I stayed here last month with my father for a Friday to Saturday night stay. We were going Salmon fishing on Saturday morning and wanted a place close by and so the Aartpark Hotel met our needs. We arrived to the hotel at around 8 PM and I can't say that I was terribly impressed with the way that it looked on the outside. We proceeded into the registration room which has you call the host. You see, he and his family presumably live in the areas of this building you can't go to. After a couple of rings he picked up and made his way to check us in. From that point on checkin was a breeze and he ended up being quite nice. Breakfast was included in the room here and he pointed it out and told us to help ourselves if the door was open in the morning. It wasn't anything crazy but had some juices, cereal and bagels. Whenever my father and I made it to our 2 double bed room, I have to say that I was impressed. While it didn't look great on the outside, the inside looked decent and like it had been recently remodeled. The only exception to this was the bathroom which was pretty tiny, but thankfully I spent very little time in there. Our beds here ended up being quite comfortable and I slept through the night easily without hearing any other guests. In the morning my dad and I each grabbed a bagel with cream cheese and jelly for breakfast. Since we ended up leaving before anyone was at the front desk, our checkout consisted of dropping a key into a box which was easy. The bottom line for me is that I would stay here again in the future. While you aren't going to confuse it with a luxury hotel, I was happy with our stay here and thought that the room was better than I was expecting. read more

Filthy dirty. It appears all the drapes and bedspreads have never been washed. Nothing vacuumed. Musty odor. Shower works minimal. No soaps, shampoos nor conditioner. Workers don't smile, no extra effort to satisfy customers. Closes up early, no one is in the office all night. read more

If there were negative or zero stars, I would select that for my rating of this horrible hotel! This place is a DUMP!!! Dirty, mold smelly rooms! Horrible service and the night clerk took 20 minutes to get out of bed to let me in the lobby at check-in. I could NOT stay in this mold infested room. On June 5, 2021, I left immediately and went over to Niagara Crossing, where I have stayed for the past seven years, but far more expensive! Btw, NIAGARA CROSSING HOTEL & SPA are the same owners of this hotel, as well! I was promised by Khrisna at Aartpark Hotel and by Laura at Reservations.com that I would get my $154.98 refunded within 7-10 business days. After several calls and hours of trying get my money back, still nothing! BEWARE of Aartpark Hotel in Lewiston, New York and BEWARE of Reservations.com. They both seem to be ran or employed with Indian-Pakistanis and the calls disconnect. They don't put you through unless you are booking a reservation. If you try to reach their accounting departments, typically, their call center personnel just hang up the phone! This has been a HORRIBLE EXEPERIENCE! After being a long time customer for many years performing our annual booked events in Niagara Falls, NY and staying repeatedly at the Barton Hill Hotel and Spa - now known as NIAGARA CROSSING HOTEL & SPA, one would think that Chrissy and Nicole at Niagara Crossing would help me reach the owner of both of these hotels and get my money back!??? Looks can be deceiving! The hotel looks like it has been recently remodeled on the inside, and at first glance it looks nice. However upon further inspection, we became grossed out. Several walls had mold on them. The tub was really gross, especially for a hotel. You can tell it had not been washed after several uses. I will say that the beds were very comfortable and clean, but stay at your own risk! read more

Hotel was very expensive considering what's offered - clearly not what I was expecting, very dated. The room was dark, the towels looked and felt 10 years old - one had stains, dirt in all the corners of the room, and there was mold in both the shower and toilet. One of the rooms has a broken window being held together by duct tape. Not what I expected for Lewiston and not a place I would recommend! read more

Several of my family members and the caveman and I stayed for a weekend when we had a wedding to attend over in Youngstown so it was fairly convenient being one town over. I followed my parents lead in this because I wanted to stay where everyone else was staying. Registration was a bit.. odd... it says to dial zero for service at the front desk and when I did the phone AT the front desk rang so I wasn't sure what to do next and hung up. Luckily the guy came out from the back and helped me check in (he's got more phones back there and heard me ring so came out to register me). It was quick and we were given a room Right on the parking lot which was convenient to drag all our stuff into. The parking lot is really narrow and the caveman's truck had a bit of a time getting in and out but we managed it. There are 2 more floors above and no elevator. (My parents were on the second floor). The room itself was clean enough... I didn't see any mold as noted by other reviewers, but the shower and tile were old... that bathroom area is TINY... my poor mom fell once while trying to change. The beds seemed new and the bedding was clean and new also. The rug was threadbare but who really cares about carpet? The sink and vanity were new... there was a fridge and coffee maker. This was adequate... ur not getting 5 star accommodations here but for what we needed... a bed and a place to shower... it fit the bill. It's a very small property and the one person I met who works there... I assume the owner.. was friendly. My parents were asked to switch rooms to the second floor to accommodate a guest who'd arrived that needed a walk in room as they had a wheelchair. There was talk about a refund of 50$ cuz the room they got had 3 beds in it. I am not sure how that worked out but it seems like that would be appropriate given there were only 2 of them. There is continental breakfast in the area where u register but we didn't take advantage of that as we met family at the very close diner we walked to meeting our family members. I did this via booking.com and it was expensive for what we got... 300+ for two nights but like I said, I really wanted to be where my whole family was so I paid for the convenience and proximity to my fam. read more

Obviously you have a silver spoon in your mouth. I spoke with you over ten minutes trying to compromise saying if half your guests stayed for two nights I could rent to you. You were the one short with me, as I tried to explain to you i only had 20 room total. If you cannot understand the conversation that I explained to you, not being short but HONEST with you, I would not entertain the idea of any of your guests on my property. We booked through Expedia at the last minute because we had inadvertently done one on the Canada side but didn't have our passports. The accommodations were clean, room nice, desk attendant was friendly and helpful. Lewiston is a really cute historic town at the end of the Underground Railroad. read more

Stayed here during a very busy weekend Aug 9&10, 2013, and found it very accommodating. With a music festival, The Spirit of the Eighties, and a Art Festival all going on during the weekend this seemed like the place to stay. Both Artists and musicians playing at the festival were all staying here! The owners were there for us and everything we needed. I recommend this place 100% ! read more

I was there the night all the power went out. The owners did everything she could to try to make people comfortable. I saw her having to refund money late at night because customers didn't want to stay She even made a comment that someone will give her a bad review because her house had power because it was on a different grid, and there it is posted The owner maintains the rooms beautifly, and they are spotless the backyard as a lovely peaceful place If the owner was rude, which I did not see, I am sure it was because she was stressed over no power for her customers. I spent the last 3 nights at the Portage House, Lewiston, NY and found it an enjoyable experience. It could use some updates but the positives outweighed all else. The room was clan, the beds comfortable, the frig kept my pop cold and there was plenty of hot water. It's location in the Village was convenient. It had lovely gardens in full bloom and a gazebo with picnic table. I enjoyed it and would stay again. read more

The only reason I gave it one star is because there is nothing lower. The guy who used to run this place was great. After he passed away his wife took over who has since run it into the ground. Her new boyfriend, who showed up two weeks after the owner passed, who runs it with her is also a real piece of work. When we stayed the power went out and half of our party was invited in, the other half was told that "there was nothing she can do" about the power being out and that we should find another place to stay. When the other half of our party went to check out they wanted a refund because they were still without power, they were welcomed with rudeness from the owner who demanded that they pay full price even though they had already payed for the first night and had no power. After a lengthy negotiation with her she finally allowed them to get their money back and find another hotel in the area. I cannot stress enough the rudeness of the staff and their unwillingness to accomidate anyone. It truly is a shame how this business had fallen from grace after the owner passes. read more

This place was just terrible, and to be completely honest because of the rudeness and horrible people skills we were not even able to stay here even with our reservations held on a credit card. My brother, father, some family friends and I all traveled to New York recently from Canton Ohio to take part in a fishing trip for my brothers bachelor party. To our dismay we got caught in a terrible storm on the way and unfortunately the power was out for most of the people and businesses in the beautiful, small town of Lewiston. We arrived at the hotel which did not have power except for in the owners living quarters. When finally greeted by the host/owner who was wearing a robe of some sort when she finally peeled herself off the couch and acted as if we were inconveniencing her. Not only did she not ask our names she did not even attempt to check us in and just simply stated that "there is nothing I can do for you" not once did she attempt to apologize, or even offer us a room and basically threw us out. While in the parking lot trying to make other arrangements the husband came over to our vehicle and in a very threatening manner told us to leave the property. There is much more I could say about this establishment but there's just not enough time in the day. The owners are horrible and extremely unfriendly and seem like they would rather not be bothered than help you in any way shape or form. Its a shame that these people can ruin this beautiful town and experience by being so rude and aggressive towards possible customers. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. I didn't get to stay in his hotel. I called trying to reserve 15 rooms for my wedding in the area. The woman I talked to in the phone was rude and told me she couldn't rent me 15 rooms on a Saturday night unless we stay Friday and Saturday. " I'd be shooting myself in the foot if I reserved rooms for you. I'd be completely empty on Friday night"....well now you can be empty both nights. I understand, but it's not good for business and you just lost 15 rooms!!! If she wasn't so short on the phone I may have considered continuing talking to her. But that's not the kind of service I want for my wedding guests. read more

I grew up in Lewiston and stay at the Portage House Motel every time I am in town. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable, convenient, affordable place to stay this is it. the landscaping is beautiful and if you have not been in a while wait until you see the recent renovations. My most recent stay was for an extended period of time due to a family illness and having a quiet comfortable place to stay after a stressfull day is priceless. The owners were very understanding and helpfull. their kindness will never be forgotten. Try getting that from a chain motel/hotel. read more

I like this place. I have stayed there twice this summer while in town for work, each time for a week and found the owners to be really friendly, and helpful. They work really hard, being a family owned business they do everything themselves. The rooms are simple, but have the basics, tv, fridge, air conditioning. There is a TOPS grocery store you can walk to in under 5 minutes, and it's close to all of the shops and attractions. The price is great, and the rooms are clean. I liked the gazebo and pond out back a lot, a nice place to sit and relax after a long day. I would recommend it. read more

This is a nice small mom and pops 21 room motel. It is not a "holy dump of all dumps" hotel, even though they do not serve breakfast they have vending machines and free coffee.. its right in the small town Lewiston and Lewiston always has fun things to do. I had to go on the motel web site to double check the picture after seeing so many poor reviews, but yes, this is definitely where we and another couple stayed for the weekend of the Youngstown Regatta. It was clean, comfortable and staff was helpful. There is a cute gazebo in back to hang out in. Decor is a little kitschy, but that is what puts the M in motel. Hot water, good water pressure, decent towels. I don't feel ripped off or used in any way. We travel a good bit and don't like to spend a lot on lodging, so if you are expecting the Hilton, you are overshooting, but if you want a decent bed at a decent price, I would highly recommend this place. I have stayed at The Portage House in Lewiston, NY, on numerous occasions and ALL of my experiences have been A++!! The rooms have always been clean, well presented, and neatly organized. The location could not me MORE convenient, as this motel is a 2-3 minute walk to a full-size grocery store, several restaurants, the Lewiston post office, and 2 different gas stations. Overall, the room was a great deal (when compared to all of the other motels/hotels in this area) and was very quiet and peaceful as well! read more
