We had my daughter-in-law's Kia soul towed here last week with what appeared to be transmission issues. Oscar was the AAMCO employee I dealt with when I dropped off the car. They kept the car for several days and were not able to find anything wrong with the vehicle. They did not charge my son anything for their diagnostic work and while they were not able to identify the issue, I think it is commendable that they did not charge anything. Horrible experience. 5/11/23 vehicle delivered to AAMCO. I waited 15 days for approval. AAMCO contacts me, I would have to pay $438 if I didn't want to wait for CarShield to send parts. Using AAMCO parts would not be covered if there is an issue later. Get truck 5/30, On 6/16 go to have the fluids checked. Told to return on6/17. I got home, the transmission light came on and quit moving. Towed it back to AAMCO. On 6/27, pick-up truck. On 6/28, the powertrain and transmission light comes on the dash. 6/29, AAMCO believes it is a bad sensor. AAMCO drives vehicle over the weekend. 7/3, vehicle fixed. I drive to Alabama where a loud vibration starts. I pulled off the interstate to have it checked. Firestone looked at the vehicle. They show me the driveshaft is barely hanging on by one bolt and the other is missing. I now don't trust any work that has been done by AAMCO. 7/25, AAMCO owner gets photo and video of the drive shaft hanging. 7/31, meet Owner who has checks vehicle, we discuss my horrible experience, and they could have killed my family. I asked for compensation and get an invoice that says, "Customer wants compensation. He was offered an inhouse credit for future repairs." Owner Robert Sanchez when questioned about this, states he wants to keep me as a customer. I advise that with my experience, I wouldn't want to have service completed here again. He offers a different location. I express I'm not comfortable with that. I asked for a dollar amount to be added to the invoice to protect him and I. He refused. So, it is a useless invoice/legal document. I advised I would consider it. I requested AAMCO pay the amount of $800, the second rental car cost and inconvenience. Sanchez states, he doesn't reimburse people for rentals. He offers me a check. I'm so done by this time, I agree. I want to caution anyone that uses Brandon AAMCO you have made a mistake. Where do I start? We took our Subaru outback into Rob and Charlie at AAMCO to have our transmission looked at in January 2019. First thing, ROB told us he would not be able to tell us what was wrong until he dropped it for a fee of just under $400. Ok...we agreed. Once Rob dropped the transmission of course it needed to be rebuilt. We were told that it would take roughly one week for the work to be done. We were quoted an original price of around $4127 to rebuild the transmission. It took about 3- 4 weeks to get our car back in February 2019 which did not happen until we went in several times and demanded that they finish it. The price also went up to around $600. But what could we do at this point we were at their mercy. Once they rebuilt the transmission, we got it back it never ran the same. We took in multiple times more than 4 and we were told that nothing wrong with it. After repeated dissatisfaction Rob had us take it to plant city from Brandon for an alignment and to have the transmission adjusted. I don't know much about transmissions but I thought that an alignment was nessacary when a transmission was rebuilt. We felt like we were getting the run around. Whenever we took it in, Charlie would always brush off our concerns or tell us Rob wasn't' in and we would need to talk to him. Rob would just say there is nothing wrong. We felt like we were getting the run around. We hoped that since they were the professionals that they knew their craft and would stand by their work. After many visits we learned that Rob and Charlie own AAMCO so why could one not help us. Finally we gave up and accepted the way it was. Fast forward to 3/16/2020. The car was running a little rough in first gear. My husband called and talked to Charlie. Charlie agreed to take a look at it. Our warranty just ran out at the beginning of February, 2020. WE had put less than 10000 miles on the car since the work had been done. SURPRISE! The transmission was bad again. Charlie asked my husband for money to once again drop the transmission to diagnose the issue. WE DID NOT AGREE THIS TIME. Granted we did not pay for the extended warranty to ensure that they were doing their job correctly but come on. We expressed concern from the beginning and were given the run around. Top it all off when we went back to pick up our car Charlie asked us what kind of a new car were we going to buy. I told him well I am not sure because after investing $4500 in my car I was not planning on purchasing a new vehicle in a years time. I also told him that I could not believe that with the repeated concerns and the issues with the repair that they would not do anything. He simply responded by telling us, you must have talked to Rob and that he was just trying to help. He failed to recognize or acknowledge how I might be upset or frustrated and continued to answer phones while my husband I were trying to talk to him. Pathetic. WE WERE RIPPED OFF BY THIS BUSSINESS FOR AROUND $4500. THEY WERE UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING BEYOND TAKE MORE MONEY FROM US. ABSOULUTLYE RIDICUOULS. ALSO, DONT BE FOOLED BY THE NEW MANAGEMENT SIGN. This dealer gets a "0" rating from me. I do not recommend this dealer. We paid $3500 for a transmission with lifetime warranty, drove the truck 2 months less than 1500 miles, transmission went out in another state. Had to put truck in shop in the state where it broke down, 7 weeks later still not fixed because Brandon location refused to send part to fix transmission. Had to turn to corporate to get the truck fixed! The manager at Brandon location refuses to answer the phone nor return calls. I am royally pissed! read more

Advertise that they offer a free check engine light diagnostic. That's great, go onto the website and make an appointment. Appointment isn't confirmed but I go to the shop anyways. It's busy and the guy tells me he can't get to it till after lunch maybe 2pm. I ask if I can make an appointment for them and he says they only do first come first serve. I say but your website says you do appointments and he responds that corporate does that but not his shop. So, basically he is not inkeeping with corporate guidelines, does what we wants and is willing to waste my time by maybe being available to help me when I came back that afternoon. No thank you. Went in for a "FREE" AC checkup and ended up getting a $600 estimate for some kind of problem with the fans of the car. When they showed me what was going on a large plastic piece over the radiator was loose. The attending even pointed out to this as part of the problem and that the car was not safe to drive like this. I ask if he could fasten it (it clearly just needed a couple of screws); to my surprise he says yes, if I accept the work with them of course (being a dick at the same time). The part clearly was removed by them to check on the AC and someone forgot to assemble it back properly. At this point I was not in the mood to argue with the deaf old fart and left. Two blocks down stopped at another shop, got the screws in place, no charge, tipped the guy $10 and went my marry way. Shame on this people is, that as many auto shops in Florida do, fake problems and make up repairs to make some money out of ignorant people. The estimate cost was $3500 the final cost $3915.40. They added on shop fee, the taxes and Told me he would give me $100 off my final cost but the price was still above the quoted price. I asked Charlie, who was very rude with me, on explaining the estimate was not really the final cost but all these fees needed to be added. I was driving home and the engine light came on so I had to take it back to their shop. They keep it several more days, and when I picked it up, the car smelled like cigarettes and had been driven over 100 mi. used 1/2 tank of gas. I ask Charlie, who said, we gave it a good test drive. Charlie explained the problem was not his, but the torque converter they installed, it was NOT new as stated on the bill, it was a typo on the bill he said, he wanted my old statement bill to change it. Very satisfied with my service for a transmission repair here. I've had very poor experiences in the past with other transmission repair service and this one was excellent. Sammy knows how to handle his customers and his team. He even offered to drive at 9:30pm to pick up parts for my vehicle as we were moving and on a time schedule.
