4/25/26. I really don't "do" the mall, but its cold and rainy and Indian cuisine is a major player in our comfort food repatuar. DD listed Royal Ganesha and the menu looked amazing. They have a buy 1 get 1 for the following, Tikka Masala & garlic Naan. I added 2 orders of samosas and 2 of the traditional rice. Winners!! Order was packed extremely well & was still very warm when received. We actually split the entrée and rice, so hubby has a whole lunch while I'm working tomorrow. Spices and warmth was fantastic, we loved the rice, fluffy and seasoned with clove, definitely my favorite and this rice just really complemented the entrée. Samosas were really a good size, I would order these to accompany a crisp salad, they are hearty, at least for me. I will definitely be ordering again through DD... or if in the area.. yes, I'd drive to the mall. read more

Went to this place just few mins before they close at 9 pm and the gentleman at the counter was kind enough to accommodate our food requests. They couldn't make the pizza for our kid since the oven was already shut. We ordered some samosas, dokla and combination meals. Honestly the food could definitely use some feedbacks - the samosas were high on fennel seeds and the rice lacked a bit of salt. My friend and I meet for dinner at Royal Ganesha on a Tuesday evening based solely on the Yelp reviews. The service was great. The interior has a wonderful vibe with communal table seating. Most importantly, all of our food was terrific. The menu is predominantly Punjabi Food (North India). Where else can you find Amritsari Fish or Punjabi Kadi Pakora on the menu!?! Being that my origins are from that area, I can firmly vouch for the taste and quality of the food we ate. We ordered Palak Paneer and Punjabi Kadi Pakora along with some plain naans. The food was very flavorful and delicious. We ordered medium spicy. If you can't handle spice, I would recommend going for mild. The medium had a nice punch to it. My only negative would be that the Mango Lassi, I ordered, should have been served in a large glass. Because it was good! I plan to come back again and bring my mom and dad next time. We decided to come here for a quick dinner. This place originally had a restaurant of its own. It recently moved to the food court. It's kind of like cafeteria style where you pick what you want and they scoop it for you. We ordered Royal Platter, which comes with yellow rice, noodles, palak paneer, chicken tikka masala, with half an egg roll. I didn't like this at all. We came here for an early dinner and you'd think that everything would be piping hot and supply would be plentiful. Instead, it looked like they were closing for the night and didn't bother replenishing. The rice and noodles were cold and hard. We thought a whole egg roll would come along with it but they cut the egg roll in half. I guess business must be affected for them to give such paltry portions. We also ordered a Mixed vegetable pizza. That took about 15-20 minutes and is the best item of the night. So, for those who decide to give this place a try, order the pizza because they make that fresh. Everything else is cold and hard. By the way, this place isn't temporarily closed as stated on Yelp. The restaurant is closed and another restaurant is supposed to be replacing them. They are in the food court. Don't think we'll be returning. I'd be surprised if they stick around in 6 months. read more

Great Indian food. As good as it gets away from Islen, JC or Jackson Heights - where you find the most authentic cuisine. They have all the usual Indian fare and the taste of each dish is amazing. Butter chicken, tandoori or vegetable dishes, the chefs add just the right amount of spice to make it feel like a high end place from the city. Only problem is the SEATING arrangements. This location use to the the old Bob's Burger Palace. It didn't make it through the Covid years due to the greasy and poor layout similar to a dinner. The layout is still the same and doesn't fit right with the Indian food place. It's a great place for parties of 4. Or a massive family party, but any party larger than 4 doesn't fit. No chairs are movable, as each one is cemented to the floor (left over of the BBP). Other than this, great food. Give it a try. Worth the money... sadly I expect this place may not last too long as the mall rent is expensive and I just don't see too many people turning through there based on the seating. read more

Just brought my husband here. It took over Bobby Flays burger place. We walked in and was greeted nicely and seated fast. Decor is nice. A lot of reds, yellow, and orange. I enjoyed the group style seating. They also have bar style seating which I thought was cool. So with that being said, I appreciate the owners not taking these out because they were originally seating from the old restaurant. We came here at 12 and you can either go for their buffet or order from the menu. We opted for the buffet. From what I remember They offered spring rolls, basmati rice, veg byriani, paneer tikka, chicken tikka Marsala, chicken karahi, paprika chaat. There 2 other dishes but I totally forgot what they were. They also had soup, fruit, and rice pudding. They gave us naan which was on the house. And with the buffet you can get soda. The food was great. It was a great introduction for my husband since he's never had Indian food before. The spices were good and nothing was overly spicy. All dishes were reasonably priced! I would suggest this to anyone. We are definitely going back. read more

Brand new BYOB Indian restaurant next to cheesecake factory in freedom raceway Mall. Decorations are really good and the place looks very elegant. I was promptly greeted and seated as soon as I arrived and they give you a bottle of tap water to accompany your meal. I asked for a couple of appetizers, they were both cooked fresh which means is not quick, but is tasty and fresh. Flavors were right on point. Word of caution, they didn't ask for spicy level and the food packed a punch. For me is not an issue but it may be for people intolerant to spicy food. Ah, Bobby's Burger Palace with the most average burgers I've ever had has been replaced by an Indian restaurant. There's a certain trend here as more openings at malls mean that larger businesses are out paving way for local businesses to move in. I wasn't really sure what to expect: do I hold Royal Ganesha to mall standards, or Indian restaurant standards? Thankfully it's the latter, as Royal Ganesha easily competes with the upscale Aarzu in downtown Freehold. In fact, I may even recommend it over Aarzu but both have their merits. I have to admit that the waitstaff coming over and asking me which delicacies I was looking for made me want to try more of a delicacy rather than a Butter Chicken per se, even if it may have just been a slight language barrier. Thus I went with the Lamb Vindaloo, extra spicy of course. Now my issue with ordering spicy food is that many restaurants will hold back on the spice level, perhaps assuming that patrons can't handle it. I'm happy to report that this wasn't the case here, as the dish was a level of spice that turned my face red--which I of course enjoyed. I was actually proud of myself at the end when they told me that they had made it 'Indian spicy' the exact way they would make it for an Indian with a proper spice tolerance and told me to ask for that next time I come. I tend to order 'Thai spicy' and end up skeptical whether they went all-in on spice at Thai restaurants, so this was welcome. The chili garlic butter naan was also excellent, with a perfect amount of crisp and generous seasoning. This was more flavorful than Aarzu, and the spice level on both items was also higher. My only slight complaint is that I was drawn in by a menu that offered a weekday special that included naan and other items for $19.99, only to find out it was removed. However, this was fine as the portion of nicely roasted lamb matched the $21.99 price point which I wasn't expecting given the location. In fact, the bill was $42 with tax and tip which isn't bad for the amount of food and quality of 'delicacies'. I do want to try the lunch buffet, which sounds like a great value ranging from $15.99-$19.99. It's rare that I'm up and hungry enough at this hour, but I find myself in the area quite often so I can foresee myself coming back for it. They had a surprising amount of proteins being prepared for the next day's buffet, and it's getting more rare to see an Indian restaurant with a buffet especially every day of the week that they're open. Royal Ganesha is a contender for the best Indian restaurant in the area, creating an impressive showing at an independent mall location. read more

It always breaks my heart when I come here for dinner and this amazing restaurant is empty. They have a wonderful lunch buffet, but I also have to rave about their dinner service. I always get the chicken pizza as an appetizer, truly incredible. My girlfriend usually gets the butter chicken entrée and I've had some variations on the goat and lamb offerings and have never been disappointed. The service is always excellent. read more

We went to this recently opened Indian Restaurant in freehold raceway mall next to Cheesecake Factory. It's right where the old Bobby's Burger Palace used to be. Decor is blend of modern and ethnic Indian .. little offbeat for a traditional Indian restaurant but I must tell you food is what will get you happy here. High quality food at affordable price! All the food we had today was delicious and well balanced. The service was quick and attentive. We began with panipuri and samosa chat followed by mixed veg biryani, paneer tikka masala, and garlic naan. Every dish was exceptionally delicious, cooked to perfection with just the right level of spiciness. Every dish stood on its own and the seasoning and spice was great. We noticed they do offer lunch buffet from 12-3pm. We will plan to stop during lunch time to check them out again in near future. read more

Yay for the second Indian restaurant in freehold! We came on a Thursday evening, and it was relatively empty, save for a few groups of seemingly Indian people, which we took as a possibly good sign. The seating is uncomfortable. The chairs are bolted into the ground and the table aren't moveable. I really don't like them. The service was friendly and quick. We started off with the samosas, which were hot and good with the accompanying sauce. We got the wings, which I wouldn't recommend. They were a bit mushy and very bland, also super small. I dipped mine into the tikka masala sauce. The tikka masala was good, though. The roti was a bit crispier than I'm used to. We ordered everything medium, as a review stated that everything was super spicy and they weren't given an option on spice level, but medium was far from spicy. Their menu is limited but it's good as a local spot when you just want some takeout! read more

Located within the old Bobby's burger palace is a new Indian restaurant the Royal Ganesh. We decided to visit this new establishment after a long day shopping. We have eaten in other Indian restaurants and enjoy Indian food. If you have ever eaten at this restaurant when it was Bobby's burger palace the table arrangement is similar to a luncheonette style dining. You sit on long tables in swivel seats next to each other. A friendly type seating but not conducive to private dinning, more fast food, buffet style eating. I will just say that I understand that this is a new establishment and kinks must be worked out of the system. That being said we sat down and literally waited 30 minutes to be seen by our waiter. No silverware, no dishes, no glasses, no place setting. In addition we were given take out menus to order from and not regular menus. We found this odd since everyone else had regular menus. That aside it took another 30 minutes to get 1 dish that we ordered. I might add that the restaurant was practically empty with 3-4 other group of people. The waiter eventually took our order but refused to take our meal order because he had to follow steps and the drinks is the first step, then we can order the food, unfortunately he took a while to return to even take our food order. Our waiter was quite rude and very condescending when he spoke to us. He was also annoyed that I asked for ice for my warm soda and warm water. I overheard him taking orders from the family next to us who asked if the food was spicy, he replied "your in America, it's American spicy" needless to say it was an Asian family. I found that quite disturbing to say the least. The food that we did receive was Tandoori malai tikka which wasn't bad it was actually good. The food was not our complaint however portions were quite small for $20 dollar dishes. We saw the manager Harry once and then he disappeared completely oblivious to what was going on. My suggestion is to buy the takeout and avoid the sit down dine in experience. The ambiance is not impressive but the food might satisfy your tastes. read more

Good Indian food is difficult to find in our immediate area and once we found Royal Ganesha, we were sold...it was the real deal! We have been eating here since they opened their stand alone restaurant next to the Cheesecake Factory. When I found out they were relocating to the mall's food court I was a little disappointed because I assumed that the choice of entrees were obviously not going to be as extensive as what was on the restaurant menu. That being said, the other day we discovered that the full restaurant menu still exists online and is available for take out! We ordered the goat biryani, goat vindaloo, butter chicken and some samosas, and it was every bit as delicious as what we had gotten in the stand alone restaurant! Portions were incredibly generous as well. Currently the website says to go to where the restaurant used to be for pick up, but that is not correct. Just go to their kiosk in the food court to pick up your order. If you are craving delicious Indian food, this is the place to go! Popped in here from the mall to have a weekend buffet. This is located right next to the Cheesecake Factory and as other Yelpers have noted, it has retained the previous burger joints' fixed swivel stool seating and curved bar-style seating. And while that worked for a burger place and will work for a hotdog or falafel place too, it didn't quite work for an Indian buffet spread and one could visualize how totally awkward and inconvenient it would be to pull off a family meal with this type of configuration. (Although it had to be noted that there were regular tables but they probably require reservations.) But seating aside, the food itself was nothing to rave about. The tandoori chicken was bland (and lukewarm). 3 vegetarian items - yellow dal, potatoes, and vegetable jalfrezi were too basic to warrant more than a sampling. The paneer did stand out and was a notch above most other places. And they do bring fresh naan's/bread to the table! The meat items were all chicken - a home-style version; the standard makhini version were the two sauce ones and then there was a biryani. All 3 were a little sub-par. And then there were a couple of apps - veggie pakoras - a mix version and a cauliflower one that was more batter than anything else. And a pau bhaji. Par for the course. A couple of regular gulab jamuns and rice pudding desserts rounded things off (and I did forget there was sweet regular lassi). Nothing that makes it compelling. Finally, the service - this one was interesting - there was an intense East-European looking manager who seemed fairly abrasive in his interactions and clearly was discomforting other customers and left us feeling a little uncomfortable with his encroachment into personal space. Not only was the service great, but the food was exemplary. The chicken biryani was one of the best we've had, and the butter chicken was even more delicious. So delicious that we had the kitchen prepare one more after it closed, we hardly ever do that. The garlic naan was soft and full of garlic, an aspect where many restaurants fall short; it felt as if you were biting into a cloud, and it looked as such too. When you dip the naan in the butter chicken, you get a combination alike any other. We were the last people in the restaurant, and the staff were nothing but sweet and understanding to us, despite us keeping them in the restaurant. Just had dinner at this place. The seating s not going to work for Indian food. Trust me Indian food requires lot more loving, private n cozy environment. Our first order vege pokora appe was just alright. Not a typical mixed pokora. Ordered two meat items - lamb Rohan Josh wasn't actually a Rogan Josh recipe. Please have the cook check with other reputable restaurants. Don't just put any pre-made gravy n call it Rogan Josh. We are food experts and we , Indians know what Rogan Josh is. Same with Chicken Vindaloo. Please use the vindaloo recipe. The food amount is very small for the price. The garlic naan is quite small compared to other standard restaurants.
