Worst experience ever. Misdiagnosed vehicle, charged for service not needed and destroyed my vehicle. Steer clear of this place

Untrustworthy, deceptive pricing - I would never use this shop again or recommend them. I had a minor transmission pan gasket leak, so I brought the car in and even provided the correct replacement gasket as this is a classic car and I was charged for 2.4 hours of labor for a simple transmission pan gasket replacement that shouldn't take more than an hour tops. The next morning almost half the transmission fluid had leaked onto my garage floor. I brought the car back and was told there were other leaks that they missed, and I would get a call that afternoon with an estimate for the repair, but no one called. I followed up the next day and was assured that I would get a call and still no call. I went to another garage, and it turns out the bolts on the rear of the pan were not tightened properly. If I had not seen the leak and driven the car any distance the transmission would've blown. read more

Hey hey Adventurers! So I've read through a lot of the reviews and I'm pretty sure they were owned by a different company up until 2018. Cassandra and Mike are so amazing! Both times I've had to go for 3rd party Silverrock insurance claims via Carvanna. Each time they listened and understood my worries, Cassandra especially walked me through each one. FYI: check both your heat and AC when you get your car LOL. This time around was a second opinion bc Firestone used a bunch of jargon I wanted to ensure my car was healthy. Cassandra kept me in the loop with issues for my car, even texting after hours to ensure I knew what was going on. They were able to get everything done within 3 days. I realize a lot of people don't 'like' waiting but honestly it's mechanic stuff so it takes a while to make sure it all works. I will say ask for everything being done through a claim to ensure that you know what you're paying for. Unfortunately insurance doesn't pay for things that are being tested for what is being repaired, so make sure you just ask. Overall highly recommend this location for all your automotive needs. Don't be put off by the gruffness of Gary or Cassandra--they're great. Love the whole staff! read more

Totally dishonest charged me 1200 for a new clutch, did nothing except replace hose. Had to take it to another aamco who did the replacement correctly. The first shop didn't even contest the claim. She really did not like me looking into the repair area. I got bad vibes, turned out they were correct feeling. read more

I have a Jeep Wrangler 4 door, needed a new transmission - they ordered the wrong one and put in a Mercedes transmission and told me not to worry, this is even better. I've had issue after issue. They tried to fix it twice but it keeps failing. My most recent tow was from Brooklyn to central Jersey back to their shop. I've taken it other places and everyone says it's the transmission BUT THEM. It's under warranty and I'm having to tow it from there to a reputable mechanic for 1000 worth of transmission repairs. DO NOT SET FOOT IN THE AAMCO IN HAZLET NJ, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A WOMAN. I was given an estimate for $2100 and SPECIFICALLY AND FORTHRIGHTLY asked if there couldn't be a more expensive, underlying problem. The car is a 2006 which I use for work and I didn't want to spend more than the car's value, which I explained clearly. I was assured the problem would be fixed and when the repair was done the bill came to $2300. The car is doing exactly what it did before the repair and now they want $5000 to fix it. I had asked to have the old parts returned to me and after the repair but the manager had all sorts of excuses as to why this was not possible. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS AS POSSIBLE. I may take them to court so other, unsuspecting customers may be forewarned of their fraudulent practices. read more

Upon an inspection of the final bill, I found this company practices "price gouging" by charging 300% over costs for parts. Add to this that I got only a mile and a half down the road when the transmission warning light came on and I had to return to the shop to have that looked at. Don't be swayed by the BBB sign or the rating, it just means he has paid his membership dues, they said they have no real influence on the business per se. Finally the owner didn't even bother to return my call, so even if you have emergency repairs to be done like me-go elsewhere! read more

This company sucks with customer service you bring your car here for one thing and they use every excuse to get more money out of you their mechanics don't do their job correctly and when you bring it back to them more than twice and they still can't get it right I believe there is an issue while in the waiting area a customer called about brakes they got done and their brakes were not working and their wheel was messed up odd ok red flag another customer was an older gentleman waiting for his car I asked what happened to his car he said he got work done then in the morning his car was vibrating violently after getting work done and had to bring it back and paid more money to get the job fixed another just don't trust these people they are not honest and will not honor a warranty that their employee gives out over the phone and will change it without your consent even when you sign the receipt also the employee didn't want to add the warranty on my receipt I had to ask him where it was and he tried to pretend saying it's there on the back and expected me to walk out but I said show me and what he did was go to his computer and type something throw away the receipt he just tried to hand me and grabbed the newly printed receipt to show me also got charged for tow when I was told I wouldn't be charged if I got work done still shows 250 on receipt DO NOT TRUST THEM I REPEAT BAD FOR BUSINESS do your research on your car before getting screwed over read more

A transmission issue brought me Aamco Hazlet. I needed a second opinion on a trans replacement. Aamco totally was able to fix the problem without replacing the transmission, which saved me thousands!!! Now I do total care for both my vehicles at Aamco Hazlet. Such a great shop! I really do appreciate having this AAMCO in the neighborhood. This was my second repair here - my 2012 Chevy Impala needed a new alternator and battery. I believe I *may* have found a slightly cheaper solution elsewhere if I had searched around, but I doubt I would have had anything near the level of quality and service that I experienced. Kudos to Josh. He's an incredibly polite and soft-spoken gentleman. I made an appointment online at 6:30AM, Josh called me at 7:30AM and I drove in at 8:00AM and had a diagnosis and quote for the repairs within an hour. The repairs were done and my car was ready to go only a couple of hours later. The little things (i.e., setting the clock) where all taken care of. As always, the entire team was warm and friendly. I'm hoping it won't be soon, but I'm sure I will be back to this AAMCO. read more

Watch these guys. Car was shifting badly they test drove diagnose was internal damage to trans. Needed a rebuild trans bottom figure $2800.00 if they need more part would be more. I took it for second opinion J&B Transmissions and Auto Repair Middletown NJ 07748. They said that it wasn't the transmission at all. It was the catalectic converter. They referred me to bargain bakes in Keyport. A new cat a short time later I was on my way. The cost not even a faction of what Aamco was going to charge for the bogus trans job.
