Yesterday I stopped in just to browse. I would describe their style as more urban. I found this super cute short sleeved sweatshirt jacket that I liked, but I passed on it as I've already done a lot of damage this month. I wasn't even intending on buying some new jeans, but they had such a huge selection with such interesting brands (not just your done that True Religons which they don't even carry) that I was curious about fits. I found the perfect pair of jeans and walked out of the store with them. The staff is super helpful and definitely spent a lot of time with suggesting jeans (I didn't even have to pick them out)! I would give them 5 stars for service. AB Fits is the best. Of course it is expensive. But then again, when it comes to clothing, it is all about cost per wear. (Cheap is really what becomes expensive when you think about it. If you only wear something once, now that is a shitty feeling.) And when you buy something from Howard, you wear it for years. It is timeless and it is classic, with a modern edge. Their stuff is still what I go for when wanting to get dressed effortlessly. And the staff is so honest. They will tell me when something does not work on my body. Err booty. Especially denim. I bought my first pair of designer jeans at AB Fits in Union Square two years ago and have never bought them anywhere else. On that fateful visit I walked in and said I was looking for jeans, no idea on wash, fit, cut, nothing, at which point they looked at my waist, at my hips, pulled out four pairs of pants and sent me into the dressing room where EVERY ONE FIT. And not just, wow, I can get this over my ass fit, but like, made for me fit. With each pair I walked out and had a chat about the highlights (and lowlights) of the pants, which led to a second round of all-my-size hand picked jeans. I am now on my umpteenth pair of AB Fits jeans and continue to be wowed by the service. When my beloved J Brand skinny jeans busted their inseam I took them back to be repaired and wanted to pick up another pair, but was told that the store no longer carried them because "they just weren't putting the same kind of love into the jeans." Which was so true because they were the only pair I've had a problem with. So that's the jeans bit, the worst is that I finally tried on some of their clothes, and my Lord, have they set my wallet back! They carry interesting pieces by smaller labels, clearly carefully chosen, things you just don't see other places. And they're amazing. Did not expect to buy 2 pairs of jeans, but very happy I did! One of the only places I've found that sells raw denim jeans for women, this shop also hems/tailors in-store. Howard, one of the staff, gave me a grey pair to try on, and I was hesitant, but totally fell in love with them. Howard at any butt fits is seriously a denim wizard. I have been looking for a nice pair of jeans for 2+ years. Being in San Antonio Texas there aren't options for shopping like this. But talking with Howard for about 30 seconds he pulled a few pairs of jeans for me and showed me to a fitting room. I'm writing this review one year after purchasing jeans from ABFits, because some of the test of a good pair of jeans is ARE YOU WEARING THEM A YEAR LATER? These folks got my middle-aged petite body with a not so petite derriere into some Levi's Made and Crafted Empire Skinny Jeans that fit great, are totally flattering, and were worth every penny of the price I paid. Could I have found this jean online for less? Absolutely. Would I have had any idea that it was the right jean for me? No way. They worked with me, picked several styles out and were spot on in this choice. Hemmed them immediately too. I travel to SF at least once a year (from the E Coast) and plan on doing any future jean shopping here because it was a totally painless experience. This is THE spot for quality denim and the best customer service out there. They take the time to find the right pieces for you. There is no rush and no pressure to pick pieces that you're not comfortable with. They do custom tailoring which makes all the difference for shorty's like me. Their inventory is very high quality and the looks are classic but very on trend. Most of their items are made in the US or Japan and you are not going to find any sweat shop junk here, which means it's going to last you for a really long time. I always feel great when I leave this spot. New denim makes me feel good, I'm wearing my new Raleigh Surry's on right now because Howard said "try these". He always picks out the perfect items for me. He just looks at you and knows what will look good. He is gifted. I can't recommend AB enough. Go get a great pair on pants. Absolutely amazing experience! I very rarely give a review on anything, but A B Fits deserves to be known. I worked with Howard and Samantha to find a nice relaxed pair of workwear denim pants that I fell in love with on the spot! I have difficulty finding clothes that fit me well as I am a really tiny guy with a muscular/athletic build, so most clothes fit too loose in some places and too tight in others. However, as soon as I walked in a started looking around Howard was able to spot 3 fits and a beautiful hat that worked with my body and my personal style. Bottom line: these guys know quality. They appreciate and value the detail and craftsmanship of all their pieces as much as they are adept at recommending fits and styles that look and feel tailor-made to your size and shape. Several weeks ago, I bought two pairs of jeans at the North Beach location of AB Fits and I went back a second time to pick them up once they had been hemmed. My first visit there was a 'somewhat' enjoyable introduction to the world of 'gourmet' denim. Despite his cynical and rather bored demeanour, the salesman displayed a pretty impressive knowlege of jeans and how to wear them. He made a critical and mildly insulting remark about the jeans I was wearing as well as the shape of my body, but I tried not to focus on that as he seemed to be expertly marking off the hem on my new $200 jeans. He was 'almost' rude but overall, it was an okay experience. When I went to pick up the jeans, the saleswoman who was there completely erased any brief notion that this is a cool place. If I thought the other guy was rude....she might as well have said, 'Get your f*%!en jeans and get out of my way, I'm bored and busy being 'all that!' Once I tried the hemmed pants on so see how they fit, no one came over to check on me or ask how the jeans were...it was like, 'yeah so we got your money already so who gives a f*#! about you.' One pair of the jeans was hemmed too long and when I went to go mention it to her and ask for a bag (and a bit of service) she just turned her back to me and just started to fold some jeans. I felt totally dissed and just wanted to get out of there, so I just put my jeans in the bag myself, and she said "Oh yeah." (hello? I thought this was a store and you work here??) Talk about crappy service. Despite the rather decent selection of jeans, I won't ever go back to this AB Fits, because they are seriously lacking in basic manners and customer service. read more

I've had great luck at ABs...the couple times I've dropped some money there (a lot for me...denim is expensive!) the staff has gone way out of their way to help find jeans that work for me. I am odd to size for because of certain work related constraints (crap I have to carry)...they were cool with helping me find jeans that worked out great. My only problem is the prices...not really up to them as most of what they carry is going to be $$$ where ever you get it. read more

Coolest shop with owner Howard. He knows his jeans! I go here for jeans and my sweaters. There is a cool old lady dog that seems to fit just right with the shop, and some good looking staffers. They have both mens and womens, though I havent shopped for womens stuff here because it is more androgneous for the womens look. Also, parking is super tough here so I can only stop by when I am in the neighborhood. That's north beach for ya! read more
