Don't waste your time going to this place. Called and made an appointment to be there at 9am for them to check my car out. They told me they could check it while I wait. Got there and was then told they don't remember speaking to me even though I had it right it my call records that I spoke to them. Then proceeded to tell me I'd need to leave the car for 3 hours to be checked. Took time off work to go get this done and now have wasted a day. HIGHLY DONT RECOMMEND this place! read more

Discount Tire sent me to Pro Tech because they noticed that the caliper on my front left tire was loose and I was about to leave town. These guys were so nice. A bolt was missing, which should never have happened. The calipers were recently replaced. They picked up a bolt from O'Reilly's and replaced it for free! They're awesome! I'm going to Pro Tech the next time I need service and telling all my friends! No one does that these days! read more

They will completely rip you off!! I am a resident of Clear Lake Shores and I wanted to try and help a small business in the area, that was the worst idea I could've imagine. My brother had went to pro tech a year prior and warned me that they wait to upcharge you for something that should have been fixed in the first place. In my situation I brought my truck up there to get my AC repaired. I told them what I thought was the issue and they took that literally and tried to fix the issue. I am not a mechanic nor do I believe I am one. That is why I brought my truck to them after they fixed the smaller issue that I thought was wrong. They found out that it was a way bigger issue that could've been resolved if they did the free AC inspection. They waited to tell me this until the end and wanted me to go with them for the bigger part and they wouldn't charge me for the smaller part they fixed. They are liars and I hope you do not make the same mistake I did! read more

Call ahead of time to make sure that they accepted the company fleet card for services. Left work early to drop of the truck before they closed Friday. Asked them again when I dropped of the truck and told them the fleet card was on the dash was told again no problem. They called Monday morning while I was out of town to tell me how much it would cost. I asked them again did they contact fleet and get it approved 20 min. Later they called me to tell me they don't take that card but they would "Let me" pay with my visa. Total waste of time now I will be late for work in the morning until they open and I still have a busted AC. At least they didn't fix it then tell me I couldn't pay for it with a fleet card. This company is the worst literally had the vehicle in the shop for two weeks they couldn't figure out the issue then they figured it was the PCM and replaced that for $900 then got it back and drove it 10 miles and it broke down on me at work and it was the pcm again.. I'd give half a star if I could, they towed it back to their shop and fixed it the next day now I have no backlighting on the gauge cluster I will definitely go somewhere else next time. read more

In which I just had them diagnose & fix my cooling system issue with my radiator during the hot Summer of August! Pete, the Owner is very knowledgeable & very trustworthy that is rare in the Auto Mechanic Shop World today that has values in which shows on how he values his Customers! He's a great listener & applies your auto problems discription in your itnitial communication to help get the diagnosis right( the 1st time).. His shop hasn't given me a wrong diagnosed ever! I have learned that other auto Mechanical Shops in the area are in this business for gain & not caring to get a repeat customer back after ripping that customer off the first time... And, have mistreated their customers in order to make a quick buck, not with Pete! His shop is family Owned & his Dad is an old school Mechanic that is great & his mark is shown in Pete's character in which is very rare these days in trusting certain Business. During the Virus Pandemic they are very careful & respecful in handling your vehicle! I can tell you horror stories of bad mechanics that I have dealt with in the area as I have lived in the Clearlake area for 10 years now, in which I have gotten jipped/ ripped off repeatedly! I was a previous customer of Pro Tech for about two years. At first, they had fair prices and did good work. However, after an experience of WAY overcharging on a brake job, I decided to look elsewhere. I found another mechanic that isn't the least expensive, but is consistent in both quality and price. Today, my son and daughter in law brought a vehicle in for simple service, at the advice of another. Well, again Pro Tech charged 50% more than the dealer quoted us. Of course, this was AFTER the fact. To say the least, I was agitated. When I asked the owner, he eventually agreed to match what the dealer charges, but only because my son was a little nicer than I was. I am thankful for the adjustment, and I am sorry that I was angry, but geez, I'm tired of young, inexperienced people getting taken advantage of by auto mechanics. read more

My son's Toyota Camry had a flap hanging down underneath the front of his car. He was about to drive up to Sam Houston and I did not want him driving on the interstate with his car in that condition. Took my mother-in-law's car there to get the thermostat replaced. They gave me a quote and I took the car in a few weeks later. They did the work properly and had the car just about done when they said it would be. I've had no problems since. Took another of my vehicles to them for an alignment and oil leak on my son's truck. Alignment was definitely needed after a lift kit was installed. They found leaking valve cover gaskets. Replaced the gaskets in a few hours. Not cheap mechanics but fair prices, good service and trustworthy. I will go back when needed. read more

Vis Charges for work not done or needed. Had him check my Freon. The charge was good The next day I realized the a/c compressor clutch was bad.Took it back to have it replaced. They tried to charge me for Freon and charging the a/c. It's not needed for a a/c clutch replacement. I made them take it off the bill. I did mechanic work for years I know better read more

I recently had my water pump blow. I was pretty sure it was the water pump, but after reading mixed reviews and short on time , I dropped my truck off and told them I didn't know what the problem was. The service was friendly and quick. They called me to inform me I blew the gasket on the water pump, they offered to replace the whole unit , the thermostat and belt in a few hours. Great work. The belt was practically new so the shop warrantied it out so I didn't have to pay for it. I would use this shop again. read more

Rip Off AND SCAM !!! I would like to describe my terrible experience with Protech Automotive: On 05/19/2014 Protech automotive charged me $1345, 13 for New AC DELCO injectors for my 99 Chevy express van. First the owner Vis quoted me $860 dollars but when I went to pick up my van he was not there and his son Pete said it will be $1345,13( $500 more). They Totally Ripped me off on labor since the part cost only $450 at the Chevy dealership (I called them later) and i had no other choose but to pay. Few months later my check engine light came on and it turn out to be the same code and problem- bad fuel injectors. I immediately called Protech automotive and explained the situation (at that time I moved to Dallas) and he said he cannot do anything but the part is covered by 1 year manufacture warranty and had to send it to him. On 11/04/14 I changed the fuel injectors at reputable repair shop in Garland, TX (paid only 482, 23 parts and labor) and everything was fixed. Few days later I went to Ac Delco retail shop to return the defective part for refund and it turn out that IT WAS NOT "AC DELCO" INJECTORS but "STANDART" INJECTORS( much cheaper) - Another Lie. I called "Standard parts" customer service toll free number several times ( they have very rude employees) to be told they cannot refund anything because it was not purchased by me and must go through the repair shop who bought it - Protech Automotive. The owner Vis was hiding many times and finally when I was able to reach him I was told to send it to him for refund. I did send the defective part to Protech Automotive in Kemah, TX via USPS with signature confirmation. On 1/7/2015 I spoke with the owner Vis and he said they never received anything and when I told him I have proof from USPS delivery conformation from their address, he hang up on me. Protech Automotive Kemah Location will RIP you off. Beware! 6/29/15 Took my Chrysler Town & Country into Protech Automotive to get the AC checked out & requested they fix the problem. Paid $106.90 for them to Evac & recharge AC with freon & they said they checked for leaks. Got into my car and it was barely cooling . Didn't even leave the parking lot & I went back in to the shop. Vis the owner said they got the car cooling down to 48 degrees, but when he tried to show me on the temp gauge the car was only cooling to 66 degrees. He said I would need to bring it back the next day & he would check it out & give me credit for $106.90. Next day 6/30/15 Vis advised me that I needed the R & R expansion valve & R & R dryer on the AC replaced & he would have to evac & recharge the AC again. The total cost to me was $321.06 & the car did seem a Little Cooler. 7/2/15 the AC is barely cooling and I am looking for a reputable AC automotive repairman to fix the problem.
