This is my first time back in several years. Everything was absolutely delicious, the service was great and the decor is pretty. Even if you're intimidated by Indian food, you should try Aarzu. It's a gem.

    Creative deliciousness - Beetroot tiki

Did we all step into a classic Mumbai restaurant featuring creative delicious food or were we still in NJ? My daughter has been urging everyone to join her and her husband for dinner at this truly amazing restaurant. so, on a day when my grandson was being watched by others this became the choice. And what a superb choice this was! The welcome is assuring and you are made to feel very comfortable. If you have questions, please ask is is the comment from our server. His smile never ceases throughout the entire dining experience and he is always there to help. In our family are a couple of non-meat eaters but there are plenty of vegetarian/veegan options on the menu. Appetizers are presented in an artistic manner, but it's in the taste that restaurant start is such a winning combination for diners! The beetroot tiki was highly recommended and definitely should be every diner's. I will admit, I was disappointed in the duck tacos because they were not extraordinarily different than a good classic Chinese or Asian restaurant's restaurants duck appetizer. The duck was good and the presentation was beautiful but it wasn't awesome like the rest of the meal so I suggest making a different choice. Our entrees were all perfection. I would highly recommend the Mushroom Malai Mutter but my option the chicken korma was excellent as were all the other choices. I asked to see the dessert menu even though I was full. Everything was $10 and nothing really jumped out at me as being something to crave for. It was truly a wonderful afternoon meal and there was an option of eating out Al fresco.

This place blew me away. Came in to have dinner with friends and I was so glad I made reservations because it was very busy! The server was so friendly and accommodated some dishes to my friend's dietary needs (GF). The food was so delicious and the vibe was fun on a Saturday night. Highly recommend!

Went into this was low expectations as my family typically doesn't like fine dining indian restaurants but this was surprisingly good! We got the beetroot tikki, Bhatti ka paneer, and anjeer kofta which were all amazing. It is on the pricier side for Indian food but quality and presentation wise, you get your money's worth. Anjeer kofta was a nice change of pace from the traditional malai kofta and paired really nicely with the spicier paneer. We opted out of dessert which we immediately regretted because they all looked amazing but will definitely be back to try them soon. Overall this is a great place for special occasions and something different from the typical Indian restaurant without too much funky fusion going on, would definitely recommend!

Great ambiance, dim lightning, delectable cuisine, friendly staff and service, BYOB. The food is phenomenal and dishes are so presentable/very artistic plating. A bit pricier but totally justified for the taste , ambience and service they offer. We went on a Sunday evening without reservation, got seated right away and ordered Calcutta Gobi Manchurian, Palak Chaat, beetroot tikki for appetizers. For main course, we had Anjir kofta, Chicken Tikka Masala, lasooni dal and Achari Bhindi with assortment of breads. All dishes were very well plated and flavorful. My personal favorite was beetroot tikki, Palak chat, lasooni Dal and Achari Bhindi. Definitely recommend this place for a exquisite dining experience.

Service was prompt, patient and friendly but also ESL. In general , the food presentation was superior and tasted great. I thought the fish curry could have looked better with the fish skin removed and the curry was bland. My partner and I both had more than we could finish. Second best Indian food place in NJ!

    Avocado Mango Bhel

Outstanding food, ambiance and service! I've been scarred from bad, greasy, over spicy Indian food experiences in the past, but Arzu was a breath of fresh air! The mango/avocado Bhel, mangalore chicken, hot breads and sesame/matcha ice cream.... Each one was a piece of culinary perfection!! Highly recommend!

Overall, I'd give Aarzu 3.8 stars. We've been here multiple times for date nights and family birthdays and have always been welcomed by the great service and intimate atmosphere. We've tried a few small plates/appetizers/street foods, but our favorite is certainly the beetroot tikki - it's creamy and highly flavorful! The others we've tried were aesthetically pleasing; however, lacked in that punch of flavor I look for in Indian dishes. For entrees, I always get the bhatti ka paneer - classic! Our last visit, this dish was good, but lacked spice. If you're like me and need the spice, I'd recommend requesting it to be made spicy. On the other hand, the spicy guava drink - spicyyyy and AMAZING. I would keep coming back just for that drink!

Had a dinner at Aarzu, very different type of Indian food. The menu is unique and the service is too notch. The service is very fast and practically no wait time. Liked their unique interior decor, they have framed Indian sarees and hanged them. I especially liked their eggplant chaat and naan dip as appetizers and namkeen kali mirch gosht as entree. Highly recommended!

Visited Aarzu for the first time today for my anniversary. The ambiance is nice. Servers are attentive. Ordered beetroot tikki which was good. Vegetable kofta was good as well. For drinks we ordered spicy guava and mango mosco mule which were ok. Its a bit expensive but food was good. Worth trying.

Is this place kid friendly for a 19month old?

It can be kid friendly for a formal dining place. I take my 9 and 11 year old there. If your kids like to run around, then definitely not the place.

    Is this place halal?

No, this place does not serve halal meats. It is BYOB. The BYOB and hilal do not go together. So, while the food is superb and tasty but it is not hilal.

    Where are the prices?

I remember seeing them on the menu but they were like 17 instead of $17, I did find the price is a little bit high and you got nothing except for white rice with it. Even the bread had to be ordered separately

They have a buy 1 get 1 for the following, Tikka Masala & garlic Naan. I added 2 orders of samosas and 2 of the traditional rice. Winners!! Order was packed extremely well & was still very warm when received. We actually split the entrée and rice, so hubby has a whole lunch while I'm working tomorrow. Spices and warmth was fantastic, we loved the rice, fluffy and seasoned with clove, definitely my favorite and this rice just really complemented the entrée. Samosas were really a good size, I would order these to accompany a crisp salad, they are hearty, at least for me. I will definitely be ordering again through DD... or if in the area.. yes, I'd drive to the mall.

The interior has a wonderful vibe with communal table seating. Most importantly, all of our food was terrific. The menu is predominantly Punjabi Food (North India). Where else can you find Amritsari Fish or Punjabi Kadi Pakora on the menu!?! Being that my origins are from that area, I can firmly vouch for the taste and quality of the food we ate. We ordered Palak Paneer and Punjabi Kadi Pakora along with some plain naans. The food was very flavorful and delicious. We ordered medium spicy. If you can't handle spice, I would recommend going for mild. The medium had a nice punch to it. My only negative would be that the Mango Lassi, I ordered, should have been served in a large glass. Because it was good! I plan to come back again and bring my mom and dad next time. I know they would appreciate the food.

We discovered Mrs Kumar before it expanded and love the food. We visited Thumkaa which had its own vibes and while driving along 33E we kept passing Chozhas and decided we would visit on Valentine's day for Dinner. Clearly this restaurant does a booming business with its buffet and no difference on Valentines where an a la Carte menu was offered but there was such a crowd earlier that food and staff were exhausted. Fortunately we had Deepthi who despite being on her feet for hours made sure we were aware that the palak chat which was supposed to be out came back on the menu . Also giving us great advice on the quantity of food to order. She was excellent. Now to the food which was "good"...but not anything special. The appetizes Palak Chat and Lasuni Jhinga Shrimp were better than the main course of dal fry, goat rogan ghosh (nice having bones but not much meat). Rice came with garlic naan and the rice keer was served too hot as they ran out for lunch and had to make fresh. Now the decorations were really nicely laid out for Valentines and made it feel special. As we were leaving it was crowded. Clearly this place has a following and we were told the weekend buffet is what everyone comes for. We will try the buffet one weekend to see how the food is and hope that it really is exceptional and better than the a la carte. Again staff were great given how hard they were working and kudos to Deepthi.

I also threw in an onion salad because you sometimes do need a little something to cut through all that rice. However, my friends, once I placed my order, that is where the good times stopped rolling. I showed up at 8:15 for my 8:20 ETA pickup and was immediately told that was wrong and that they needed another 30 minutes. All in all, it took me 50 minutes to pickup the food from order to when I left the restaurant for a place that is a mile away from my house. Once I came home, now with sky-hunger expectations due to the wait, I was really disappointed. The Shrimp Biryani had a handful of shrimp on top and basically was otherwise a tub of rice. Though the shrimp had flavor, each piece was in varying states of prep with some being cleaned while others had shell or tail or both. I know Biryani is a rice dish but I would of loved to have some other bits and bobs in the Biryani to break up paying basically $20 for some fluffed spiced rice. The onion salad? Let's just say truth in advertising doesn't live here. The menu photo suggested something bright and layered. What I got was $3 worth of plain sliced onions and a lemon wedge. Call it what it is--or better yet, don't bother. Looks like the next time I flying solo, I will be finding some other haunt for some Indian food in Monmouth County.
