Plano, Tx AAMCO. Took my van in on May 23rd 2020, David called me the next day (Saturday) and we discussed the issues I was having. Due to COVID19 dropoff contact was minimal. I have never gotten an update on what is wrong with my van. Yes, something is wrong with the transmission... but what? Absolutely the worst communication with a car repair shop that I've ever experienced. I posted my call log and txt mssg history as proof. June 10th (date of this review) I called to get an update. Was told to hold, was disconnected, and was ultimately told they'd call me back. I said I was coming to get it and take it someplace else and was told I couldn't. Then I was advised that the transmission has been taken to a different shop because they didn't have a mechanic there. "TRANSMISSIONS" is part of their name, I wasn't told they didn't have a mechanic there that could rebuild a transmission. I feel that both David and Raheem strung me along for the past 3 weeks.... both had said it would be done "Wednesday"... three Wednesdays later and I STILL don't have my van or even know for sure what failed with the transmission. I used to go here years ago because the guy who use to work there was very trustworthy and now I went about a month ago and the guy there now who seems to have taken his place stated they would charge me $190 an hour just to take a look at my car to see what's wrong. Very disappointed not sure if that was said so I could just leave because they were busy as well or if it was to take advantage of the fact that I am a female. After no joke 4 months of messing with the lowlights on my 2015 Chevy Tahoe I called Josh at this location desperate to just get it taken care of in preparation of my trip to Georgia. After reviewing ALL my options I scheduled my appointment and before spending a single dollar, Josh advised me the best way to go and saved me over $600!! The AAMCO shop located on Red Bluff Road in Pasadena, TX basically took my money and did nothing. I took it back several times with complaints, and it was always something I had done wrong. They also straight out lied to me about my brakes being bad. Do not trust these people, especially if you are a woman. read more

I went here to see why my transmission was slipping and I was thinking this going to be a big bill. The guys are really knowledgeable about vehicle's and honest.It was just a solenoid on my transmission. Instead of high priced transmission. Very disappointed in the service I received. I do not recommend this service center. Over $1500 for clutch repair and quoted 24 hour turn around time. I applied for an auto repair loan with a financing company that the manager recommended. I was approved and told by the manager that the loan had to be completed before they could begin repair. I completed the loan agreement by electronically signing. They were then paid by the loan company and began the repair. It was not a 24 hour repair time like I was originally told. When I later complained about the repair time I was told by the store manager David that he had other customers and they were down a mechanic. I was then told by upper management that the repair time was due to my car being discontinued. Took a total of 16 days for repair to be completed correctly. Gave the car back to me twice during that time and the car had to be towed back twice before job was done correctly. I was able to speak to the General Manager to voice my dissatisfaction with the service I received. At the end of my conversation with the GM Chad, he did advise that he had recorded our call. Overall, very disappointed with the service I received from this auto repair business and would NOT recommend at all! read more

The transmission in my car went out. I had it towed to the place I bought from they just wanted to get a used one and charge me $1000 no warranty. My thought another used one could go out too. I had it towed to another repair shop they really didn't sound like they knew what they were doing. I looked for someone that was more specialized in transmissions. I originally called AAMCO Transmission in Webster, Texas. Well they were closer to were my car was and they did know what they were talking about just there way of speaking to people wasn't the best. I then even though it was further I called David at AAMCO Transmission on red bluff in Pasadena,Tx . He was so wonderful they have a great team there. David was very respectful and made sure it was done correctly not just to get it running and send me off. They delivered my car in a timely manner and communicate step by step of the proccess that was taking place. They gave me the option to approve everything before doing the work and just giving me a hugh bill blind sided. I am very pleased with David his team and his wrecker service. Talked to David yesterday, seemed nice. Went in this morning to have trans. serviced. One guy in office on phone, never acknowledged me once. Stood there 10 minutes and he never once said anything to me, just kept on with his phone call. All he would have to do is tell me "be right with you" and I would have been fine. Met with manager Dave who directed his technician to investigate a troubling vibration coming from the drivetrain. I respected Dave's recommendation to troubleshoot the issue starting with least costly fixes and progressing from there. Dave's technician determines trouble may be loose "U" joints. Although Dave could have tried to talk me into a more costly repair, he advised for lowest cost fix. The repair was done quickly and below cost that I expected. Pleasantly surprised with Dave's shop. Will definitely return for future advise and work as needed. read more

I would send my mother there. There are two types of mechanics. First there are the parts changers who don't know what they are doing and (at the direction of their boss) just keep replacing expensive parts until the car is fixed and then they give you the big bill. Secondly (and all to rare) there are the true mechanics who do only what is necessary. These guys are mechanics and they are good. read more

Took my car to AAMCO with a jacked up transmission. James at AAMCO was awesome. Very approachable and helped me to understand what was really wrong. I needed to have my tranny rebuilt and they gave me many options to finance. Would definitely go back. read more

I had my car towed here on a Saturday ($75/not bad). Once I called the place the following Monday, I was told that it was going to be $600 to take the transmission apart to find the problem (which was going towards the total of the repairs). Robert called me back and told me that I needed a rebuilt transmission ($3000). The cost of labor was $700...what? So, he proceeded to inform me that my two rear tires were flat, and this is what was asked: "Did you know your tires were flat before you had this brought here." My tires were never flat, and how ironic that the tow truck transported my vehicle with the lift system, placing my two front tires on the device. Never once did this place take ownership of the damages they caused, yet instead, referred me to a tire shop right down the road from them. I will never take my car here again, and I feel like this place takes advantage of customers. I read reviews after the fact, and the only good reviews are those from years ago, which I'm sure it's from employees who worked there, or there own family members. There's a comment about them working with your financial situation. That's not true. They quote you a price and do what they can to stick to that price. I do not recommend this place, and hopefully you read through this review as opposed to the outdated reviews posted years ago. I would highly recommend Montrose Automotive. It may be a little more distant but, all of my vehicle repairs in the past have been done there, and not only do they repair your vehicle right away but, they are reasonable with their pricing and the quality of work is amazing. read more
