Her last one was a success to remove tumor in jun 2021. The home health team of occupational therapist Alissa, Stacey, her physical therapist Alex, speech therapist Andrea and nursing staff Alyce, Hersey and Anita all were all just absolutely incredible with my mother. My mother went from bed bound to walking with a walker and doing more day to day activities for herself. This journey has been a miracle and we are excited to see more independence for my mother as she now will be going to an outpatient program. A big thank you too to our amazing caregiver Denise Banuelos who has been along my side since September. Mom would not have made these amazing strives without your loving heart and dedication to her recovery. Thank you for being you. You are one of a kind. In our case, the client was left stranded in a wheelchair without any immediate attempt by the company to send a replacement. Specifically, she was left entirely alone from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, completely unable to move around and with no food or water within reach. She sat stranded for five hours in a state of severe panic and distress until a replacement employee was finally sent to assist her. This is an incredibly callous and dangerous practice. We are actively looking for a different care provider.

And the care was delivered with a sincere level of empathy and compassion that gave comfort to all three of us. All of the caregivers were rock-stars. My father really enjoyed the company of and cooking by them all. But Maya, the owner, was the uber-rock-star. When we had questions or needed advice she delivered in a very timely manner and in a way we all could understand. She constantly took into account all three of our needs and desires. They fail to telephone the family and notify them that things are out of control and do you want a particular medication listed or in their emergency kit for your loved one. They make the decision and it is not a good decision! They use standardized high does of strong medication such as morphine, haldol and Seroquel to control your loved one when better options are available. You know that their intent is to never have your love one walk again but use MEDICATION RESTRAINT to keep them medicated when they don't send a wheelchair for them to sit up in. They have nurses who one assessed your loved one and comes up with different approach than another nurse. You should state you want to be called prior to any sedating medication is prescribed. Calls should never be made after adminerstating medication. CLEARLY STATE you want a call before they administer PRN medication. Otherwise they will kill your loved one faster than it should occur.

I had spent quite a while on the phone with the head nurse, who assured me they had no paperwork and no proof that the new wheelchair we had purchased for my mother was even on the premises. Instead, I was told they believed she was using an older wheelchair that had been provided by hospice and that it had to be returned to hospice immediately. My heart just sank. I felt frustrated because I honestly felt like what I was saying wasn't being heard. I was being told they had paperwork that showed something completely different, and I started to feel defeated. Not only was I being told I might have to pay for the six months they believed my mother had been using the hospice wheelchair, but I was also being told I would need to purchase a new wheelchair for her. That was a huge financial double whammy, and I was honestly beside myself. When Kayla heard how upset I was, she didn't hesitate. She immediately jumped into action. She was calm, reassuring, and never made me feel like I was on my own. One phone call later, and in less than 20 minutes, the entire situation was resolved. The biggest thing I walked away with wasn't just that the problem got fixed. It was how Kayla made me feel. She made me feel taken care of. She made me feel protected. My mom had previously been on hospice care with a different company and Comfort and Peace is head and shoulders superior to my previous experience. First of all, the speed of their responses and preparation for her discharge (over the holidays no less) was epic. I am so grateful for not only their responsiveness to us, but also the care and time they took to really get it right! They even helped me with facility placement recommendations Each function has been consistently responsive and communicative, as well. Nurse, social worker, etc. The team has directly contributed to my ability as a caregiver to function and deal with a difficult situation.
