out we were right within their happy hour offering so we gladly took advantage and ordered everything off the menu in addition to other items later. The shrimp was incredible the hummus, unique and delicious the pork quesadilla on the rich side, but a nice accompaniment to our appetizer stage of the experience, we got the truffle fries, and as with any truffle fries I've ever had. They were equally delicious. In addition to our main courses, everything was super tasty fresh and well presented. The view and overall environment of the inside bar was incredible. Our accommodations are oceanfront so to still get a wow factor from a restaurant setting other than the sea house notable. The highlight of our experience was our amazing waiter named Dylan, a young man with a polished and professional and friendly approach. He was very attentive and spent time with us, enjoying our stories of life and sharing his own. These were all obviously cliff note versions as he was busy with other tables, but he was really engaging and offered incredible advice on what to order. We have had lots of fine, dining experience, including Michelin star restaurants, and this guy could easily work at any of them however, he did say how happy he was at Merriman's and that says a lot I could tell the staff was all having a good time and enjoying their working experience which then of course the vibe rolls into the guests and their dining experience. I hope the manager reads this and appreciates such a kind young wonderful man working at their establishment and representing to the T. If you're lucky enough to score reservations, definitely go! Oh! And don't forget the vanilla ice cream there is something crazy special. It might be gelato actually whatever it was made all of our heads spin absolutely crazy good. And if you are staying in Napili, it's an easy walk for us. It was like three minutes.

The place is beautiful and modern, albeit loud inside. Also, I'd say it's not the most Hawaiian vibes, if you're going for that specific vibe. The food was really good. It was expensive, but to be expected. I went with the double fish entree and it escapes me what two fish, but it truly was delicious and maybe the best meal on my limited trip to Maui. The ube bread was dough and delicious smothered in their compounded butter. The cocktail was good. My kids ordered ice cream sandwiches, which we were told were small, but they were actually quite big, to the kids happiness. The service was slower, but the place was packed. Our server came around and took drink orders right away, like we barely had time to look at the menu. I felt rushed. I think his name was Sean. I ended up with a Mai Tai, which I didn't really care for. It was different than other and had a spice (like cinnamon or something with some other spices) taste to it. We ordered a couple order of bread for the table. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, however our knives and appetizer plates were cleared before the bread was finished and knives were not replaced. Halfway through our server offered kids water cups to my 5 and 7 year old. We also had to ask what the fish or the day was then had to ask how it was prepared. Server was awkward and would randomly come over and hover. Food arrived and everyone seemed happy with their meals. I ordered the shrimp & scallops and like other reviewers said, it was very bland, shrimp was over cooked but my scallops were perfectly cooked. We ordered desserts to split amongst us. Cheesecake was my favorite, lava cake was disappointing and our kids enjoyed their cookie ice cream sandwich. They had those drawing tablets for the kids to draw on while at dinner and I think that is genius! There was a 22% fee for a large party (again, 8 of us) on top of their 4% "convenience fee" It's an open air restaurant and there was no breeze. It was hot and sticky the whole time, which was uncomfortable.
