Another stellar customer service experience AAA! As I was about to enter the front door, the mechanic held the door for me and said good morning !! June was warm and friendly to greet me, she was eager to get the car inspection started. AAA backs up to Little Sugar Creek greenway so I was able to take a beautiful, relaxing walk while my car was being inspected. June called when the inspection was finished and stated what was needed. I chose one option and was happy there was no hard pushy sale for the other Maintance options. I truly feel like this is the friendly neighborhood, corner shop that can do it all when it comes to my car. read more

Had my truck towed there because it would not start. They quoted $2100 to install a new fuse box and ignition switched (replaced ignition switch last year). They definitely inflated the cost of repair based on the fact that my truck was towed there, and figured I would have no other choice. I declined the estimate and had the truck towed back to my house. Long story short, I read a few forums online and fixed the truck for $150. I would highly advise against using this shop as they are obviously taking advantage of customers. read more

I went in for a simple oil change and they told me two of my axles needed to be replaced and realigned. The cost of this job was over $1000. Hesitant, I took my car to another shop to get a second opinion. The other shop told me my axles were fine and didn't need to be worked on at all. Nice try AAA you won't be scamming me today. Shame on AAA for trying to take advantage. Shame on the service writer Paul Roberts for attempting to rip me off. Don't let these criminals trick you into paying for unnecessary work. I would not recommend getting your car repaired here. Had my car towed here early this week: problems with low coolant levels and engine overheating. They told me the diagnostic fee would be $139: this is a ridiculous price for a diagnostic fee. Most mechanics charge about half this but at least they told me up front. Then they told me my thermostat was busted and would need a new one, and that the repair would cost $1,600! I called another mechanic in town who confirmed this is an OUTRAGEOUS price to charge for a thermostat replacement, since this would normally cost between $200-300. After talking on the phone with them, they told me they understood it was a high price but that it is what it is. I would rather support a local mechanic next time. read more

Attractive place. Oil change, tire rotation and state inspection took 1-1/2 hrs with appt; I guess that's acceptable these days. Price reasonable with coupon. BUT they told me I needed air filter replacement for $62. I asked if they'd actually looked at it (I knew the filter on this car was hard to access). Talked with mechanic and said he'd diagnosed it "based on age and mileage." Baloney since they couldn't know if it had previously been replaced. Of course I turned it down. Later learned that mfr maintenance sled says replace at 55k miles (regardless of age). This car was at 23k. Simple old-fashioned scam. I won't be back. read more

We usually go to a different AAA, but we had an event after work so we came here before the event to get our state inspection done. This is pretty similar to other AAAs that I've been to. They have a waiting area with WiFi which is nice. Even with an appointment, it takes them a bit to start working on your car, but our inspection was still done in about half an hour. The people are friendly. The prices are good. I definitely recommend AAA for all car services they provide. read more

I made an appointment because I knew I needed a battery. Specified clearly that I was bringing my car in for a new battery. On the phone I was quoted $188 for battery, installation - out the door. Arrive for the appt, again stating that I just need them to install a battery. 45-60 minutes later the tech comes in to tell me that they had done diagnostic testing and - guess what - I need a battery (along with a litany of other "recommendations"). Another 30 minutes and I get a notice on phone that I can review the service report and then eventually someone comes to tell me that they have finished. The price was higher than quoted because of "supplies". When I asked I was told "supplies" are added to every bill as a percentage of the repair charge (mine was 9%). Never again for a simple minor service like a battery. One of the auto parts dealers would have sold it, walked it out to the car and installed it in about the same amount of time that lapsed between when AAA finished and came to tell me I could check out. read more

My wife took her vehicle in this morning to have a tire patched. There was a roofing nail directly in the middle of the tread. Either a plug or a patch would have resolved the issue. They waited until 4 pm to contact us, and never patched the tire. They claimed there was insufficient tread depth on the tire. The tire is neither old, worn, nor damaged; it simply has a roofing nail in the tread. The puncture is nowhere near the shoulder or sidewall of the tire, either. When confronted over the ability to patch a tire from the INSIDE, they stuck to their story about insufficient tread depth, and threw in the extra "we care for your safety schtick. I'll care for my own safety, thank you very much. You just patch the tire as the customer originally requested, hmmm? Never, ever, again. I picked this location for my annual state inspection and found them to be very capable and very friendly and very quick. Sadly, I wouldn't pass inspection without new wiper blades. And then, I needed brakes. And I kinda suspected it because they've been making some noise lately. Not AAA's fault, the work needed doing. Comfortable waiting area with coffee, a snack vending machine, an annoying television with the latest talk shows, and plenty of wireless internet. read more

Unfortunately, I would not recommend trusting your car care to this store. I brought in my vehicle for an oil change and state inspection. This store did the classic attempt of upselling unnecessary services while they ignored that my transmission was literally near blowing out, but the real kicker was that once I drove my car down the street it broke down because they forgot to resecure a hose after they checked my air filter. Absolutely unacceptable. If you want the long version of the story, here it is...Halfway through the day they called with recommend work of a brake fluid change, power steering fluid change and fuel system flush. The total for services was over $500. I have a trusted garage that I take my car to for normal work, but he was unable to service me that day, so I took the recommendations and called to get a counter quote. My other garage said that the quote was about $350 over what he would charge and he was doubtful that I needed those services. I called back and refused the additional services and scheduled an appointment with my trusted garage. Upon picking my car up, I drove down Woodlawn and while sitting at the stop light of Woodlawn and Selwyn my car broke down. Would not restart, completely broken down and stuck. I called the store back and told them they needed to come get me back to the shop. Once they arrived, they popped the hood and did something and said I was good to go. We decided to take it back to the shop just to make sure and the car broke down again before we made it back. They reattached the hose they forgot to attach and I received a refund for the oil change service. I took my car to my trusted garage a few days later and he called me absolutely shocked that they had ignored a massive leak in my transmission and ignore the fact that it was almost completely out of transmission fluid. I guess that upselling me on those smaller $500 services was much more important than pointing out my transmission was about to go. A blown transmission is about $3000 and had I not taken my car back to someone else I would have quickly been looking at a very expensive fix on my car. In all, the service I received sadly proved that you can not trust the recommended services that are pushed on you from this store...and you may want to ask them to double check their work so you don't end up stranded in the middle of the street, during rush hour. read more

I went for my car inspection - I called that morning and they had an appointment at a convenient time for me that day. I took my car in and they greeted me and were very friendly. They took my car back and showed me to their waiting area. The waiting area is a plain, no frills room with chairs and I think they have coffee too and a restroom. It has a large window looking into the bay so you can watch them work on your car if you like. I choose to talk to the travel agents. I asked a young woman to help me with a hotel in DC. We looked but I needed a better idea of the neighborhoods and the train stops to choose a good location. She gave me their hotel book to take with me and told me I could call her for help when I was ready - very friendly. I asked the world travel agent about passports. She gave me the basics I was looking for and about visa's needed to my intended travel destination. Just as I went to sit in the waiting room, my car was done! It passed, no work needed. AAA Car Care center on Montford is super friendly and fast service. I highly recommend them for travel and care care. read more

My car needed an oil change and I needed some travel advice, so AAA was a great stop - I could get both items done at once! I used a coupon for my oil change and only paid ~$25 after taxes & fees and they did a great job. They recommended some useful fixes for my car and even rotated my tires. Travel-wise, I knew I was cutting it close to plan a vacation two weeks out, but Henry was able to give me some options within my budget and sent me home with some travel magazines to further peruse. I have done my service 3 times at this location. 1st : I left the car for Oil change and requested them to put semi synthetic oil and they did it right, the sticker on the windshield which recommended me to come back after 5000 miles. My car oil percentage indicator usually goes to zero at 5800 miles. All good! 2nd service: I left the car for oil change and asked for semi synthetic, windshield sticker said come back after 5000 miles, but my car low oil indicator kept coming back after around 3500 miles, I didn't bother went back for oil change when my car percentage went to zero. 3rd service: I left the for oil change and forgot to mention about the low oil indicator since it usually happens around oil change times. The sticker said comeback after 3000 miles whereas i was expecting it to be 5000 miles. Called the service rep right after I picked up the car and he said, he cant do anything now and bring it back after 3000 miles and also said he just looked up the previous service record and had the conventional oil put in for the oil change. Now at 3500 mile, my car oil percentage indicator says 40% left. My questions are - for an Acura or any other high performance cars and any car that comes with the oil percentage indicator, why would you put in conventional oil which does not match up with the oil percentage indicator? Why didn't the service rep for the 2nd service look up the previous record? Why wasn't I asked about what type of oil to put in? Why should I still recommend AAA to my friends for car service? read more

I had my car towed here after it overheated. Service was fine and advisors were friendly, however pricing was really high. After receiving my quote, I called the Firestone across the street and the dealer, both of which were significantly less. When I called AAA back and told them those quotes, they brought the price down. So I ended up paying a fair price, but not until I negotiated it down. He tells me to pull up outside the first bay, a man immediately comes out to check my tires. I had over inflated them... he fixes the problem. Teaches me a little and that was it. On my way back to work (on Park Road) from lunch, my vehicle began shaking when applying the brake while turning and my ABS and ESC lights turned on. Not knowing how severe the problem could be I immediately headed to this location, being the closest service shop I could remember seeing in the area. (I've been lucky to never need more than an oil change in my 3 years in Charlotte.) The issue (sensor-related) was fixed quickly by lunch time the next day. The noteworthy part of the service though was really the customer service. Steve was extremely helpful in explaining the AAA process, particularly to a non-member. (He, of course, offered membership and explained it very clearly but without being too heavy handed with the sales pitch.) He called to apologize the first evening because they hadn't been able to get to my vehicle that same day (not surprising as he had clearly informed me - and I could tell - they were extremely busy), he called me the next morning to give me my estimate based on their diagnosis and before beginning the work, and called me as soon as my car was ready a few hours later. Called and made a state inspection appointment for 8:45 this morning. When I got there and finally talked to the associate he told me that "he didn't know who told me I could come at 8:45 and said there would be a minimum 2 hour wait." When I explained that I called he asked the name of the person I talked to and I said I was never given a name. He acted like I was an idiot and sent me away. I was charged a 49.99 fee to diagnose an issue with my car that only involved removing a door panel. After being told the mechanism was completely destroyed they quoted me $800 dollars for a fix. When I got time I inspected the issue myself, and the piece that was "completely destroyed" was fully intact. I ordered bolts online and spent $5.00 to fix it. It was obvious that either they didn't inspect the issue or were just going for a cash grab. I wouldn't recommend this place for anything but oil changes. read more

I have been going to this AAA location for over a year now and really appreciated the professional and courteous staff. Each time I was there for an oil change I'd be presented with a long list of recommendations of repairs to my car. One of which was about my car battery. It has been 4 oil changes since they have told me that my battery is about to die and I have not replaced my battery nor have I had a single issue starting my car. I'm glad I did not take their opinion seriously the first time they recommended this! I had an oil change 4 days ago, synthetic oil which should last twice as long as a regular oil change so ~6000 miles instead of the usual ~3000. As I was driving to work this morning I noticed the sticker they put in my car for my next oil change was only 3000 miles out. I called them to confirm that they put synthetic oil in my car and the guy I spoke with said they did but that their sticker print out machine was broken and only printing 3000 mile recommendations but if I'd like a new sticker he could print me an updated one today. I think this is complete BS. I'd be surprised if that wasn't a number they manually input and then print onto a sticker for your windshield. Pretty sure they are trying to trick me into getting my oil changed twice as often aka spending DOUBLE! Plus, if the machine is broken, how is he planning on printing me an "accurate" number? Even if this was the truth, why didn't anyone tell me this while I was paying or even just manually write the correct mileage on my sticker? I am always hesitant of being taken advantage of at car repair shops but feel bad because I know not all mechanics are trying to rip off their customers. I thought I found a place a could trust especially with the AAA name to back them up but I will definitely be getting my car repaired elsewhere from now on. read more

Our family drives old cars; we are accustom to the maintenance and unexpected breakdowns. We have years of positive experiences with AAA. Our experience, today, was terrible. The AAA customer service guy (after being asked to help by his co-worker after a line had formed and he was repeatedly texting on his phone) told us that there was not a labor charge for our requested battery service. When questioned about the labor charge on the bill, he ANGRILY responded that we were mistaken -- we had been totally informed. We can afford to pay for his lack of disclosure, but his lack of trustworthiness and subsequent exploding anger is enough to keep us from returning to this AAA location. read more

I've been taking my car here for years for oil changes and regular maintenance. The guys are friendly, but at the end of the day, if you don't know what you're doing with my car I don't care how friendly you are. I took it in a few days ago with a couple of problems, one of them being that my car starts shaking badly around 40mph. I was told after they looked over the car that they found nothing wrong- "maybe you need new tires" he said. The problem got worse this week so I took it to another mechanic who knew immediately it had nothing to do with tires. Ended up being a malfunctioning brake caliper and in need of a new brake pad. AAA had my car for 5 hours the other day and fixed a belt but said absolutely nothing about the rear brakes that were causing this obvious problem. Won't be going back. read more

We live right around the corner from here so have taken our car here multiple times for routine to emergency maintenance. They always act nice but multiple times I have caught them trying to overcharge me and rip me off. Recently they fixed our car for a ton of money only for it to break down again weeks later. Then they wanted to charge us more. This place is masked with a clean waiting area and somewhat nice customer service (sometimes) in order to pretend like they aren't the typical repair shop that overcharges and under delivers. read more
