I've been a member of AAA for 11 years now. It says so on my card. Years ago, before GPS, I could always count on AAA to get us much needed trip tiks. Now that I no longer need those, AAA has been my go to for two things: 1. Roadside assistance/towing. When you drive a used car, this is a great, affordable service. 2. Currency Exchange. While I will admit that the don't have the greatest exchange rates, they can be counted on to quickly get me my Polish zloty when I am heading over to Poland. There are plenty of other services, and I always like to check out their travel trinkets (as I like to call them). Members have access to discounts for a variety of things. My husband and I started to book our trip to Punta Cana for February 2020 in September 2019 and were not officially booked until January 31, 2020....that was after we worked with two different AAA agents, Donna and then Christopher. Emails and phone calls were not responded to by either agent for days or weeks on end. They were always too busy for us-in other meetings or had "no access to email." The lack of customer service was extremely disappointing and added a lot of frustration to my life. I am thankful that we ended up having a fantastic trip, but the hoops to jump through to get there were unbelievable! read more

My car broke down recently in a parking lot. I called AAA Roadside Assistance at 6PM and they said they would get someone out to me in 15-30 minutes. No one arrived. I waited for the text message link to track my driver on my phone. Nothing. I called AAA back. They said the person was running late. Okay, I waited patiently again. Nothing. I call again. I am told the person is running behind again. Okay, I frustratingly wait longer. Hours go by. Nothing. I get some text message updates from AAA. There is another delay. The last text I got was that the AAA person would arrive between 10:30-11:30PM. That really makes my day. I sat in a parking lot in my car watching the sun go down, waiting for the AAA Service member to arrive. Many phone calls were exchanged. Finally, the person arrived at 11:15PM and called me. He had no idea what car he was looking for or were he was supposed to be towing it to. This was after all the details of the situation was relayed numerous times to AAA over several hours. Disappointment is not an accurate enough vocabulary word to describe the amount of time that I had wasted and taken from me. The likelihood that my family will cancel our AAA membership if something is not done to compensate for our anguish and time wasted is extremely high. We are not going to recommend this service to any of our friends and family ever. read more
