We came to get pumpkins, two adult newlyweds with no kids and guess what we would like pumpkins too! It was $9.00 a person to get in that is $18.00 before we even got a pumpkin..... To walk around, pony rides ect... maybe nice if you had kids but a rip off if you just want to try to support the farm down the street and get a pumpkin. Then you still would have to pay for the pumpkins! read more

This is the greatest pumpkin farm I've ever been to!! It's so charming and my kids had the greatest time and we really needed it during covid. The staff was so friendly, everyone wore masks and everything was sanitized every hour. It was such a delight to be able to enjoy a public place and not worry about any health or safety issues. Horrible service. I drove up here from central Illinois to come here. Apparently it rained up here and it was muddy. I came for the night maze and went to buy tickets specifically for that. Not once did the attendant tell me that it was muddy out there and I might not want to buy a ticket even thought I specifically said I was here for the night maze. I end up staying here for a total of 18 minutes because all the paths are unwalkable. So I go to ask if I can either get a refund or just a ticket for another day. The lady laughs in my face and tells me she can't give me a refund for mud. I explained how I traveled up from central Illinois so I wasn't aware of the weather up here. She laughed again and sarcastically said sorry I can't put a bubble over the farm. I understand that weather happens but the fact that they couldn't even offer me a replacement ticket for another day or any form of refund or accommodation is ridiculous and poor customer service. Definitely won't be returning. read more

Last weekend I went here with my wife and toddler to get our Christmas tree. We chose a tree from the precut lot. I brought the tree over to the check-out area. Four guys (all volunteers) helped me net the tree, and they tied the tree to my trunk. The folks inside the barn offered my wife and I free donuts and hot chocolate. I liked the people. I found their attitudes friendly and helpful. Overall, the experience was quick and easy. The tree was about $60 for a 7 foot tree. I think it was a great deal. read more

We just got our Christmas Tree at Abbey Farms. We were SO impressed at how organised everything was - it ran like clockwork! We were able to find our perfect tree, the gentlemen shook out our tree, tidied up the bottom, bagged it, and tied it to our car. A 45 minute drive on I-88 and it stayed on the car and in perfect condition. We also had a lovely (free) hot chocolate, and got some great items in the shop. The staff were extremely friendly and professional - we were really impressed!! We enjoyed our afternoon a great deal. :-) read more

We picked up a pre-cut tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. Service was good and their Santa was very nice. We spent ~ $100 on a 9ft tree which never absorbed water or 'opened up'. Within a week it was turning brown & very dry. I know they bring pre-cut trees on from other places & re-sell them but the quality was very very poor. read more

We had our nicest pumpkin farm experience here. We arrived at about 4:30 pm last Sunday and felt like it was a bit of a waste to have to pay the full-price admission for two adults ($9 each - our toddler was free), but it was worth every penny. Most people had left so we got to park close. Our son had free use of the bounce houses and climbing on the tractors and construction trucks, which he loved. The setting is gorgeous and we enjoyed the delicious pumpkin donuts and the mazes. We didn't realize they had tractor rides until it was almost closing time at 5:55, but Eric agreed to take us because my son really wanted to go. The sun was setting as the tractor rounded the field and it was beautiful. Thanks Eric and Marmion! read more

Donuts are awesome... We have a u-cut tradition in our family from our time in western Maryland. Moving to Chicago area, only 10miles from the loop, it's hard to find a u-cut farm that isn't a 2hrs drive one way. the Abbey Farms at Marmion Abbey was the best we found within a 1hr driving radius from the loop. We got our Christmas trees here at least for the past two years and they were solid trees and good memories/stories for the family. The donuts are awesome; the staff is always very cheerful and helpful. Unfortunately, when we went to Abbey Farms this year (the Saturday after Thanksgiving), the u-cut trees were incredibly picked over. The only decent trees were in the 5-6" height. And I didn't see fields of next year trees, so I doubt we'll be coming back (makes me sad to say that). The pre-cut trees looked very nice, and the barn was cosy and fun as usual. and the Donuts are awesome (very moist, very appley) read more

This place is great for kids. They have big low up slides, petting zoo, corn maze and more activities for children all included in the admission price. Not the best selection for a pumpkin ( only 1 acre) however it's nice to know that the money you spend is going toward something good! If you think the admission price is steep you can wright it off on your taxes! The donuts, cider and pie were delish! Pet friendly (as long as they are leashed) that is always a plus! Also they have a store and sell jams, honey, sauces, dressings, soaps etc. Nice experience. I would only go though if you have kids, for all the activities. if you are looking for a perfect pumpkin, stick with bengstons they have almost 20 acres compared to only 1 at abbey farms. I gave 3 stars because I do not have kids so this was not my ideal place, however it's still a great place for people with kids. read more

If I wanted to go to a pumpkin patch again, this one would not be it. I went w/ a groupon, which is the only reason I'm "ok" with the place. If I had paid more out of pocket, I might have been upset over what I'm getting for the cost. It's a small farm. You pay $9 per person for some mazes, hay rides, and bouncy house attractions. My girls were most excited about the petting zoo, which wasn't even set up when we went (on a sunday afternoon). Didn't make it to the hay rides because the lines were too long. The pumpkins are kind of pricey, too. Had some kettle corn and apple cider donuts. Kettle corn was pretty good, donuts were standard fare. read more

I will not be returning here. It was extremely busy because of the groupon/living social deal. I should have known when I had to park close to butterfield that it was going to be aweful-but I was already there plus I bought the deal so I had to use it-right? Well They need to be open more than just weekends because there are WAY to many people here. Lines for donuts were the longest I have ever seen-felt like I was at Walmart on Black Friday! My kids did the small corn maze, but we didn't do the other activities because we simply did not want to wait in line for hours for donuts or bounce houses. I will never be coming back here. I was very dissapointed and also tired from having to carry my huge "free" pumpkin to my car-eesh! Instead of waiting in line for donuts took the kids to ice cream instead! read more

We had a Groupon and I was curious about the farm that is associated with the Abbey. So we decided to go, there were 3 adults, and 2 kids (2 & 6). The kids had fun but we have definitely experienced better pumpkin patches. Plus we had an accident. The place was small and dusty. The petting zoo was no bigger than 500 sqf. I think the animals are very stressed out with so many kids chasing them and have nowhere to hide. They kept scooping the poop so it was clean in general. There were several activities to keep kids busy. The pumpkins were pricey, $.45 per pound. Then we had a BIG scare on the slide! There were two slides, one is a normal one, the other one called Titanic. Basically it is a blown up upside-down ship, about 3 stories tall, you crawl up the center of the boat then slide down the deck of the ship just like in the movie. problem was that the adult holding the 2 year old fell off the side near the bottom of the slide when they came slid down. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt. They just got their right elbow, wrist and knee scraped up on the gravel. The guy worked at the slide kept saying sorry but didn't know he should direct us to first aid. We found the staff in the donuts store. People were nice but the accident scared all of us. First of all, they should pump the slide better so the edge would hold people inside, just think if they fell out near the top! Second, they probably should put an age limit to it. people too young or too old should not be allow on it, since the adults might be too heavy for the slide to operate safely. I really wanted to like this place, but we won't be coming back. read more

I purchased a Groupon and went with my husband, sister, and nephew. My nephew loved it. Going off my previous posts, you might know that my nephew is more than a handful. The staff at Marmion Abbey Farms were very patient, talkative, and everything else positive you can say. I went on a Saturday afternoon, and the lines were little to nothing. We missed the petting zoo, though. :( As someone else reviewed, the pumpkins were store-quality, but we didn't pay extra so we got a good value. It was nice for my nephew that all the activities were included in the small admission price. Even at face value, I'd say it was potentially worth it. The biggest negative was that the entrance was very hard to find. read more

This place underestimated their response from groupon and living social and it was so crowded. There were really long lines for everything. We had to wait in a long line for donuts and then a different long line for water. Everyone working there was really nice, but it stinks that we ended up cutting our visit short because of the crowds and lines. read more

Highly disappointed! Researched some of the largest corn mazes to take my 12 year old and decided on this one. The grounds said muddy which we were ok with. What's a little mud. However, we made it 10 steps into the maze and our feet were getting stuck like quick sand. My shoe was sucked off and my daughter slipped. We turned around after 10 and decided to leave. We were only interested in the corn maze. While there are a lot of activities, there are not many geared toward her age group. I headed to the front and asked if we could get a refund and/or return passes to try again when it wasn't as muddy, they said no sorry you should have worn boots. So I spent $30 to walk in and buy popcorn. I totally understand weather conditions are unpredictable but there was no possibility of making it further into the maze. We didn't have small children with us and we weren't there several hours. We were literally there 30 minutes. The same lady which I had spoken to on our way in was there on our way out. I asked her which direction was the maze and upon exiting I asked her if we could get return passes. My daughter was extremely disappointed as we did plenty of research last night and chose this one because it was 12 acres. Was readmission passes to much to ask for? They would have made that money back in buying more popcorn and donuts on our return visit. read more
