I arrived to this location for the Peach Festival. The location was very easy to find and there are plenty of parking blocked off so, unless the location is very busy, parking should not be a huge issue. I walked into the farmers market and they had lot of things to buy such as fruits, pies, cobblers, and some canned goods like Salsa, Jams and Queso. However, its also the same canned goods you can find at a lot of other places... I didn't see much that said "Windy Acres Farm". There is a bakery which did sell a few peach items but I expected more peach food items from a peach festivals. We did pay extra to get into the kids activities. There was a little sectioned off toddler area. Then there were kids and young adult things like football tosses, tug of war, slides, and a petting kid. The grill had some items like peach BBQ pulled pork, but also loaded fries/nachos and hot dogs. Again... not many peach items for the festival. The bar did have some peach drinks and they were okay. Everyone working at this place was very friendly. I did not have any issues during my visit. However, the prices for the peach was very pricey. Two bags of peaches (which holds maybe 10-12 or so) costed me around $45. So I think it was around 5.99 or so per pound. Sadly, my toddler was acting up so I didn't read the sign properly. However, I did not expect to pay so much for so little peaches Overall, I did have a fun time and I would check out the other festivals but I don't know if I would pay more for the kid things to do..and I wish there would be more themed food items. read more

Visited this past Friday for the Peach Festival. Nice location and the entire set up is so welcoming and thoughtful. A lot of places to sit and talk I. The shade. Games and activities for kids and great French fries and nachos. The drinks for adults were great as well. We loved it. read more

Horrible, rude managers. They are super rude to their employees. Always yelling or degrading them around customers!!!!! I am shocked anyone would want to work here and their prices are outrageously high and have been years!!!! Well before the economy we are currently in. Avoid this place at all costs. Almost $20 a person to get in! We came here for the "strawberry" festival and it was such a disappointment. Where the heck were the strawberries!? It was all in the front where the market was. I wish we had known this before going into the little I guess like park/activity area. They had a ton of things for kids to do but it wasn't worth it. We ended up leaving and not having ANYTHING strawberry at a festival that's supposed to be for "STRAWBERRIES." Parking was free though BUT the grass wasn't even cut so that was annoying as well. The service from staff was good though but you can definitely tell they were doing the best they can with it being crowded. I drove 40 mins to get food from he strawberry fest & what a disappointment. The strawberry shortcake was in a tiny bowl for $10 The slushy was just basically a snowball with watered down cherry juice yuck I didn't even drink it my kids didn't even want it. The turkey let was $11 was big but the skin was so tough you couldn't even rip it with your teeth. The only good thing were the fried Oreos. They didn't have that many strawberry food options Like woodys in plano. The strawberry's they sold were $7.50 this place was expensive. If you want a real strawberry slushy go to woodys theirs is made with real strawberries and delicious. read more

We came here yesterday for the Peach Fest. It was $12 a person to get in. I'll be honest I feel like this is more for kids or people with kids. My fiancé and I are in our 30's and majority of the attractions are for kids. We did enjoy playing bags, they had a attraction where are you can throw footballs like a quarterback through tires, that was really fun. They had baskets to shoot hoops, A jumping station, big chess pieces, a lot of kids climbing areas. They had a band and a place to play mini golf. The petting zoo was really cute. We had a really good time, everything was fun. The staff was friendly and the peach shortcake was really good. The peach cobbler was just ok. Both together was around $17. I think the prices in the farm stand are pretty expensive and people were complaining about that. Parking was easy and free. The train ride is $6. All in all we had fun. read more

We visited on a Friday late afternoon with 2 toddlers. The giant jumpy house was deflated and the "pig racers" were not operating. Bought the kids ice cream which was ice cream from Walmart! My family and I had a BLAST! $16 entry which INCLUDED every activity. Sometimes farms don't have that. Full bar/grill, peach slushees, cobbler, tart, farm James & jellies. Hanging plants. The staff was nice, I mean every member we spoke to. Parking employees navigating traffic and spaces was a plus. I'm excited for the blueberry festival and fall season. Tons of game animals, chickens running around, you can buy a cup of veggies or feed the chickens and goats for .25 or 50 cents. There was a DJ kids were dancing and having a blast. What a scam! Strawberry Festival. The fruits are not grown there. The pies are not baked there. $17 The fruit inside the strawberry shortcake is frozen and thawed. A few thinly sliced fresh berries on top. Everything is triple what you would expect to pay. The kids area is decent. Ages 3-10 Adults still pay $16 each to watch their kids. The guitar player was good. Festival of Filching is more appropriate. read more

We've come in the past for blueberry and corn fest and while it is packed and expensive (be ready to shell out like $65 just to get into the fest with your family) there is a lot to do. This year we came a day before the strawberry fest just to shop in the store and it was empty! First pick at the tee shirts, grabbed some donuts and strawberries and the kids went to look for the tadpoles at the pond they see now and then. A great experience even if we didn't get a dessert because one of the kids soaked their shoe in mud and wanted to leave! read more

We passed by this place on our way to/from dinner and I'm so glad we dropped in. We left with $109 worth of maple syrups, beverage syrup, honey, pancake mix and dip mix. So far, we've tried 3 of the syrups and they were delicious (Bourbon Barrel, salted caramel and peach). We might be back for their festival in August for good, music and more tasty treats. We wanted to get some cuts of fresh cow from the freezer, but they were pretty overpriced. I'm sure it was just because it was locally butchered, but we couldn't justify spending $80 on a steak. My wife took me to Peach Fest here and we loved it! Lots of goodies to choose from- we got peach salsa, peaches, peach cobbler with ice cream, etc. The peach salsa was incredible!! The market is great, many options to choose what type of vegetable to get. Unfortunately I wouldn't come back or recommend coming here. It's 15 dollars per person and they give you a tiny bag that fits a maximum of 6-8 apples. The going honey crisps apples were all gone, there were very little options to choose from. We were there in the orchard for 20 mins (not a very big orchard at all) and an employ came up to us asking if we're done to go back to the wagon. It was a big group but of course we all felt rushed and got back onto the wagon. It was empty when we were there so we didn't see the rush. Got back to the tables to eat with friends and family. Someone asked if it was ok to have a Bluetooth and music and they said yes. Apparently after a while because we were laughing, eating, and music playing it was considered a party. They told me that if they had known it would be like that they would've charged us as if it was a party but it wasn't. Last time going there also they didn't have most of the deserts that were on the menu. Overall for 15 dollars and a small bag. Definitely not worth it. Other orchards give you a basket and more options to choose from. read more

Came here for strawberry fest. It took my friend over an hour to get her food order (brat and fries). I was able to go through the drink line twice before she got her food. If you had kids, there was a nice kids play area which was the only part that you had to pay for. My boyfriend got in line for strawberry shortcake, but then when he sall staff coming in with bags of Walmart strawberries and other items we got out of line. Overall, the band was good and something to do during the day, but nothing that spectacular. read more

SCAM ALERT! Please be advised their produce is not local and molds within a day or two of purchase. Overpriced even for small farms, and their "homemade" desserts are store-bought. If you see their property on Google Maps, you'll see it's not the expansive farm they claim it to be. When I posted an honest review (attached) on Facebook, they blocked me. This "business" is unprofessional and preys on locals looking for a fun time. Go at your own risk, and be prepared to overpay and have a generally miserable time. Unfortunately, we will not be back for doughnuts as indicated in the original review in light of their continued unscrupulous business practices. read more

AMBIGUOUS, UNCLEAR PRICING STRUCTURE. EXORBITANT PRICES. DISHONEST BUSINESS PRACTICES. First of all, I want to say that I'm a huge supporter of local small businesses, and I'm willing to pay a bit more to support them. Windy Acres promotes itself as a $$ business, BUT DON'T BE FOOLED. Recently, I purchased 2 moss baskets. The tags said they are $54.99 each, and their website states the same, AND Tax is included in the price. However they charged me $55/basket plus 7% tax. I thought to myself, why list them as $54.99, then round it up to $55, and I thought Tax was included in the price?? But I let it go. A few days later, they had a sign that said Flower Baskets SALE. I confirmed the sale with the sales woman and decided to get a couple more baskets. I also brought my own hanging wrought iron basket, with the intention of finding a moss basket for it. The woman said that the ready-made moss baskets were too big for my iron basket, and they could make a smaller one to fit while I waited. So I agreed -- with the sale, and a smaller basket, the woman SAID that she'd give me a deal. She charged via Square, and I got my receipt emailed to me, so I didn't bother to check my receipt and went home. That night, I checked my email, and to my shock, I saw that she charged me $85.00 for the smaller basket (!!) and $55 for each of the other baskets! I was shocked and angry because: 1) there was NO discount whatsoever, and 2) she charged me $85 for the smaller moss basket! I kicked myself for not confirming the prices when I left, and I honestly felt duped!! Feeling completely deceived, I went back the next day to talk to the woman. She wasn't there, but there where two other women there (her sisters, I learned). I told them that they did NOT give me any discount, despite the advertised sign. Their answer: "Oh the baskets are really $65.00, so you did get a discount." Seriously?! I was so flabbergasted, as I KNOW that was NOT true. I also asked why the SMALLER basket was $85.00. Their answer: It was a "custom basket" and special orders cost more. Again I was speechless -- with this insanely high price, as a courtesy, they should inform their customers: hey this "custom basket" will be $85, is that okay? AND NO discount here either. In the end, after them making a lot of excuses, they offered to refund me $20. REALLY? $65 for the small basket, and that's supposed to be acceptable? At this point, I was exhausted with this very unpleasant confrontation, and I agreed and just wanted to get out of there. Unfortunately, this entire experience with them was very unpleasant. At the very least, I expect small business owners to be honest and upfront with their prices, yet the owners at Windy Acres where not. If you want to get duped with ambiguous pricing, get charged exorbitant, unreal prices for plants, then try them. I've learned my lesson and will never go there again. P.S. They also sell produce and fruits, and at several Farmers Markets. They state that all their fruit & veggies are grown on their farm. After talking to a very good friend of mine about my experience, she told me 2 of her daughters worked there one summer. Windy Acres bought some fruits from a chain grocery store, had the girls remove the stickers from the fruit, and then sell them at higher prices! Unbelievable and incredibly dishonest. read more

I am shocked at the prices that this place charges for produce we have so many local farm around us that offer organic fresh produce for way way less. My husband and I purchased 5 peaches 1 watermelon and a jar of marinated mushrooms and when we got to the register the lady told us it was going to be over 30 dollar I was in shock what did we buy that cost that much. Arrived at the entrance and my six year old ran inside because he saw his grandparents at the food stand. I had my two year old and not even could I get my thoughts together before some man rolled up saying :Did you get your tickets?? I responded as I had already started turning the stroller that way, yes, that's where I'm headed as he spotted Grandma and Grandpa. All of a sudden a cop is standing there. It was the most bizarre experience ever before even entering the farm! You can't just walk in... you need a wristband so how they thought I was going to get in by "not paying" is beyond and presumptuous!!! Also, way way over priced for food!! When you pull up to Windy Acres, it's so beautiful! They blooming flowers, the cute vegetable stand, it looks like a fun and inviting place. The employees seem to know a lot about their produce, explained how many days you should eat the produce by, etc. A lot of the items didn't have prices on them, which I though was weird, but didn't think anything of it. We got to the register, I asked if they still had peach slushees and if I could add 2 to the order. The cashier finished ringing up my Items and told me the price and all I could think was HOLY SCHNIKIES!! I get more at Whole Foods for $116. I didn't want to be that person to question all the prices, I just paid and left. I got in the car and looked at my receipt. It's just not worth it, I feel ripped off, the fruit was just ok. $20 for a small bag of peaches (5 total) and one had a hole in it and was empty inside. $28 for a decent size peach cobbler, there was no price on that either. Shame on me for not asking the prices though, I will never go back. If you go, just make sure you ask for the prices if they aren't listed and check all your produce. I was extremely disappointed in this place. I don't mind paying a premium at a farmer's market to obtain high quality produce. I purchased a half-dozen ears of corn for $1.25 each, so I expected to receive very tasty sweet corn, as advertised. I couldn't pick out the ears of corn myself as one would do at a grocery store. Instead the cashier picked them out from behind the counter. After I got home, I noticed one of the 6 ears was deformed with only half of it being edible. Another one was moldy and had to tossed away. I also bought a peach pie, which the cashier said was quite popular. There were hardly any peaches in the pie. When I cut a sizeable slice for my next day morning breakfast, I lifted up the top of the crust with my folk and noticed there weren't any peaches in the slice. It was basically just peach flavored crust. I won't be visiting this place again. read more

Went to this farm for a donut decorating event, to see the Easter bunny and to ride the Bunny train to see Farm animals. Although expensive, the decorating and visiting with the Easter bunny was delightful. After traveling for an hour however, the train was not working. We were offered tickets to come back the next weekend but the return was not doable. In addition I bought an adorable flower watering can. It doesn't have any drainage and plants already dead. Again, loved the partial experience but could definitely be better if I was refunded for the portion we couldn't do! read more

The produce looked good though I didn't end up buying any. I was very disappointed in the apple cider donuts and apple cider both were not "farm fresh." The donuts cooked on site were clearly made from a mix (not from scratch) and filled with chemicals and preservatives. We might as well have gone to Dunkin' Donuts. And the cider had artificial preservatives. I could have bought this a Jewel. I didn't need to go to the "farm stand" for either of these items. Maybe this place could be fun in warmer weather but the Christmas train and Santa visit was not worth $12 kids/$8 adults. When we pulled in the parking lot did not have many cars. A bad sign two weeks before Christmas. We purchased the tickets online with a surcharge! Wish I had not. Would have left looking st even the train. The train took a short ride looking at nothing. We did make a s'more which was nice. Everything was overpriced in the tent area. I ordered two donut making kits for $15 each. We were so disappointed to see 3 small donuts in each box with little baggies of frosting. Seriously $5 a donut. Highway robbery. The only thing good about this place was the staff. They were very friendly. We are a family of 9. I wasted nearly $150 there. So disappointed! read more

We went to the Blueberry fest today for the first time and it was very disappointing. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING is well overpriced. The other disappointment was that you can't order food from "The Grill" unless you pay a $6 admission fee!!!! Who does that!? Thankfully we did not buy anything and we will never be back. read more

This was a fun place to go visit with my kids, lots of selection of tasty farm fresh foods. But the price?!? OMG?!?! We're talking, more expensive than Whole Foods. I've never been to a farm stand this expensive. We enjoyed our experience going during the Peach Fest because we haven't gone on vacation this year, but as we drove home I was kicking myself for not making them explain each price of each item as the receipt didn't list everything but simply said "misc food", "other item". Try Van Der Greind's in Lansing, IL for farm fresh at honest low prices. They don't have quite as much selection of jarred and bottled stuff as Windy Acres but you will get A LOT at a fraction of the cost. Or my favorite: The Farm in Westmont, IL. I'd come back to Windy Acres if it was a tad cheaper. read more

Windy Acres is in a good location and typically carries a good variety of fresh fruits and vegetables both grown on their farm and brought in through other farms. The people are friendly and shopping there is convenient. The big caveat to all this is the prices. I have no problem paying extra to support local businesses but the is a limit. They are always higher priced then the other farm stands and other vendors at the French Market and rarely by a little, usually by a lot. I think I may have made my last stop there today. One bundle of asparagus $9.50 ! Over 3x what you pay at the grocery store for regular asparagus and nearly 2x the price of organic asparagus at Whole Foods. This one not a one off experience, it is the case every time we stop there, including the year they wanted over $400 for a Xmas tree. I hope others continue to support them, I plan to spend with some of the other farm stand in the area instead. read more

I support small business, farmer's markets and family-owned farms. This place, though? Oof. A total sham. I get it - it's a destination for the city slickers to to experience "the country life"...but...it's a joke. Completely (and, I mean...completely) overpriced (for example, cherries are $12.99/lb., corn is $1.00/ear, tomatoes are $3.99 lb - produce was being taken off of pallets so unsure of actual source) and disorganized. Waited 30+ minutes for food ($11.00 brat and fries, $9.00 nachos), and had to listen to this female employee complain about onion rings the entire time...just, wow. Such an awful experience. Seems like many other people had the same comments from what I overheard. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place. read more
