I just came for my holiday meal here while the rest of the family was eating turkey, and while the place was nice and the service was attentive I left unimpressed with my Thali. It was meh- not awful, just not really really good. I asked for South Indian and received the usual sambar, rasam, (both were unbalanced with same exact flavor profile too much coriander) and that was the end of the South Indian meal- Tarka dal, which is always a favorite but nothing out of the ordinary, potatoes and paneer tikka. The second rice didn't taste like tamarind rice which is my favorite- but I suppose was some kind of biryani. After reading the reviews, we wanted to give this place a try. We've been to the North Brunswick location and liked that place. We were immediately seated after arriving and ordered the following: Gunpowder dosa, which are spicy milage pods dosa with potatoes and onion. There was a nice kick of spices to it. We thought that the dosa was nicely done, crispy at the end and soft in the middle. Would definitely recommend. Chili garlic noodles- We liked this entree as well. Hubs wasn't sure why they gave us ketchup. Hubs ordered a Diet Coke and was surprised to get an Aldi's diet soda.. This soda did the trick to extinguish the spiciness. LOL. Our first time at this location and 100% recommend it. Good varieties of dosas and options to customize as per your taste. Everything we ordered was served fresh and in less than 15 minutes. Really really really good! We are a big fan of dosas. And this was something we found on a whim after visiting the local temple. Here's what we ended up getting. Masala Dosa: great, very crispy crepe. Feeling was also very good but not very spicy. This came with a coconut chutney which was very tasty as well as a tomato chutney which was also very good. Sambar: very good wish it had drumsticks in it but can't ask for everything but had a very spicy and flavorful broth. Dal vada: excellent Bhojia: excellent these sauce that it came with the coconut chutney, was really really tasty Ambiance is pretty sparse. Bathroom is clean. Service was very prompt no issues This is a very family friendly restaurant so expect a lot of screaming children and loud talking. They don't really have much of a waiting area so we were seated close to the door and there's a lot of draft coming from the outside as well as the noise. If these things bother you and you probably won't enjoy this dining experience. Parking free and in a parking lot. Worked with Dheeraj from this location and everything was easy to coordinate. When our friend went to pick up the food, the folks at the restaurant were nice to help bring it to the car. First time trying Dosa and the staff was very helpful. They recommended I try the Mumbai Street Dosa, and it did not disappoint. Contrary to what many others have said in their reviews, the staff checked in on me regularly and was very kind. Don't forget to eat with your hands and dip the Dosa into the Lentil Soup. The soup was so delicious, and had just enough spice. The Mango Lassi was also very yummy, and the perfect balance between sweet and sour, the perfect compliment to the salty and spicy Dosa. Dosa Grill was an Indian place that I found on my way back from Downtown Princeton. I needed good, authentic Indian food in a simple setting because I was just on my own, traveling home. For that, it served its purpose well, even though it was required to get table service. I think this place should be fast casual or more of a take-out set up. The waiter was very polite, but he had trouble communicating in a way I could understand. I asked for some suggestions but did not get them. While I wanted an authentic place, and while I was looking for something simple and easy, I still might expect some more accessibility. The dish I ordered was vegetarian, which I often order at Indian places, but it had no protein source. The sauce, however, was delicious. I asked for medium spicy and got that. A lot of my observations need to be taken with a grain of salt because someone who is a lot more familiar with all the dishes would have no problem. The prices were reasonable, and parking was easy. I love the dose of grill and I go there regularly for my daily vittles. I just buy that Rasam soup and dump it on my veggies and it makes everything taste amazing. Seriously I'm dumping raw vegetables in a pot and adding Rasam. It's bleeping amazing. I like to throw in some of the Samosa chaat as well. Not the samosas, the samosa chaat. They have awesome dosas too - I'm obsessed with the spring dosa; basically sautéed veggies with masala potatoes, and of course the Sambar and chutneys. I would try their other ones if I could break out of my routine, but I'm a sucker for my favorites, and I like to be a regular at the Local spicy Spots. I don't know why my phone wants to capitalize that but there we go. Not too impressed by this place. Would much rather go to sarvana bhavan in Edison or nyc. We were in that area and decided to stop by this place for dosa. We ordered Mumbai street dosa and Mysore cheese masala dosa. The Mumbai street dosa was tolerable but the Mysore dosa lacked flavor for me. We also ordered medu vada which was not well fried and very raw from inside. The place got crowded real soon and is not organized well. There were so many ppl waiting for a table for sometime and after like half an hour they were told the kitchen is closed. read more

Okay this is not my favorite dosa spots but it does the job in satisfying a craving. The place is clean, the staff is friendly and the food is pretty darn good at a decent price. Most places have taken the liberty of increasing prices while this place has kept its prices without compromising portions or quality. We had a Mysore masala dosa, spring dosa and cauliflower 65. The potato filling for the dosa was flavorful and the sambar was tangy and spicy but not too spicy. The cauliflower 65 was nice and crispy although I am not a fan of the food coloring. The green chutney it was served with added a nice touch. This is sure to become one of my go to spots. read more

I wonder how they got 4.3 stars for the poor customer service that they care the least about amongst other factors. It's a vegetarian restaurant, and the concept sits well with the demographics. We had ordered a cheese cone dosa amongst other items for our toddler. We waited for 45 minutes, and there was no sign of the dosa. My starving toddler sat there patiently, and I followed numerous times with the staff, but every time, they said that the dosa was on its way. Eventually, after 40 minutes, they confessed that they messed up the order and delivered that dosa to some other table twice. They never delivered the buttermilk that I had ordered, and I was out of patience to follow up. The manager gave us a free dessert to compensate for the poor experience. What really annoyed me that they had little regret for their mistake and expressed that it was a usual experience . The quality of food was below average. I could taste the oil on one of the appetizers. Ambiance: Just average, good for family as it gets noisy and casual. You won't miss much in avoiding this restaurant. read more

I had Mumbai Street dosas with medium spice. As a non- Indian I'm not that used to spice so it was really hot for me! However it was really good! You will also get generous portions.
