I wanted to leave a quick shoutout for Sean at AAA Water Restoration. I contacted him for an estimate and he was seriously great to deal with. Even though I didn't end up needing to move forward with the work, I was really impressed by how professional and timely he was. He actually showed up right on time which is rare these days. He was incredibly thorough and checked everything out from top to bottom to make sure he didn't miss a thing. You can tell he's a really honest guy because he gave me the straight story instead of trying to sell me on stuff I didn't need. If I ever have an actual emergency down the road Sean is definitely the first person I'm calling. read more

If your insurance company is paying for all your water damage then the following may not be important to you but if you are trying to get a third party insurance to pay for it or you are paying out of pocket then you might want to read on and find a more ethical company to work with given, as you will find out, the large amount of money at stake. We called out AAA when water leaked into our condo from an upstairs neighbor. As is typical in such an emergency condition we ended up with what the legal profession calls a contract of adhesion meaning basically: you agree to pay them whatever number they come up with for their service and you won't know how much until you see the bill. We were at the beginning of a 3 month long ordeal to get the third party's insurer to admit liability and settle with us. We could hold off on remediation and reconstruction but had no choice but to act decisively to stop the current water damage (basically dry it out) or risk the mold getting worse and spreading. We figured that logically this part, abatement, should be the least of the expenses, especially given that damage was primarily limited to one wall and part of a ceiling of a small (less than 50 sqft) bathroom and an adjacent hallway closet. Basically AAA's abatement process consisted of assessing where moisture was present, cutting a small hole in drywall near moisture to allow air circulation behind the walls and ceiling then setting up some scrubbers and a dehumidifier to dry them out, along with installing some plastic curtains to prevent any mold from spreading to other rooms which they did. Not exactly brain surgery. While the area was drying, we discussed next steps with AAA in anticipation of the insurance company settling. This is the first red flag we encountered. The condo was built in the 1970's and it turned out there was asbestos in the ceilings and drywall joint compound. However, it turns out the AAA is not licensed to remove asbestos and wanted to bring in another company to remove it for some huge additional amount on top of what we owed AAA. In fact we never got an honest quote up front as to what the remediation would cost. We were intially given one number that believed was the total ($17,710) but turned out not to include the asbestos part then another number presumably including the asbestos part but they would never commit to putting in writing that they would remove all the asbestos for a given price until we were far beyond the point of wanting to continue to deal with them. At the month mark, the emergency was over and we were no longer interested in a contract of adhesion and so we decided to stop work with them at the abatement stage and hired another company, ARG Restoration who, in addition to being qualified to remove asbestos, were completely up front, transparent and reasonable in their cost and did a great job. As for AAA, It turned out that for simply doing the abatement steps listed above, on a 50 sqft area, the charge was $15,881, over three times what the mitigation work by ARG ended up costing us. Fortunately, the bill was itemized so I was able to examine how the cost had ballooned so much given how little labor was involved. It turned out that the majority of it came from charging us for basically "renting" the two scrubbers and the dehumidifer for over a month. (Yes, during the entire time we were waiting to hear from the insurance company to get the money for next steps until we finally decided to cut them loose, AAA had kept the equipment at our condo, a period of 32 days). It turned out that AAA charged $275 per day for equipment that, for the same period of time, can be rented from home depot for a small fraction of what they charge but we had a contract of adhesion so that's the rate we were stuck paying their rate. The outrageous part, however, is that the equipment had actually been turned off and moved into the foyer by the occupants after 15 days yet we were forced to pay $275 a day for 16 days when the equipment was not even plugged in! I did not have to take the occupants word for it, SoCalEdison provides a nice graph that shows daily electricity usage and clearly showed the 15 days when electricity usage was significantly higher than average starting with the day they set up the equipment and stopping at day 16. It is also necessary to point out that AAA made regular visits to check the moisture and so they had to know the equipment was sitting there unused and yet blithely continued charging us for it instead of taking it away or at a minimum informing us we would be charged for it while it was on our premises. In fact, their tech finally made me aware the equipment was unused some 8 days after it had been turned off (based on SCE graph) at which time I immediately responded and told them to remove the equipment. Despite this, it sat their for another 5 days for which we were charged an additional $1375 before they were removed read more

After unfortunate events with our upstairs neighbor's HVAC leaking into our unit, we had to find someone who would be able to help with water mitigation as well as mold removal. They took the time to understand our situation (lots of issues) and walked us through what would need to be done in order to get our place back to the way it was. Under no circumstances use this company, they are so unprofessional. I called to get a quote for water restoration and they did come by to assess the situation. After a few days went by I asked if they had my bid for the job. They said their software was down so they needed another day. I waited another few and still no bid. Do you want to wait months to get the process started? Do you want to be chased by their sub-contractors and threatened with collections because AAA took their money? Do you want to have a long fight with your insurance because they did more than the scope of work so you're out of pocket? In August 2021 I had a supply line in my master bath burst. My condo's maintenance and I did our best to dry it out but realized it was bigger than what we could do so they suggested I call Sean (aka Yaniv) as they had done water resto in our community before. I had seen their trucks and was comfortable that they would know how to navigate my HOA, the building structure, and the city. I was wrong. The one warning everyone said was "They do a great job but take a long time to do it" I thought to myself that I could handle that as I'm working from home and would be on top of it. I was wrong. No one would explain the process and what to expect next. I had to constantly follow up for them to visit and check to see if everything had dried out. Then came the abatement testing, they tested and cleared it and I sent all the documents via email to the front office and waited, and waited and heard nothing. I finally called the sub-contractor and he said he was never notified by AAA. Finally, this sub-contractor under the instruction of AAA removed more than was needed to. Sean even stated this during his walk through (he only showed up once for the job to check everything) that they shouldn't of removed the door frames as it is only approved for level-3 or something in that nature. It is February 2022 and I am finally finished having my insurance approve to fix those things as it was outside the scope of the water damage. In January 2022 I get an angry email from the sub-contractor that I am delinquent on payment and will be going to collections. After a back-and-forth with them and my insurance we realized that AAA invoiced and received payment for the sub-contractor, a big no-no, and now were ghosting them when we were asking about payment. Luckily my insurance was able to stop payment and reissue the money correctly. Finally, when AAA first entered they promised me they would do A to Z (remediate then make my house look like it was). Sean came in and thought it would be easier not to replace the entire flooring of the house (insurance paid for it) and just put a different material in the hallway as it would be easier. WTF? Second, when he was about to start fixing the place he wanted me to sign and pay 10% of an estimate he refused to show me. How am I to guarantee and pay for something I cannot see yet. He claimed this was standard, neither my insurance not other contractors that came in after condoned this practice. When I called him out on he, Sean got very angry and started yelling that I had ruined everything and that he was on my side from the beginning and now the insurance would not help. Guess what Sean, after 6 months of trying to fix your mistakes, the insurance is helping and another contractor is going doing the job with amazing communication. Suggestions so you don't lose your license: - Don't threaten legal on yelp reviews (a neighbor got scared and took theirs down) - Communicate - a simple text telling me what to expect in what time frame would of been sufficient vs ignoring calls and saying you'd call me after your meeting - Don't steal your sub-contractor's money read more

They had someone come out to check out my house for mold. After he left, he said the owner would be in contact to follow up. A few days go by and I didn't hear anything, so I texted the owner, but he never responded. Then, the next day I called and he said he'd follow up in a day about remediation. A week goes by so, again, I reach out and he said he'd call me back tomorrow. This goes on and on and still, nothing. TLDR: Pros - mold remediation was solid. Cons - tricky/sneaky with money/insurance and leaves you feeling taken advantage of if you're not 100% on top of things or asking the right questions (but what if you don't know what kind of questions to ask because this is your first time). This was the first time we experienced any type of water damage in our home so there was lots of new territory to navigate. We discovered wetness in the carpet of a second story room on a Friday, called them first thing the very next day, Saturday, and someone was out in a few hours. They were well recommended by the neighborhood, plus the 5-star review on Yelp, so we felt good about your choice at the time. We were extremely grateful for the quick response. They had a tech check the moisture in the wall and we were at 99% as well as a soaking wet carpet. The first red flag came when we discussed pricing. At least 3-4 of their employees, including Sean, heavily stressed that we should not involve our insurance. If we did, they would take too long to come out. We needed to remediate the situation immediately, especially since I was pregnant and had two little kids (they referred to that a lot). They gave us a quote for cost, which we could front, so we signed paperwork and they got to work. In the meantime, we checked with our insurance to see if we could file a claim after the fact (just in case), they assured us we could, so we moved forward without filing a claim at the time. What we didn't know, and were never explicitly told, was that this price would be for tearing down the wall and dehumidifying the room ONLY. This would not cover any mold that they might find or patching up whatever they had to tear into. The invoice hit us like a pile of bricks and was several hundred dollars above the highest estimate. It was itemized and we could see that they charged us for extra days of a new dehumidifier when one of theirs stayed on for several days and malfunctioned the whole time. I told them I needed to discuss the total with my husband after not seeing any mold remediation or putting the wall/ceiling/carpet back on this invoice. Sean must have texted me three times the day the invoice was emailed out, saying I could just take a picture of the front and back of the check and text it to him and all sorts of ways he could make it "more convenient" for me to send him money. He was suddenly very, very eager to collect the check. Realizing it would be a much costlier project than anticipated, we filed a claim with our insurance. This created a very real rift between us and AAA, as they suddenly became less communicative and willing to answer our questions in a timely manner, which was the next major red flag. Yes, it took a while for the insurance company to come out like AAA said, but by now we had spent several weeks with AAA only and it felt like we wasted time altogether. Ultimately, we were able to pay for the dehumidifier and mold remediation process with the insurance. However, the repairs estimate from AAA was egregiously high. When we had our insurance company review the repairs estimate and had them communicate with AAA, we experienced radio silence from AAA. I must have emailed AAA 2-3 times and texted just as many and heard nothing back. Literally nothing. I decided - they were paid up for what they did and it was time to find a contractor to fix up our space. It's now mid-July and we first called AAA mid-March. Today our contractor finished up the room the tape was finally taken off our stairs (which AAA charged us over $200 of manpower hours to put on 15 steps + two small landings). And to be completely transparent, there were other factors that made this a lengthy process (turned out we needed to replace the entire roof, so I had to vet roofing companies, among other things), but the back and forth with AAA once we got the insurance involved really stretched things out. The reference to our personal family situation also made us feel targeted and taken advantage of. read more

AAA Water Restoration was respectful of our property and personal effects, and aside from a few hiccups, handled COVID issues like masks and social distancing as well as possible. They listened to our needs and did their best to work within our restrictions, especially scheduling which they were champs with most of the time. The standout person at the operation is Walter with the remediation team, he was exceptional and a real credit to the company as he was both professional and empathetic to our situation, took a hands-on approach and made sure we were comfortable with our understanding of the various aspects of the work. The star removed was for some communication and timing issues, more to do with the remodeling than the water remediation itself - we used them for both jobs. After an upstairs neighbor's plumbing accident flooded part of my place, AAA Water Restoration came to my location incredibly quickly, brought equipment to dry out the affected areas, removed part of the flooring, and started testing the walls and ceiling to identify all the damage. This water remediation took several days, AAA Water Restoration sent a representative by every day to check on the equipment and the drying process, using non-invasive testing equipment to verify the water remaining behind the drywall. They also set up a tent to isolate the affected part of the bedroom, as the noise, heat, humidity, and asbestos from the machines were all a concern. There was an issue with one piece of equipment that had to be swapped out which set us back a few days. They kept us informed every step of the way, and did their best to work within our schedules. They also performed demolition as the final part of remediation, and they were careful to truck their trash out of our complex (we're not allowed to have contractors dump on-site). There was some confusion during the remodeling estimate-gathering phase, and while not all of that was on AAA Water Restoration's hands as we had to deal with both our and our neighbor's insurance as well, there were some issues getting that quote approved due to a few issues. They were able to be smoothed out as time went on. With remodeling, for the most part it went smoothly, but there was some confusion as to what work was getting done by which worker at what time, and a few days where we stayed home for scheduled work that was missed (one was a family emergency, that can't be helped; but a few others were total mis-schedule and mis-communication issues). There was also an error on closet doors being removed incorrectly which led to several days of confusion for their team in re-assembling, delaying the last step of the job. As such, work took longer than expected and slowed down our ability to get back to normal. The finished work was good, In terms of COVID masks and social distancing, this too would fit the 4/5 review as they definitely did what was asked when reminded, but there were times when it'd be the wrong kind of mask or they'd fiddle with their masks to speak louder, so it's pretty good if not 100%. There was also a day when two workers weren't wearing COVID masks in the workspace, after pointing this out to the team lead he spoke firmly but understandingly to the team to make sure they took mask safety more seriously while on-site. Overall, I'd say that AAA Water Restoration did a good job, I would recommend them as I think their commitment to respecting clients' property and scheduling needs was admirable, and many of their employees showed a level of caring and concern that was a cut above, especially Walter with remediation who was top notch; but there are still things that could be improved which keeps it from being a perfect rating. read more

Right off the bat, definitely not very professional. Had two technicians come on two separate days. Both didn't notify me they would be late (one was almost an hour late and the other one canceled the whole job last minute). Both techs didn't bother to bring their ladders and asked me if they could stand on my chair. WTF. Sean said he'd be here between 10 and 11. Okay, cool. 11:15 rolls around and I text him to see where he is... He tells me he's sorry and he had an emergency and he's not far away. An hour goes by and he says he's really sorry but we'd have to reschedule for tomorrow. He shows up and takes pictures and writes a few things down on his notepad. A couple weeks go by and I still don't have a report emailed. Basically a waste of my time. Seems to me that they're only willing to be professional if you're a guaranteed job for them. Our condo had mold in the vent so we called AAA to help with the remediation. Sean told us that we can get a discount if paid in cash. We signed the contract which stated, "Contractor will furnish all labor and materials to construct and complete in a good workmanlike and substantial manner." After the 3rd party contractor cleared the mold, we paid in cash and they told us they'll be back. However, Sean's team ultimately left a mess for us to clean up AND with holes in the wall because they removed the surrounding drywall. Does that sound like a complete job? They are tricky and want your money, and untrustworthy because they never mentioned that repairs would be an EXTRA cost. They never even responded or sent us a repair estimate. Now we have another issue to figure out when it could've been taken care of by their contractor team as part of their "complete job." They told us that they would match the other quotes we received that includes repairs but in the end, this didn't happen. What a great experience I had with AAA restoration. I am a restaurant business owner, when I came in early morning I found our place flooded with sewage. I had no idea what to do. My wife and I identified a leak in one of the fixtures in our newly remodeled home...unfortunately for us, the leak also brought some mold growth...I hit yelp and found AAA Water Restoration...I gave Sean a call at around 7pm, he picked up and asked for some details...by 8am the next morning, he arrived and gave a quick quote, and by 9am, i squad of walkers was quick to deal with the issue, putting up plastic sheeting to quarantine the area and protect my floors...by the end of the day, the impacted area was cut out and cleaned, and we had HEPA air scrubbers and dehumidifiers running. After a couple of days to let the dehumidifiers do their work, we were totally dry and Sean provided a quote for the repairs to replace the drywall...again, by next day, his crew arrived and made quick, high quality work of the area...really appreciate Sean and his team's professionalism...absolutely premium work and would recommend to anyone who needs fast, efficient and thorough work done! If the company is reading this review I hope they read the whole thing bc there was one thing I truly did not appreciate that had nothing to do with their quality of work. AAA Water Restoration Company was great. The guys were here when I needed them for two emergency leaks, and were very clean when doing their work. They took care of drying my walls and preventing anything from happening in the future. They all did their jobs very well. *Karen the secretary, was always so kind, and very communicative. She was a pleasure to speak with. *Walter was so hard working, and thorough when it came to making sure the job was properly done and fixed. He also answered any questions/concerns I had very well. *Dimitry was very kind and helpful. He came to my home immediately to help dry up a second leak, in a different area, put the paperwork together for my insurance, and followed the project through from beginning to end. *Sean (the owner), it took me meeting with him a second time, to realize he was just a good hardworking guy. He has a lot of pride in his work and is very meticulous as to how he runs his business. My first impression was that he was a little rough around the edges. The company prides itself on being clean and treating your home as if it were their own. I truly appreciate their great work and cleanliness. Now here is the only thing I did not appreciate. Short version...when I hire you to do a job, I don't expect multiple people from your business to complain about my other contractors doing a separate job that I did not hire your for. If I don't have a problem with my other contractors, then please don't complain to me about them. Here is the story...At the time of the leaks I already had another contractors crew working in my home doing a master bathroom remodel. These leaks that AAA came to fix had nothing to do with the remodel, and came from another bathroom. Sean, came over to asses the first leak, and while I understand my home was dusty from the demo, I didn't appreciate him telling me the other workers were not doing a great job because of all the dust that was accumulating everywhere, along with a few other things he pointed out. Then when the rest of the AAA crew came over, I must have heard bad mouthing about my other contractors crew for dust about 5-6 more times from different AAA members. The AAA crew works very well and does a great job, hence the 5 star review, BUT I happened to like my other contractors crew and love the work they have done, despite the dust (it's very difficult to find an honest contractor that you trust, and I trust the contractor that was doing my remodel, and liked his crew). When most of the guys from AAA complained about the other contractors and dust from the remodel area, they also explained that they were contractors and did that type of work as well. It felt like they were bad mouthing my contractors work so they could sell themselves. The multiple complaints about the dust put a bad taste in my mouth, and just didn't sit well with me. The guys from AAA could have just said they do remodeling work as well if I decide to do anything else in the future, and not complained about the way my other crew did their work (if they did that, then I would have been fine). Coming home after being gone all afternoon to discover our home completely covered in water. Needless to say we were terrified and heart broken. They did a thorough job of removing all water trapped in the walls and floor. They repaired all surfaces back to original.
