I took my work truck in to have it looked at there was a honking sound when the truck was in between 3-5 gear's accelerating. When I dropped it off the tech said oh I know that noise it is the transmission. They replaced transmission called let me know it was done. I picked my truck up drove for 20 minutes and noticed an exhaust leak you could now hear and the transmission wasn't working. I barely made it back to shop and the mechanic said there was no transmission fluid in the new transmission. They took it back for about a week called and said they needed to replace a thermostat valve for around 300 dollars paid for it got my truck back and it literally had more issues then when I took it. Still making same honking noise, now an exhaust leak you can hear and the transmission didn't work. Had towed back they replaced transmission again but then had another 300 dollar part to change out and now my brakes, rotors, hubs needed to redone I reluctantly to get it done hoping I would have my truck running in full order. Got it back and it broke down again and had to be towed back I advised them of the same issue exists and the exhaust leak was to audible and the truck transmission was still bad. Towed back to shop for another week where they replaced a part on transmission. Got truck back again on October 19th still having original issues still have exhaust leak and truck is not running properly. It was soo bad I had to trade in my truck taking a 10,000 dollar loss on top of almost paying them 10,000 dollars and losing out on five days of work because of continually breaking down. I put my truck in the shop on July 7th and got it back working worse then when I took it on October 19th. I would recommend that this shop closes or gets under new management no professionalism. I was told to bring my truck back in a week because they were behind with warranty work and that I would have to leave it another week. Please do yourself a favor and avoid coming here at all cost. She comes back after they finish and they bill her $163, more than double the quote, claiming they "had to order oil and filters." Terrible business practice charging over $150 for a routine oil change and charging more than double the authorized/quoted amount. Still haven't even finished my coffee yet and was still struggling to wake up when I went in for a "free check". Before looking at it, there were numbers thrown at me for a rebuild and or crate transmission ranging from first $3500-$3800, with the same warranties. AND, "that could be more or less depending on what else we need" while spitting out internal part names like I've never worked on an old Ford before. As soon as those numbers popped up, I gave estimates I have gotten elsewhere as well as the names of those shops. No surprise, the guy wearing a thick gold chain, immediately dropped the price like a mid 80s used car salesman trying to build his commissions instead of being an honest sales person looking out for the best interest of the consumer and integrity of the companies name. They will charge you 5x what a normal oil change is. They quoted me a price before I came in and once the oil change was finished the final bill was 5x the price. Expect what should be a 30-50$ oil change to be 200$ where they take 24+ to complete. The man in charge made up excuses on how he had to order oil and filters. A rubber o ring went out in rack and pinion causing all power steering fluid to leak out but I knew if I got it to James and his crew they'd fix me up right and again, they certainly did. Any other shop wouldve screwed me for a grand but they found the problem, replaced the O ring, fluid cannister and had me on the road the next morning for a small fraction of that and I would recommend them to everyone, especially ladies without mechanical skills. Nope! Dont do it!! This business is trash. My car was diagnosed by another shop and I needed to replace the transmission. Couldn't find anyone that worked on hybrid transmissions and the dealer was booked up for over a month. I found this Aamco and they said yes we work on hybrid and can replace your transmission. This is where the nightmare started. Got my car towed and started the process. Brand new transmission $14,000 without labor. My warranty only covered up to $10,000. Agreed to get a used Transmission for $4600 with labor. A month goes by and I decided to check and see how everything's coming along. James stated Transmission here and we're putting it in. Two weeks later I call back and get we are testing out things. I get a call the next week from James saying we need to get paid because I'm not putting anymore money into this and I'm going to take a lean out on the car and sell it. What? Isn't that how a mechanic shop works you complete the job then get paid and most importantly is my car complete. Contacted my warranty company and they sent him over $4400. You would think I'd be picking up my car now. Not at all. He began to talk about I needed a new hybrid battery and some adapter and the adapter would take 40 hours of labor but he wasn't gonna charge me. I had already got my car diagnosed and they never said anything about a hybrid battery or an adapter. Long story short my car sat in this shop for 3 months. When I picked it up my AC or heat didn't work, it's making a loud whining noise, it was filthy with oil on the inside and outside of the frame and my steering wheel is off making it hard to drive. I called James and we had to drain the freon out and I'm gonna call the technician and see did he forget to put the freon back in smh. Called him a few days later and he says it your blower and don't expect to get a new car bumper to bumper with your warranty and your AC wasn't working before and hangs up on me. Why would I lie about my AC not working knowing I didn't want to call you back and deal with you. I'm stuck with a car that's loud, no AC or heat and dangerous to drive because of my steering. Had John and others help us with my 2017 Nissan Pathfinder riding rough. They did some very expensive (sensor) repairs and finally got my car running okay. But while it was there the technicians put dents in the rear and scraped the bumper and the paint on the rear quarter panel. They argued with us after we received it saying they didn't do it, or we should have noticed it while we were there. Finally, it was like pulling teeth to get them to take responsibility for it - which they finally did - but their solution is to have their 3rd party independent "shop" take it in and do a whiz/bang repair on it. They said, "You'll never know the difference." They refused to have it repaired at a body shop of our choosing! Great service! We dropped off the car on Monday afternoon, a little before closing and Kevin told us that they would inspect the car Tuesday morning to diagnose the problem which was free. We were suspecting the clutch so he gave us a ball park figure over the phone before we even dropped the car off.. The repairs ended up being on the high end of what was quoted, but we weren't surprised. They were able to get all the repairs done and we picked up the car Wednesday afternoon. I went here last year only because my transmission gave out on 71 and it was the closest shop. i paid over 3,300$ to get my transmission rebuilt, I take my truck home and the next morning to walk to my truck to go to Work, instead I found a puddle transmission fluid under my truck. I called them back and was furious because there was no reason why this should have happened. So they said it was a gasket issue a simple fix. the very next day I get a call that my truck is ready, as I arrive to get in my truck there was a puddle of transmission fluid again. they have looked at it on 4 separate occasions. again I was furious, well there was a new manager i spoke to and he said he would take care of it. then a new manager was in office saying there were no notes, the GM was useless in fact I believe he's the main one out here scamming people. I just paid 1,300$ to get my truck Just yesterday. I go to pick it up this morning. as I started my tried and tried to drive off I could not turn my wheel for nothing, the tensioner pulley was missing and the belt was loose. Crazy how it magi disappeared over night. I took my 05 Mini Cooper to the Burnet location because my power steering was randomly turning off. I researched the problem online and found out that it was most likely the pump and fan-- a very costly fix. I repeatedly told the guys at the Burnet location what I thought the problem was-- after taking a look they told me it was just the hoses. After the repair was made my car still wasn't driving the way it used to so I decided to take it to the south Lamar location and get a second opinion. It turned out that I was right and the pump and fan needed to be replaced. They did the work for free because of the other shops mistake. They saved me a lot of money and were very helpful. My friend took her car here (against the advice of AAA to let the vehicle run for 20 minutes and take the car to AutoZone) and they charged her $400 for a new battery. Part of it was $129 for "cleaning" the old battery first as some sort of test solution (which they have to know is not going to do anything) and then $319 for a new battery installed which is beyond ridiculous. I understand their specialty is Transmissions but I definitely would not trust their honest opinion on something as expensive as a transmission. This was my second stop on my quest to get my fiance's junker fixed. She was continually having trouble getting her sweet ride out of park, so first thought was to take it to a transmission shop. The first place I stopped out was a family-owned place. Murphy's Law took over and I of course could not demonstrate the problem as soon as I got there. They looked at it for about 3 minutes and told me they couldn't diagnose anything until the problem actually occurred and told me to come back. I immediately began my search for another shop and ended up at AAMCO. Being in the day and age of the Brake Plus ripoffs I was a little hesitant to take my car into a big name store for repair. I couldn't have been more wrong. The repair guy listened to what the problem was, told me what he thought it could be, but said "let's let it sit for a minute and I'll see if I can get it to duplicate the problem." He did, and finally the damn thing got stuck. He was right about the needed part. They didn't have it in stock, but didn't send me home. They sent someone out immediately to go retrieve the part at a local auto parts store. Told me right up front what the cost was and Brandon?? the manager said he could have it thrown in there as soon as they got back. I was in and out in under an hour. My headlamp was out so I replaced it and it still didn't work. Expected a few hundred dollars of work. The manager called and said the new bulb was blown out because I probably touched the glass before I put it in. I didn't know not to do that. He also was going to replace the license plate bulb which was out. I felt stupid and asked how much. He said no charge. That included for the bulbs, too. Though I normally would, I was in a crunch and didn't ask how much an oil change would cost me. I drive a 2016 Hyundai Sonata that takes a synthetic blend and they charged me $98! It's theft. During my visit he called to tell me I needed transmission fluid and a new filter. That was gonna cost me $660. I called Hyundai and asked how much all of this would cost me at the dealer ship...$200 total for all that plus an oil change. This place is over priced and quite honestly not worth the convenience. Let's see, I took my SUV there for a simple transmission fluid flush. Waited about 3 hours, just to hear that the flush plug was cracked, and while putting it back on it broke. So waited another 2 hours for that plug to come in (all so suspicious). Payed for the part, as at this time I was already late for work (fortunately worked at pluckers down the road). Drove off, and noticed it was not driving correctly. Called them to let them know. And they denied anything wrong with it. I've only had positive experiences here. Granted, I am not a car expert at all, but I have been generally pleased with the work and service that I've received at this garage. Everything seems to be on the up and up and they have great customer service. The mechanics and service manager listened patiently as I described all of my problems with the car in non-technical language and asked questions that demonstrated that they had been listening to me. Please avoid this place at all cost I went here to get routine maintenance I make it a point to keep up with the maintenance the guy I normally go to no longer serviced vehicle anymore I live in the area and pass this place so I decided to go here they had my vehicle for days kept telling me all these things were wrong with the vehicle I never experienced any issues with the vehicle because I always listened to my previous mechanic now all of the sudden my car has all these issues I get my vehicle back my first sign was my infotainment system wasn't working I tried a few troubleshooting steps no sound was coming out and my little screen would not turn on so I start driving to my destination after picking the vehicle up all of the sudden my air conditioning turns off I pulled over turn the car off tried to do a power cycle my air still isn't turning on mind you we're in the hottest month of summer so I'm heading home going down 71 and my air turns back on I roll all my windows back up I get to the point of 71 where it splits and you can go north or west in that area they're doing construction in that area all the dust from outside came through my air vents then when I would get to 60 MPH my wheel would start shaking my vehicle never did any of these things before I made sure to do my maintenance according to the owners manual I call these people very unprofessional hanging up in my face I had my male friend go back up there with me the guy had an attitude very disrespectful so I took my car to this place located on N Lamar he tells me that I don't have any air filters in my vehicle I paid this place $1,400 for all these supposed repairs I needed according to them on top of having to pay $64 a day to get to and from work using Lyft I was out of about $1,700 at that point read more

It's never fun moving to a new town and trying to find a mechanic to trust. I needed to pass my state inspections to register my car, but my check engine light was on. Aamco will do a free evaluation/check and let you know what is going on. I knew my catalytic converter was an issue (from a mechanic in Colorado), and sure enough, I got the same report from Aamco. When they quoted the price, it was the same as in Colorado (from my trusted mechanic), so I knew they were not trying to take advantage of me. When I got the car back, they said they had to replace a couple other things, but they also said they did it at no extra cost. When I had to return again later for another part, they waived the labor cost because I had just dropped $1100 previously. John was great to work with. Been driving by the place for years, finally had cause to go there after my beloved Mobil station on S. Lamar closed down. Just bought a new car and the power steering went kaput. Very nervous about taking it in to somebody I don't know as I was afraid it might be a bad pump, or even a leaky hose, and they would tell me its the rack and pinion. Well Kevin was very friendly and told me, yes it was the rack and pinion. However he showed me the old one, without me having to ask! I have always asked mechanics to show me the old part and they never do. Done the same day at a reasonable price. Very happy. Would have given 5 stars if not for the fact I had to go back because check engine light was on and they had not fully re-connected a sensor. They quoted me at 80 plus tax and a free oil change since I'm a returning customer. Got in done in about 30 min. I forgot my wallet and was paying with a checkbook from my car they also needed my license which I didn't have. Each time I brought my car in they told me about coupons to print off before hand to save money. When I need my AC fixed, I went to one auto shop that quoted me $1,600 for the work (not including taxes!) but AAMCO did it for $1,000 (with taxes). read more

on 02/15/2015, I was told over the phone that the diagnostic check was free and it was. I knew I had a major oil leak and knew the repairs would be not so wallet friendly, but I was told their are many payment options for costly repairs like mine. which gives you some relief from having to cough up the dough right away. In the end I had the work done, it totaled : 1,458 ( (550 for labor ) ( 125.00 for a strut from the dealer) it took a total of 6 hours. No stars at all. Car wouldn't start. Roadside service guy told me probably alternator. Neighbor passing agreed. Recommended AAMCO, ask for Phillip. Went there Phillip said diagnosis (cost would be $69.??) would show problem; starter, battery, or alternator, said of the three alternator would be costliest, gave me a quote of $550 for alternator, said could be ready next day p.m. Called next day and said I needed new battery but that the alternator was bad, too and would be $10??.$$. Said I would come get my car, said that's why I asked for quote yesterday, told him I have been saving to get dog's teeth cleaned or I would not have had what I do. He said to let him check and he would call me back. Called back almost immed. Said he usually changed belt but he would forgo that to save me money, that he could do it for $600. total, taxes and everything, but I would still need a new battery. I told him that I had just gotten that battery 5 weeks earlier, he said that bad alternator had ruined battery. I asked what else he wasn't doing, that I didn't think a belt could cost $450. Said he was giving me labor free. I said Gee, that's sure nice, why would you do that? He said, look, lady I'm just trying to save you some money. Since I had checked other garages while I was waiting for him and they were all in the $600 range and if I paid for the diagnosis I wouldn't have the $ to take it somewhere else, I told him to go ahead. Said car would be ready in 3 days. Said if I could go ahead and get new battery if I had transport while he did alternator, and he could check everything again all new. couldn't do that. When I picked up car he said it would be $662. I said you told me 6 even, he said maybe he did. I paid him that and he said you still need a new battery. I drove straight to battery place and related what Phillip had told me, and I waited 2 hrs for new battery. Mechanic came in and said nothing wrong with battery. I told him what mechanic had told me, that I was car dumb so he went and put in a new battery. Checking out they wanted to charge me full price for new battery, I said the battery is under warranty and mechanic had told me that it was bad. I stepped away and called Phillip, he said that there was nothing wrong with the battery that he had told me several times that it was for peace of mind. I said you never said that, he said are you calling me a liar, I said that I guess I was. He said he was sorry that that was what he meant to tell me, that I had already alienated the people there and I should go to another location in chain, call the manager over and tell them my age and that I needed a new battery for peace of mind, I hung up. I apologized to people and said I would need original battery back in car. They were very sympathetic, said that my mechanic had misled me, I said he wasn't my mechanic anymore. Mechanic there said the alternator did look new. They were nice. End of story. read more
