I think asking for a status update is definitely a reasonable thing to do. But the response I got was grumpy and uncalled for. Instead of politely telling me they haven't received the part they needed to fix my car, they acted like I was inconvenicing them just for calling. Dude. You have MY car. If youre not sure when the part comes, that's fine. But you don't have to act like I'm a dumbass for asking. I quite frankly don't care how miserable your job is, so is mine. And everyone else's. The least I can ask for is some common decency. Especially when you've had my car for 2 days and haven't updated me.

I moved here with a brand new Buick, and got screwed by every Buick dealership in this area. We had some warranty issues, and got the run around. So we refuse to use another Buick dealership. Our next car won't be a Buick either. But that's not the point of this review. Point being we have had some bad car experiences. We have kids with cars too. So we desperately needed someone we could trust. Our own Yelp searches found us some okay mechanics. But their labor fees were way too high! Finally as we got to know our neighborhood, we were referred to Phil's Auto clinic. Now, we bring all our cars here. Phil, his family, and his team are amazing. They have reasonable prices, they work hard, fast, and accurately. I trust what they tell me. If he doesn't know, he says he doesn't know. He won't fix things that don't need to be fixed, just to rule them out, which is extremely refreshing. One thing I can't stand to hear a mechanic say is, "I couldn't duplicate the problem" it sounds lazy, put the damn car in the lift and find the problem. That's what Phil does. Very convenient to have such a trustworthy mechanic, so close to home. I can walk there to pick up my cars. He cares about his customers, and the work that leaves his shop. I can say enough about this place. I know he is slammed and doesn't need the business. When he was recommended to us, we were nervous he wasn't taking any new clients. It is my understanding that most people in our neighborhood and beyond use his garage. We are grateful to be part of this neighborhood, and one of this garages clients.

Made a few other calls and everyone said the same thing. We were gearing up to toss out $3000 at the car or even trade it in. One day I decided to call Tony. He was so helpful on the phone. Told us to try "cataclean". An exhaust and fuel line cleaner. It was only $30 for two bottle (only needed one) so we decided it was worth a try. Poured it in reset the light and it was good to go! Very honest guy! Could have easily not told us about that product and roped us in for $3k. Clean shop in a decent neighborhood. Very happy and will be back eventually.

Unlike other garages, there were no fear tactics used to try to tell me I need new tires, or brakes, or whatever. Every interaction that I've had with them so far - phone and in person - has been professional and respectful. While waiting for my car, I listened to the interactions with other customers. I have honestly never heard auto service people speak as kindly and thoughtfully to customers. Also like other independent garages, there is an actual waiting area, with multiple tables, chairs, a window that allows you to look into the garage, a maintained bathroom, and a selection of Keurig coffees. Disregard the couple of bad reviews that have been submitted. Customers can be jerks and there are some people that are never satisfied. It seems that Schoen Auto's genuine philosophy is to do what is necessary to make things right with those rare unsatisfied customers. I hope this garage is around for a long, long time and remains under the same ownership.

I've brought my car back to them twice in the past two weeks to fix it and now they are saying my car had a different issue and are refusing to give me a refund for misdiagnosing the issue and causing me trouble. Now I have to take my car somewhere else and pay even more money to get it fixed. They also inspected my car but I will have it inspected again elsewhere because I do not trust the quality of this auto shop. Save your money!!!
