I will admit, I was disappointed in the duck tacos because they were not extraordinarily different than a good classic Chinese or Asian restaurant's restaurants duck appetizer. The duck was good and the presentation was beautiful but it wasn't awesome like the rest of the meal so I suggest making a different choice. Our entrees were all perfection. This was our first time at Aarzu, and it was fantastic! We started with two orders of Naan with channa masala hummus that was extremely tasty. For our mains we chose Lamb Roganjosh (Braised lamb, caramelized onions and cardamom), Ghee Roast Chicken Curry and Channa Masala (Smoked garbanzo beans, cumin and garam masala). In addition we also ordered some bread filled with onions (Onion Kulcha). Everything was terrific! We finished with a chai tea that was very tasty. Went into this was low expectations as my family typically doesn't like fine dining indian restaurants but this was surprisingly good! We got the beetroot tikki, Bhatti ka paneer, and anjeer kofta which were all amazing. It is on the pricier side for Indian food but quality and presentation wise, you get your money's worth. Anjeer kofta was a nice change of pace from the traditional malai kofta and paired really nicely with the spicier paneer. We opted out of dessert which we immediately regretted because they all looked amazing but will definitely be back to try them soon. But here, both the beetroot tiki and the tandoori octopus took me by surprise--so of course, I had to try them both! Probably one of the most delicious Indian restaurants I've ever been to. People rave a lot about Indian food in the UK but Aarzu really puts the US on the map for Indian fine dining. Really wanted to love Aarzu after finally getting to try it but was left merely satisfied. Food is not bad, but you can definitely get something tastier and cheaper somewhere nearby. Portions are quite small for the price. I also wish that there was more on the menu, but the non-vegetarian dishes were a total hit. The basil chicken tikka and lamb dish were devoured quickly. I really enjoyed the palak chaat though, it was a tasty bite and a great appetizer. Probably my favorite dish at Aarzu. I'm glad I tried it for the experience but don't think I will be returning. When we dined here, there were not many parties in the restaurant at all & our waiter seemed to forget multiple things at different times. This is not really a big deal, but at a certain point we were the only ones in the restaurant and still not being attended to while the staff stood nearby talking. There is definitely a nice ambiance in the restaurant. Could host a nice dinner or event here, and the plating of all dishes was spectacular. As far as food, it was good, but did not blow me away on any level. Although a bit too dimly lit for my dining enjoyment, the restaurant layout, decor and overall style was far above most Indian restaurants. The service was very attentive, personable and proper akin to true 5 star restaurants. We ordered the Calcutta Gobi Manchurian for appetizer. It was our least favorite item. It was a bit on the salty side and not crispy. For dinner we went with the Bhoorani Chicken, Palak Paneer, along with a naan. Both items were really good. My family and I ordered palak chaat, calcutta gobhi manchurian, coconut chicken 65, and paneer papad roll for appetizers. Out of these, the coconut chicken 65 stood out the most- saucy and extremely well seasoned. I probably wouldn't get the palak chaat again since it was on the drier side. For the main course, I ordered the butter chicken. The smokey tomato sauce was very tasty and not as sweet as usual butter chicken curries! Although we were very full after the main course, we ended up getting the dessert platter. Besides the orange rind kulfi (which was too bitter), I enjoyed all of the desserts.
