I've been coming here for years. I would have the basic oil change and tire rotation service done. However, this time I needed a VA inspection. BIG MISTAKE. So they call me the afternoon I dropped it off telling I had a leak in my power steering fluid hose and that needed to be replaced, and since they had to that, they needed to get in the gaskets which was going to take up more labor and parts. The quoted me at $700 total. They didn't explain anything more than that and I felt rushed to agree to this since I only had 2 days before the end of the month. They didn't offer pictures or anything either to corroborate their story of the leaking hose. I'm disappointed in them, and will not be bringing my vehicle here anymore. The people are nice though. Also, they always forget to top off fluids and to put the reminder sticker for oil change on my window. read more

I took a 2003 Honda Accord to be checked over before my 17 yo son drove it back to SC. This was my mom's car and it had 54,000 miles on it. I asked them to inspect the car and do an oil change. This car has not been driven more than 200 miles over the past 3-4 years. I was surprised to find out there were no issues with the car. The next day I noticed the back rear tire seemed low so we checked the pressure and it was at 15 psi. Actually, all the tires were lower than recommended. This gave me pause and doubt that the car was truly inspected. Thankfully we made it back to SC and took it to another AAA car care center. 8 days after later, the new inspection (with pictures and explanations) shows that all four tires are dry-rotted with a nail in the passenger rear tire, dirty air filters with a cracked intake tube, and a total of 9 issues on inspection that needed urgent attention including a cracking belt. The value of having a AAA card has degraded over the years. At first, the care centers offered free state inspections for being a AAA member. Then, a little while ago they changed it to half price. When they offered free state inspections I thought it was worth the price of being a member. I soon found out that there are many other ways to receive roadside assistance these days (credit cards, auto insurance etc.) and discounts for travel. There are numerous websites that provide travel discounts nowadays also. AAA isn't as necessary as it used to be so for that reason I decided to cancel my membership. Along with cancelling my membership went the discounted state inspections which wasn't a huge loss. My experiences with this care center have been fine with the exception of one time. They had not passed my car once because of foggy headlights. Now this wasn't the problem. The problem was that they wanted to charge me something around $170! So I kindly declined and purchased a kit for $14 on Amazon which did the job. I know that labor would have been additional but $170?? I just thought that the price of the work seemed exorbitant. read more

BEWARE!!!!!!!!! AAA REPAIR COST : $1,897.95 Actual repairs needed : $17.00 Hose and bulb replacement (25 minutes and 2 screwdrivers +/-). I could have actually cut the cracked part of the hose off and reconnected, but replaced because it's a few dollars and 10 minutes. I will NEVER use their services again. After failing an "inspection" and reviewing the costs I thought I would share.... They attempted to charge me for things that are in working order and more than added a "0" to the cost of one items actual cost and even more on others. They did my last inspection with "extra" charges I never questioned . FYI, I put maybe 50 miles, yes 50 miles on the truck all year. I get a charge for a task as I am a contractor, but this robbery! Be careful, this place will rip you off! I took my 2003 Honda Accord in because I was losing antifreeze. They did a coolant test that cost me $48, and found a crack in my radiator. This location wanted to charge me $648.00 to replace it and I said no thank you. Later on I looked online and found a new radiator at autozone for under a $100. Then I ended up buying one on amazon for for $61. I'm sure putting on a radiator does not cost over $500. Maybe they thought because I was from out of town that I would be willing to pay that outrageous price. But I'm no one's fool. This place deserves 0 stars!!!!! read more

Place has really gone downhill over the years I will not be going back until I see an under new management sign. Rude staff that do less than trustworthy work and when asked make questionable reasoning for anyone that is mechanically inclined. Save your money and time and go anywhere else. read more

Often feels like these car repair places have a license to steal. Make sure to ask for all parts that were replaced. Failed our vehicles inspection over minor things, quoted us over $1,000 to fix it. Had someone else look at it and they were shocked to hear that we were failed. read more

I see some bad reviews here, but I've been bringing my cars here for years. Mainly for state inspections, but a few other times for repairs. I've never had a bad experience, nor have they tried to up-sell. This last time I dropped off my car for inspection they told me it wouldn't be until the next day. Very disappointed with AAA. Took my daughter's car in for an oil change. After a few miles following the oil change she tells me the oil light is on. I checked the oil level, hardly any on the dip stick. I had to get 2 quarts on a Saturday evening. They only put four when it requires 5.7 quarts. I went back to AAA. This place is a complete scam. The free inspection program is just a way to get you in to charge you thousands in car repairs. I got a quote for inspection repairs for $1200 took it to another location got my brakes fixed and a light lens changed for $200.00. If zero was a rating that would be more applicable and from the historical reviews I've read, generally everyone has the same horrible experience at this repair shop. It is a RIP OFF, and there is no accountability. after deciding to give this center a chance to fix the power steering in my vehicle, the disaster started. 1st part sent to wrong store, then more delays day after day, all while I am calling for status - no call from the store. when the vehicle was finally ready, late Saturday afternoon, none of the steering wheel controls worked after they repaired the power steering, isn't that checked before completing the work related to steering? so then a couple more days in the shop and $410 more, finally the vehicle is questionable fixed. missed work without transportation for 6 days as an independent contractor. my regular shop said the total charge would have been $900 less than the "discounted" AAA repairs. NEVER AGAIN as a long time AAA member I will never use any services other than roadside assistance. so disappointed, and the highlight is no one will contact me and take accountability. read more

I'm so over AAA car care centers. I purchased a VIP card which provides me free state inspections, free oil changes, free tire rotations, and other discounts on other services. EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to bring my car in on a Saturday for a state inspection or oil change they tell me they don't have time and it won't be done until Monday. I got there less than 30 minutes after they opened and they can't do a simple oil change and state inspection all day long? I think they sell these VIP cards and then turn you away as a way for then to make money. I had the exact same issue at the Norfolk location. I will never bring any business here again and I will make sure to tell everyone I know to avoid them at all costs. read more

If you need some quick work or an inspection this place will work just fine. The staff is friendly, honest and very quick to communicate should you need additional work. Although my wife's car and mine are serviced at the dealer we've taken son's car to AAA Car Care quite a bit and they've been great. They've also been great on getting motorcycle inspections too. That said I have to agree with my fellow Yelper that it can take awhile to get your car back but since we have additional cars in the family it hasn't affected us. However I can certainly understand the aggravation of the wait. Still rating it on the service my family received I have to give it 4 Stars. read more

I will be taking my car there for an inspection-hoping they are honest, nothing is wrong with my car-new tires and headlight polished were just done and my brother, a mechanic, checked it out. The people are usually friendly, but it takes forever to get your car back. Don't expect to wait around while you get your oil changed. If you drop it off the night before, it's still the following afternoon before it's ready to be picked up. If you're lucky. When I dropped my car off a few weeks ago to be inspected, they didn't get to it at all the next day. I wasted an entire beautiful summer day stuck inside my house with 3 kids. When I picked it up, the guy said, we should be able to get to it tomorrow, if you want to drop it off again. Was he planning to take me to work and pick me up? I don't think so. Another time, I had them do a brake inspection while doing an oil change. When I left, the car was loud and it drove like a tire was "wobbly", like all the lug nuts weren't tight. I hadn't even driven 1/10th of a mile, so I turned around, went back and explained the problem. They drove it in to check. The tech brought me my keys back and said it was fine. Lo and behold, there was no wobbly tire. It must have been magic... or my imagination. The only reason I go here is because of this coupon book I have. When it expires, I won't go back. read more

Parking is limited and they take forever for simple things like oil changes. Very dissatisfied that AAA would operate this way. Check around on pricing before letting them do work. I've given up on the AAA car care centers. I, like Stacey S who posted earlier, purchased the pre-paid VIP card. But every time I go for something simple like an oil change, they are booked up until at least the next business day. Someone who makes decisions like a district manager should have figured if they sold X amount of these cards, and clearly people are trying to redeem their coupons, one service bay at each location should be dedicated to these faster services. It takes what like 20-30 minutes max to do an oil change? I'm back to just paying for oil changes at other places or doing it myself. read more

We just had a horrible experience with this company. After reading recommendations from other sites I chose to take my car there for a presenting electrical issue. My car was towed and stayed at their facility for nearly four days while nothing was done to it. After diagnostics and promises of phone calls that I never received I repeatedly had to call them myself and ask the status. Since they never concluded what caused the electrical issue definitively I bought their explanation of just being a run down battery which is not the case as the same issues I brought it in with occured on the way home from picking up my car after having to demand my keys back. Back up a little...after I bought their explanation about the battery I decided to do a tune up and ordered that to be done. That was wednesday afternoon and the car had already been there 24 hours. Again I was promised a phone call that I never got and had to call him myself again. I called on Friday afternoon and got someone who told me my car was ready and the amount I owed. I replied that I would come by and get my car that afternoon and pay them. I went to pick up my car and was greeted by a very rude salesperson who never said hello and had an attitude who couldn't locate my paper work and didn't have a clue what was going although he had been the one that I had called all week!!! When he walked back in after his search for answers and told me my car had had nothing done to it yet that was it. I demanded my keys back. He never apologized for anything and quite frankly he was the rudest salesperson I have ever encountered . Do not take your car to this place! They don't know what they are doing and with nonexistent customer service on top of that! Nearly four days wasted and the inconvenience of being without a much needed vehicle!! read more

I drive a Volvo SUV. The check engine light came on so we took it to this auto repair center. The diagnostic test reported it needed a new X part. Part was installed. Left center and within 30 sec. check engine light popped back on. Took car back. 2nd new part was ordered and installed. Left center and within 30 sec check engine light popped on. Took car back, it was rechecked and they could not figure out the problem. Taking vehicle to the Volvo dealership as we should have done originally. The AAA manager, Mike, gave us excellent customer service and did EVERYTHING in his power to fix the car and have it done in a timely manner. It was ready when he said it would be, he was very honest about it needing to go to the dealership, professional and cordial and paid for the new diagnostic at Volvo. Some of the BEST customer service I have ever received in the automobile industry!! It is a small center with just a few mechanics, so if they get busy you can't expect to get your vehicle back in an hour. If you have a reasonable amount of time to donate to your auto repair you will receive honest, quality work. A+ read more

I think this AAA car center only recently opened up and renovated. They are a great bunch of likeable guys and you can tell they work as a team and not against each other.
