May 22, 2026: I visited the Mountain View branch to make some changes to my car insurance policy, and it turned into my worst experience with AAA. The agent who assisted me struggled with a fairly straightforward request for over an hour and eventually started insisting that it couldn't be done and that it was impossible to figure out how it had been handled before. Their communication was also unprofessional - they never introduced themselves, used phrases like "I got you covered, brother", and tried to steer me away from the actual issue. A branch manager then got involved and said the change was possible but would require approval from another department. I was told they submitted the request and would follow up within 24-48 hours. No one ever followed up. In the end, I resolved everything through AAA's online chat in a matter of minutes, with no approvals needed - exactly as it had been done previously. Based on this experience, I can't recommend this branch. The staff came across as unprofessional and ineffective. read more

The good: they're very willing to accommodate needs and were able to reschedule me for an hour later when I needed to step out to make a call. The bad: the wait is about the same as the DMV. They only had one window open for about 75% of the time I was there. I had to step out and take my call at 3pm because I got there at 2:45pm and it was a 40 minute wait. The appointment I then had for 3pm meant that I didn't actually get called up until 3:30pm. Carve out a chunk of your day for anything you need to get done here. We needed our International Drivers licenses ASAP to go karting in Japan. Online says the turnaround time can be like 10 days-- but due to late planning we needed it within a couple days. We came on a Sat around 3pm to try and get the permit. Shout-out to Annie and Braden! They had us in and out of there within 20 min with our International driving permits in hand! Annie welcomed us and was so friendly. She helped us take a our passport style photos and helped us with the paperwork. She even let me retake my photo because I wasn't ready for the first take. Haha! You'll need: - Driver's License - AAA membership (for a discount) - credit card for the application fee and photo fee (You can bring 2 of your own passport style photos as well if you dont want to pay the photo fee). Braden processed our application after Annie helped us with the photos and filling out the application. He was also super friendly and nice. We might have been lucky and came in at a good time. I've always enjoyed coming here to renew my DMV registration for my vehicles. I'm always greeted with a smile at the welcome kiosk and I feel that it's well organized. Clean Friendly Quick! Been here multiple times in the last few weeks for a new used car I recently purchased. There greeting and waiting areas are clean, have shields and are spaced out for social distancing. The staff is friendly and helpful and am usually helped right away. They work with the DMV so they can print out you registration and give you your sticker right away instead of having to wait for it in the mail. They can also help you with title transfers and other DMV related things so you can avoid having to deal with that. Thankfully they have made it super easy and saved me a lot of time already I'm super glad to be an AAA member. read more

After using my insurance's towing/battery jumping services for 2 years, I realized I needed to get back to AAA - I like my insurance agency but not the auto services. What I didn't realize about AAA -- their DMV services are amazing. Super fast and easy way to title/register your car with informative, friendly & helpful staff. 60 second wait to get help vs. DMV lines. This in itself is worth the AAA membership. Never in my life would I have thought going to deal with DMV things would be breeze, always expect long waits and headaches. I've always done things at the DMV and despite having all paperwork together, it's always been one thing or another (or a card reader going out so I'm scrambling to find cash). I was greatly surprised and so glad I got AAA membership (and seriously considering the insurance now) to be able to utilize the DMV desk. There was the fear of complications and such buying a used car from a private party, but the agent was super informative and gave me the full rundown. I really appreciated how personable he was as I couldn't believe it was just so simple as signing and paying. Honestly I felt bad that I asked if everything was set and done 3 times before believing the agent because it was too easy. Due to social distancing, everything was labeled for where people can line up inside (limited) and I saw that the door handles for the front were constantly wiped down. It is nice and I do really appreciate how pleasant the employees are in these times of uncertainty, despite protocols for safety and such. Final Thoughts: This gives me renewed hope that not all DMV and 'adulting' things are terrible and a horrible inconvenience. So worth to get the AAA membership at the very least. read more

Went in today to get more information on AAA membership, auto insurance, and renter's insurance. The facility itself practiced social distancing and I felt safe interacting with the employees at this branch. I would recommend Jeffrey Alapar for anyone looking for incredible attention to detail and providing honest advice. This was my first time shopping for insurance, and Jeffrey was very patient and answered all my questions and was very helpful in selecting plans. He was very informative, and it was evident that he loved his job and genuinely wanted to help me select the right plan for me. I walked out today knowing that I selected the right plans for my needs and having all my questions answered and fully understood. Jeffrey made sure to let me know that if any questions did arise, I had no reason not to reach out and that he would be more than happy to help me. I came during COVID and everyone is taking protocols seriously and both times it was only a 5-10 minute wait in line. As opposed to the DMV...we all know that circus. Was given misleading information about out of state registration for a vehicle transfer. I called the day before to ensure I have all the required documents and even took off work early to be there before their 4:30pm cut off time. I arrive to AAA, greeted and when I told the clerk "I am registering my car from out of state." The lady reviewed my pink slip and said "we don't do dealer to dealer transactions." - one, I'm not a dealer and two, there was nothing special that needed to be done for the process as I later found out when I had to go to a DMV to register my car. Bottom line is, if you're going to offer services of registering out of state vehicles, make sure it's not a dealer to dealer transaction before assuming and or get double confirmation as this lead me to losing money from taking off work two times for registration. read more

Would you pay $85 to save 4 hours waiting in line? How about 8 hours of waiting in line? Now my ex is a cheapskate, and doesn't want to pay the $85 annual family membership for AAA, and even gets AAA maps from me. Yes, you have your cell phone GPS, but using it is very data intensive -once used 200 megabytes of data on a 40 minute GPS guidance in the car. When you buy a used vehicle from a private party, you need to get a new title to the vehicle. And if you lose the title to a vehicle, you need to file paperwork to obtain a duplicate title, before it can be sold. Both require visiting the DMV. Now visiting the DMV can be a day long affair, even if you can make an appointment. However you must submit the paperwork with a new title to a vehicle within days of the sale, too short a time to make an appointment in advance. Twice in the last couple of months I had to get a new title for a vehicle. First I had to get a duplicate title before selling my 1998 Honda Civic. Went to the DMV in Santa Clara, and not only was the parking lot full, but there were literally hundreds of people in line, stretching out the door. The second time was today, when I got a barely used Honda Fit that had been in a low speed accident with frontal body, hood and windshield damage, all fixed good as new, at a bargain price, from a fellow Yelper, no less. Went to the Santa Teresa DMV near Bernal Road on a Monday afternoon. Even here in the boondocks of southern San Jose, the parking lot was full, and dozens of people in line, again stretching out the door. Got to bring a book to read, and have someone save your place in line, when going to the bathroom, if you are going to have to stand in line for hours, even in the middle of a weekday. You cannot do the title update online, but must visit a DMV in person, so that they can compare your driver license id and picture with the name of the new owner on the title transfer . They want to see your face in your driver license picture, the one taken a decade ago when you had a facial pimple problem! Me, both times I went to AAA Mountain View. Tight parking, as the parking lot across the street has been razed, and the area dug up by the city of MV. And the 30 odd vehicle parking lot is shared with a medical facility in the same building, along with an adjacent auto repair shop and businesses. Drove in one way, and had to back up my new stick shift Honda into reverse. Tough to do, as they don't want you going from 4th gear into reverse, instead of 4th gear into 6th gear, so you need to shift and then push in on the stick when reversing, all with your left foot on the clutch. Meanwhile the line of cars trying to exit, was getting longer, with my car blocking the way. Nobody honked the horn, after they saw that I was Driving while Asian! After an eternity, finally got the car in reverse. Walked in the front door, and there was no line, just two receptionists doing title upgrades. Had the proper forms, showed my AAA membership card, and paid the 9.25% state and county tax on vehicle purchase transactions., using my credit card. On a $10,000 purchase, that's $925 in taxes! Saved myself hours of waiting in line. Something to think about next time you are standing in line in those high heels at the DMV! read more

I already have AAA auto insurance and I was shopping around for home + flood insurance. I received a phone call from Rosa Rodriguez from this office and I am blown away with her service from day 1. Since I just got into contract with my home, I needed flood insurance and fast. Rosa was so helpful and patient with me when going over the different options of home insurance deductibles and features for property damages. Once she explained those very thoroughly, she went over the flood insurance which I think many would agree, can be complicated as hell. The thing that I appreciate the most about Rosa is her sense of urgency when the mortgage company is asking for this and that and all pages of declarations, etc. She was very understanding and made sure that we were all aligned when requesting information and making sure everything was complete. As you may already know, buying a house can be stressful, but Rosa was able to answer all of my questions in such a speedy way and she even worked late in the evening to get all the payments processed for the next day. I am extremely pleased with her service and would definitely recommend going to Rosa for all policies even if you are a new or existing customer. She followed through and was very accommodating with the changes being made daily. Insurance agents don't always get the best reputation, but Rosa is an exception and I am so glad that I got her as my agent! read more

So I want home got some information online from the dmv to help the process with a better understanding and he still refused to help me with my applications for duplicate title saying I needed to go to the dmv. I simply picked up a few maps for my east coast travels. Just elated that they still offer the handy, helpful "paper" maps. As usual, the branch staff was very professional, prompt, and courteous. Seldom ever have to wait long, and the staff seems to always be willing to help. I'm so glad the branch is close by and convenient. Makes being a AAA member so much more valuable. My major gripe about AAA, however, is their awful long wait times to speak to a live person during a roadside "emergency". The automated answering system is so painful and long to go through, especially when you're stranded on a busy roadside. It's dangerously frustrating. read more
