Car overheated on the way back from the Wake/Nc State night game. We pulled into Hanes Mall around 11:30 pm. Just so you know, it was cold that night. We have been AAA members. So I contacted them and they said they would text me back as to when they would be out to help. Well, the text came back and they said someone would be there at.....wait for it......3:00am! Such a long wait is UNACCEPTABLE under the best of conditions, much less in freezing temperatures, no heat, no place to shelter and middle of the night in Winston. No way we could wait that long. Fortunately, I have a good friend who owns a wrecker service but he was 30 minutes away. That's still better than 3 hours. My buddy came through and our car was towed successfully. THANK YOU JOE'S TOW OF MOCKSVILLE! Needless to say AAA was very disappointing. They have always come through in the past but in this situation which could have been potentially harmful for any number of reasons, they fell far short. read more

Do not take your vehicle here. I only went there for an oil change, but I guess they saw a woman and figured they could scam me into paying for more services. They told me that my coolant and my fuel system needed to be flushed because the fluid looked dirty. I had both of these flushed earlier this year at another shop. I will not be back. When I got an email asking to rate their service, I told them it was a 0 because of the scam. The manager emailed me and told me he was sorry if I was confused, but the recommendations were mileage based. I emailed him back and told him the guy specifically said that my coolant was dirty. My "case manager" was very polite and professional the FIRST day and that's it. After that conversation it was like I was speaking to a completely new person. And then when I made a mention of him (Patrick B., Winston Salem office) being rude, he simply refused to take my calls after that. DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT IS HIS JOB TO DO SO UNTIL THIS MATTER HAS BEEN COMPLETED. When I came to the junk yard to get my items out of my car, the employees were able to reach Patrick, but when I called his number immediately after they did, he ignored the call 3 times. This insurance company does not try to hide the fact that they really don't want to help in any way, and they only want to collect your premium. If I thought it appropriate, I would have added much more colorful vocabulary to this review to really convey the way this company has made me feel after YEARS of on time payments being made. I took my vehicle in because it was overheating $839 later and a day and a half wait I had a new water pump and thermostat a little pricey $500 labor. I got it home and it would not idle so I had it towed again at 8am by 3pm i had not heard anything except they were trying but the vehicle was not acting nice. I told them i was in the middle of moving into a new apt and my entire move depended on my vehicle. There was no sense of trying to get it done in a timely manner. Do not waste your money buying a AAA membership! I am a premium member and have been for years. I needed a tow this morning and AAA isn't providing tows today. I was stuck in the middle of interstate 40 in Greensboro NC. I called at 0700 am and waited on hold for an hour to be told I couldn't get a tow off the highway until 1100 am. A police cruiser came up behind me and called a city wrecker who came right out and it cost me $110 to move the Frontier off the highway and AAA said they still weren't coming out. If yelp would let me give them no stars I would. AAA is full of liars and thrives, don't waste your money. Save it and just pay for your tow out of pocket. No matter where I am in North Carolina, I will always have my vehicle towed all the way to THIS location! The visit this review is for further proves my point. August 2017 my SUV cut out on me at a gas station right outside of Fayetteville, NC. The closest AAA Car Care Center was in Fayetteville so we got towed there. They replaced my starter. The customer service was terrible and it seemed the service rendered was terrible as well because I ended having to get it towed into the Winston location shortly thereafter but they didn't find anything wrong. From that moment forward, something always seems to not be working right with my SUV. Finally, in December 2018 the SUV wouldn't start and I decided enough is enough! I drove it in for a diagnostic and come to find out, I had received a bad starter in August 2017. Now I know that it is not possible to know when your new parts are bad, HOWEVER, when I initially told the Fayetteville location my SUV still wasn't starting/running right, they should have offered to have another look. My replacement service was covered under my warranty and it took less than 3 hours. Micah and Angela always take good care of me and deliver excellent customer service! read more

In March 2017, my friend and I were driving from Wisconsin to Florida and back (we're crazy, I know). Her car completely broke down. Within 15 minutes after calling AAA we got a tow truck to help us take the car and us back to the AAA in Winston-Salem. Even though they were about to close for the day they took the time to look at the car and explain to us all of our options. We decided to rent a car from the airport and a wonderful member of the office drove us all the way there and waited till we got our rental car taken car of. He helped us with our bags and was very patient with us. He even helped me find my wallet! We had incredible service. In the chaos of our trip, AAA saved us! Thank you! read more

The most awful customer service. I just walked in with a coupon for this location, which I obtained from a local coupon book. The coupon was for a $21.95 conventional oil change. I handed the guy at the desk the coupon and he just stared at it for a hot minute and said "woooow". I'm like excuse me what's going on and he said "this is just really old. We don't even do conventional oil changes anymore." Then he says "but its fine we will honor it". I'm like "...this is a 2019 book". Then he adds something about giving me a 2017 price and laughs to his coworker who is also acting like this is a ludicrous situation and I'm trying to scam them. Meanwhile I'm just like what is going on and who treats a customer like this. This is the worst place to get your car fixed. I am out several hundred dollars and they neglected to attach the fuel line properly, after misdiagnosing the problem and fixing something that wasn't broken. I left in a sputtering car due to their dangerous incompetence. Determined to get home (and take it to a real mechanic) I did not take it back. They claimed to have driven the car on the highway and it was fine - they were obviously not telling the truth. The also talked to me like I was an idiot, overcharged for everything (except tires -which I had to pay in advance for???) I will NEVER go here again and will let all of my friends know they this "repair" shop is just about money and selling - never about helping customers or doing quality work. I never had a positive experience at this location. This one lady behind the counter was rude to me and talked down to me like I was a child. She was quoting me on a repair and she "all of a sudden" tells me I better sit down and when I told her "just tell me the costs please", she said "no, you got to sit down and listen". I avoided going there since unless I have car issues and need a tow from them and desperate. But, disappointingly, they turn out to be just another dishonest chain auto garage that finds something wrong with your car every time you get an oil change, and they charge outrageous prices. They sent someone out to jump the battery in my truck in August. The man said my battery was shot and needed to be replaced. I paid for a new battery (about $100.00), and he installed it. Today, Nov. 12--the battery does NOT WORK!!!!! I called them about it and they said that they will send a guy out to check it---for a $40.00 FEE!!!!! I was on my way to Chattanooga from Durham when my truck broke down outside of Winston Salem. Being a AAA member I called them up a waited for my tow truck. Well, he must have headed my way immediately because I only waited 30 minutes and I was about 25 minutes from the AAA Car Care Center. The driver was very professional and courteous. He even spoke to the store manager when we arrived and explained that I was only 2 hours into an 8 hour drive and was really hoping to get back on the road ASAP. Like all car repairs you can expect to wait for a while especially if you bring a car in after lunch time. These guys/gals were able to get me back up a rolling down I-40 in just under 2 hours which was awesome considering I was already assuming I'd need to find a hotel for the night! Based on my conversations with other satisfied and returning customers in the waiting area I realized I was in good hands. I may have arrived late that night to my destination but I made it and was on time for work the next morning. Three cheers for the three A's! read more

I typically go to the Greensboro store (where I live) but because of some business I chose to go to this AAA Car Care Center. They did find several things that needed to be addressed before I went out of town. I however, will be going to get the defective wiper blades (the blade started sliding on the way home from vacation) that they put on replaced at the Greensboro location. I was served quickly, professionally and was informed about everything going on with the repair to my satisfaction. 2-9-16 --- Thank you for asking me for my feedback. I had called AAA # to get assistance because car would not crank and she convinced me to let a tooe truck come since computer was saying it "was not a dead battery". We agreed she I would make an appointment for an open bay at Car Center on Stratford Road. Before toe truck could get there, car cranked so I stayed until toe truck came and then I drove to 606A S Straford road. Turned out it was a dead battery which I got charged $192. I consider $192 to be excessive. If I would have a got the little AAA truck that has batteries, I could have bought a new battery for under $140. After over 25 years of membership with AAA, this was my first and last visit to a Car Care center. Thanks. read more

If my car needs to be towed in the future, never again will I have it towed to this "service" center, which provided the worst service imaginable. After the initial estimate of 45 minutes to an hour that it would take to get my car inside to diagnose, I sat in the waiting room and after an hour I was informed it would be "longer" (no definite time) than that. After three and a half hours, my car had not been moved from the place where the tow truck dropped it off, nor was there any sense of urgency by the service center personnel. I was told that there were many cars "stacked up back there." Not having any hope of anyone even looking at my car before closing time, I opted to have my car towed to the place I should have gone to begin with, in High Point. Clearly this place doesn't care about losing business, I guess they have all they need. And they were going to charge $99 just to diagnose the issue, so they not only lost that $99 but whatever the repair bill would have been. My biggest issue is the misrepresentation and lack of communication. Had I known they were too busy to bother with me, I would not have had my car towed there in the first place. Shortly after my car arrived at Brentwood Service Center in High Point, I received a phone call informing me of the problem. They have already ordered the part to be shipped overnight and will fix tomorrow morning. That's excellent service. AAA on Stratford Road is a poor example of customer service. read more

Let me start of by saying, I have used this AAA for minor service needs in the past and haven't had any problems. However, during my last visit I had so many problems that I doubt I'll be returning. First of all, I went for an oil change and to check on a "service required" light that was on. They admittedly told me they weren't sure what the service light was for and shut it off - which was fine. Now when they did they oil change they did the typical try to tell me everything that's wrong so I spend all my money gig and I agreed to having them put in a new air filter. Now skip to about an hour later (at this point I've been there 1.5 hours), I went and asked if it was almost done and they said yes they were bringing it out right now. Fifteen minutes later I went and changed again, at which point I was told they had to ORDER the air filter and it would be there any minute. At this point I declined having the air filter change because I was already late for work. In my opinion, if you have to ORDER a part you need to make that clear to the customer so they know there may be an extended wait and see if they need to come back later. So, already annoyed at this part. Then I get home and my service required light dings back on - double frustrated (took it somewhere else and got that cleared up). THEN, two days later my "service engine" light comes back on and I thought maybe it was from the dirty air filter that I hadn't gotten replaced yet. So I went and bought a new one and realized as I was changing it that the current air filter wasn't replaced correctly when they put it back in my car before I left. This blows my mind since an air filter is an easy part and the mechanics should know how to replace it easily. Very disappointed and won't be returning. read more

do not get insurance through aaa very crappy insurance my husband has been a member of aaa for over 15 years we thought that since he was a member that we would get our car insurance through aaa also so we went to the winston salem office and a linda hahn had did our policy she was a wonderful person to deal but when my husband's truck caught on fire due to electrical problems that's when we got treated like criminals my husband who just had back surgery and is walking around on a cane now got accused by lee foster also with the winston salem office but she accused my husband of setting his own truck on fire at 3:00 a.m. her exact words to my husband is that "trucks just don't catch on fire at 3 in the morning in your driveway" that really offended not only my disabled husband but it also offended me the investigation lasted a month before we even got paid for my husband's truck and aaa took out the full payment for the insurance on our truck during the investigation my husband called and asked why and they said that we would get a refund back for that well here it is july 16 and my husband just called aaa and talked to a tyi d. he wouldn't give a full last name but he said that we wouldn't be getting a refund back due to a $123.00 early cancellation fee now let me say this no where in our policy does it say that there is an early cancellation fee and not one time did linda hahn or lee foster explain that if we cancel early that we would be charged a $123.00 now i do not nor does my husband go to or have we ever been to insurance school so if the employees do not do their job why should the customers have to pay for them not doing their job we are still looking through our policy and there is no where in there stating that there is an early termination even in the "other termination provisions" page 16 of 16 like tyi d. stated that in that paragraph it does state that well i have read it 6 different times and no where in our policy does it state that if you cancel early you will be charged an early cancellation fee so everyone listen do not get insurance with aaa they treat you like crap and are rude we are getting read to cancel our membership also...i would not recommend to no one...very unhappy read more

This is in regards to a service that my daughter purchased at the local Winston Salem AAA office. AAA Travel Money Card should be discontinued. It is unconscionable that you continue to sell this card when you are well aware that MetaBank and VISA911 do not stand behind this card nor offer the services that are sold when your travelers purchase it. My daughter lost her card and is currently left adrift in NZ without her money, AAA, MetaBank, and VISA911 all are abdicating their responsibility and no one is helping my daughter get her replacement card. Her money is being held captive by MetaBank and she cannot use it. Hopefully there are enough consumers that have contacted the FCC and the Attorney General that we can get some action on stopping this travesty against our young people. I will spend the next week posting on every website and social media outlet I can to help other would be victims. read more

On my resent visit to AAA on Strafford Road I was very disappointed with my service for the following reasons:1- my main reason for the vist to the car care center was because my windshield wiper fluid was unable to come out of the dispenser to wash the windshield and have my oil changed. Therefore after waiting about 45 minutes my car was ready. When I returned to my car to leave I noticed that there was no sticker on the windshield to remind me when the oil would need to be changed ,I also thought I would test my windshield washer function. The water coming out of the windshield washer dispenser was spraying in different directions. I promptly went back inside of the AAA center and expressed to the staff what was wrong. They immediately took my car back to change the oil ,they stated they didn't see that the old needed to be changed and they also readjusted the windshield washer fluid sprayers. This time when they informed me my car was ready I tested by windshield washer function it still was not correct. One of the technicians worked on the windshield washer and stated he would have to order a part for it to work properly. It was late and closing time . I informed the technician I would call him in a few days to see if the part was in. The part needed to repair my windshield washer is in and I need to make time to go back to the car care center. I Also noticed that there still isn't a sticker on the windshield to remind me when the oil would needs to be changed. The staff of the car care center were always polite . This visit was very disappointing and time consuming on my part . In the past I had no problem with them getting the work done in a timely and professional maner . read more
