Mezza Platte. Ohhhkkkkkay. No, not good. Tiny portion also.

Horrible round two. Regretful. Spent 65.00. Ugh. Two chicken shawarma plates. Omg. Zero flavor. And chicken dryyyyyy. Like jerky dry. No sauce at all. The "tzatziki" was watery and tart. So gross. Rice was undercooked. And plain. No seasoning. The mezza plate was a Joke and ripoff. Again. No flavor. Tiny portion. I will eat LOTS of things that are meh. This, I cannot. Won't be back. Oof

This was our 2nd time to this wonderful restaurant. We really wanted to have the lamb chops again. And it did not disappoint. We polished off most of the food with just a bit of rice and salad leftover. If we want lamb...this will be our go to spot now.

This was a great place for an informal dinner. The price was also reasonable for three adults. We sat in the back dining room, and while nice a clean, it could use a bit more decor. Our service was competent and friendly. All of the dishes were nicely prepared and appealing to the eye. We all really enjoyed the spices in the dishes. I got two pieces of baklava to go, being homemade by the owners on premises. It was wonderful, tender, and not soaked in honey like most. All in all a great experience! Kudos!

I have wanted to try this place for a while and finally got the chance. Love the fact there is a lot of parking. Don't fear if you see the front seating full from the window more in the back. The customer service was amazing. The owners seemed really passionate about great service and food. I had the Tikka chicken which was a huge plate and my partner had the sharwma lamb. I would definitely recommend the hot it just adds a nice heat to the dishes. Spices were well balanced and the salad that came with was fresh not just out of a premade vat. Finished up with the baclava which was nicely balanced nuts to Phyllo dough and not soggy. I only wish I would have tried earlier:( Also they are going to start serving traditional breakfast which is something that sounded really good!

This family run business just south of the Clark County courthouse on 11th St.in downtown Vancouver is a hidden gem. All the food is scratch made from their family recipes. The food and service were both outstanding. The best Middle Eastern food I've ever tasted and some things I've never heard of that are unique to them. The cardamom tea was fabulous. My favorites from the mixed plate were the lamb chops and the chicken Shawarma.

We ordered the mezza platter with hummus, baba ghanoush, and falafel, and the shawarma plate with beef. I was too hungry and forgot to take a picture of the mezza platter. The falafel was crisp and moist in the inside. I'm not sure what the pink stuff is sprinkled on top maybe rose petals? My first bite was a weird bitter flavor but after that every bite was exploding with garlic deliciousness. The shawarma plate had two different types of rice, with a salad, and tzatziki. Perfectly marinated beef with strong notes of cardamom, garlic, and coriander. Baklava was amazing! It had a nice crunch but was soft and juicy. The pistachios are crumbly and perfectly sweetened. Sometimes restaurants glaze them too much, but these were just right!

Authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. I enjoyed the cultural ambience as they played quiet music in the background.

Baba Ghanouge, pita, Falahi Fries, Shawarma Wrap (lamb) *I replated this at home, they do not all come together!!*

I loved this dinner! I had a takeout order - I got the Baba Ghanouge, pita, Falahi Fries, and Shawarma Wrap (lamb). All were delicious and I will definitely go again. Because I got takeout I can't speak for the service but they were timely and sweet when I picked up! I'd suggest sitting in so the food can be extra hot/fresh - it travels okay, but I think it'll be best in person. I also didn't know they had baklava, I'll definitely try it next time!

    Magnatiles for the win!

We were able to try a wide variety of dishes, and every single one was exceptional. I have dietary restrictions (no onions or garlic), and the kitchen and staff were incredibly accommodating. They prepared separate versions of several dishes for me without hesitation, and I never felt like I was getting a lesser experience. It's rare to find a restaurant that can accommodate food sensitivities so thoughtfully while still delivering incredible flavor. The food was absolutely delicious from start to finish, and the service was impeccable. The staff was warm, attentive, and made our birthday celebration feel special without ever being overbearing. Everyone in our group left talking about how amazing the food was. We couldn't have asked for a better meal or a better overall experience. Mediterranean Exploration Company has definitely earned a spot on our list of favorite Portland restaurants, and we can't wait to come back.

We weren't too hungry and ordered 3 dishes to share - the hamachi crudo, baked feta with Blackberries, and braised Greek greens. The service was pretty fast, we received our food within 15 mins. The hamachi crudo was tasty with fresh fish that balanced well with the yummy smoked eggplant, tamarind soy, black harissa mayo, and crispy ginger. The baked feta was the heartiest dish, it came out with piping hot pitas to dip into the creamy savory/sweet feta and blackberries. The braised Greek greens felt like the most basic dish out of the 3, collard greens cooked with a lemon/olive oil finish, which tasted as described but not exciting enough to order again. Just as the name implies, this restaurant is a nice way to try Mediterranean dishes for those who don't eat it often. Admittedly, the cuisine isn't in our top favorites, but all the dishes were executed well, true to their description, and made for some fun bites.

Reviewing the menu, there were lots of yummy things to choose from but ultimately we both could not resist the Lamb shank. I'm sad I didn't take a picture of it. It was so tender and delicious. It came with perfect Basmati rice and a side of eggplant stew that was exquisite! I've never had eggplant stew and it was luscious. I dream to about it all night long. It was quiet, comfortable, music was great; songs we all know but with native instruments and flare. We had house red wine - not a big selection of alcohol, which is fine the food is and should be the star. Our sever (Sorry my old lady brain forgot his name) but the good looking bald guy(LOL) was nice and personable. It was such a great low key dining experience that just made the day even better. I highly recommend this cute place and we will be back- there are a lot more wonderful food to try!

My first impression as we entered here was: the AC was on, and I'm not ready for AC (yet), and the inside was too elegant, and empty. We waited awhile, when a staff appeared. We picked a seat outside, where the weather was pleasant and shady. I needed badly, to use the restroom, so I went back inside, only to be told it's outside. The mural on the walls, obscured the door to the restroom. But, there was no TP, no paper towel, and the trash was full. I had to use a toilet seat cover paper, for my TP, and went back to my seat, not happy with what I just did! I told my husband, who then told the staff, because HE need to use the restroom, too. (We've been gone all morning, this is now lunch hour). The staff gave water, menu and we ordered: The Lamb Shank. I love the eggplant stew! There's also a small salad with the Basmati rice. Also Chicken Kabob Mezza Platter with Pita bread. It was not until we're done eating, and ready to get up, did I notice there was cubed cucumber in the thaziki. But, it's got a very strong vinegar flavor, but I did like the hummus and the ghanoush. (When we eat at these places, we always pick the lamb shanks, btw). I had the other half, for my dinner tonight. The server was friendly, helpful and responsive. The atmosphere, was pleasant, and the photo taken of me, hubby thought I could pass as an Iraqi woman! LOL Thanks for the bag. We picked some crabapples, from down the street, there were 4-5 large trees ready for the pickin' from the sidewalk.
