Needed to get my car inspected. I got there early and they inspected it while I waited. I got a passing inspection and paid $20. A bargain in my view, where some other places give you a "free" inspection but then discover some expensive repair (like new wiper blades that cost $50). My wait was under an hour. I would not tell anyone to come here at all. I have a bmw and I call them fiirst before bring imy car there. I told them it was my starter need a new one .so I have my car towed there . Them a few hours later they told me they didn't work of that bmw . And still charger me 70 Dollars for testes and said it was my starter after I rolls them the same thing. I'm never going here here again. And told me over the phone I need to hurry and get my car out of there that they need the space. So I had it towed to a different places that did work on bmw. The fact I keep allowing my state inspection to surprise me every year...but no need to fear! Called on a Saturday and was told they were way too backed up for a drop off state inspection. Couldn't make an appointment for Monday morning, but walk ins are always welcomed. So I course woke up bright and early to get the job done. Waited in the parking lot for about 30 minutes to see some people where actually waiting outside the door. Even though it was my first visit, the employees were very nice and to the point. Overall it took about 45 minutes being third in line. They have a decent sized waiting room with tv and WiFi, though it is in good walking instance of Starbucks. Everything went smoothly. Support locally owned businesses! Referred here by a trusted friend and as typical, he was right on the money. I was in need of the nuisance state inspection and being the end of the month, I was guessing it would be a hassle and likely be a huge line ahead of me requiring me to drop the car off and get the next day. Boy I was wrong. Sure when I pulled into the lot, the cars were lined up the length of the building. However the gent at the desk assured me I could wait for the inspection to be complete (oh boy I am thinking I may have to order in lunch). The work order went in at 7:45AM and to my shock, I was back on the road just before 9 AM. No muss, no fuss. Took my 2018 Colorado in for the annual State Inspection. My truck was in perfect condition before taking it here. As I picked my truck up, the whole back windshield was shattered. I talked to the owner and he was very unresponsive saying that it was my fault and they were not liable for the damages. I have never had anything done here besides state inspections, but I haven't stopped coming back since I first went. Sometimes the wait is a bit longer, even when it doesn't seem that busy, but I guess that's to be expected when it's walk-in only. If there's nobody in front of you, I've been in and out in 20 minutes. The parking situation isn't great, but there's generally enough room to stick your vehicle somewhere while you go in. As described in the name of the place, it's on Holland road which can make getting in and out of the lot a little annoying. The staff at the desk has always been very polite and respectful to me, so it's all good on that front! read more

Called 3 days before to get car inspected. They said get here around opening which I did and we'll do it for you. Got there and they told me I would have to wait two hours. Drove 1/2 hour to get there. I understand things happen There were 3 guys behind the counter. One was a rude loud mouth saying. "Who told you that?" "Well I guess someone got here before you". Very rude. I also was going to get a quote to bring in 3 vehicles for a transmission, transfer case, and differential change. Would have been a 3 grand charge. Because they are so rude I couldn't imagine is they were challenged over any issue. I'll go elsewhere. read more

Update I went back for inspection after the list of repairs they gave me .... Fixed them myself then I just needed the e brake adjustment for my inspection to pass The kid in the back working on my car stripped the bolts to the brake caliper and the bolt holes and then proceeded to tell me that it was someone else's fault or they were to tight or something instead of taking credit for what he ruined and fixing it .... But no he told me that's what happens and basically oh well he doesn't care not his car right ..! So I left with a loose brake caliper more work I need to do and no inspection just further damage to my car don't take your car here !!! They don't care about you .. or your car ... please go somewhere else for the love of god read more

A friend took their truck for an inspection and when they came to pick it back up their back window was smashed in and this place not only didn't apologize or have any sort of remorseful reaction, but they tried to shift the blame and say they are not liable for that nor will they provide the video footage or pay for damages. Terrible service they'll double charge you when you bring your own new battery and swap in an old battery you told them was for recycling that was in a trash bag and not even the correct size for for the battery compartment. Under the pretense that the laborers has to be paid and no guarantee warranty for bringing in your own replacements. Wouldn't even take responsibility for their own negligence nor even call to confirm which battery to use despite old batteries for recycling were in obvious white trashbags. read more

I was hoping that my car would be done within 3 days because of the long laundry list of repairs that I needed. I ended up having to get my windshield wiper pump fixed, four new tires, new control arms, brakes checked, and an oil change... They finished it in the same day and my car drives like it's brand new! Don't go here!!! -0- STARS My friends car was dropped off Friday, they had it all weekend. Monday morning when he went to pick it up they told him the Catalytic converters (3 of them) were stolen. HRAC told him its not their problem, there's nothing they can do. YES THERE IS!!! Put up cameras, a fence! Keep your customers property safe while in your possession.... Put vehicles INSIDE!!! Don't keep more onsite than you can protect! The thought of dropping off my vehicle and finding out it was vandalized while it was there, then being told, oh well.... has never crossed my mind... The sign outside says AC service. I needed a new air conditioner, and went there to get it replaced. They tore up my dash and my headlights and windshield wiper blade don't work anymore. My cruise control doesn't work. Spare yourself the pain and find a real ac mechanic. read more

This place on the inside isn't the prettiest or the most nice smelling, but hey they get the job done. They did my inspection pretty fast considering it was busy when I went. However, I wouldn't consider this the safest place. I haven't experienced this personally but, I have read some reviews where people have left their car here overnight and its gotten broken into. read more

I was terribly afraid to get my State Inspection done here because I kept seeing terrible reviews of this place that kept mentioning them being total scumbags about the inspection. However, I only had a limited window of free time to get inspected and they didn't have a long line. I get there and while the intake wasn't the most graceful, the person was very nice. I was in and out in 40 minutes. No foul play. No false failures. I'm pretty sure I could hear them loudly cursing, but I mean I don't really care about that. Just saying it just in case you might. Was kind of a dirty building to be waiting in. read more

Had been going to Holland Road Auto since I was a teenager. Over the years I have noticed a decline in workmanship for sure. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was my last visit. I had a timing belt and water pump installed and within a year, the pump started leaking. I took it in and asked if they could work with me on the price. Timing belts and water pumps last for many years. No dice, it would be a full price repair. I took it to another shop who discovered the timing belt was frayed and installed improperly at Holland Road. Timing belt failure can ruin an engine. Stay away from these people. read more

My car was shutting off whenever it got hot. Was told after one week they don't know why it's shutting off. I also needed minor inspection stuff done.. so the mechanic tells me he installed the crank shaft sensor, but the car still shuts off ! They end up charging me $589 for whattttt? My car still shuts off. They end up taking the crank shaft off. Still charged me $422, so I end up paying $422 for an inspection. Which passed, but I can't drive my car!!! Do not use Holland Auto Shop. I brought my car in and told them the bearings needed to be replaced. They took 2 weeks to take the wheels off and proceeded to find multiple things 'wrong' with the car, which were services I did NOT want done. Mark insisted multiple times that they needed to be done and either lied or is totally incompetent about cars (example he said the bearing/hub/rotor was a one piece system when it is a two piece). He said the rotor and caliper needed to be replaced for an additional ~$500 when they did not need to be replaced. Ultimately because they were changing their story and did not fix what we asked them to, we declined the work. He proceeded to charge us $300 for essentially taking the wheel and rotor off, which should take about 10 minutes not 2.5 hours of labor. We are reporting them to the Virginia Automobile Services. read more

They wanted $1,800 in labor alone because "The job would take 18 hours" I know for a fact it would take 3 hours AT MOST. Total scam of place. 10/10 wouldn't recommend. read more

By not checking to make sure they properly installed a purge valve, Holland Road Auto Center turned my vehicle into a "rocket." My SUV started accelerating on its own, shaking when I pressed the brake, and revving like crazy when I tried to put it in park. When I called about the issue, the manager told me that the issue could not have been with them because "What we fixed has to do with emissions, not how the engine runs." Does this manager realize that the exhaust and engine performance are actually connected? I will NEVER take my vehicle here again. It's not worth the risk of my vehicle becoming unsafe to drive. After having my vehicle towed elsewhere, they discovered the problem and replaced Holland Road Auto's work with a factory valve vs an after-market valve that actually fits my vehicle. I was a bit scared to go to this auto shop after reading the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised! I came in the afternoon to get my car inspected, they said it was an hour and a half wait, then it would take 45 min for the actual inspection but it was a lot faster than that! I was in and out in about an hour and 10min. They were super nice at the front desk and just said that I need a new windshield wiper to pass and it was only 10$ to add on to the already super cheap inspection cost. Do not be discouraged by the other reviews. This place is great! read more

I wished I knew about Holland Road Auto Center two years ago. I had a punctured tire at that time. I was knew to the area and went to my car dealership in Virginia Beach. I waited for hours, was deceived and ended up paying over $800 for new tires and a warranty that does not include the service fee. But thanks to Holland Road Auto Center, I got my tire fixed, rotated, and paid only $52 in about an hour waiting time. I tell you, this is the place to go for car repair and maintenance. Brought my car in to be inspected and was completed same day with no appointment or anything. Very nice in the office and always answer the phone which is a big thing for me. Great communication when issues popped up I needed to fix. It was expensive for the repairs I needed but they did a great job and my breaks feel good as new. They didn't make me feel pressured to spend additional monies for any unneeded things. Very old school type place and 10/10 plan on returning for any future inspections or repairs. read more

They diagnosed the problem within the next thirty minutes and had a fair plan of action and kept me in the loop throughout the repair.
