I met Terry because she grooms dogs for dog rescue groups. Since then, I started taking my own dogs to her and now I wouldn't go anyplace else. Since all of my dogs are rescues and come with some "baggage," they can be difficult. One is even a biter. Terry handles them all with care and they love going there. read more

For some reason Yelp deleted my review from last December. Teri and her crew continue to do a great job with my fluffy little ones. You might be able to find a cheaper groomer, but not a more caring one. Here is what I previous wrote: Teri and her crew have done a fabulous job with all of my dogs (seven in all) for the last 15+ years, including introducing young dogs to the process and being patient with cranky old ones. I had a dog for 13 years that was mentally and physically impaired from a serious accident. He was terrified of groomers (took him to 3 other groomers first) except for Teri. I had another dog, a rescued Llasa Apso that hated being handled, especially being groomed and was quite a biter. When I first took him to Teri, I brought all his muzzles and told her to do her best. Within a year, she could groom him without a muzzle or any obvious stress. She was always so patient with my older dogs as they got less compliant and ornery. As a veterinarian, I know that taking any dog to any vet or any groomer can can cause some degree of stress, no matter how competent and caring that person might be. Some groomers won't even take older dogs as they are worried about this issue. Sometimes even a minor stress can be too much for an older dog or one with an undiagnosed problem. Teri has always been willing to take on any dog I brought her and I have recommended her to numerous friends and clients--they all had nothing but positive things to say about her. read more

AAA is the best! Terry has been grooming my dogs for over a decade, and her employees have worked for her for years. Happy people = happy dogs. My dog has skin problems, and she needs to be soaked in meds. They always report changes in her condition. My pooch is a huge hairy dog, and grooming her is a lot of work. AAA is well staffed so the dogs are taken care of. I went to another shop years ago before I found AAA, and they let my dog with orthopedic problems jump off the grooming table. Our dogs, Max and Rollo, are much healthier because they get baths from AAA Pet Pros every two weeks. Teri found a tick on one which did no damage because it was caught so early. She often catches a developing ear infection that is easily fixed with early treatment. Teri also warns me when they are gaining weight. I highly recommend them. read more

These guys are amazing and love all the pets who come in like their own. Maisie and Charlie are not fans of haircuts but they adore Terry and her team. I particularly love how they smell when they come home from a wash and cut. I also love the bandana's and hair bows they come home with. They look so sweet. If I could give the owner of this place less than one I would. I have a labradoodle who has had bad experiences including a cut on the tongue from a groomer. I had pre-assessed ie, had walked to the place, described my pets situation, and that he needed a little special care. I had my appointment today. The owner, clearly busy did not take a minute to introduce herself to me, and proceeded to tell me that first she did not have an appt ( under different name). Then she asked me to stand to the side, while she assessed Leo. According to her Leo was matted and needed to be shaved down. He has regular grooming every 3 to 4 weeks. They were really busy and Leo does get tangles which come out with conditioner. It was clear to me she did not want to take the time to handle him properly She then proceeded to try to quickly place him into a kennel and , I had specifically asked that not occur 2 times before going there. I think this place is a factory for pets. I am truly disgusted by the behaviour. I must say the assistants seemed better, and kinder . The owner is clearly there to process the animals as quickly as possible. My lowest recommendation possible. Please see the other review regarding the poodle. I could not believe the character of this owner. Stay away. read more

I've got a dog-walking business and this is the groomer I always recommend and use for my important clients--which is all of them, I guess. The owner used to be a veterinarian's technician and she really knows her stuff. GREAT with the itty frou-frou doggies, and last week when I stopped in to get my Yorkie's nails clipped she had a huge standard poodle in there with by a mile the best poodle cut and fluff I ever saw. I've got, among others, a Yorkie and a part Great Pyrenees I take there , so she runs the gamut. Also I noticed from pictures on the wall that the owner was really into dressage years ago, so she's a real animal person. Price wise, if you call around to the many groomers in the same area the prices are about the same, and I don't know anybody as good--many savvy La Jollans use this place. Parking can be a trick. Whenever I pick up the Yorkie he smells like a flower garden and he's got a little cowboy bandana on, and I sing "The Streets of Laredo" to him on the drive home. Admittedly that has little relevance in this review, but it's a part of the experience I enjoy and suggest you try. If your dog reacts when you sing "I see by your outfit that you are a cowboy..." you got yourself a smart dog there, pal. read more

I admit that I have a difficult dog to groom, but my groomer for the last 6 years never had any trouble. I moved recently to La Jolla and tried out AAA Pet Pros based on the good reviews and a personal recommendation. I let the staff know that my dog was difficult. They said they would work with him. I dropped my dog at 8am and told them I needed to pick him up by 5pm at the latest. When I got there at a few minutes before 5 my dog was still on the grooming table, not even close to done. They said that he had been so difficult that it had taken them all day to get that far. In the end I took him home not fully groomed since I had to get my son from daycare and they refused to clip his nails (even though he had a muzzle on, and he only weighs 17 pounds). They never called me all day to explain what was going on or that he might not be done by 5. I figured 9 hours would be sufficient no matter how difficult he was. In addition, their prices are astronomical. Almost twice what I would expect to pay for grooming. In the end, they were simply not very nice, and blamed me entirely, even though I warned them up front and they said they could handle it. I have since found another groomer I am very happy with who can handle my dog just fine. read more
