A few weeks ago my wife and I, and our dog Annie, were traveling south on I-15 from Salt Lake City to Provo when we ran over a 4-foot metal bar with sharp flanges on each end. Our right front tire was punctured and immediately started losing air. Luckily we were able to - slowly - exit the freeway and reach Todd's AAMCO shop on South Sandy Parkway. When we reached Todd's shop, we explained our predicament, as my wife and I are older and both have physical difficulties. We just can't change tires like we use to. Todd immediately and unhesitatingly simply asked for our car keys and where we were parked. He quickly moved our car into an empty work bay and had one of his men change the tire for us. Instead of sweating on the side of the freeway for up to an hour, my wife & I (and Annie) sat in the shade of Todd's parking lot for 10-15 minutes and then we were on our way. And just as amazingly, Todd told me there was no charge. We appreciate so much Todd's friendly "neighborly" assistance, and his service station's great work in helping us that day. read more

I went to these guys as I normally do to get a new alternator work done. I get the car back and it's been making some noise from the bottom of the car. I have no idea what the hell they did with the car but it doesn't sound right. The car was there for 4 days. Would I take it back probably not at this point. After having my car for four days they never called to say what was wrong with it. Six days later they call and said the car would be ready in three days. Three days later I arrive to pick up my car and was told my car wasn't put into the rotation to be fixed and they hadn't even looked at it let alone fix it. Their customer service is non existent. Took our bus into AAMCO transmission for a diagnosis. I had informed them that I had concluded that the issue was electrical. If the battery was disconnected the transmission functions as it should for around 20 miles. They agreed to take it in and diagnose. They came back with three check engine codes, solenoid 5, turbo and glow plug malfunction. They had told me they did a complete wire harness inspection as well. And they were confident that it is the transmission. After working on it for over 3 weeks they called and said it was done and they have driven it on 5 or so road trips to make sure it was working properly. We paid, and picked it up and within a block the transmission did EXACTLY the same thing! So, if it was the transmission, it would not do the exact same thing as they had rebuilt it! They also only put less than 3 miles on the bus not 20 plus as stated. So, we took it straight back and they had it for over two weeks and they came back and said it is all great and they had put over 20 miles on it to verify it was repaired. Again only 10 miles put on the bus not the 20 to verify the electronics. I needed to fix a squealing belt and, in the processes, found a new wire that was run from the transmission to the computer module. I called them and they said that there was short in the harness and that was the issue and it is now functional. They did not fix the problem they BYPASSED it! And they did NOT inspect the wire harness as they stated prior and they had the most expensive option done and then ran a wire. This is a scam job and they should not be allowed to continue to do what they are doing. If they had done their job as they stated they would have found the wire harness issue. I had told them that the transmission fluid was clean, not burnt and they could see that, and that the transmission ran as it should, cold or hot when the battery was disconnected clearing the computer module. read more

These guys have been holding my car hostage for weeks now and won't give it back unless we pay $2000 and that won't even get our car fixed. They gave us a quote to replace a $30 part but said it would cost $2,000 in labor. We had another company quote it $500 cheaper but we decided to go with AAmco because they could get us in a week faster. After they tore our car apart they said they needed a different seal but that the part was on back order from Nissan. There wasn't any option's except to wait maybe 3 weeks or 3 months or maybe never. So we started doing our own easy research and found out that part was actually discontinued but another part would work in its place. We had to call them and inform them of the information that we easily found online. So they tried to call a local dealer near them and they didn't have the part so again they did nothing. We finally just found the part on EBay and ordered it in hopes it will come and we can finally get our car back. They have done nothing to try and figure out how to help us or fix our car or correct the problem that they miss diagnosed in the first place. If they would have told us this we would have never let them take our car apart. They are obviously too busy to care about us or our car or give us any updates or tell us anything they are doing or have done to find a part or anything at all. I would never suggest to anyone to go there. (In the beginning we even told them we decided to go with them in the first place even though we had someone else that would do it cheaper and their response was yeah but we will do it better.) I've been there before and the service is usually great! this time it was a little rough. went in knowing i needed a new alternated and they ran their tests and i was correct. was told it would be done one day and that turned into two days later for a total of them having it five days. really inconvenienced me. usually quick service so i was just slightly disappointed. These guys were great. They were referred by another organization due to their integrity and work. I can see why. I had a tricky intermittent issue with my transmission. The ford dealership hadn't been able to identify what was going on. I took it here, they had the vehicle for a day, did their diagnostics , found the issue and had it fixed the same day. The staff went above and beyond to help me diagnose & estimate the cost of fixing my vehicle at no charge. They even informed me that my cars manufacturer had posted recalls on some of the issues I was experiencing and advised I go to the dealership before paying a mechanic! I came in to have my tire filled with air, nobody came to help me the manager finally came out and told me no one could help me, he said they were at "lunch" it was 3 pm on a Monday, he said he couldn't fill my tire with air, he was just sitting in the office. Jax and her crew are wonderful! My jeep had a leaky radiator and I took it in early one morning to get a diagnosis on the repair. Turns out I needed a new radiator. They kept my vehicle that day and had the repair completed by the time I got off work. Wow! The followup phone call from Jax the following day was awesome too. She just wanted to double check on the repairs to make sure all was good. I'm really happy I was referred to this business by a coworker. This company is the biggest rip off. They attempted to fix my transmission in my car and did a half ass job and it barely ran. Luckily it was recalled and I was able to turn it in and not have to pay on it anymore. I set up a payment plan and they use a shitty company that bounced my check and they expect me to pay it. I informed them I wasn't paying for all the work they didn't do and are charging me for. The car was recently detailed right before the transmission blew out and when I got my car back from them there was grease everywhere on it. This place has given us the worst service we have ever had. We called on a Wednesday night and they told us they would tow our van there to get fixed. I went Thursday morning to give them the key and no one had any clue where our van was and why it wasn't there. Then, the price they gave us was raised by $1300. They told us they would have our transmission fixed by the following Tuesday. It is now 9 days past that day and our van is still not fixed. They just called and said it will be at least Tuesday til it is fixed. That will out it at least two weeks past the day they originally told us it would be done. I went there for a free check up that I've printed the coupon on the website. They found all the problems that I know that my car have. That's good. But then the mechanic called me outside and said the computer was giving him errors and if I knew what they meant. Of course I don't know and he should know. He said my headlights are "wierd" but couldn't explain me any better, and changed from auto to fog and back and asked me if they are supposed to be this way. I have no idea. After that he asked me if I have another key cause the computer was giving him a message that could be a key error, my car is old and the key is just a key. No computer inside. So I've kinda lost my trust. Then another employee gave me the prices and and said my appointment to flush my break fluid would be 10 days after! My ac works just don't blow on high. They asked me for a lot of money to fix it, like close to 1000 bucks. I've drove to another place and they booked me for the next day. I've also check my computer errors when I had me emissions tested and there are none. They didn't gave me the paper with the estimates for fixing the things that they found to be bad. The technician who rebuilt my transmission did a great job. He took the time to explain the process to me and helped me learn about what the process entailed. On the other hand, the office was not as impressive. They miscommunicated to me and each other, their paperwork did not match what actually occurred and then the manager tried to prod me to submit an electronic review at his desk the day I picked up my car before I even drove the vehicle. I'm sorry other people have had trouble with this place, my encounters have always been good. Todd the manager couldn't get me in to fit my schedule in the morning so he schedule an apt. Late in the day which worked out good for me. My 4runner wouldn't come out of park unless you use the special release button every time. It took them a half an hr to diagnose the problem and fix it. Who knew, an electrical short. Thanks guys! Todd said it was a simple fix and there would be no charge for the repair. Made my day! I took my truck in for two things, fix pull/drift to the left and replace transmission cooler lines. $2000+ later truck still pulls left, transmission clip and body clips to retain the radiator cowling are missing. It's like they took shortcuts to get me out the door. Todd wants me to bring the truck in again. Would you go back in so they can charge you more for stuff they screwed up and did not resolve the first time, not me! read more
