Our home's previous owner had all of the flooring replaced before we purchased the house in 2021. He provided us with the Abbey Carpet & Floor receipt, and when we completed our final walkthrough, the floors looked beautiful. Unfortunately, after only six months, the flooring in our kitchen began peeling, bowing, and separating. Before long, the same issues started appearing throughout the house. We contacted Abbey Carpet, and multiple representatives came out to inspect the flooring. They confirmed there was no water damage and appeared to recognize that the installation had not been done correctly. I spoke with the manager, Gary, several times. During those conversations, he acknowledged that the installer (who I was told had since passed away) had installed the flooring without a vapor barrier at the previous homeowner's direction to save cost. However, the flooring manufacturer clearly states on the packaging that a vapor barrier is required and that the flooring should not be installed without it. He verbally attempted to me that they had installed it incorrectly. Despite acknowledging the issue, the only resolution offered was approximately 50 square feet of replacement flooring, with no labor included. That amount wouldn't even cover a single bedroom, let alone address the damage throughout the house. For months, I tried to work with the company, making phone calls and pleading for a fair resolution. Eventually, I sent a formal demand letter, but I never received a response. To make matters worse, I learned the company did not have the required CSLB bond coverage in place at the time of installation, leaving us with virtually no recourse. We are now facing approximately $16,000 in losses because the flooring was installed improperly. This has been an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience. We have small children, and the damaged flooring has created raised edges and separated planks that have caused them to trip and get hurt. I expected a company to stand behind its work, especially after acknowledging what went wrong. Instead, we are left to bear the full cost of correcting a preventable installation error. It's been 5 years and are still dealing with this. It's very disappointing. If I could give zero stars I would have to. That's how heartbreaking this has been for our family. To pay for our floors to be done again is a huge financial burden. read more

We used Abbey Carpet for our bathroom floor in 2017. Flash forward to 2022 and we decided to do most of the house because we were in between dogs and needed an upgrade from 1967. Levi was great with us, we did have an order error but he was able to correct it. Installation took 4.5 days and we worked out of our kitchen/family room! The end result was great! We love the hardwood floors. I know we had a bit of back and forth because my husband wasn't sure if the wide planks would work but it did! I was on a tight time crunch with my schedule and Travis went out of his way to install it and make sure it was done and all cleaned up with time to spare. I cannot recommend them enough! I love the carpet. BUT. I had a rug put over the carpet and under my bed in the master bedroom. They moved the bed afterwards to correct the placement and in the process, the rug did not follow. It was the next day the rug under the bed "bounced " back and then had two large bumps. To correct this, the bed would have to be moved. That entails taking my bed apart, fixing the rug, and putting the bed back together. Something I cannot do. I called Abbey and got the run around. Then after months, I was told there would be a $75 fee! Not acceptable! I have had two hip surgeries and now I have to be extra careful not to trip on the two big bumps from the rug. read more

The glowing reviews for these guys are dead on and they are absolutely the most professional contractors I've ever worked with. We refloored our entire house with Karndean looselay LVT which involved a fair amount of demo, refinishing the subfloor in some areas to make it super smooth, and adding underlayment to bring the old part of the house level with the newer part. To do this, Abbey brought a crew of five really nice guys who 1) clearly like working together, 2) exuded total competence and 3) were incredibly respectful and accommodating of us. Although they worked like demons, there were constant reminders that they clearly cared about doing a really good job. Some examples: 1) at one point Josh, the foreman, pulled me aside to point out that there was an area of the old subfloor that still squeaked a bit even though they put about 50 screws into it because he wanted me to know they did everything they could, 2) even though I hadn't asked or paid for it, they spent a ton of extra time getting the area around the front entry hall level (adding self- leveler to the low spots and sanding the high spots) because they thought it was important 3) I frequently heard the guys talking to the each other about how to make it look really good and 4) when they didn't know I was watching I saw how they selected each plank to make sure any repeating pattern wouldn't be jarring. Reflooring an entire house requires that every single thing sitting on the floor, beds, lamps, tables, chairs, appliances, toilets etc. is moved at least twice so the disruption is pretty intense. But Abbey did all this in a way that minimized that disruption as far as they could, always left the house in as manageable a state as they could every night, and finished in just 5 days just like they estimated. read more

We ordered our sheet vinyl flooring from them, and had them inatall as well. We got congoleum to replace some linoleum in the kitchen and the laundry. Mike and George showed up on time, taped paper over our counters and cabinets, plus made a plastic sheild to keep dust out of the house. Our floor was a bear to get up, but they did a great job - frequently vacuuming so no dust will spread. Then they leveled the cement a bit here and there, sealed cracks and applied sealant to the floor, then glue. The floor went in, base boards and appliances were moved back along with furniture and the process was repeated for the laundry room. Throutout the whole day the guys wete cheerful and friendly and fun to work with! They also thoroughly cleaned behind themselves and disappeared like constuction ninjas - no trace left behind! read more

Doesn't stand by their work. Six months after installing water proof flooring in a bathroom we noticed a bubble in the floor. We contacted Abbey they came out replaced something and then a month or two the bubble came back. They told us that water is getting in the seams and there is nothing they can do. That yes it is waterproof but we must doing something wrong. The other bathroom which is used way more often doesn't have a problem and the area that is bubbling isn't an area that gets significant exposure to water. Rather than coming out checking it out their solution is to tell us on the phone how we shouldnt let it get wet etc... read more

The install team Levi, Josh and his assistants did an outstanding installation job. We used them for the entry way and closet, downstairs family, dinning, bathroom, kitchen and laundry room. As well the stairway and upstairs hallway, a total of 1400 square feet of Waterproof Vinyl Stone Flooring. The install team arrived before 8:00 AM and worked non-stop until 5:00 PM every day until the job was finished in two weeks. They did a complete demo. Moved the furniture and piano, removed and re-installed the washer/dryer and bathroom toilet. I went to Abbey Carpet this summer to replace my "crusty" carpet & find a solution for my concrete floor. I worked extensively with the store manager Levi to select the right products and colors for my home. Levi took the time to explain various options to me, installation procedures, and come to my home to further advise me in making the right choice. I decided on a Karndean vinyl flooring product to cover the concrete because I needed something durable for kids and pets, and that would also not buckle if there happens to be any moisture seeping through the concrete floor. Levi loaned me samples to take home and see before I purchased. When the installation was complete, I was THRILLED! It looks fantastic, all my neighbors want the same thing, and most of my visitors can't believe it isn't real wood. The installation was very carefully done, which is why I went to a family run business instead of Lowe's in the first place, after hearing horror stories of poorly installed products. Satisfied with that job, I was completely at ease continuing with carpeting the second floor of my house through Abbey. Once again Levi was great in offering advice and carpet samples to help me with the decision making process. My house was not an easy install for carpet, lots of furniture to move and a whole wall of electronics and desks. Ben was the lead installer on this job, and I cannot find the seams! Thank you thank you thank you, Greg! My boyfriend and I rent. We also have two cats. One is going through his "terrible two's" and insists on waking me up at 4-5 every morning by pulling on the carpet. And I've noticed pieces of the carpet looking longer, or just falling out. Again, we are renting, and had a pretty high security deposit. After trying a few things to deter his early morning wake up calls and none of them working, we decided to try just laying normal carpet over our existing carpet. I found Abbey Carpet on Yelp. It's right down the street from us and a local business. We gave them a shot. We came in on a Sunday afternoon and were greeted by Greg. We told him our situation. We let him know carpet remnant was fine. He didn't try to steer us toward more expensive carpet, huge plus in my book. We gave him the measurements we needed and he took us out back. We ended up with three different types of carpet which was fine because it's going in different rooms/hallway. He only asked for $20 for about 90 square feet of remnant carpet. Only having to pay $20 to save our apartment's carpet, and security deposit is a huge relief. But Greg's kindness is really why I'm writing this review. He could've just told us that we had to buy new, whole roll carpet. But he chose to help us out. And as a young couple in our first apartment, that comes with much appreciation. Personal service....this is the place to go!!! Bonus: They are locally owned. Hired for both home and rental floor replacement. They helped me find suitable choices (even saving me a few bucks since they had a remnant piece for one area that looked almost identical to the original carpet I picked out.) But what I loved the most was how Greg followed up when my project got delayed (solely due to me) and did so without being pushy. Super courteous and great follow through. They moved furniture and appliances plus painted and installed new baseboards while they were at it. They did exactly as promised including the time it took to finish each job. Greg was even nice enough to patch a spot in my closet while they were there. It's refreshing to get such great service. We've had laminate and some carpet installed by Abbey Carpet recently and didn't have the best experience. The good - they have a really great selection of StainMaster carpets and several brands of laminate to choose from. They also offer the special laminate underlayment which reduces noise by a lot - I can't remember what it's called now, but it's a great product. Their salesperson that oversees their installation is a nice guy - Shane. The not so good - it took about 3 weeks for us to get our product whereas at S&G carpet, it took them a couple days. Even then, Abbey couldn't tell us where our product was or when it would be shipped or when it would arrive. They were at the mercy of goodness knows who and were pretty much just looking in their truck everyday to see what they got. Which got me thinking, if the product is coming in their truck - why couldn't they find a way to track what was coming in the truck? hmm. So, it was pretty much a waiting game and we had no way of knowing when on earth our floor could be installed. When the product finally arrived, we scheduled install 5 days later. So the install happens, and we find out that they didn't install baseboard in a closet where they were supposed to. A few days later, and we also find out that where they installed the nose trim between our laminate and carpet - the carpet is coming out of the nose trim because they did a bad job. When we called Abbey they said "well, you're not in a rush are you?" Then they said they'd call us 5 days later to schedule someone to come back. LATER EDIT: so, we had them come back to fix the mistakes. They installed the baseboard. Another issue was that they didn't put flooring all the way underneath our stove. They were also supposed to fix this. Only to find out when we come home, that they DIDN'T fix it a second time. They found out we had a gas stove the first time so they said they couldn't install the stove again after removing it. So we said fine, we'll get someone else to put the gas back, just for them to please fix the floor. This time, they said they can't remove the stove. okay, they KNEW we had a gas stove, and if they knew they couldn't do it, why say that you can, and then come back and say you can't? To make matters worse, the guy dropped a hammer on our new laminate floor and left a ding. They didn't say anything and now we are having to go back to abbey a third time to get them to fix the new mistake and the old stove problem. Overall? VERY DISAPPOINTED with abbey and will never go back to them again. read more
