Five stars are not nearly enough. My best friend took me here as a birthday present, and it was the most fun, alcohol-free fun that I've had in a long time. To call these glamour shots is an understatement- they completely dress you, wig you, and do your makeup. I picked my wig, and the stylist made fantastic recommendations from there. After they dress you, they pose you for photos. We didn't have to come up with the poses, which was a big relief. The whole operation is inside an old house, and every room is decorated with adorable, photographable corners and backdrops. Also, everything in the shop is for sale: wigs, outfits, accessories... they keep a rotating supply of outfits, wigs, and designs. Many of the headpieces are even made by hand. Came here for a friend's bachelorette wig party and it was just a great time all around! Depending on the # of people in your group, it'll cost you around $30-$50 give or take + tip. For the wig parties, the event starts at 7:30 p.m., but they let you in at 7 p.m. if you need to setup food/drinks. In the front lounge room, there's a large buffet table, a coffee table and bar area. I used up every single surface and I had an extra bucket to keep wine and other drinks cold. They usually do 2-3 girls at a time. Pick your choice of wig (there are ones that come with your basic set, but if you want a more expensive wig, you just pay the difference). There are so many wigs! Colorful ones to simple blonde ones. After you don your wig, you head over to makeup. You can purchase lashes to dress up the makeup -- which I highly recommend! It really does bring the whole look together. Once you're done, hang out, take lots of pics and just have a good old time. The service was great and everyone was there to help you have a good time. I came here on a Friday night for my friend's bachelorette Coco Wig Party. It was one of the most memorable experiences I had during my time in Austin :) The Coco Wig Party lasts for 2-3 hours, each guest goes home with a wig and has a chance to get their makeup done by a makeup artist. There is a huge selection of wigs, some of the wigs are not included in the wig party and you will have to pay extra if you choose one of them. The owner of the shop made the experience so fun, she spends time with each guest to help you put on the wig securely. You even get a free wig cap! After you select your wig, there is a makeup artist to help tie your look altogether. We all felt beautiful and amazing! This shop is amazing! 8 girls were flying into Austin for my friends's bachelorette party so what better way to make the bride feel crazy and gorgeous at the same time than at a wig party! Coco Croquette lets you host a wig party after hours which starts at 730pm. You get about 2 hours with the shop to yourselves with the "wig whisperer." This whole party was made possible because of the fabulous Anna Marie who I had to contact several times due to date/time and headcount changes. She was super accommodating on the phone and was fun to hang out with at the shop! We were allowed to bring food/drink and set up the main room of the shop like a party. I simply loved my experience here, what a unique place!! I came here to buy a wig to wear in Las Vegas, and there are so many beautiful options it was hard to decide! The selection is vast, and the prices seemed very competitive for the quality based on the small amount of research I did prior to my visit. Can I give 10 stars? I visited this past weekend and the best way I could describe this place is, it is beyond magical. Personally, I was looking to transport myself to a different world for a couple hours and had a lot of fun getting my makeup done, trying on different costumes and wigs, and then being photographed in costume. No strip clubs, no shopping for 'marital aids', no running around on sixth street. The bride herself found this place. I'd never heard of it. It's a vintage clothing, hair salon, wig shop, jewelry store, makeup salon...I'll just say it's a lot of fun alternative style girly things fit into a cute little house down the street from Weather Up (a nice place to visit in your new wig). Group parties are pretty simple: different prices depending on the number of people. You can bring food and drinks and set up the party in the salon room then they take two people at a time to try on wigs and get their makeup done. The party includes a choice of wigs - a limited number of them (which are still great) are free with the package price or you can pick out another wig with the price of the party wig deducted. They're really nice about letting you try on different wigs if you keep changing your mind. Their are all kinds of interesting fake eyelashes you can buy and have the makeup lady put on you. What a super fun place! My friend had her birthday party here and it was such a blast. Prices are reasonable for the entire event. Staff was beyond welcoming, so nice, and so helpful. They have a great selection of the wigs that are included in the price. I didn't feel like I needed to use the credit we got and upgrade to a more expensive wig, though there were some that I had my eye on. I loved how they did my makeup, you can let them know what you like, or they will do something awesome for you. We paid extra for lashes - always fun, but you will still look great if you don't want to add lashes. We took some fun pictures with their backdrops and some on the porch also. Yet another visit to CoCo Coquette that was even better than the last! Allison is so patient and is really one of the most pleasant business owners I've had the pleasure to work with. Brought my Head Mixologist down here to get some wigs for our period themed club that's opening soon; she walked in knowing nothing about wigs, but soon was like a kid in a candy store. In addition to the wigs there really are a fun array of delights like jewellery, hair flowers, 1920's embellishments, headdresses, and make up. Oh yeah-- and the most bad ass reusable eyelashes I've ever seen in my damn life. Allison also can cut, trim, or customize your wig and she does not charge me additionally to make small changes which is SO wonderful. I really wanted to love this place, considering the amazing reviews, and I loved the concept, but I did not have the experience I was hoping for here. I came here for a birthday party with some friends during the evening. The shop is adorable, and it is BYOB and you can bring snacks too. Fun! The biggest problem for me was the makeup. If you are someone that considers yourself to be good at makeup, I would save your money and not go here. I was really upset with how my makeup turned out the first time, and that with the combination of the wig, I just felt soooo ugly! And all of my friends were turning out so well. I asked if I could switch my wig and was told no (because I got a wig with a lace insert - understandable) but they offered to give me to a different makeup artist so she could fix it. I told her what I wanted to have fixed... The eyeliner being the biggest issue... And was told she didn't have enough time to remove it. So she added some more gold eyeshadow to open up my eyes a bit more, but didn't address my concerns at all. When I went to pay, I was asked if I was happy with having my makeup fixed and I said honestly, no. The eyeliner is so so bad! And then was told "We'd love it if you would let us make it right", was sent back to the makeup room with makeup remover so I could go remove the eye makeup (which is one of the reasons why you come here in the first place). Back to square one I went. I literally went home, washed off the rest of my makeup, did it my way, and ditched my wig. If I had known it would turn out so bad I would have saved my time and money and not gone here. So now I'm stuck with this heinous wig and I'm out $100. I've never left an experience like this feeling so ugly. And I never write reviews, but I can't justify spending $100 to feel horrible about yourself. I was really, really upset with this experience, and did not feel as if it was properly remedied. I won't recommend this place to my friends and won't be returning. read more

I normally frequent places like Big Joy and Quarter to Ten, but I decided to stop in here based on 14 glowing reviews on Yelp. The shop is a converted house-to-business and has an atmosphere that is even a little more whimsical than your typical 'vintage resale' shop. It reads kind of like a museum for great fashion finds (if you're young), or 'wow it's been a while since I've seen acid washed jeans' (if you're my age). The displays are furniture with carefully placed vintage items in the front two rooms, a salon on the right, and a wig and makeup room in the back. I went straight for the wigs and found the staff really helpful with explaining their stock. When it came time to try one on, they supplied the wig cap (no charge), and had me sit in front of a vanity while they put the wig on me. They offered to cut the bangs as well. This personal service creates a warm atmosphere. I know a lot of folks get the hipster-phobia in places like these...or the feeling that you're being ostracized because you're not a hipster, but that is not the case here. I was made to feel very welcome. I purchased a 50$ wig. The price is a little higher than the competitors, but the wigs are also better quality. I noticed a few from the "Forever Young" brand, which are geared toward fashionable cuts and color. They also do away with the ugly clear plastic wig bag and re-package your wig in a charming gold foil box suitable for storage. One other advantage is that they carry wigs with a pink skin-top. Coco Coquette is everything you love about *ahem* some other costume/accessory shops in town, but without all the stripper shit, and lame costume hoohah fresh off the sweatshop floor in some dreary third-world locale. No, CC has wigs to die for, lovingly customized by an incredible talent, Miss Allyson. It has the finest in eyelashes, hair adornments, and the sort of cosmetics and frippery that would make any diva swoon. The shop is gorgeous and human-scale, boasts exquisite locally produced goods, and Allyson makes you feel wonderfully at home. A friend organized a Bachelorette party for our friend getting married at the end of May. When she finally told us what she planned I was excited. When the day finally came and we were in the Coco Coquette studio I was beyond stoked! Literally I was losing my mind! I couldn't want to get started! We had an orientation as group in the wig room where the explained the process. We got to try on max 3 wigs, move the make up where they only do your eyes and put on lashes if you so choose for an extra fee and then a mini photo shoot. There are a few wigs included in the wig party however you can upgrade others if you would like. You have up to a $30 credit you can use and then pay the remaining. For make up you go in with your foundation ready to go and they focus on your eyes. You can opt for some amazing false lashes and come on why would you pass it up when you're wearing a fabulous wig! For give me I forgot my make up artists name but she was adorable and did a great job! Lastly we added a photo booth so we had a photographer that did mini photo shoots with all of us and then we did a group photo. While we all took turns getting made up we enjoyed all the yummy foods and booze that we brought in. The party organizer of our group ordered pizza from Eastside pies and they were delivered to us. You can even bring in your own music to play. I created a playlist on Spotify and brought my iPad in for the jams. We had SOOO MUCH fun! I would do this again hands down for another occasion. We had a wig party here for my friend's bachelorette party. Based on the pictures online, it seemed like it would be a blast, but this honestly exceeded my expectations. Everyone working were so great to work with and really took their time to make sure you were happy with your final look. We catered Fresa's for tacos (delicious), and brought prosecco, vodka, with mixers. The set up was great and we were able to keep things in the fridge in the back. We also hired a photographer, which I HIGHLY recommend. It's such a great time for everyone, having a photographer allows you to not worry about pictures and just enjoy yourself. read more
